Since I did the update to ICS on my Transformer, my gmail app stopped working. Now when I load it, it appears for a second then the screen goes black and I find myself on my homescreen.
I've uninstalled the app and cleared data. Neither worked.

Same thing happened to me..then after about a month it started working again. I figured there was probably some email that was giving it issues, until enough time passed that it stopped trying that particular one.
Maybe try deleting (or moving) the messages that came in right before it stopped working? (via gmail.com)
I'll look at the specific emails but don't see how that should effect anything. Worth a shot.

there's another post here about maps, and people there were having issue with gmail too.
when i did a logcat when gmail error out and fc, it was telling me openGL out of memory?.
i'm on team EOS ICS stable. so your not the only one having issues with gmail. and it doesnt seem like a ROM issue too, cause each one of them was using a different ROM.
i hope this get cleared up soon

Yes I hope they can get this cleared up as well. I haven't rooted it and it was working before I did the update to ICS. Other than the Gmail issue, I haven't had any other problems since I updated. However this is a big issue for me because I use Gmail so much and having to use a browser to access it is becoming a real pain.

Well I got it to work! I did a factory reset and gmail is working perfectly. Now that I think about it, it makes sense. I should have done this sooner. I hope this can help others who have the same or similar issues.

Mine did not work the other day too.. it just crash and return to homescreen..
I just clear cache in settings - apps - gmail and it start working again perfectly.. no need factory reset and no need reboot..

Try clearing market data. If that doesn't work try factory restore. Others are having similar issues.

Yeah. Been seeing that on and off for several days now. One of 2 different error messages and a refusal to update... Definitely not ICS related since I haven't taken the plunge yet. Some thought it was leak related because the timing the same, but I can confirm that it is happening on stock from time to time too, so probably just coincidental timing.
(think I may have to go ahead and flash something ICS after work now that there are a few choices with most of the bugs squashed)

I can say I had some troubles with the play store lately which caused app to not show up, all day I tried every method to get all the apps to show up.
It all started after I flashed mhx superlite 3.1 .
Eventually I downloaded the stock build.prop and replaced it with my own, that pretty much solved all the issues.
sounds like a bad update, clearing data and maybe even uninstalling the update and allowing it to re-install on wifi could fix it.
I was surfing Dolphin browser and my phone rebooted (as it does sometimes which is awesome) and when it rebooted here's a list of what won't work: google service framework, voice, messaging, Dolphin HD, and dialer. They will open for a sec and then force close with an error. If I try to call the phone it will ring, then phone has an error and then will force close and stop ringing.
The phone is rooted with VB. I tried rebooting several times and clearing caches of the programs that were failing to no avail. Other apps work just fine. Signal bars are grey saying it has no Google connectivity.
Thanks guys,
Jesse
Factory reset and reflash ROM.
Thanks for the fast response.
Is it anything I did that caused this or anything I can do to prevent this from happening again?

Don't think so. Thomas is was looking into it. It has happened to many of us - including me. I was on VB also when it happened.
What ROM are you on now? Might as well try something different for S&G.

I know you weren't asking me, but you should try unnamed. It seems to be more overlooked than others, but I find it outperforms vb. And with antonx kernel no reboots.

I'm wondering if anyone else is having an issue with the Facebook (for syncing) that came with the phone? I had it added (Accounts and Sync), and had it syncing my Facebook Galleries without any problem up until about 4 days ago. I then started getting an error stating: "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." I tried removing the account and re-adding it, deleting facebook and reinstalling, etc. Nothing seems to make it sync. I went to Verizon and all they could suggest was a Factory Reset, which I don't want to do just yet. Has anyone had this issue or know how to resolve it?
I attached a screen shot of what I'm talking about.
Sorry, see my post below
Same problem here. I have found no fixes as of yet.

I started having the same issue PLUS no calls were coming through...maybe texts too, but I'm not sure. I spent a couple of hours trying to figure this out last night. I too uninstalled and reinstalled, but it didn't work. So now I'm without my Facebook app because I'd much rather get my calls and texts.
If anyone figures this out, please let me know!

This is still not working for me even though I have tried everything I could think of... I'm still wondering if this is just my phone or if others are having this issue?

I haven't found a fix yet either.
It's hard to believe there are only three of us with this problem.
Just Experienced this.
Hey guys I just encountered this. Facebook for syncing is no longer working. I wonder if this happened in the 4.0.4 update? I just googled the issue so I'm not sure of there was a follow up to this. Will post if I find a resolution.

I would try un installing and reinstalling the Facebook app. This always seemed to fix syncing issues for me on touchwiz roms.
Edit. Sorry, didn't read that you had already tried that.

Never had that issue, I use haxsync for my contacts and events works great for mea

Fixed
I removed the account and then re-added it, used my mobile number, chose not to sync gallery and it magically worked. Strange...

It ended up working again after a few days, and has been working since. No idea what the problem was...

Mine came back with a vengeance! Facebook Calendar sync issues again... I don't believe there is a way to uninstall and reinstall as the "syncing" part is built in.

Just got my Note today. Whenever I am using the browser I keep getting a message saying something along the lines of Unfortunately Google.com.android gapps has stopped working.
This is a brand new Note running stick firmware.

Try a factory reset. If that doesn't work, I'd exchange it. Why screw with something brand new?
Yea, what the guy above me said. I've had my note for a month and never once seen what you describe. Definitely exchange if factory reset doesn't sort it out
I agree with the two previous posters. Ive had the note since August as well and I having had any issues.

Did a Google search which maybe I should have done first . It seems to have been caused by syncing Internet on my Google account. Unticked the option, cleared data and all is well .

I believe he meant account syncing, so if you have an app that needs data from your account, it can access it within an interval (certain time) e.g. Google Mail, when you get an email it'll give you a notification telling you that you have one.
Is anyone else getting this error when trying to update/install apps? it looks like other devices are having it too.
Edit: Working now, that was odd.
yeah, im geting it too
im using taste of beans 3.1
I was earlier but it does seem to be fixed. I did notice that the play store updated on my phone today about that same time. Probably had something to do with that I assume.

Just tried it. Works for me.
If you can't get the play store to work go on line and log onto your googleplay account. Update all your apps that need to be updated and it should work.
