UCKD5,DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO EXTRACT THE MODEM OUT OF A TAR FILE AND MAKE IT INTO A STAND ALONE ZIP FILE TO FLASH INSTALL? SORY FOR THE NOOB QUESTION,BUT IT SEEMS THAT IS THE ONLY MODEM WHICH WILL WORK PROPERLY ON MY i997 NO MATTER WHICH ROM I USE.. CURENTLY RUNING DLevROM NOW. HAD TO FLASH CUSTOM KERNEL TO GET BLUETOOTH WORKING,NOW JUST NEED UCKD5 MODEM AND THE LINK FOR IT ON XDA IS NOT WORKING.. ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECEIATED.. THANKS.

Easiest way would be to download a ROM that has the modem you want... Unzip the ROM into a folder and open it up.. There is a folder in there called "updates". Double click that folder and there are 2 files you need... redbend_ua and modem.bin. Now you need to create a folder doesnt matter what you name it.. within that folder create 2 new folders.. META-INF and updates. The modem and redbend_ua files go into the updates folder. The META-INF is going to be the folder that contains signature and updater script and update binary.. which in short is what tells cwm what to install and where to install it .... This is something that id highly recommend researching before you try it..
Just to emphasize... if you dont know what your doing you may be finding out what heimdell one click and odin are about..

Alot of people, including myself will disagree with you saying that UCLB3 is better... There are others that are more stable and have better battery life... for example uckl2... It all comes down to personal preference and what works for you.
Battery life's been bad all the time so I don't even consider that anymore. I'm coming from an iphone that would last a helluva lot longer Lol.

Ucklb3 and uckl2 both are having issues with my device..the UCKD5 seems to be the only modem that works flawlessly with my device.. dont have any clue why.. i think my i997 is possesed

hi, i also just downloaded the zip... i updated rom manager thru the market, but it still doesnt list our phone. do i need to reboot into recovery and install that zip in order for it to be listed in the rom manager?

I went to the file with a file manager and selected it...it brought up clockwork..i selected it and it looked like it flashed ..but results are the same. Need ext4 kernal before this works..

at their site it might show it but its different to incorporate it in Rom Manager
I updated too but did not find our device in the list. I looked at the zip and its full of stuff.
I renamed that zip to update.zip and put in root of sd card, boot to clockwork recovery 3.2.0.0. I didn't try anything further, don't know if there is any difference beside version number.
That **** aint on rom manager and if it was this stupid ass phone don't even have no roms the only phone on the dorums with no roms how corny is that!!!

Hey Guys, I have the Samsung Galaxy S 4G updated to 2.3.3. My phone will randomly during each and every call I have reboot. This is annoying as hell. I've Searched around the Forums and noticed that people have said to remove your SD Card for 24 Hours. I've done this yet the problem still is here.
Will upgrading my Modem/Baseband to something like KI3 fix my problem? Thanks.

Yeah but all I've seen is all these Custom Rooted Roms and such. I'm stupid with those CWM and Rooting and such like that. I just want the 2.3.5 Stock. I don't want help with trying to get those Custom ROM's even though I do want them.
There is no stock official release if that is what you mean but you can Odin a leaked rom. Their stock.

Not at home near my computer at the moment and I don't have any accounts to upload it to anyways. If you download the kk1 or kk2 deodexed roms you can pull it from one of them. I'm not sure which one has the old one. Sorry can't upload it for you.

Then you are out of luck. Most of the files were hosted on megaupload affiliate's and when it went down so did the files.
Make sure your contacts are backed-up on your sdcard/google and upgrade to gingerbread you will be happier.
