[Q] G2x help! Face buttons not responsive - T-Mobile LG G2x

I have a rooted g2x with a little problem. When it is flashed to the newest ics rom the face buttons (home menu back and search) sort of work but they are uncalibrated as the buttons are activated only when pressing above the image of the buttons. When it is downgraded to gingerbread the latest rom the buttons simply do not work anymore. When I press them the lights go on meaning they are not broken but it doesn't respond. Anyone can help me with that? I'm planning to make a video showing the problem when I get home

Sounds crazy annoying, try Googling it. Capacative buttons will got you better results then face buttons.

can I change the lockscreen?

Good afternoon XDA.
I'm wondering if anyone has any guidance on how I can change the lockscreen on the G2x?
I am rooted with clockwork installed. I know if I install cm7 I'll have more options but currently that rom doesn't allow me to have data, calls only.
I have searched high and low for settings for the lockscreen and can't find any.
here's my problem. I was spoiled by cm6 and 7 on mytouch slide. With the G2x the buttons aren't real buttons so they don't actually pull the phone out of sleep. The only button that does that is the power button at the top. And then the only way to get past the lock screen is to gesture from left to right. I absolutely hate that whole gesture to unlock thing. I know it was nifty for nifties sake when it was first done a couple years ago and has become standard since then. But I hate it. it's uncomfortable and annoying. I just want to pull my phone out, push a button and start doing what I need to do. Sometimes it's just check a widget on my desktop. Now I have to fumble around swiping to do that.
On the mytouch with CM i could just double click the trackpad our menu button and it would unsleep then unlock easy as that.
Please if anyone knows a way to get past the lock screen with a button press or get rid of the lockscreen entirely so it unlocks as soon as it unsleeps please let me know.
dream scenario: push volume button and phone comes out of sleep, push volume button again to get past lockscreen.
widget locker can disable the lockscreen i believe
other than that i dont know of any apps that would let you hit the volume button to wake up the phone
CM7 would definitely be the easiest way to get it done, but unfortunately it looks like it wouldnt work out for you.
CM7 might get the option to wake with the volume keys...

The code is there, it just hasn't been merged yet...
I found this application and tried it out. It takes a second to unlock, but one press of the power button gets you in.

That is such great news. I'm definitely going to CM7 when data works on it because I can't imagine using my phones for a long time without cyanogen on them.
And thank you to the people who gave app suggestions, i'm going to check those out.
Where is whitehawx when you need him lol!

How do I turn off the soft keys back light on ics rooms?

Right now I am on aokp and it seems like its impossible to turn off the soft key (menu home back search) lights. I've tried apps like screen filter and it does turn the lights off but they turn back on as soon as I press one of the buttons or if I lock and unlock the phone.
They are very annoying when watching a video or reading. Is there any way I can turn them off?

As a workaround, if you're watching video that's stored on the phone you might wanna try MX Player. It's got an option to disable the softkey backlights while you're watching video and it's worked well for me. I forget the name of the option but it's in the settings for the app.
This is a known problem with all of our ICS roms. :/

Thank you for responding. Another work around i found is to use the navigation bar in aokp instead of the physical keys, but this cuts off the keyboard. Doesn't this have to do with the bln support in the kernel? If you guys were to make a version of the roms you guys have without the bln support, would the soft key lights function normally?
I thought it was BLN causing the issue too. I tried reverting the patch and trying out the new kernel bug the bug was still there so it looks like it's something else causing this.

home button does nothing?

so my gf's tab 7" home button does nothing!! it doesn't go to the home screen when pressed while in an app. and if long pressed it also does nothing. she always has to repeatedly press back to go to the home screen.
did she mess something up? lol

seems like a hardware issue
U can try to do a factory reset in the Stock recovery to see if it fixes it. If not off to repair

As i think home button is soft button in the screen not hard button so no hardware involved but software problem try www.samfirmware.com to reflash stock rom again or www.teamhacksung.org to reflash cm10

It may be that the setting for the home key has been accidently changed. You could try this - on any of the home screens, pinch to reduce size. All the home screens will now be visble with a home emblem on upper right corner. See if this has been checked for whichever screen you want as the home screen. This is what I did when I had a similar issue. But am a noob and maybe you have already tried this.

Power Key problems

Recently my power button has gone haywire when i press it, it registers as a long press and brings up the power menu. my screen will cut off and come up randomly sometimes it brings up the power menu. im currently running the latest version of MOAR but couldn't find anything to remap/disable the hardware keys. Does anyone know of an rom that will let me remap/disable the hardware keys or an app that would let me do the same. any help is appreciated thanks in advance.

You can always try "button savior" from google play but if you want a rom that has navigation keys then there are tons such as illusions rom and most of those other 4.2.2 roms
Solved my problem partially with button savior but don't is there a way to disable the hardware key?

The power button failure is a known issue with the S3. They usually replace the phone. FYI. It's commonly known as 'sudden death syndrome'

I looked up the SDS and some aspects of this lead me to believe this isint my issue what I'm having my power button ( I'm guessing due to using over time ) has become sensitive is the best way to put it the slightest touch will bring up as I did a long press to bring up the power menu so having it in my pocket will randomly bring it on and bring the power menu up. I'm still trying to figure out how to disable the key its self. If anyone had any input on how to disable it that would be a good temp fix till I can get an replacement

Well I disabled mine, just pulled the damn thing off and made a shortcut to shut the screen off....works for now until I get it replaced.
To follow up on this, a month and a half later I put my button back in. Guess what, works perfectly.
.....and time to sell lmao

[Q] Capacitive buttons no longer work, need advice.

Just wondering if buying a new LCD Digitizer and assembly would fix my issue if the Menu and Back buttons no longer work but everything else is fine. The buttons would occasionally stop working for a few minutes up (or until I hit the bottom of phone) until last month when they just stopped all together. Had the phone sine release and have factory wiped it a few times when upgrading ROM's so that never fixed it.

There are a few apps you can use if you are rooted like - Floating Toucher - which have the menu and back button and it is a good app. My capacitive buttons work but I find it convenient to use the app just takes a little time to get used to using it instead of the buttons
