[Q] Wifi antenna issue? - Motorola Atrix 2

hey folks,
So I took my A2 to AT&T last week because the external speaker would be fine, then distort and then just cut out. VERY inconvenient when you use it as a GPS and it stops talking to you while you're on an unfamiliar highway at night (wound up a good 9 miles past my turn off.) I had a 2.3.5 original A2 and they replaced it with a 2.3.6 refurb A2. Since I've gotten this new one I'm noticing my Wifi connection is either much weaker than my previous unit or the meter on the notification bar is way off. Anyone else experience this? I'm wondering if I need to either get this one replaced again or if it's just the meter's display is slightly different in reporting strength.

If it is not a problem, as in it still goes plenty far, I would not worry about it. you are more likely to waste your time with att and not get anywhere otherwise. believe me, I was mad that I got a stuck pixel on my screen only a week after buying my phone and ATT refused to replace it. There is no point arguing with them. when my contract is up I am so going to verizon or sprint.

Well I called AT&T and their folks were really helpful. Granted their tech support folks really only know how to read from a script, but they agree with me that the problem is the hardware so a new one is being shipped out.
Little more into: I loaded up wifi analyzer and checked the signal strength. In the same room as my WiFi router I was getting -70 dBm signal where with my laptop I am getting -25. I'm guessing that this refurb phone was not put together correctly.

Yeah.. it's a hardware defect. Although it may be just a defect in the signal reader. Meaning does the connection dropout often? If it doesn't you might be still getting a good connection it's just your phone (and therefore you) thinks it has a low signal.

Really? AT&T has always been nice to me. I got the A4G, and then precisely 31 days later the A2 came out. Even though their free return policy lasts 30 days they let me upgrade for free (because they have a 60 upgrade police for iPhones and the rep I talked to was pro-Android ). Then a couple days later I got a new A2 because my first one had a dead (not stuck) pixel.

Good to hear you're getting a new one; hopefully it won't have that problem. It definitely does sound like a hardware issue, unless it's a problem with your router. Did your original A2 cooperate fine with the router?

I was wondering the same thing but I would have my phone and my wife's side by side with the wifi analyzer open and she was getting FAR better strength than me. I drop connection all the time too. Hopefully the new one os better.

General ATT Warranty Question

I can't seem to find a straight answer on Google for this. My phone's wifi is randomly disconnecting from my home network. I'll connect it, 3 hours later it's on 4G. I go to my "Wireless and Network Settings" and Wifi is enabled, as soon as I go to "Wi-Fi Settings" it reconnects to my network. It's just a hassle. Also, my speaker will randomly sound like utter ****. As if the treble was boosted 50db. Sometimes during the middle of my phone ringing. It goes from my normal ring tone "deedle deedle doo" to "BLEEDLEBLEEDLEBLOOD." Now, both of these issues are intermittent so I would have no real way of showing a rep in person unless it was coincidentally. Also, I have a slight dent on two corners of my phone, but both of these issues occurred before the cosmetic damage. How would I go about getting ATT to replace my phone? I've heard it's free, then I read the policy on my $8/mo insurance and it said $120 or something, idk.
I think your best bet is to call AT&T and see what they say. If you're within 30 days of purchase just take it to where ever you bought it. If not, they you should go though AT&T.
I am not within the 30 days.
As for your wifi problem, I believe you have the "Night time battery saver" which at night hours (or so) it will turn off the wifi when the phone is not being used, and as soon as you unlock the screen the wifi will turn on automatically.
Hello
I work for at&t. I can tell you this any phone you buy from Att ( cept the iPhone) has a one year warranty. It doesn't matter how many scratches your phone may have really. As long as your screen isn't cracked and you haven't spilled liquid on it Att will replace it.
Now if youve had the phone for more than 30 days. You can't return it to the store. You have to get a warranty exchange via customer service over the phone. So dial 611. Tell them your phone won't connect to wifi, they will ask you to format the phone tell them you already have, and in 2 to 3 days you'll have a shiny new atrix 2.
Hope that helps.

Sorry left something out. Do not do an insurance claim. Just do the warranty exchange. Insurance is really only meant for if you broke your phone or lost it.

I talked to ATT warranty services today. They tried telling me that both issues were caused by a degrading cell tower 25 miles from my location. What does that have to do with my phone not being able to hold Wifi and my speaker sounding gargly? And my phone works fine on the mobile network. She said she would send my phone an OTA update and firmware update and I'd get a call Monday. Coincidentally that same day they said this cell tower would be fixed. Haven't gotten it any updates. And no I'm not on night time battery saver. It happens during the day as well, periodically.

Have I tried what?
The first two weeks I had this phone there were no problems. I have a 360 and 3 iPhones connected to this router as well with no issues.
Well, then you should exchange your phone.
There is a post somewhere here that says A2 is not compatible with 5ghz or something like that. Try using Wifi Analyzer and figure out if your neighbor's router is running on the same channel as your router. Crowded channels = drop. I'm also having problem with Auto Connect feature, but it connects after 10 mins of being in the house. Once I'm connected though I never get a dropped Wifi. It would help if you post the manufacturer and model number of your router.
About the speakers yeah A2 is not built for music enthusiast. My speakers mumbles when i put someone on speaker at full volume lol. I think reviews of the A2 mention something about the speakers not on par with the A1.
After a couple weeks without much trouble, my connection to my home wifi started getting really hit or miss. Tons of disconnects, Atrix wifi antenna just turning itself off, etc. finally tonight I dusted off an old wifi router I had taken back from my parents and hooked it into my Live Wire network (power line networking) on the other side of the house from my existing router. Haven't had a drop in a while now. First router might be hickey, or dying, or the Atrix just wasn't handling a weak signal well.

I had this issue with mine and exchanged within the 30 days. I generally add in that it's rebooting often even after a factory reset. That usually makes the exchange foolproof.

That's my question, since I'm passed the 30 days, is it free? Because with Sprint even when I paid insurance like I am now it was ~$100 to replace a smartphone.

My router is actually brand new. We're in the employee testing for Cox Communication's new Docsis 3.0 routers, and again, it worked fine for about 2 weeks with this same router.

Cool, I'll try throwing that in there as well!
have you tried going to the at&t store to show them what is wrong with your phone so you don't have to explain everything over the phone. They took my phone before and exchanged right at the store ^_^
Try to boost your wifi, check this out http://www.labnol.org/internet/extend-wifi-wireless-network-range/13534/ not a detailed explaination but i hope that helps.
To test your wifi - try to stay within 6 feet range with out any blockage to see if you will get disconnected - if you get disconnected then go to att store and replace ^_^
Ok again. Its free to do a warranty exchange. you have a year to do it. Try calling customer service again. I know it may sound strange but give them less information next time. I wouldn't mention anything about garbled call quality or anything like that, because they are trained to automatically assume there is an issue with either your SIM or a tower nearby.
Next time you call only mention that your phone won't connect to wifi and you've already done a hard reset. Explain that you want a warranty replacement. Like I said it may be backward but the less information you give the better so essentially they can't create a situation where they will tell you its a network issue and not your device (because it sounds like your phone to me.)
The only time you're charged for a replacement phone is when its an insurance issue which is another matter entirely. Like I said in post before as long as your screen isn't cracked and your liquid indicator isn't red ( the little square sticker under your battery it should still be white.) Then Att will replace the phone free of charge.

The only thing is he's mentioned that he's had this particular phone for more than 30. In store we don't have the ability to exchange a phone outside of 30 days (unless the store also happens to have a warranty device center connected to it which is rare.) So most likely he has to have it exchanged over the phone via CS.

Yea, I figured as much about the less is more theory. They're suppose to call me in a few hours, if they don't I'll call them and use this method. I appreciate all the help. No screen cracks and the water damage indicator is white. I should be good!
And to clarify, the insurance covers it in cases where the screen is cracked, water damage, lost/stolen, etc? Basically anything that would be my fault.
Also, physically, how does the exchange work?

Weak Wifi Signal Hardware Fault

Hi all,
Over on the international One X forum, we have a lot of people confirming a serious hardware fault where the wifi contact pins fail to connect to the antenna.
I am curious if this fault affects your s4 at&t version of the phone too.
There is a simple squeeze test you can do to check for the fault.
See the link here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688538
Fingers crossed your not affected by it.
Oliver
*EDIT* HTC have confirmed the issue only affects the international HOX and the feedback this thread received seems to prove them correct. Great news. *EDIT-END*

This applies to the AT&T and Rogers One X. If your phone has signal gain when you press on the wifi antenna area of the case, it's defective and will eventually lose connection completely over time, so get it replaced on warranty.
That's not what he was saying, he was just wondering if we had the issue. I can't get mine to drop below full signal with.WiFi, unless I go for a walk outside. So it isn't effexting my phone.

Have you been affected by the issue?

my question is, how do we know when our phones will start acting up? Even if we exchange the phone, then there's still the likelihood that the new phone'd also have problems. Unless, HTC already has made some design changes to the newly imported batch (doubt it)
p/s: I have also not seen wifi issues with my phone. But I'll give it some more observations. Then again, I exchanged a HOX before because it couldn't keep a constant signal. So who knows..

It may not affect s4 versions at all, it is currently confirmed to affect the international version of the One X, I want to see if other phones are affected too.
The mostly likely causes of the problem are 1. Overheating and 2. The wifi connection pins getting squashed flat whilst your phone is in your pocket.

If reception is poor and improves when you push the case where wifi antennas are placed, you have a defective unit and you should get a replacement immediately.
damn i just sent my phone in for repairs because of a camera issue. i was experiencing the wifi signal drop prior to sending it in, but thinking it was a software problem. now, when i get my phone back ill most likely have to send it in again for repairs.
I believe our phones have the sam issue, when I press down I believe I do have an increased signal. Thanks for the heads up :/

It did increase my signal as well. It was struggling to connect where gnex used to have no problems and this corrected it.

I was having the same problem with my ATT HTC One X.
I couldn't connect in places where my iPhone had 2 (out of 3) bars of wifi.
Unfortunately, it was a big enough deal to send the phone back. I thought they all did this.
If I don't have best wifi performance enabled my wifi is very flaky. It'll lose connection when it has full bars. But with best wifi on it can get about what I can get with my gsii (slightly worse)
Ugh... This isn't a thread about whether the phone has flakey WiFi, it's about whether you can make your WiFi signal change if you squeeze the phone.
For what its worth, mine doesn't seem to change if I lightly squeeze it. I dont really feel like pressing it hard enough to f up the screen though, so maybe you'll have different results...

You don't have the fault then, if you had it you'd get 0-1 bars only around 8 meters away from your router with no walls between, whilst other phones enjoy full bars at that distance. Light squeeze the antenna part of the phone and the reception indicates full bars.
This fault affects bluetooth and battery performance too. It is really bad for anyone who has it. I'm glad you don't have it, but please, Don't make out that this is normal behaviour when squeezed.
My other thread has had 15000 views 200 comments. 7 different YouTube videos from 6 different members of xda forums, 7 self repair guides by 7 of our members taking their phones apart (all confirming it fixed their wifi) and countless people returning their phones for repair.
I only started the thread on 4 days ago. The popularity of the thread indicates what a serious issue it is on the international One X. If your s4 One X's don't suffer the issue or not as bad, it might give us a clue to what is wrong with ours.
Send from my old trusty Desire, untill I get my poorly One X back.
My phone was shipped to HTC for repair a week ago before I knew of this issue. When I saw this thread it made complete sense. My glass in one corner was separated from the actual device enough that light from the screen escaped out of it. I had absolutely no wifi. Still waiting to hear what HTC says. They received the phone a couple days ago. I'll report back on what they say about this.
Does anyone know if the new batch is any better?

I just bought mine yesterday and it seems to have pretty good wifi reception. It can detect almost every network in range that my laptop detects but shows a weaker signal for them. Connects to my own wifi with full bars when close and loses a connection in the same area of the house that my galaxy note did. So I'd have to say the new batch have no wifi issues that I'm aware of.

Had to give you a thanks, I didn't even know there was a best wifi option! I just checked the wifi setings and it's off. So this is my normal signal strength. I just checked best wifi and one of the signals it picked up was stronger. Mine is a full signal so I can't tell the difference. My daughter's room is the worst reception but it's 1:30AM so I won't test it on best right now.

On my second S3, and its also broken...

How many of you have had to return your S3 due to out of box defects? My first one would chronically overheat, had low signal, miserable 3g speeds (I know they're pretty miserable anyway), awful battery life, and would consistently drop my wifi signal at home.
Now, I'm on my second device. This one doesn't hold a much better signal, and worse yet, I have a very random screen glitch where it shows digital artifacts on some screens, and sometimes it actually flashes and randomly blinks at me, very much like a PC with a bad graphics card. Unfortunately it doesn't do I consistently either.
Am I just the luckiest person alive to get two of these that are bad straight out of the box?
I feel like a dbag taking this one back after I already took the first one back with issues. Especially since the graphics thing is so intermittent.

Sorry to hear that man. The only issue mine has is with very dark Grey screens it shows small black splotches on the screen, otherwise never there and I've looked closely
Otherwise 3G is slow (200kbps or so) but bearable. No other major issues, battery holds a 6.5hr charge with constant use and screen on basically non stop stock battery
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
On my second one, the first one had a Bluetooth issue. When connected to any BT device it would crackle randomly. The second one had issues out of the box. Same as you, connection was horrible. Even in the same locations and apps, the first one seemed to connect well. I ended up doing several factory resets and now it seems better. My local vzw store was convinced enough to give me a third, but after it settled down I figured that I'd just keep this one. There is something weird about these phones. The connection is worse than my thunderbolt. The battery is all over the place (due to the radio I'm sure). We'll see I guess

Yeah, it sucks for sure, he phone has so much potential if it worked properly.
I dumped att for Verizon at the same time, and my 14/days are up today. Ill likely port back to att, and wait to see what happens with LTE here.
3G alone is just unbearable on VZ.

This is something to do with the phone, not verizon. I said in another thread they need to fix these cell issues asap. My old phone got 3 MBs down and up, this one gets less then 1 on both. 4G is fine but I don't live in 4G area, unless I literally walk a street away...:silly: Start calling and reporting this stuff to customer service. I've been doing this everyday.
Complaining on a forum does not fix the issues.
My first one had the USB port randomly go bad. Returned it in the first 14 days. This second unit is working ok though there seems to be a spec of dust or something under the screen that drives me slightly insane.
Radios have not been samsungs strong points. Wifi essentially does not work until I turn off power save which is a pita and resets after reboot. My rezound never had issues even with wifi on power save

Samsung radios have always sucked, Samsung is known for this.
My Rezound had a far better radio than either my current G3 or my Wifes Droid Charge (& the POS Nexus I had briefly was even worse).
Calling customer service doesn't fix "service" issues either, not to mention I don't have time to be on the phone with CS telling them how my service sucks every day. Not to mention that my gf can have full service, the Xoom has full service, and this phone has 3 bars if lucky, along with abysmal download speeds. Its as bad as Sprint with this phone. This doesn't seem to be Verizon isolated either, as local US Cellular customers have also been complaining of slow speeds and bad reception.
I don't even know what else Verizon has that I'd consider. Just sucks, because the phone is very nice.

i returned my gs3 suposedly due to factory defect but i knew it was my fault, and it had 3 dents on it from me dropping it lol... after flashing roms with k-exec so many times, i managed to change the network type to 3g only and the best buy rep couldn't figure out how to get it to connect to 4g. I know how i could of fixed it with phone info from android market but thats after the fact.... So he replaced with a brand new pebble blue 16g gs3 and it was updated to vrlg1 rather the older version. I was greatfull plus i added black tie protection and purchased buy back before they ended the program :fingers-crossed::good:

I am still not convinced this is the case. I also have a rezound. They report the signal differently and what I've noticed is that it seems like the Samsung phone because of the way it reports the signal assumes the signal is worse before the rezound does and kicks to 3G sooner.
I don't know if it can be changed so it holds 4G longer, but back when I had an evo 4G with wimax you could tell the phone to hold the signal longer than default and I'd get wimax in my house when default settings would kick me immediately to 3G when I walked through the front door.
So I don't think the phone has terrible radios just that if you rated the 4G signal on a scale of 1-20 with 20 being the worst reception, that the rezound will hold 4G until it hits 18-19 and switch to 3G and the GSIII cuts out at 12-13 and there for where I have signal with my rezound, I could have it with the GSIII, other than it decides to dump the signal.

i returned my gs3 suposedly due to factory defect but i knew it was my fault, and it had 3 dents on it from me dropping it lol... after flashing roms with k-exec so many times, i managed to change the network type to 3g only and the best buy rep couldn't figure out how to get it to connect to 4g.

I work at best buy geek squad. It's not called black tie anymore it's called geek squad protection. Black tie was always the dumbest **** I ever heard. Also buy back is staying for mobile phones forever. The rest of the store got rid of it though cause it was a ripoff LOLOL

was never called black tie, it was Geeksquad Black Tie protection, Which if you are part of the actual Geeksquad culture, made perfect sense. It just doesn't relate well to your average person.
Also, Buyback is still a plausable rip off. If you are lazy, then it makes sense to get it. I will use my rezound as an example though. Best Buy has the phone in the system for 650. In the first six months I would get back 325 back. If you held the phone like I did for 9 months, you'd get 40% of the phone back, so 260 dollars. Not counting that after 10 months it is 30%. If I sold my phone on swappa, ebay, what have you, including my extended battery, I could get about that much, or more, without having to pay an initial fee to get the ability to get that money back.
Also, people are stupid, and phones that are already s-off, and with a rooted rom sell for more money. Best buy doesn't trade in the extended battery, and it being s-off'd would kill its value, if the tech doing the trade in even knew how to check for that.
My S3 was working great until this week (right after the 14 days return window). Now WiFi is dropping, 4G is running at worse than 3G speeds, phone randomly shuts off, apps that worked fine previously now crash / lock the phone on a black screen. I hope I can just swap this back out for my Thunderbolt without any issues. Hopefully I can get a replacement on this. If the 2nd one has these issues, I'll go back to my Thunderbolt which has been rock-solid since I got it.

People have been getting over 5000 scores on my 100% bloated stock deodexed ROM. They have all the Verizon garbage on them.

I'm not complaining about build quality, the speed of the phone, touchwiz, etc. My complaint is simply with what seems to be a slight lapse in quality control, which has affected me twice now, haha.
No biggie. I guess I'll just see what Best Buy says when I take it in.

My first phone was a pre order phone. For the lifebof me and Samsung and Verizon. We could not get the flipping GPS to find the phone. Both Verizon and Samsung tried to tell me that the phone needs the celular network to use GPS. I had to tell them that that is either impossible or that the phone is falsely advertising stand alone GPS. And if Samsung and Verizon allowed that to be that some one is in for a legal ride. I told them that I would never purchase a phone or any mobile communicqtion device without that option. Long story short they sent me a new one. And everything works perfectly. Well, with the exception of it freezing on me at times. This could be due to an over heating issue or just bad designe in the software. Though it has not happened in a while since I have frozen some of the Verizon and Samsung crap bloat. Specifficly Verizon. They know how to screw a good thing up. Also, I have this thing underclocked at 918MHz-1.134GHz. This helps a great deal because of wifi teather and bluetooth on in my car all day long. Now to find a charger that will let it more than just charge at a snails pace.

Signal Issues with Stock S3 (No 4G, bad handoff, etc.)

Forgive my ignorance, but I seem to be having the problems of not having consistent 4G. And slow 4G/3G transitions, as well as poor battery as a result.
I have also gotten the No mobile network, no sim, and roaming network notifications.
It seems like many are having these problems, yet people who report them seem to say it occured after flashing some ROM/Kernel (idk).
My phone is stock. Im wondering if its happening to other users who have not done any funny business.
Ironically I was holding off on rooting and rom'ing to avoid these little initial bugs

I was in same boat as you. I was holding off rooting and flashing roms to make sure my device was functioning correctly in stock form. Unfortunately it was not, and I was experiencing all of the issues you are facing on my SECOND gs3. I had replaced the first one for a loose home button, and ended up receiving a new device with more issues than the previous one.
I called up tech support last night, and listed all of the issues you just listed and the tech said those are all hardware issues so I'll have to send you another. I obviously haven't received the third phone yet, but I can tell you I was not experiencing these issues on my first one.

I should probably further elaborate and say that I was in Florida for the first week I had my device and the reception there was very good, and I never lost 4G, and was getting almost 35hours of battery when I am lucky to get 10 here. No major app battery draw, just signal...
So that leads me to believe that it is the network, which is a little weaker where I am now, is causing the phone to jump unecessarily in and out of 4G and drawing too much battery.
It's either that, or my phone stopped working properly after a week, which seems less likely.
I don't think it's less likely as a few have reported after a couple of weeks of fantastic service, the phone's data connection has plummeted.
I'm on my second device. Both devices had the same problem. 3g dropped to 1x dropped to no signal. Finding the signal when in a known good signal area took foreverrrr. I haven't seen 4g yet with this phone so I cannot comment there.
I've struggled with VZW to replace my phone. They're now looking at the network for errors, or something. I've taken matters into my own hands- rooted and rom'd the phone with Synergy and it has helped immensely.
Waiting for VZW or Samsung to fix it, I don't think, is a great idea. If you wanted a device that worked correctly out of the box, your chances may be higher with a phone from a different manufacturer. I don't recommend Motorola because of their stance on locked bootloaders but the radio in those things is fantastic.
So you think my phone is defective?
I have my doubts... I see lots of people complaining about so many things and there first reaction is to exchange the phone... they then end up with other problems because they meticulously scrutinize every little detail.
I also don't want to return my phone because I got a bodyguardz carbon fiber kit and screen protector and its applied perfectly! =) No bubbles or haze!
I understand... Gotta weigh it out for yourself.
I personally don't think there's anything wrong with scrutinizing a device you paid any amount of money for. It's yours. If its flawed, get another.

Question Pixel 7 pro is good in phone reception?

Hello, I have pixel 7 pro and I'm experiencing difficulties in cell change, often when i put my phone in my pocket, and then I take it off i'm without signal for many seconds.
Anyone with the same problem?
Thanks
Same for me. After the march update is even worse. It take so long to gain back the signal and sometimes I need to reboot the phone or reset the network. Also after the latest update after the boot sometimes it takes 3-5 minutes to get the sim signal..

Yeah, I only switched from a phisical sim to an esim
In addition to the above, in my case I also hear some strange noises at the beginning of the calls, a kind of "Crack" and sometimes the voice on the other end is choppy, but it is slight and allows me to speak well most of the time.
This does not happen all the time. I am tolerating it for the moment.
I'm experiencing worse reception since the March update. On Verizon.
Yesterday I had to reboot the phone to go from the exclamation mark to LTE.
I'm thinking about doing a wipe/fresh install, hoping that might help.
I ran into this issue with mine while talking with somebody, the phone connection would randomly drop the call... shocking Google hasn't released an update to resolve this issue - it helped forcing me back to a OnePlus 11 device.
Guys, I had this exact issue on my P7P. It was driving me crazy, constantly dropping coverage and taking ages to reconnect, I had both esim and physical sim. I messaged Google support and they said it was a software issue and to wait for a fix. But like most of you I bought this phone months ago so that's not good enough. I eventually got them to do a full replace of my phone under warranty and now I have no more issues. Get them replaced!

I mean I would take my phone out of my pocket and have two exclamation marks. Or I'd be driving and my music would stop and id have the two exclamation marks. I tried absolutely everything and even moved networks and it never improved. Replaced my phone and haven't had an issue since.

Have you news?
Same here in Germany and Vodafone , since March update worse then before.
Since a full wipe and fresh install of the March update, my cell reception on Verizon has been better. Before that I was updating without wiping and my cell reception often gave me the !
I thought I'd add a comment. I'm on TMobile in Louisiana, USA. I believe reception is the best I've seen personally on pixel 7 pro. One of the things that surprised me most is in building where I work, usually no phone signal, but on this one I can surf the Internet, etc. One other thing to note is, I have a friend with a messed up cell phone, for the longest when you talk to him you can hear an echo. On this phone there is no echo when talking to him which is surprising. I thought he had got another phone but one time after disconnecting from my pixel buds or something similar I heard the echo, and asked him; did he get a new phone because I haven't heard the echo in a while. Come to find out he has the same phone and all I could think is that possibly this phone aka clear calling(which I could be mistaken) had literally cleared up the echo.
I live in the country and have never had any issues. 5G is disabled. It's not even available anywhere near where I live. I've never had 5G coverage as far as I know. So again, personally reception has been good. If you look here, on telegram, and on Reddit there are a lot of weird complaints about reception with this phone. My only complaint about it is battery life. Ever since the November update it's sucked. I get through a day easy, but I should be getting through 2 days without charging and still have 30% no problem.
A month ago I charged my phone while working in my shed. I unplugged the phone and left it in a metal enclosure shelf (bad reception). 18 hrs later I came out and the phone had 100% charge still. It is my work iphone XR that is 2 or 3 years old. I couldn't believe it. 0% idle drain in awful reception over 18hrs. The phone may have been connected to wifi, but still. Had I done that with the p7p the battery would have been at 70% due to Google's crappy software in Google plays eevices and/or hardware searching for signal and never stopping. If they wanna use crap hardware they need better software to control the frequency of signal searching to increase battery life. The balance they've chosen between maintaining good connection signal and maintaining battery life is way too far off balance in favor of maintaining good signal. It's ridiculous and is obvious
I don't have a source or poll to refer to, but I would have to guess that device battery life is a top 3 concern of anyone buying a new device.
My first p7p had really bad connectivity. Returned it under warranty and the new one has been perfect ever since
