Well guys after a really hard think i have decided to move on from the 3D scene.. No offence to anyone but i am never going to get a LG mobile ever again...
It was great to be here i have learned a lot in the last few months like, ubuntu, java C++, logcat and various other instruments needed to make and develop roms.. It is a shame that Lg did not support this brilliant piece of hardware.. It would of went far..
I am sorry that i couldn't make you guys ICS i really tried i gave up 4 weeks of my life to no avail rofl.. Trust me the hardest phone ever when it comes to making a original source rom. I appreciate what Ricardo and his team does for us..
Any way i am giving my phone away to my brother and and getting my good old desire back. I will wait till i receive my Samsung Galaxy SIII can't wait..
Thank you guys for everything i really appreciate the community we had here will miss you all.. And thanks to everyone who devs all you hard work was a great way for everyone to learn...

I've literally ended up in a shouting rage at this phone at least three times in the last week. I actually depend on it and cannot deal with the inadequacies it has any longer.
I do love the 3d screen and camera but when you cant record even 2d video that doesnt glitch and stop/stutter whats the point?
LG have been a massive dissappointment and i refuse to wait another 6 months for a software update that i am skeptical will solve any problems if it even happens.

I know how you feel man i normally stay the full 2 year contract or the full contract this one however i cannot deal with any more.. And i am sick of making it work.. I wish LG started doing something about it.. They should consider doing something about it if they want more customers in the future..

I heart from friend of mine, that LG change O3D when people do the complain about GC for LG Prada - does anyone do this?!
That was one case actually. The guy got it back from the warranty with the note that the issue is unrepairable and they suggested to change the phone to the different model. The op gave him the choice to change to the other lg phone. But prada is more expensive, and i doubt operators do it often.

he said a rep from lg came in and said all the phones with a dw under the batt came from one factory and the screen is known to bleed and the dwp was the newer model phone made after they fixed there f up.....and made the new ones in a diffrent factory...............

Doubt it, because several users received DWP models... They were refurbs.

You should consider yourself lucky. No other 2X variant worldwide has received Gingerbread yet. They are still stuck on Froyo.
Hope you enjoy it, because I have been on 2.3.7 for the past three weeks. The only updates that I need to know about now are from the CyanogenMod team.

I'm leaving the skyrocket. Regretfully. Had to switch to my wife's Verizon shared plan. So I sold my skyrocket. It sucks. You just are great. Best forum on xda. I appreciate everyone's great attitude and wish you guys the best. Doc j is the man journal will have greats developments for this phone. And I'm glad I was a part of the best community on xda ill still be around to help answer questions. But am now stuck with the thunderbolt. Which sucks I really want the nexus. But can not afford the 299 price as my car just took a dump. Both differentials and the transmission went out so I had no choice in this switch. The thunderbolt is junk. So I'm stuck unless someone wants to donate me a galaxy nexus or droid razar lol. Haha. Its been fun folks.

sorry to hear this I have really enjoyed you being here. Don't worry about the thunderbolt, you will tweak that one to a better state, and get something better later when things settle, we both know that.

holy carp...how much torque were you running? I was at 370/390 (ish) when one of my ringlands cracked...tried driving it home and well..I should have had it towed.

Well this sucks.
Thanks for apparently being the only one with the sense to perform a system dump after the ota update...my work would not be so distinguished with out that effort. ? what exactly is wrong with your phone. I'm using phoenix blood ROM and I love this phone. Its so smooth and i can do everything i need to do. even people with iphone are jealous.
you guys needa quit being so moralistic with these corporations they screwed us on this phone multiple times and tmobile was trying to pack up and dip on us anyway and hand us over to ATnT so if the dude wants what he paid for what he thinks he deserves let him do it not like LG or Tmobile are going to go bankrupt from it or even care that one dude beat the system .. if anything i hope you do beat the system and get it cause they're some grimmey people for real
See I have nothing wrong with my phone. My phone runs great on weapon and faux's kernal. My mothers phone is being buggy though, or either she is technologically deficient. I also was hoping that the phone i was going to get was going to be supported for a while considering the fantastic specs. Anyway alot can happen in 2 years. We are most likely to see an ics port.

Personally i dont like phoenix blood. Once you use weapon, you can't go anywhere else. I am in love with the toggles and the fonts are not too tacky. Everything just works.

Agreed. You're robbed on a monthly basis from TMo. My line on a family plan is $60 a month for services that literally cost the company nothing. They could charge a fraction of that price and still make a profit margin > 100%. On top of that, TMo tried to dump a faulty device on their customers knowing full-well it had hardware problems. Don't feel bad; take everything you can from corporations and don't look back. They would (and DO) do the same to you.
I've had my share of bad experience with my G2X. Recently on kang's nightlies, I notice gps locks instantly. I've been very happy with my phone for a long time.
My one issue still remains, and its emails on stock app don't sync after 10 hours. If I can find a fix i'd be happy and giddy.
I am pretty sure the email issue doesn't exist on stock cooked 2.3.3 roms but I'm too accustomed to cm7 and the built in notifications. I refer cm7.
There are black screen of death I get but, I get by. Email just drives me mad.
More support for this phone either from T-Mobile or LG will be great. Can't complain now that I'm running BP n supercharger v6 nothing is wrong. Maybe GPS not locking fast enough but is way better than an iPhone.... can't say that I don't want ics cuz i do.... btw if u do get to beat the system I'd like to know how. Cuz I'm 1 month away from leaving T-Mobile and refuse to get 2 yr contract with them

Unfortunately I have sold my O3D..will miss it alot it is really a great device and a wonderful machine..I recommend it for everyone even of it's less fortunate bugs and somehow slow mo development,but it's really something new and wonderful,I liked it and sure u will too!
no reason for changing the phone other than the will to change and explore new device..six months are enough for me...will miss u and come to see what's going on from time to time..thank u for ur support and appreciate every help u gave to me..PEACE

I won't...hehehehe I hate those bands nothing personnel though..thinking more like XPERIA S..or HTC ONE X..although it's huge in fact..
the HTC One X needs to be tested more for faults..my friend had for two days and didn't like it and returned it..he says random reboots and lag in the camera!
Hoping 3D phones don't die out, I don't ever want a 2D phone again

Hey everyone, It has come time for me to leave. As much fun as it has been in here for the last year plus, it is time for me to move on. I have noticed that a lot of our core group has really been moving on as well.
I will forward the information on how to fix the boot sequence for the CM based ROMs to alteredlikeness so that he can put that into the next builds for his CM based work.
I will still be in and out once in a while, and I will still be on IRC and help out the other devs in the background, but I will not be hanging out in here everyday as I have been. I have put my Atrix2 up for sale, and I am in the process of getting a galaxy nexus to run the new ubuntu phone OS on, and I am going to switch to working only on that for dev work for the time being.
It has been great and I wish everyone the best of luck and best wishes.

Yeah this was a really hard decision, and after thinking on it for most of the holidays and then Ubuntu making their announcement, I knew that is what I was really after, and where I really would LOVE to spend my free time.
I am in no way abandoning you or anyone here, and I will still answer my PMs, because I will still be participating on XDA, I will just be focusing on the ubuntu phone OS instead. As I said I will still hang out in our IRC rooms and check in here every so often, but I am sure it will be less and less as time goes on.

I am hoping to see some of you guys on the Ubuntu side of the fence soon. I saw several people note that they were excited, and a used Galaxy Nexus is not very expensive right now, and it has an HSPA+ radio just like this phone, so.... it should be pretty close, but that it is more like the SGS3 in hardware, and it is fully unlocked like the SGS3. I am also keeping the SGS3 and going to work to get that on Ubuntu too, so for those that have that phone too, I will still see some of you over there, with hopefully some great ubuntu work that I will be doing.
I decided this after my last attempt at killing the bootloader on this phone frustrated me so much, and the fact that I have 2 devices that are unlocked right now that I can do anything I want with, that this was my only real reason for doing this (freedom).
I have also noticed that the dynamic has changed in here as of late, and that just gave me the extra push to move forward.
Again, you all have fun and keep the good stuff flowing in here and I will speak to everyone soon I hope.

I recently purchased 2 lapdocks to use with my Raspberry Pi. While waiting for my HDMI adapters to show up from China [still waiting], I got bored and bought an atrix2 this past weekend and was excited to find that you had done some great work with WebTop.
Sadly my atrix2 was already OTA ICS as I was stoked to have a real desktop OS running on this phone. However, I understand the need to move on.
Looks like I'll need to pick up a Galaxy Nexus soon!
I think it's a wise move on your part.. all of us, and especially you, are limited by Moto's lockdown.. and I too am really looking forward to Ubuntu for phones.. they are going to change things and contribute to mobile OS's in a big way. Good things will come of this, and I will definitely be joining you in dev'ing it in the future...
Without being too dramatic - we will keep pushing forward with the foundation that basically you alone put together here.. until we all eventually move on to other devices... sigh.. everything's so fleeting..

Motorola pretty much made it impossible to do anything proper with this phone, which is sad because hardware wise it's about as solid as they come. It's been an uphill fight since day one, and we couldn't have had a better fighter for our cause. Like many others, I want to say thank you for helping us along keeping this phone up to par. I'm due for an upgrade, so I'm sure I'll be bugging you in another forum before you know it. :laugh: Thanks Jim.

I saw that ubuntu, why not get a nexus4, I guess its as unlocked as the galaxy nexus is?
I dont understand it myself why they used it on the demo vid.

The bootloader will never be unlocked, Jim was the only real hope it would ever be unlocked.
Sucks we aren't getting liquefied jelly beans, you said give it a couple weeks...

There might still be one or two things I have hidden up my sleeve that I may still release soon.
As far as the bootloader goes, yeah that is not getting unlocked. I tried for a little more than a year. I know when to finally call it quits. I really had a good one there with the rootkit and booting off the sdcard, but there were still checks that moto has for that too, so....
As I said earlier in this thread, my time in here is going start to taper off slowly and over time I will just fade off into the sunset... LOL.

Hey, what happened with kexec? I never tried it as you said it hard bricks the a2.. I do remember seeing a thread where you said it was working and we just need c coders now.. if kexec dosent hard brick, I guess a little can be ported from RAZR.. also now that retail phones have jb, maybe we can use the boot img from it for att phones as well..

Porting does not work on the A2. We have NEVER been able to successfully port any ROMS to the A2, but don't let me stop you from trying, if you can get it too boot and all the hardware and a kernel working, more power to you! I gotta say that would be pretty sweet, but since we have figured out the secret of compiling and using our kernel as a base, and compiling open source roms like that, we/you can have any roms you basically want now, with the stock kernel still on the phone.
Yes kexec works, since I helped with kexec. There was a post that I did post about it. We do not have any ROMS that take advantage of it though.
