Hey guys,
I usually post my reviews on the Galaxy Nexus forums but I've recently gotten my hands on the One X, so I'll be bringing some case reviews in the coming weeks. Today I got my hands on the Tough, from Case-Mate. This is a two piece hybrid case that looks to provide good protection, for users who are prone to dropping their devices.
You can find the full video review below:
Great review. By any chance do you know if this case will fit the USA (LTE) version?

As far as I know, there is no physical difference between the two models other than the placement of the Pogo Pins. Also, according to Case-mate, it will fit both models.
Thanks for watching!

This is not true. As it's been shown and proven in some of the other threads in this section, there is a .4mm length difference, and yes, .4mm does make a difference. Ask those who have gotten their cases and are now returning them because it does not fit correctly.

I'll take your word for it. I've bought some AT&T cases and they fit just fine on my Int. Model.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Don't have to take my word for it. You can see it in the pictures I provided.
Mind you, these are "Itnl. sized cases" on a longer AT&T device. An AT&T longer case, would fit a Intl' version fine as it can "settle" into the right spot, where the camera is concerned and have a nearly unnoticeable excess at the bottom. Unfortunately this does not work the other way around as you can see in the pics.
Could you check gps reception with and without the case.?
On my inspire the casemate tough would almost block the gps signal..

Just checked that for you - working fine for me. Turned GPS off with case off, then pinned my location. Did the same with the case on and it took roughly the same amount of time to find my location.
Very weird that you experienced that on your Inspire.

I really liked the feel of the tough on my inspire but it did in fact effect gps..
Could never get a lock using the gps test app or google maps with the case on..
I switched to a seidio innocase and had no problems..

Hard to tell why but I've heard others say similar things (albeit with other devices). Most likely it has something to do with GPS placement on the device. Like I said, nothing to worry on here, so if you like the case - go for it!
So has anyone else put one of these on the att version? How's it fit? I know one person said it.fits too tight.
Sent from my HTC One X
yeah, the case-mate one is made more for the international version. i'm going to be contacting case-mate to see if they're going to be making one for our model. i'd really like a case-mate on mine but i'm not going to buy something that's not actually made for our devices.
edit: done. hopefully they get back to me before the end of the week with some kind of response. i really love the Tough Case. it served me very well for my international Samsung Galaxy SII
I called case-mate about the tough case and the lady told me that they worked with AT&T to make sure the tough case would fit. LOL I almost laughed at her seeing as mine doesn't really fit good at all. Too tight.

Hello,
The review was good on the case for One X. Do you know if there are any cases that also charge the battery (for HTC One X).

I am looking for good hard case, I really like this one for iphone: SwitchEasy CapsuleNeo. But it doesn't matter, I preffer good quality.
I tried leather pouch case and sillicon case and both are looking ugly and cheap after using it while. The sillicon is too thick and after three months is quite stretched.
Thanks for advice
Have you looked at these? http://www.otterbox.com/htc-cases/htc-desire-cases/

I had a PDair case on my last phone.
They are very VERY good and will really keep your phone looking like new.
BUT
Be aware that they do impact signal strength and could make the difference between 2 bars and no bars.

Really? I've never encountered such problem, though. Pdair is a very famous case maker with rich experiences, I think they will fully test the products before commercial launch?? BTW, have you asked for replacement?

If you fully encase a phone in metal, it's kind of expected that reception will be affected to some degree. I suspect that different phone will also be affected in different ways dependant on where the antenna is located.
As I said, the PDair case IS very very good and I was prepared to accept the trade off on reception (which was only really a deal in poor reception areas) against the ultimate protection for my phone. When I eventually sold the phone on eBay, the buyer did not believe this had been my work phone for the last year plus as it was in such good condition.
My experience was however in an area of marginal signal, taking the phone out of the metal case resulted in an extra bar or 2. I do not believe this to be a faulty case, just physics

Alot like the way the Htc Legend has been having poor reception due to it been made from aluminium.
I had a 2 part case and broke it due to having to take the battery or sd card out frequently with flashing roms daily. What ive got now is a Casemate Barely There and it does its job brilliantly.

It just arrived, and it is perfect! The screen protector had gone on flawlessly, and is much smoother than my last one, giving the feel and slip of a bare glass screen. The case itself is very well made, and although it adds some minor bulk to the phone,i think it looks cool. All cutouts line up perfectly, and it feels very good to hold.
Well worth the money if you don't mind the look it gives the phone.

I had this same exact case for my G2x, It wasn't as nice and didnt fit as well as it looked on the web. I really miss the fusion case I had for my MT4G that one was my favorite case. It was very similar yet much better. I wouldnt buy this case again for my sensation after seeing the exact one on my g2x This was the best one for the MT4G: http://www.ambitronic.com/product_info.php/mytouch-fusion-case-p-480
This was the same one as the sensation that I thought was pretty bad on the G2X (and I had two of these cases from different venders)

So far, so good. Thanks!
The only thing I'm afraid of is that it'll turn yellowish over time.
Very happy
Just got mine 5 cases for 12 bucks good cheap cases live in Arizona the shipping only took 7 days from China. Very happy
I've had my TPU case for a few days now, and I've found that it obstruct a micro-USB cable so it does not solidily stay plugged in. Do you have this issue as well or did I just get a bad vendor? (I have this one - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054HA45A )
Thanks
Case & Screen Protectors
I just got the this case for $5.95:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XYHW1Y
They also sent two screen protectors for free. The case is very thin and it lets you see the phone's back, which is great. This might not be the case for someone looking to FULLY protect the phone, as it doesn't cover the top and bottom of it.
Now it is only $1.99 plus S&H, it doesn't gets better than that. Although not related to cases, you should buy this car charger:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000S5Q9CA
I got it for my N1 and it works great with the S4G.
try this one,nice awesome
nillkin case also nice and good

bought that kind, dont have it yet. did have on on my mt4g, worked beautifully. Fav case ever. usb port was a little tight on generic usb cords, but the htc cables have small heads that fit fine.
In my searches for a good TPU case, I came across this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180699200569&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_738wt_1037. It's cheaper than the TPU-Cases brand and it also comes with a screen protector. I think it looks great with a matte/gloss dual finish, but I'm not sure if I should buy it with the lack of a power button cutout.

I REALLY like the way that one looks, and with free expedited shipping, its worth trying. It't be sweet if it were orange though.
I just ordered 1 of this hard rubber and 3 of this tpu cases.
I believe they have a very good price and high quality.
I bought this case last week and it is the best tpu case I have ever seen or used! Looks so sexy on the sensation. It has all the extra holes on the back as well and it fits like a glove. The seller is also selling one for $2 more with a screen protector. Can't say how the sp is as I haven't tried it, but I highly suggest this case.

As a mini review...
Being this is my first Seidio Active case ever, I am quite impressed by the combo offering. the case and skeleton that goes over the case is quite nice. The build is nice and you can feel the quality of the case when held in your hand. Right now for the kickstand Active case, there is only the black available and that's ok with me. But I do like color from time to time. As for the kickstand portion, it works as described. It cannot stand up in portrait and is intended for only landscape viewing when the kickstand is in use. The kickstand has a nice click to open and close and you can be confident that the kickstand is tucked away. And when opening the kickstand, don't worry if you use too much force the plastic piece has some give and is forgiving. Nice to know
All in all the case is indeed worth its pretty penny. Before this case, I was using the Nillkin kickstand case as you can see in one of the pics in the gallery. Even though I love the slim factor, I am constantly worried I will be scratching the bottom and top portion of the phone which is not covered with the Nillkin kickstand case. Seidio has taken away that worry, however has added some bulk to my phone. It's not bad, but I do like the slim factor of the Sensation and was one of the main reasons for getting the phone. Eh...if the phone is to survive, I have to give something up right? LOL
As for the holster, its great. No issues in getting the phone in or out and I have yet to experience the peel back on the top portion that others have. But time will tell .
Out of 5 stars I give this case a good 4 stars. Because of the uncertainty of the holes that are not present in the case but are on the phone backing. I have yet to test the mic but I will report back if I have any issues.
UPDATE 4/24/12: With regards to the holes. There are no issues with regards to hearing on either end of a call and gps/cell signals are fine. This is my go to case when traveling. However, I maintain my 4 out of 5 stars, because it is a lint trap lol. And a little bulky for my taste, but that's a trade off when you want protection.
I have the active case with kickstand as well. It is the best phone case I've had for the sensation it offers great protection, not bulky and the kickstand just sets it apart from all the others.

Posted in the OP. Also included a coupon code as well. Every penny counts in today's world!
Reporting back after a few days of usage. Used gps and took and received a number of calls and glad to say everything works. With the covering of some of the holes in the back, I was hesitant of how people were going to hear me. But none have remarked that the in call volume was too low or otherwise. GPS ran as it should. Connected to sats locked in as usual.
Looks like I'll be getting this case considering its one of the few cases with a kickstand. Any flaws with it?

The only "flaw" IMO is that not all the holes are present in the case. But the main holes for mic are and do not hinder any performance in my case. And what ever cut outs are there are lined up perfectly. And removing the case in the need of a battery pull is a breeze as well. And also besides the holster peeling off the top part of the case when placing it in the holster one handed, its a hit or miss. You need to just be aware to just use your index finger to move the tab up before placing the phone in the holster from the bottom and then up.
I stand by my mini review so far with being it a strong 4 out of 5 stars for me. The last star would have been the cutting out of all the holes like the back of the case.

Yes it's the Nillkin Kickstand case for the Sensation. I did a review on that as well, did you not see?? I advise against this case unless you are open to personally use a file or dremel to extend your cut out of the usb port. Also the kickstand itself needs to be modified as well to easily fold up the kickstand. Read the thread and make your own judgment before ordering.

Great question! I took a look at it this morning and the answer is no. With the kickstand deployed, the port is located where the phone rests horizontally, as a result the port is blocked.

It's up to ones own preference. I mean I do not regret the purchase. The kickstand works well. And I don't watch a lot of vids on the phone, that's why I have a tablet. Is it that much cheaper? I mean if you get it on ebay I think it's maybe a tad more expensive, but not astronomical.

I've searched google, ebay, and amazon, and cannot find what I'm looking for. Maybe it doesn't exist, but if it does, I'm sure someone here would know.
I'm looking for a holster, like the ones Seidio makes such as the one for the Active Case, but I don't want to have to put the phone in a case. I understand most people like the case cause it protects the phone, and I plan to get one as well for work. But, for all other times but work I prefer to not have a case around the phone.
So, does anyone know of a spring-loaded seidio type holster, that does not need a case, for this phone?
Thanks in advance.

The Seidio Active holster made for the HTC Sensation will fit the phone WITHOUT a case. I'll snap a pic later. Im at work and the case and holster is at home.

That sounds good. Thank you.
Here's some pics I snapped but I don't have a macro lens, I can take additional pics at work with my PnS.
Again, this is the Seidio Active Holster made for the HTC SENSATION.

Seems like a very nice fit, I'd it loose at all?

Nope. It's just a little bit taller than the HTC Sensation so the top spring latch is up a bit but it's not going anywhere. It's way secure. And I'll post better pics tomorrow when I get my PnS at work.

Thank you! Those shots look good.
So, that's for the Sensation 4G, right? And, looking at the specs of both phones, i see the N4 is taller and wider. So, it definitely won't be loose, but is it very tight? Do you have much trouble removing it from the holster when on your belt?

Yes it's for the Sensation 4g.
It's tight. A slight jiggle, but it aint going anywhere. But I hesitate to tell you to go get it because this phone really needs protection from a drop. I say this because I baby the heck outta my stuff and I do drop my phones. And removing it from the holster is a non issue. It works fine. Because of the slickness of the N4 you really really gotta be careful to not drop it.

Wonderful. If I keep this phone I will get one of those, unless I find something better by then.
I know it needs a case, and I plan to get one for work and such. But, for me a case really makes a good phone feel bad. For dress/casual I plan to use it without a case. A risk, I know, but one I'm willing to take. Kinda defeats the purpose of making a phone feel nice in the hand and then putting a bulky case on it.
Since there are discussions on cases that do not work because of the microphone opening on the Verizon model not lining up, I thought we need a thread on cases that actually do work.
Has anyone found any cases that does not cover one of the microphone openings on the bottom?
I want to get a replacement for the Spigen Ultra Hybrid for just this reason.
Just a wild guess but I bet the cases Verizon is selling directly have the proper alignment (no idea though, can't check)? Why would they move the mic hole? I'm guessing to upsell their cases to you? "Oh well, these are the only cases that fit the phone properly, would you like to purchase for $40 now?".
The second another carrier (T-Mobile probably) get's coverage similar to VZW, I'm gone. I can't stand this constant messing around with the phones. Leave the **** alone Verizon, it's going to come back around to you.
The Supcase fits, they designed it with the different position of the mic in mind.
As I pointed out in the other thread, the Samsung protective cover works.
I'm thinking that other than that, your best bet is in store cases...
Yet another reason I'm happy to not be a Verizon customer.
I wouldn't purchase any third party cases without contacting the manufacturer first and ensuring the Mic placement on their case is open the exact mm away from the edge of the charging port.
This case might work, i ordered it for my tmobile note 4 but when i received it one of the mic holes was off.http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NB3AFM6/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_kX3sub1MRVEWY

UAG Cases are good to go! As well as the in house VZW TPU cases.
Curious... where on the phone is the mic that doesn't fit?

I'm using this and so far only issue is if you let the case folks while trying to take a picture can block some of the picture if your not careful, just need to hold the case against the camera while taking a photo.
I bought this one and has never shown up, is 3 days late! !
Will let you know once it finally arrives, asking with

Otterbox defender & commuter fit fine. Looks like they ovalized the left mic hole to be a universal accommodation. Just another reason why they're one of the best!

So wait stop, you mean to tell me Verizon actually moved the mic hole in their version?? Isn't that a little ridiculous? I thought it was a manufacturing error in my case since I just bought a random one off of amazon, but now it looks like nearly every case I buy will have this issue because verizon decided to move something in the hardware over 2mm???

I have been eyeballing the first one you listed as a sorta temporary case until more companies adjust to the Verizon difference. The price is right. Not sure how I will like the flap tho.

yeah...i know, doesn't look great, but works! hahaha.
Picked up the Incipio DualPro from a Verizon store tonight. The left side mic hole is elongated/bigger to accommodate the Verizon mic position. It it not covered by the case and works perfectly. The case is simiar to the Otterbox Commuter(2 piece case) but is a but thinner.
I get that incipio case delivered tomorrow, glad to hear it fits. I love the soft texture of the incipio case. I've used that same one on my last 3 phones and it's always protected my phones great.
