AT&T Visual Voicemail Confirmed Working - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hey guys I don't know if anyone has tried to install AT&T visual voicemail, but I was able to get it to work. Here are the steps I took to get working:
1. Download the apk from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1452330
2. Install on the phone and try setting it up. It will not complete but that is ok.
3. It will prompt you to update Visual Voicemail from the Play Store, but the update will fail saying that it was not signed.
4. Once that pops up choose Uninstall.
5. Once Uninstalled, right away click install from the Play Store.
6. The installation should be successful and now you can setup and enjoy AT&T Visual Voicemail.
Click thanks if this works for you guys.

Worked, but a little differently.
After it failed to setup I clicked update, but it said it couldn't find it on the market.
Then it took me back to the app and asked for my password and worked fine.
Thanks, nevertheless.

It's a supported application for the HTC One X, just doesn't come preinstalled. Download it from the market.

I had to call customer service. My phone wasn't provisioned for the VVM I'm wondering if it's because I switched from an iPhone to this HOX. Once I had them re-provision it works as described, except I can't find the VVM app in the play store. The one provided here on XDA seems to work though

I just installed the apk from that forum page, set up, and got it working right off the bat. No need to uninstall or anything. Works great! God I missed this from my iPhone days lol. The ONLY thing I missed lol. Ya I know google voice but I like it integrated with att service so no hassles.

Confirmed.
I had to switch my basic voice mail to visual voice mail. DL'ed the attached apk and it worked right away. I was prompted to update but it didn't work but the current verison will do for now until they revise the store to allow our One X to install it freely.

Strange, looks like we should have this according to AT&T.

** EDIT **
I opened XDA in a PC web browser and saw attachment. Installed it on the phone and it worked. Do not need to download from Google Play

Odd behavior: If I receive a voicemail while NOT connected to WiFi, then ATT Visual Voicemail picks up on it and acts as intended. If I receive a voicemail with WiFi connected, I get the normal voicemail notoficaiton and have to call my cell number to listen to it.
Anyone else experiencing this? Or that can test it?

When I called tech support he told me that VVM only downloads from the network and not over wifi, which would explain that.
+1 for confirmed.

Yeah it downloads over cellular not WiFi.however if you are on WiFi, just give it like 2-5 minutes after the missed call for visual voicemail to receive it. It will download it over cellular even tho you are connected to WiFi.

That's F'ing stupid IMO. since I'm (and I assume most people) on WiFi the majority of the time (home/work). How is it that iPhone can instantly get VVM over WiFi and we can't. It's an official AT&T app!!
Thanks for the confirmations and added info from AT&T tech support.

I had to call to have VVM activated also. But worked great after that. Thanks!

I mean I've had it come instantly before. But I'm not sure why the variation in receiving times. When I called tier 2 tech support (I have their direct number from a previous issue I had a year back so I call them directly to get quicker and more efficient help) the guy said that the one x will be officially supported by the app on may 28th (hopefully he's right) so maybe they'll always come instantly then.

After trying both, I actually prefer Google voice over AT&T VVM since Google also has speech to text and convenient widgets. Also the voicemail greeting from Google sounds more human than AT&T's.
After using both, Google voice is a better product IMO, except that the notifications are not displaying on my HOX.

[Q] Can wifi calling be ported?

I know this had been touched upon in here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=791372) but once the new G2 update is released there should be an app for wifi calling. Do you think this will be capable of porting to use with Verizon?

this would be sweet.
I agree using WiFi and Google voice I would like. In fact should I find something and verify its working on my phone i will post some links.
Sent from my Droid Incredible.
we can use skype on our phones, but thats still an extra fee, and it won't use the numbers we already have, we have to get a skype number.
you would think the cell carriers wouldn't mind wifi calling since it frees up their towers.
In the market there's an app called GV dialer. it works with Google voice (i think). You make a phone call, Google intersepts the call then calls the # dialed and your number to connect you. No minutes used, all internet. Even gives you your own # that you could receive calls on your phone. I've been using it for about 6 months now.
N1 users are interested as well. They have T-Mobile too, though. Hopefully when it gets ported over we can find a way to use it.
Here's the link over to the N1 forum on it. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806746)
This is something that must be done.

I think tmous just blocked Qik video chat over their mobile network

The other day me & my brother were able to video chat on Qik using our data plans. Last night we tried again & now neither of us can connect over data, just over wifi. We get errors saying unable to connect to server. It can't be a localized problem either because I'm in AZ & he's in TX.
I know they just blocked it for Google Talk video chat as well.
So, can you still connect using your data plan?
has anyone or will anyone else test this out for me? please and thanks
Same thing happened to me. It used to work fine up until i did a hard reset and then it stopped working. I did a search on qik's website and this seems to be.a.common problem with many devices.

Ok. I wondering now if anyone with tmous can connect over data.
I used Qik for over 30 minutes on Friday night with no problems. I was on 4g, my fiance was on wifi Gtab

My Qik does nothing but force close. Latest updates and All.
setup ssh tunneling or a vpn - if you have a system at home that is always on and decent speeds it's an easy way to use your 4g connection for what you want to do
Tango has always worked for me and still does.. 3g/or wifi

Giving that a try. The one complaint is I can't manage contacts in there & it adds the very ugly orange icon & text in the contacts app

OTA Update did not fix WIFI calling.

I just got the update today. According to the changleog it was supposed to fix WIFI calling. However I saw absolutely no difference. WIFI calling still crackles and chops all the time and it has unusable echo with the speakerphone on.
On top of that now Fligh mode always shows "Turning off..." when I have the WIFI turned on. I did a factory reset, still no change in either one of these issues.
What is your experience with the new software?
I don't have the static that I previously had and the delay doesn't seem to be as bad, however calls aren't consistently coming through to my phone (over wifi calling) since I did the update.
I also found that Wifi Calling got worse with the update. A lot of people saying their calls are going straight to my voicemail, and when I try to dial out I have to try a few times before the call actually connects. Also, the crackle and pop noise is still present as it was before the update too. I hope more people complain about this issue so they can patch it sooner!
I'm also having the same issue and I'm having to rely on that service more because for some reason I don't have that great of coverage in my area anymore. Went from having great 4g at my house to being able to barely pick up 2g

Yeah same here with the problems. I get the crackling and popping now. I actually think it started since the update. The other weird problem is my voicemail icon does not go away even after clearing all the voicemails. Not sure if this is because I pay for the VM to text option? Oh and lastly when people call, it shows up as unknown a lot. Dunno WTF!

Going to settings option then call option there's an option to clear voicemail notifications. I just got the phone today and had to do that to clear. I haven't tested calls over WiFi I'm going to give it a try in the morning I hope it doesn't disappoint but it seems everyone is having issues.
Edit: I just gave WiFi calling a little test by calling a 1800 porn number and unfortunately I do hear some cracking or popping every couple of seconds.

I don't think you're going to get cell quality with WiFi calling. I had issues with the g2x as well.

OK I'll bite...
A few things before I give you an answer here so answer these honestly ok...
1. What router do you have and what frequency is it set for and how long have you had it.
2. What's your providers bandwidth that your using? Is it DSL, broadband, T1....
3. What security are you using on your router when you connect to it?
I'll check back in the morning and give you an honest answer....
EDIT: people are expecting 4G quality from the internet and you'll NEVER get cell quality even with the best router running a T1 connection dedicated to just wifi calling, this is a free service for those who have minute plans instead of paying for unlimited service. There are ways to clean up the quality of these connections if your willing to have the patience to reconfigure your router a little and how good your ISP is and working with the limitations if there are any.
Mine is usable as well, just the popping noise is quite a nuisance.

If you're question is in regards to T-mobile US. Then the answer is yes it is free and you won't be changed.
Seems too good to be true because my internet is so fast. Are you sure?

Positive, as long as you have ANY sort of data plan. If you're on the pay per megebyte play your screwed if you use the net at all. I've been tethering with my phones for about 3 years now on t-mobile with plans that don't allow it.
Does anybody know about using the wifi tethering for Cincinnati Bell? With unlimited data do we get away with tethering without being noticed or charged?
where did you get the app to wifi tether? I am not seeing the sprint icon that would normally be there...do i have to get the rooted wifi tether app? Can't believe there is no voicemail icon either....weird.

You can access voicemail settings when inside the phone app, just bring up the menu-->settings-->voicemail
And the tethering is (from the homescreen) menu-->settings-->more-->tethering and portable hotspot

And with cm10 I don't think there is a shortcut or widget for the hotspot
