[Q] My HOS got an FW update today 2012-05-08 (1.78.401.2) - HTC One S

Anyone else got the 1.78.401.2 FW update?
I have no clue of what it entails...

I also updated!
Installing ...

1.78.401.2 just came out today yet people are already requesting ROM's based on 1.78.401.2....

Also got the update (after manually checking for it) and installing as we speak.
Hope its fixing at least some of the numerous bugs (wireless, wifi, 3G issue, etc) that everybody has with (unbranded) HOS.
G.

I also haven't got any notification but based on this thread tried and am downloading right now - it's 59MB.
Will update the status since I'm among the network issues suffering customers...

Does it include a new baseband (radio)?

Nothing in the UK yet
I'm guessing you guys are all US HOS owners, no update in the UK yet. Are there any release notes?

I checked manually for updates and it worked.
HTC says only "system enhancements"
we will see...
@rboekee
i have the EU - version, unbranded that's the important thing...

Update is not working for those having a custom recovery installed...
After flashing the Stock Recovery with this wonderful One klick tool the Update is working just fine...

I had my Bootloader unlocked via HTCdev... Seems like an unlocked Bootloader has got nothing to do with this issue!
To keep your Phone rooted after the update, use OTA Rootkeeper from the Playstore!

there is a new base band: 0.16.31501S.17_2_10.23.315.01S.10L
BTW, It now includes also Hebrew T9 in the phone!!! (only if you change your phone language to Hebrew fully)

Just got mine at the weekend, have tried checking for an update there and theres nothing happening at the mo.
3 UK, sim locked, no root, no customer recovery.

I forgot to mention, I'm with a EU phone.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but can I flash the radio if I am dev-unlocked?

Seems like it's not available in the US yet? I tried checking in and then check for update but nothing. Asked the woman to do the same and no update for her either. I'm in Boston btw.
For those with the update in the US how is the signal? Is it jumping up and down still? I'm getting tired of this and tried everything so I'm hoping it's the radio firmware and not the hardware itself.
Sent from the One.

The update is only available for unbranded EU phones.
Edit:
It looks like Vodafone Germany has also released the update.

If you didn't know the HTC way of numbering their FW then I can tell you that the *.401.* designates the EU version (possibly the WW version too)...
And yes... I live in Sweden and my HOS is unbranded...

Yep just unbranded only..
Sent from the One.

Mine also an unbranded one.
As for the update itself, it seems that the radio issues are not yet solved.
3g/H issues are still here.
I did notice that on a certain place which has no reception, with the old radio I was still with reception signal though no actual reception was present, while with the new radio the reception really drops to no signal status.
Yet, as I mentioned, there data switches which are interfering to the data transfer are still here... :-(
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA

I can confirm as well that data issue still here H/3G still interrupting a contstand data stream.
Also can confirm that the signal is lower compared the previous update.
My HOS is EU unbranded.
I cannot see any Hebrew language added after the installation.

[Q] Getting an unbranded European ICS update

Dear all,
I live in Israel and about two months ago I bought the Sensation.
After waiting for so long and not receiving the update I have taken interest in the way the FOTA works. I've seen that some folks here wrote that the ICS update depends on the CID. This led me to investigate further into my phone (which I haven't done previously).
Turns out the Sensation I bought from a private shop here in Israel has the Indian unbranded CID (HTC_038).
Software number is 1.52.720.3
Since I dont really need an Indian ICS update, what I wanted to ask is:
Suppose I change my CID to the European unbranded, will I then be able to get a European ICS update? Will my phone work well after such procedure?

Well, I tried changing the cid using adb commands and it didn't work, guess getting the update depends not only on the CID but also on the software number
I'm still awaiting the ICS update on my UK sim free XE, most others already have the update. It's possible that the device serial number could be a factor in getting the update too.

P6210 Offical Samsung UK Stock ROM

Hi all,
I am trying to follow up on the rumours of ICS being released in the UK via Kies. However, I have a US firmware on my SGT 7+ (P6210UELA3) and I'd like to get the UK version (or EU if there isn't a UK one) on there to see if I can grab the ICS update.
Does anyone have a link to the official UK/EU firmware from which I can grab and flash the ROM?

He heard it here from qubeuk user: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28725729
It may be a short-term released firmware he accidentally updated to, but it's not available yet. According to its build time, it was compiled some hours after the P6200 firmware.
I understand Samsung strategy. Releases only one firmware per device per week, only for one small region. They know xda members will jump on it, install it, and besides Austrian users, experienced users will stress-test the firmware. Maybe they solve bugs, too, like the P6800 WIFI bug (and I bet this can be applied to P6200 users, too, check P6800 forum). After testing that, they will fix all errors and release firmwares for all regions and all models in a few weeks.
And, they're right. No better and cheaper testers than experienced users. And this way, simple users will just get a stable version later.

I don't wanna get into a useless fight but think it over again. Open your eyes and see what happens when a device like tab7+ comes to surface months after ICS is introduces with HC installed and almost a year is needed to get ICS in a very limited region first, but letting experienced users to install it on their device. Why? Money?
Believe me, this is the strategy. This way, major bugs affect only a few "official" users (Austrian people), but experienced ones can find all bugs by using and testing devices for free. Why? Less investment?
So, "sorry", but believe this is how it works. And I believe your opinion is based on decades of software production knowledge, but mine is.

You are completely wrong about the ICS timeframe just so you know. Its only been on the street for 7ish months. And on tablets for farrrrr less time.

You're completely right! I remembered that G7+ was released in February but now I see it was released in last October. Sorry, my bad. Anyway, it doesn't change my opinion on Samsung firmware upgrade policy.
Official UK ICS 4.04 GT-P6210 Firmware
Here is the link for the official UK 4.04 ICS firmware for the P6210 I've downloaded and installed via Odin today on 2 6210's no problems and much better than honeycomb. I also change my CSC as mine was set to France and now set to UK so updates via Kies work etc.

I used a program from the play store which change the CSC from XEF (France) to XEU (UK) link below. It didn't state that it work for the GT-P6210 but did work fine with a little messing. If I ran it from 3.2 Honeycomb it didn't come up with any options to change the CSC and just showed I was on XEF (France) CSC so what seemed to work for me is to factory reset 3.2 (or 4.04 if you have already installed update)and leave it at the language selection screen do not enter any set-up details then turn off and enter download mode and flash 4.04 firmware from Odin. Once that's finished complete initial set-up and get into the 4.04 OS and install CSC selector from the Play store and run it selecting XEU (UK) from the list and install the new CSC. This will automatically do another full reset on the device changing the CSC to the new region and will now updates OTA or through Kies no problem as your CSC matches the firmware (this is confirmed when you open Kies as it shows the CSC on the initial screen).
Whenever you change the CSC it always wipes the device a little annoying but only needs doing the once so not a big problem to get the device right.

[Q] Switching firmwares

Hello friends, I'm trying to fix up a GT-N8000 for a friend, it's got ZCBLL5 firmware on it(he got it from china somehow). It did not come with the play store(or any google apps), and since he's an apple guy, he turned to me for help. As it's not my tablet, and i haven't messed much with samsung devices, i don';t want to brick it, so i'm turning to the xda community for a bit of help. We're located in canada, however i see there isn't a canadian firmwrae for this variant. Which would be the best region FW to install, and would it mess up the 3g ability, like would it mess up the IMEI or the CSC. Or would i be better off to root and sideload/flash GAPPS? And would the 3g still function here in canada with the chinese FW. Thanks in advance
Well the german firmware is the one which is updated first so I would advice either the German one or the Nordic one, once you do that you will stop receiving OTA and will have to manually update. I am from India and have installed german and Nordic ones cell services just work fine. The issue with IMEI getting messed to my knowledge will happen only with custom roms.
Once you install any of these roms you will get gapps automatically

Latest firmware for 920F?

Just received an unbranded new 920F that is on C0I9 firmware and appears to be from the UAE. Sammobile shows a QOLK from TIM Italy dated Jan 4 2016.
What is the latest firmware I need without getting carrier specific bloat installed (if possible). I don't want UAE firmware.
Thanks!
hi my friend ,

Thanks.. Is this branded to a French network with boot logo and bloatware? I'm so confused with with these international versions. Also, how will future updates be delivered? I'm on AT&T.

Hi. Yeah...I'm using international versions now as well. You can get updates via Kies...but I've noticed some regions get updates faster and at different times. I've found just keep track of unbranded and Odin them when u feel like upgrading. My phone was originally UAE...I just turned it into DDE (German) OK2 firmware. Runs great....ZERO bloat. It's awesome. I'm on TMO
France XEF gets fast updates trust me, and about bloadtwares it's good enough for me so is for u i hope, and no special boot logo only the original
cheers
I am unable to flash any firmware with odin without error, can you help?

Where is UI 2.5 for International N9600?

Am I the only one? I own a SM-N9600 unlocked international (South America) phone, and my wife owns an N960US version. Well, she's been updated well over a month now to the newest UI 2.5, while I'm stuck on 2.1 still. Anyone else in this predicament? Anyone know anything? I'm in US and on T-Mobile.
I'm from Brazil and I have the same version that you do. No updates to UI 2.5 so far. That's sad.
To no Aguardo também
Translation: I'm also waiting for you
Mine updated today, January 7, though the update is dated as being December 3. Oh, well. At least I finally got it!!
I also have a N9600 and am in Nicaragua. I'm still stuck on 2.1. Samsung customer service suggest that I installed Smart Switch. I did. And it says that everything is updated. But I'm still at One UI 2.1.
Does anyone know a way to update this even manually somehow? I'm on a Mac and really would like to have my note 9 updated. Another weird thing while I'm at it is that Bixby doesn't have hardly any cards. For whatever reason, all of the good ones were removed for some reason with an update quite some time back.
If anybody knows what's going on, I'd sure love some ideas or help.
I've contact the brazilian Samsung support to ask about the update to UI 2.5
Who answered me said that they pretend to update in July!! That cannot be right, since in Germany and other countries the update started last year.
