Hey everyone,
I started doing daily builds from the CM 7 source code just for myself but then people asked me to share them so I figured I would post them and share them with you crackflashers out there so you have something to flash as you wait for the official nightly
This is UNOFFICIAL and is NOT supported by CyanogenMod. DO NOT SUBMIT BUG REPORTS FOR THESE BUILDS TO CYANOGEN MOD.
This is kanged straight from the Cm 7 source. It has not been changed or modified in any way, just compiled. I will try to update the 2nd post everyday around 2 or 3pm EST with a fresh link
Same installation instructions that apply to the nightlies go for these builds as well so I'll quote the text from Chris Soyars' thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058131
"Important!
It is strongly recommended that you flash clockwork recovery via NVFlash. If for some reason this or a future nightly build causes your phone to not boot up, you will not be able to boot into recovery unless you have it flashed via NVFlash.
NVFlash for Linux
NVFlash for Windows
To clear up some confusion, if you flashed your recovery via ROM Manager, you didn't actually flash a recovery. It is what we call a fakeflash, you should still probably flash with NVFlash.
Instructions
Download from http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=p999 and flash like you would any other ROM (via recovery or ROM Manager).
Be sure to backup before flashing, and of course a wipe is necessary when coming from stock.
Gapps are available from the usual places, however do not download the version that says it is for Tegra, even though this is a tegra device, as it will not flash.
Mod Edit:

ChrisSoyars Edit:
After skimming some of the posts in this thread, here are some things that you can expect.
What to expect
- Everything working including Wifi, GPS, Audio, Camera, Front Facing Camera
- Screen off animation is not enabled, therefore it isn't broken.
- Occasional audio problems (as far as I know they have not been fixed). If audio does not play just reboot.
- Automagical brightness weridness, this is controlled by the kernel and not userspace, even having it working is very hacky."
Again this is NOT supported by cyanogen in ANY WAY. Flash at your own risk. I take no responsibility if you brick your device. ALWAYS BACK UP BEFORE FLASHING. I wont be fixing anything in these builds or changing anything, I'll leave that to the cyanogen crew to do So if you have issues or bugs no sense in reporting them as I'm sure they will be addressed in future official CM 7 builds

Alot of ppl that are kanging g2x cm7 have the date and time as part of the file name, then when we put it on the sd card we don't get confused if we have multiple updates from diff ppl, in the same folder. just a friendly suggestion. and would help ppl out.
Oh and i did try this kang out it is getting better and better, but still some minor things that make it a non-daily driver for me, but they are small and will hopefully get resolved in the near future....but man I love CM7 on this phone!

I don't know if this was posted but you can see the commits that are part of each nightly.

Flashed it over nightly3, it booted Seems to be running fine, no problems encountered so far. Thanks!
well, I seem to be having the same problems I had with the nightlys. The apns delete themselves therefore removing my data connection. I have tried rebooting several times etc. I re-add the apn settings and they won't save. I can only connect to data with wifi. Idk what the deal is.

I just went out and got a new simcard and sdcard because of this and the connection is faster, as well as the apns only deleting a handfull of times. A battery pull always brings them back.

I always had that happen on all the CM7 versions I tried. I had to go in and select the network manually to AT&T and then after it failed to register on the network I selected Automatic. Then the APNs would come back and I could get online. I don't know why this works but restarting never fixed it for me, it only caused the APNs to go away.

Only chat is working at the moment.
Now I have a question:
Is this the same as the one fitsnugly shares in his twitter? Or just the same compile made by two different people?
About the gtalk video, I have found a link in twitter for latest gapps that lets you do video in gtalk. *untested by me*
latest gapps can be downloaded here gapps-gb-20110503-signed.zip

nope, not the same as mine. i also add unfinished/unmerged mods from gerrit for testing in my builds.
Installation:
Install a 4.4 compatible recovery, and reboot to recovery if you did so.
Format /system, /data and /dalvik cache.
Flash a compatible radio (see below).
Flash the ROM.
Flash GApps.
Reboot and enjoy!
Known Issues:
Power-off charging animation not working.
You tell me...
Reporting Issues:
Do NOT report issues here if you're running a non-stock kernel, Xposed and/or modules, or any other non-stock mods.
For bug reporting (stock Slim ROM/kernel/GApps only), please use the Slim Bugreport tool, accessible through Settings > SlimCenter > Bugreport to produce a zip file in the phone's storage which you then can upload to the SlimROMs Skyrocket Subforum for review. Please see Reporting Bugs on the Slim web site for more information.
Any issues please explain with specific details, how to reproduce the problem, and provide a Slim Bug Report (preferred, in the ROM), or a logcat. Good feedback is ESSENTIAL.
Installation Notes:
Radios: Make sure you are running the UCMC1 or UXUMA7 or newer radio, and follow the installation instructions linked to in post #1. Thank @mohan_kr for his flashable radio contributions
Recovery: Recommended recovery is philz_touch_6.41.6-skyrocket.zip (flashable), or philz_touch_6.41.6-skyrocket.tar.md5 (Odin). Check out the PhilZ's Skyrocket-specific thread here: [skyrocket][CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch. Look for updates in PhilZ's goo.im Skyrocket folder.
You can also use TWRP Recovery if you like, but I haven't used it for some time:
[RECOVERY][skyrocket] TWRP 2.7.1.0 touch recovery.
Superuser: The Slim Team has made it so the Superuser App is not enabled by default, requiring users to intentionally turn on Root access. To enable it, navigate to Settings > Developer Options > Root Access and choose Apps and ADB (even though it may appear selected). For this to work, you need to first go to Settings > About Phone and tap on Build Number several times to gain access to the Developer Options.
Also see here: How do I enable Root?
Kernel: The kernel is based on the Moretz CM-11.0 kernel, but overclocking has been disabled to enhance stability. For sweep2wake, fast charge, and CPU freq/governor control features, I'd recommend [ROOT] Kernel Tweaker from the Play store.
Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi connection dropping issues? Check your region code in Settings > Wi-Fi > (menu key) > Advanced > Wi-Fi region code. It may be set to Europe by default, which uses a different set of Wi-Fi channels than the United States.
DPI: For information on changing the screen DPI, see here: How to change the screen density (DPI). Beware that some apps may not play nice with custom values, although normally the Slim GApps are modified to tell the Play Store and a couple other apps that the phone's DPI is always 240.
Enjoy!

If you press and HOLD the power button to force a reboot - The screen will turn on - It's seemingly somewhat random - I've been able to power off / on the screen repeatedly
- But then it fails to respond again... And have to force a reboot again..

Same here.
Although it doesn't work for alpha builds, and I don't know if it is an automated build that has the same display issue or not, the SlimCenter OTA tool shows 4.4 Alpha 1.3 is available.
I also noticed:
The Display>Light Options menu has an entry for Pulse Notification Light, but this is also listed first in the Notification light options.
Activating the Volume Wake option has no effect on the black screen issue.
I couldn't find the TRDS options mentioned in the OP (most everything is black & white in the base theme anyway).
Fast and smooth
EDIT/ADDED: Also, selected Device Administrators don't stay selected following a reboot.
Hey @prbassplayer, do you and/or the Slim folks have enough debug info about the BSOD issue? I'm thinking it's kmsg you might want, but idk...

A logcat and kmsg of while it happens would be great. I have 2 logs but i havent had a chance to take a look at it. I hope to have time tonight or tomorrow night

OK, I flashed back to SlimKat here and reproduced the black screen issue. Pulled dmesg, /proc/last_kmsg, and logcat with adb.
Interesting note is that the phone is not completely dead when this happens. When I plug into and remove the phone from my workstation, I hear the charging sound but no screen wake-up or response. I tried to guess where my PIN numbers would be to see if I could unlock the phone with the screen off (and hear the unlock sound), but I couldn't get it.
For dmesg, I get an error "klogctl: Operation not permitted". I tried to save it to the phone but I couldn't define the local phone path correctly (tried /storage/sdcard0/ and some others) but I kept getting "The system cannot find the path specified". If I run adb shell, I can navigate to that folder/storage location and I get the same error message... I'm kind of a noob with adb here.
My free pastebin account is limited to 500k per paste, so hopefully I've captured the errors in the logcat. I saw a bunch of E/qdoverlay lines...

Hey all, I haven't seen any new activity on SlimKat alpha or beta versions, but since the CM merge of 4.4.1, I was able to get SlimKat 4.4.1 beta 1.4 to build last night, and I'm testing it on my SR right now.
I have searched for another/new thread, and I've been "F5-ing" the heck out of Slimroms.net looking for updates, lol.
Any idea where SlimKat is publicly at?

Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Where to go from here
Not sure what happened, hope this didn't get posted twice.
Hi,
I am still happily using the Samsung Infuse 4G, and was running the stock GB 2.3.6. No real issues, and although starting to get a sense of it being dated was having no issues and in no rush to go out and upgrade. However, we recently purchased a 2015 Subaru Legacy with their Starlink multimedia system. The Infuse, as it was with the stock GB had no problems connecting via BT for phone and audio functionality. But, the car system reports that the phone is not compatible for messaging. In my endeavors to understand why, I thought, maybe incorrectly, that GB does not support the MAP profile.
So, that led me to, is it possible to add that, and how do you do it, or is it time to upgrade? Flash a new ROM? I can't seem to find much on the specific issue I am trying to resolve and if a new ROM would fix it, but since the phone is way out of warranty I decided to try rooting and flashing a ROM. I am new to this so I went with the Aeon 1.4 ROM based on GB 2.3.6 (I think), hoping that it was a bit less risky. Everything went well and seems to be working fine. But, it did not fix the messaging issue with the car. I assume because it is really still GB.
Am I going about this wrong? Would a flash up to ICS or beyond possibly do it? I am not totally against a new phone, but till now I wasn't even thinking about a new phone. Suggestions? Which ICS, or other ROM would you recommend? Thanks all.

I think your car requires the newest bluetooth protocol (4.0), something that is primarily hardware based.
I could be (and hopefully am) wrong here, but the only way to find out is to do a ROM walkabout.
ICS is out right off the bat, as bluetooth was borked in that version (IIRC). You'll need to upgrade to that in the process anyway, as CWM for this device doesn't like drastic changes.
I am biased, but I would try CarbonROM 4.4.4 (the latest, unofficial build) or at the very least CM 10.1. The former would have the best chance of support (being latest firmware available), but it may be overkill for your situation (newer versions = harder on battery life).
So I would try CM 10.1 after stepping up to ICS (having done a full nandroid before all this), and if the car still refuses to connect, try Carbon. Then you may be able to prove me wrong.
Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for your reply.
Being a hardware issue is something I have considered, but not knowing enough to understand why it might work virtually flawlessly for phone and audio streaming in the car, I was hopeful the hardware would support additional Bluetooth profiles, that are added with a new ROM. But then again, I would not be surprised to do the walkabout and end up at the store for a new phone in the end anyway.
I will be looking for an ICS ROM, but it sounds like it doesn't matter which one I use because I won't be staying there?
I have done, and will do again, backups, but I am little unclear on a few things. CWM is on the phone, but I actually used ROM Manager for the flashing I've done. Are they the same thing? It uses CWM. Also, I've seen various references to making sure the phones identity (not sure that's the right term) is saved, and I take that to mean that after flashing the phone may no longer be able to access phone carrier service. Is that a real possibility? And, is it necessary to remove the SD card? Thanks again.

I would recommend Entropy's ICS build, which I have a mirror of, accessed from my signature link.
ROM manager loads CWM (same author, ROM manager is IIRC just the Play Store delivery mechanism for CWM), so once you have CWM, you are good to go for your walkabout.
Yes, you want to make sure to back up your IMEI information first, because that stuff can get lost, which if lost, will deny you access to your carrier. There is a way to retrieve it if lost on this device, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Check the CM10.x thread on instructions how to flash (with links to the IMEI backup).
No need to remove the SD card, but if you don't need it for a flash, I would remove it anyway (or back up it's contents to your PC first - in case in the unlikely event - I'm paranoid about those things - CWM goes a little liberal with the factory reset).
Hope this helps.

Thanks Joel. I have now installed Entropy. Don't know whether everything else is working, but I do know that I can not connect to my wifi. Keep getting "authentication problem." I see that it is a known problem, but I'm not finding a solution. Not quite ready to go the next step (time constraint), so I'm hoping there is a fix, or at least a workaround. Kind of a bummer not having access to wifi. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't worry about it. Entropy is just a step-through (because BlueTooth is broken as well) and there are other ways to get the other ROMs onto the device (if they are not there already) such as adb push or MicroSD + Built-in Filemanager App. Higher versions will have that fixed anyway.
Downloadable CM 10.1

I don't have a lot on my data plan, so I rely on wifi quite a bit. But for now, not a big deal and will try to upgrade asap. No issues with getting the file to the phone, but I am having some difficulty finding a downloadable CM 10.1 (actually it is 10.2), and a gapps file for it. The XDA forum I went to doesn't work and if I go to the mirror site it tells me the file is too big or something and I'm not able to download. Haven't scoured the internet looking for it, thought I might save some time if you know where I can get it. If not, I'm thinking just try the Carbon ROM, assuming I can find it. I know you recommend CM first. George

Hi George,
My signature link contains the CM10.1 ROM (and Gapps) as well. I had problems with CM10.2 back in the day (wouldn't install), so I would recommend 10.1 over 10.2.
My Dropbox may be exhausted for the day (sometimes it gets like that) but I may have a copy on well, Copy, that I could send if necessary. Just let me know if you have problems downloading from my mirror first.

The only link I find (it's the link that says something about development files?) takes me to the XDA CM 10.2 forum where I wasn't able to get it. Maybe I'm just missing it in your signature links. I see references to Carbon and other stuff. George

George,
Each list item has two links....the original source item (thread), and then the dropbox download link (labelled "download") so you are looking for this.
Hope this helps.

DOH! Didn't even see that there were two links. Sorry about that. Think I've got everything now, and can find it again if I need it. Now to do the work. Thanks for your help. Will let you know how it goes. George

Hi Joel,
Got it upgraded to CM 10.1. All seems well. Unfortunately, it did not fix the compatibility problem with messaging and our car, as you correctly suggested might happen. Is there anything about Carbon that gives you reason to think it might work? As I said in the original post, I made some assumptions about the problem (Bluetooth MAP profile based on some reading), and that might be a software fix. But, of course, I may be completely wrong about it. Thanks. George

Hello again George,
Nothing about Carbon in general, but KitKat, yes...
Android 4.4 support for two new Bluetooth profiles to let apps support a broader range of low-power and media interactions. Bluetooth HID over GATT (HOGP) gives apps a low-latency link with low-power peripheral devices such as mice, joysticks, and keyboards. Bluetooth MAP lets your apps exchange messages with a nearby device, for example an automotive terminal for handsfree use or another mobile device. As an extension to Bluetooth AVRCP 1.3, users can now set absolute volume on the system from their Bluetooth devices.

I guess it couldn't stay easy. My attempt to install CARBON (two different download versions) failed, I am getting an error I don't understand.
First, when I go to wipe dalvik I get E: unknown volume for .... (/sd-ext) I can not read it very well because of the background image. Where I put the ... it looks like path.
Then
This ROM uses an imcompatible partition layout
Your /data will be wiped upon installation
Run this update.zip again to confirm install
Then
assert failed: run_program("/tmp/updater.sh") == 0
E:Error in /sdcard/CARBON-KK-NIGHTLY-20141102-0915-infuse4g.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Any ideas what this means? I can reload CM 10.1, so I am not bricked or anything. I appreciate your help.
I did try to get some help from the IRC forum at CARBON, but haven't gotten any replies.

There's this tutorial (section 27), but what may be happening is a drastic change in ROM's for CWM (which falls under what status 7 error scope - along with corrupted IMEI, etc).
My upgrade path long ago (coincidentally) was Stock -> CM9 -> CM10.1 -> Beanstalk 4.4.2 -> CarbonROM 4.4.4.
You can, however cheat, by disabling voodoo lagfix in CWM settings. Otherwise, you may need to find the oldest CarbonROM Kitkat you can grab (4.4.2), to make that last (small) jump to 4.4.4.
If still doesn't work, roll back to CM10.1, make sure everything is order (including calling), and try again.

Thanks again Joel.
I may have to bag this whole project. Must be a little late doing this. Too much time and trouble searching for files that can't be downloaded. I could not find an early CarbonROM KitKat to download. I could not find a BeanStalk to download. I find links that point to a defunct website. I did finally find a CM11 which I did download, but I did not see a gapps file to go with it, unless I can use any 4.4 gapps. Also, when I run CWM there is no reference to lagfix. I appreciate all the help, but I don't want to take any more of your time. George

Hi George,
Any 4.4.2 Gapps will work. I am uploading one right now (along with older Beanstalk and CM11)...
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/smohomrdx0oqn76/AACfrsgXTEHhDmVtwEWj6EA5a?dl=0
...it may take an hour for files to appear, so keep posted, if still interested.
Also, another way to disable voodoo lagfix (if not found in CWM) is to create a folder on internal storage called Voodoo, and then a folder inside that called disable-lagfix.
Hope this helps.

Hi Joel,
Unfortunately, none of these 4.4.x versions will install, same error. And placing Voodoo/lagfix/ folder doesn't seem to work either, same error. If the problem is the jump to the next version is too great, maybe an earlier version of something, 4.2 or earlier? George
ROM Ipioneer Slim 10c v0.1
A light, clean & faster rom!!!

***/
iPioneer Slim 10c v0.1 is a light, clean and fast custom rom designed for the Lg G Pad X 8.0 (T-Mobile variant only) and it's aim is to become a replacement for the default system of this device.
iPioneer Slim 10c v0.1 it is light because it only takes 519.8Mb of disk space which is a big difference when you compare the 1.2Gb of a stock rom, it is clean because it only contains the essential apps to make it work properly and it is faster because the whole system have been 100% optimized.
iPioneer it have been designed with the User Freedom in mind, it only provides you with the basic OS so you can do what you need to do on top of that.
Features:
Based on stock (10c)
Rooted
Busyboxed
Init.d Support
Extremely debloated (very serious)
Deodexed
Zipaligned
Nova as default launcher
Installation instructions:
Download the rom to your desire location (link to download to the end of this post).
Boot into Twrp recovery and do a standard wipe (factory reset).
Install the downloaded rom .zip.
Reboot the device.
Be patient, is going to take more time than a regular stock rom to boot into the system, at first is going to be stuck at T-Mobile logo but after few seconds is going to enter into App Optimization mode and after that you will be able to setup your system.
Enjoy it.
First things to do after you install this rom:
Add your google account (if you didn't complete that step at the first setup).
Download your favorite app manager (Rom Toolbox, Titanium, etc.).
Freeze the application called App Updates in order to stop the system update beacon for OTA. I removed 3 core apps in order to stop OTAs but it seems to be very integrated with the system, there is no way I can remove it from the rom without breaking the system. This is the most practical way to my knowledge right now.
Optionals things to do after you install this rom:
You can uninstall Nova Launcher if you want as is not part of the system apps, but before you need to install your favorite launcher. If you don't install another launcher and remove Nova you will have a broken system and most likely you'll have to re-flash the rom.
On purpose bugs and missing options:
On purpose bugs are bugs that comes when you remove a functionality from the system but it can not be removed from a third party component, example: LG VPN app it has been removed but the options remains in the Settings of the device and when you tap that option you will provoke a crash event, the way to resolve this is to decode the third party component (very difficult) or reinstall the missing part (in this case the LG VPN app).
iPioneer Slim 0.1 it comes without some apps that can not be removed from the system setting options, this is like that because I believe that these apps are not necessary for all people, if someone need them they can be downloaded/replaced from the Play Store or I will provide a flashable file with these apps so you can install them.
On Purpose bugs (located at settings):
From the Share & Connect menu:
File Sharing that contains BLE and Android Beam doesn't work, package SmartShare it has been removed.
Media Server (DLNA) doesn't work, package SmartShare that also contains SmartShare.MediaServer it has been removed.
Lg Airdrive doesn't work, package LGAirDrive & LGAirDriveSettings were removed.
From More>VPN menu:
LG VPN doesn't work, package VpnClient_LG it has been removed. Basic VPN it works.
From Display menu:
Home screen doesn't work, packages LGHome, HomeSelector, LGHome_Theme_Optimus, com.lge.launcher3, com.lge.launcher2.theme.optimus were removed.
If you need these options to be available on your system just download these app on Play Store if they are available or just wait until I have ready the System Apps flashable zips.
Missing options (located at settings):
Smart Cleaning not present, package LGSpringCleaning it has been removed.
Cloud (cloud integration in settings) not present, package CloudHub (maybe dependant on SmartShare package) it has been removed, please also note that this cloud integration it was integrated on the stock File Manager, so... if you want a full integration of the Cloud service on settings maybe you will have to install the stock File Manager provided by LGFileManager package.
From Backup & reset menu:
LG Backup is not present, packages LGBackupLauncher and LGBackup were removed.
From About tablet menu:
Update Center and its content (App updates & System updates) is not present, packages com.lge.appbox.client (app updates), com.lge.updatecenter & LGUpdateCenter (main menu for updates) were removed.
If you need these options to be available on your system just download these app on Play Store if they are available or just wait until I have ready the System Apps flashable zips.Flashable zip with system apps:
Coming soon when I have a free time.
What to do if you get the OTA notification:
Freeze the app called App Updates with your favorite app manager.
With your favorite file manager go to /cache and delete the update.zip (the downloaded ota).
Tap on Restart & Install button on OTA pop-up, the pop-up it will start counting to 0 in order to restart but your device won't restart because there are 3 core apps removed from this rom plus 1 app that you just disabled (all these 4 app controls the OTA), the notification is just gonna disappear, push recent button and clear the ota pop-up window.
Bugs Report:
If you find a bug in this rom just notify me about that in this thread, please, just use the title as "Bug Report" so I can pay close attention to that, my time is very limited. Thank you.
Feature Request:
If you want a feature to be added into future revisions of this rom just notify me about that in this thread, please, just use the title as "Feature Request" so I can pay close attention to that, my time is very limited. Thank you.

How fast does it run compared to the stock rom?

How fast it can go is a subjective matter:
It will depend on hardware lifetime span (how you use it and how other people use this tablet).
It will depend how much apps and content you put in it (the more things you download the more slow android is gonna be, this is kind a Swap area).
I did not do a benchmark, when I declared that is faster than a stock rom is because that speed response enhacement it comes based on the Deodex and Zipalign process. It can be or maybe not noticeable to your eyes but based on deodex and zipalign process is for sure that is faster than an odex and not-zipaligned rom.
The best answer is that you need to try it on your own and see the difference.

Poll added at the beginning (not visible in tapatalk or xda app).
Please only select the apps that you really need or you really think that should comes with the next revision of iPioneer Slim rom.
This will help me to build a better version with features that users needs.
C'mon guys... only 3 users have use the poll...
I need more data background in order to release a new version of the Slim line version (may be the last one).
All V521 users please contribute with this.
Right now I'm testing a new build that it seems to have success stoping ota download and notification & I have removed even more bloat background packages.
As of today I start the syncing process of CyanogenMod for our device, so all I ask is that V521 users vote in the poll so I can build and release what I think it would be the last Slim version (iPioneer Slim 0.2) based on users needs.
Once I start the developtment with CM I will not pay attentions to the Stock & Slim version until I finish with what is gonna become iPioneer CM 13.
Thank you for your attention guys.
BTW: sorry for my english, I try so hard to write all this in a good way. Arriba Mexico Papa!!!

The reason is that the xda app can't see the vote going on.
Personally, I will be excited to see a cm/aosp custom build, which will sure draw much more attention.

Another reason is not many users are interested enough in a slimmed stock rom. The benefits of a slimmed stock rom may include less system storage usage. But the free uped system storage is not accessible for users to use as data storage anyway. Speedwise, I wouldn't expect noticeable improvement from a slimmed stock rom. As a result, the benefits of a slimmed stock rom is not enough to draw users' attention or interest.
I am a flashholic but I actually not interested in slimmed stock at all because I already have root.
I personally advise you to not spend too much time on modified stock rom.
I appreciate your work and look forward to your future possible cm rom, which I will definitely try it out and will draw many g pad x users here. And don't forget there is a bounty for custom roms like cm.

You are right about working in a stock version. The reason why I'm doing this is because we all know that CM most of the time has bugs, bluetooh problems, camera issues, data conectivity troubles, etc...
Sooooo, if the version of CM I'm going to compile it results with many bugs there is gonna be the option to go back to stock slimed or stock bloated.
I can build a CM verion but Im not the kind of guy who inverts his time in CODE MODIFICATION, so hopefully the build it comes with no bugs at all or at least no major bugs.
The other alternative is that I can sync, compile and build and one more guys can do the bug fixes.

Yeah, I know that. Wish me luck.
Right now I'm stuck trying to get the Blobs for this device and compiling the kernel so I can build the CM recovery, once I have the recovery done I can start compiling CM and start testing.
I'm trying to by pass the kernel (as is not need it right now to build the recovery) but for some reason the system is demanding an standard and working kernel... weird...
But honestly speaking is gonna take lot of time. So be patient guys.

Ik, is just a prebuilt because our device doesnt have a device tree or structure already, so making this at first is gonna help me to buil the cm zip.
Is not need it if a device tree already exist but not in this case, just see it like a pretesting of code for this device.
When I try to compile this recovery things are gonna break so you get info of what is missing, what you need, log, etc... So you fix everything you can in this step and then you build the cm.zip in a better way (less issues).

These are your device tree for twrp 4 b3 right?
Let me see if I can work with that, I was almost done building the cm.recovery and fixing some boot.img issues but if I can take your files that would save time.
Did you forked that device tree or u just build it from scratch?
If you forked them, from what device?
I was thinking on pulling the v500 just to figure out some sort of missing info I havent been able to catch from ramdisk.

i built it from scratch, id be careful looking too much at the v500, it's a snapdragon 600 SOC which is very old and is a quad core. the 615 in the g pad x is octacore and much newer. even the ramdisk is going to have big differences in how its handled.

Also, is anyone having issues with their external MicroSD. Though the external MicroSD can be viewed and can browse it, I'm Specifically stating the inability to execute, open, write to, etc...?
I had already sent the issues I'm having along with all my log files to @invisiblek and was curious as to any others experiencing the same/similar issues I experienced.
Thank you all for your time and understanding!
Thank you @invisiblek and other contributors. This is a great rom for this old phone. My DD is a LG G4, again, I went back to that after three Note 7's and all that drama. It's sad when a years old Galaxy S3 is running the latest and greatest but my LG G4 is still on last years Android! Yikes
I'm only using the SGS3 as a Wifi device so I can't comment on Cell radio functions but it's very smooth and seems markedly faster than when I was last using it as a DD. The only issue I've had and it may not even be related to this rom... I wanted to use Chainfire's PryFi to stick it to Kohls and Walmart that use WiFi Mac trackers, but when I launch PryFi and turn it on, it almost immediately crashes no matter what I do. Wipe cache, dalvik, reset and I get the same thing.
Thanks for the great work. Much appreciated!
@invisiblek, I'm reading elsewhere that the CM14.x should be installed first, then after the setup is accomplished, reboot back in to the recovery, then flash the GApps package.
Is this correct?
I just wanted to be sure in regards to the unconventional method of flashing the CM and the GApps together then reboot.
But, as you may know, after installing the 2 conventionally, I'm having trouble with the Play Store as well as the External MicroSD after setup.
I'd really appreciate your confirmation.
Thanks a Bunch!

I had a problem installing the first time - I put build+Open GApps Aroma in the que and when the Aroma install was supposed to come up everything went black but the phone was still on. I flashed one and then the other without booting and it booted into initial setup normally.
But, I created a Nandroid with TWRP 2.8.7.0 and tried to restore the last Unofficial 14.1 build nandroid that worked normally but I couldn't get the sim card to work. Same when I tried to restore the new official. I tried numerous different ways to hold my mouth but it would never mount the SIM and settings was crapped out. I was able to restore my last MM nandroid and have it work normally. I've just switched to the latest TWRP 3.x.x.x. Don't know if that has anything to do with it....
I'm clean installing the new official again! It got stuck on boot (wrong boot animation, too) but pulling the batt and restarting, it went normally. (My Tibu settings were in the /data wipe. Gotta mount one and pull them )

Thank you for your response!
I always had the latest TWRP 3.0.2-0 installed.
I flashed the CM14.1 20161207, Open GApps Pico 20161207 and, at first, SuperSU 2.78 Stable then when I retried a fresh install, i used SuperSU 2.78 SR5.
The same issues occurred (primarily) with the Play Store not being able to access the Internet the Internet and being able to see everything on my External MicroSD but, still not being able to read, write, move copy, install, etc...
I did see, during the initial bootup where you have the initial setup of CM & Google, the Google setup went fine but, I did notice that the carrier name reflected "no service" or "unknown" or something similar. I had ventured in to the network settings and did see everything needed in there so I didn't give it another thought.
To be honest, my opinion is that i really don't think that the release of the OFFICIAL CM14.1 Nightly was not ready yet.
I had to E-mailed @invisiblek the list of issues along with the installation log files from both the CM14.1 and the GApps but, I haven't even received an acknowledgement of at least a thank you.
@invisiblek is listed as the primary point of contact for Cyanogenmod and other than e-mailing him along with posting the issue here to his attention, I'm not sure how else to report any issues/feedback to Cyanogenmod... Cyanogenmod doesn't really pay attention to their own forums that has resulted in most individuals not even bothering with posting anything there anymore.
I'm personally going to put CM14.1 on hold till there's either some indication of improvement or finding some information reflecting my issues with some fixes, tryouts, solutions, etc...
I'm real disappointed with this...

I'll attempt to try to help with some of the issues here, as I have direct contact with invisiblek pretty much daily. First I will start off with a few questions, NOT poking, just asking, this also may address some previous posts as well... You have a verizon SCH-I535 correct, and not another variant? Just making sure. And to start you wiped data in TWRP (wipe to install new ROM option basically). Told it to flash your 12/07 build? Did you ADD the "opengapps 7.1 ARM Pico" build to the multiple flash option, or did you flash rom, then go back in and flash opengapps? After it rebooted, it sometimes takes a while to get the setup to actually start and display, sometimes it goes to a black screen for minutes, but be patient, it will come.. At that point in time, it will initialize sim card and be connected, as this was my experience on all 3 of my S3 phones in my household. Then proceed through setup...
Is your external card formatted as "portable storage", or is it formatted as "Adopted storage". Also what type of filesystem do you have the card formatted with? What file manager are you using to try to access your card with? There was some expected changes that might have to be worked out as the "unofficial" roms were running Selinux in permissive mode, and the "official" roms are running it in Enforcing mode. That is bound to cause some small differences in the way the 2 roms behave. Also, I need to ask why you are trying to install SuperSU on a rom that already has Root (and the ability to manage it) built into the rom? There might be some issues being caused by that in itself.
I know that personally BusyBox (I rely on it daily) will NOT install on the official for me, but installs fine on the unofficials. Also, I have had limited luck with the built in file manager. I have used ES File Explorer forever, and it continues to behave well on this rom. Also, even if you are going to nandroid back and forth between official and unofficial, it is best to do a wipe of DATA before the nandroid... As far as the play store goes, I haven't experienced any lack of connectivity. I do get very small intermittent blips where it seems like it isn't connected for a second or 2, but it is very rare, and it has always been like that as far as I can remember.. Part of the reason that is for me is because I use a network extender, and it has always been the achilles heel with CM.
Try going into TWRP, do the "wipe to install new rom", add the cm zip, and ALSO add the latest "Opengapps arm 7.1 pico or micro" (your choice) build into the zip queue so that they are flashed in succession. Let it rip, and see if that offers you any different results. After you get it initially setup, go into developer options and enable root as needed. Give it a run and see what issue are still present, if any. I am surprised to hear some of these issues, as between myself, my kids, and a handful of friends, everyone is super stoked at how well these early builds are running... I myself have less than 3 reported issues from friends that we are looking into, and they are all just cosmetic bugs so far... I will be glad to try to help in any way possible..
P.S. There have been quite a few things resolved/changed between TWRP 2.8.7.0 and 3.0.2-0, I would highly suggest not only upgrading to the latest TWRP version, but also making sure you are on the firmware versions that are mentioned in the OP.

Okay... I tried to sort out and answer all the questions the best i could.
I also attached the log files. They are dated according to the Nightly releases.
Q: You have a verizon SCH-I535 correct, and not another variant?
A: Yes. I have an SCH-I535.
Q: And to start you wiped data in TWRP (wipe to install new ROM option basically).
A: 1) Factory Reset. 2) Wipe Dalvik, Data, Internal Storage, Cache and System. 3) Format Data. Then Restart Recovery back to TWRP.
Q: Told it to flash your 12/07 build?
Did you ADD the "opengapps 7.1 ARM Pico" build to the multiple flash option, or did you flash rom, then go back in and flash opengapps?
A: Install and select CM14.1 12/07 build then the Open GApps 7.1 ARM Pico. To add... I tried flashing the 2 above only, then tried the same 2 above with SuperSU 2.78 Stable, lastly the 2 above with SuperSU 2.78 SR5. All resulted with the same issues.
Q: Is your external card formatted as "portable storage", or is it formatted as "Adopted storage".
A: Portable Storage.
Q: Also what type of filesystem do you have the card formatted with?
A: VFAT
Q: What file manager are you using to try to access your card with?
A: Stock & ES File Explorer Pro
Q: Also, I need to ask why you are trying to install SuperSU on a rom that already has Root (and the ability to manage it) built into the rom?
A: I'm aware of the stock root manager but, i've always preferred SuperSU's root management.
I really appreciate your assistance and please don't hesitate to defer to @invisiblek if necessary.
Also, please keep in mind that I'm not in a race. Take your time because patience is a virtue...
Thank you very much!!!
I wonder if the GApps issue is the underlying issue. I hope @MastahF & @Rapper_skull is aware of and working on it?

I know this may sound funny but I've had this EXACT response from clean installs using the tiny GApps packages. Try one of the larger ones or the Aroma installer. (I know it's annoying if you want to keep all that crap off your phone ...)
As I said, I installed without using the qeue. I also wiped Dalvik/cache AFTER the installations, as per the OpenGApps instructions.
Oh, and my phone is purring like a kitten with 12/7 on it! XD
PS - Except for that dang restore issue. Scared to try it again but I gotta try it again eventually.

I have the same version as well. I go to the store, click install on the Pro version. It installs just fine... I then go in and open the program, it immediately asks for the needed root permissions, which I promptly give it, then I close the welcome message. When I actually then click install from within the program, it then tries to install for about 2 seconds and then says "oops, it looks like the installation was unsuccessful, maybe try a different location"....
Who knows....
Other than that, I agree, purring like a kitten!

I had the same problem with Nano. If you're gonna spend the time to do it, go big. Bigger rather than smaller.

There was a member in the GApps thread who had mentioned that he had a similar issue.
He stated that what worked for him was flashing a GApps Pico package on from about 30 days ago.
I believe that others had to flash their GApps packages from about 30 days ago had worked for them.
I know that this is an issue for many others who also reported it to the Dev(s).
I can't think of what in the world is going on...
