I have a Samsung Epic 4G Sph-D700. I have a basic root..these are my settings as of now- Kernal:2.6.35.7 build # -Gingerbread.FC09. I am wanting to put Ice cream sandwich or something cool and fun on my phone. But not sure if I can go ahead and do so, or if I need to flash something. This is my FIRST time doing this but am wanting to learn how to without E'ffing up my phone. Please help lol. Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend it. It's based on a leak which has the potential to permanently brick your device.

I ran it on mine and it was ok, but I was more fond of the GB based miui

XXJVS 2.3.5 (port candidate?)

Note: official XXJVS 2.3.5 version of gingerbread was released for I9000 on September 11, 2011. CWM flashable deodexed version has been posted in the Vibrant forum (see link.) Candidate for porting to 4g? I've downloaded it and I'm looking at it...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258224
Just an fyi for those that may be unaware. DO NOT FLASH THIS ON YOUR SGS4G!
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
no of course not, it has to be PORTED to 4g first. I figured everyone knew that you can't flash raw Vibrant roms to the 4g because we don't have an internal SD card. But someone has already taken care of the button mappings by porting it to Vibrant.
It's also an almost stock rom with no fancy additions, just gingerbread 2.3.5. Maybe Samsung will issue this for 4g soon but if not, a PORTED version might be a nice base for new custom roms.
I would never do such a thing, but reading through the brick threads, others have tried and will try to flash a non t959v ROM.

Yes i seen it happen to people thinking because they look the same they are the same..completely diffirent

Yeah and not just Vibrant roms either, if I remember right. This is just a heads up in case anyone wants to try to modify the rom or mine it for possible apps, or something.
I decompiled framework.jar and took a look at it, but here is the interesting problem about trying to port this rom. It's 2.3.5 gingerbread and we don't have a 2.3.5 kernel or modem for the 4g so we'd have to use a kernel and modem from gingerbread 2.3.4. So would that not work? I don't know. We haven't seen any gingerbread leaks from Samsung for a while and this rom was leaked for the I9000 on September 11th so do you suppose there may be a 2.3.5 rom coming out for the 4g?
I ported this using the gb kernels and got stuck on the boot animation screen. I'm going to probably work on it after I'm done with 2.3.5 miui port and release it.

EDIT
Went to the website that twitter account links to. Found this:

Looks like Samsung beat us to it. I was wondering if they might. And I picked today to leave my phone at home.
Great news. Thanks for all the info

AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich

This might be a dumb question because I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to this but could take the AOSP version of ICS that came out a few days ago as use hellraiser to get it to work even if only kinda work? I'm more asking what if? Or if you took what they have already ported to the i9000 and then flashed hellraiser would that work? I have been reading on the galaxy s 1 and 2 ports and I would be excited to see it on my phone. I know some people got the sdk to work on the infuse a bit but that's not what I'm talking about. Thanks!
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
PROBABLY
but just until theres a successful build for sgs... but as stated by Linux Bozo the sgs port its at the same stage as he is on the Infuse ICS, as he said " just a proof that its possible but nothing really works"... or... something like that hahaha you can check his posts.
So probably we will have to wait for a successful build for the Sgs first and then mod it for our Infuse and that would be our best shot.
Weren't those off the sdk's tho? Does the AOSP make it easier?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
That would be no on using hellraiser to run the i9000 port of ics ....totally different configuration...its more set up like cm7 ...that will be the best bet we have...been working on it myself ...adding galorec files moving files...modifying ...ect...I can get it to boot sometimes...and sometimes no....touchscreen wont work tho....so...if u try hellraiser...go ahead and have Odin pulled up with gtg unbrick loaded...lol

[Q] Is there a way we Install Ubuntu on Sidekick 4g?

Hey all, I bet alot of us Sidekick 4g owners are wondering the same question ... Can we install ubuntu on our Sidekick 4g? Is Someone or group or team doing so?
Doesn't seem very likely. I have not heard of any android phones running ubuntu. I could be wrong though

sofar i checked out linux installer on the market place but it was saying the device lacked a few dozen commands for terminal to work I think it be more possible if we had gingerbread on our phones an developement for loop devices.

I know that the g2 has Ubuntu on it.....

What would help is if one of our devs could tell us if there is loop device support for the roms that are avail cause thats what you need to get chroot linux running. If memory serves me right adam outler was thinking about deving a linux distro for our phone while he was working on the UNBRICKABLE mod for our phone.
U can ask adamoutler he has had interest obtaining ubuntu but does not have the device or one of disposal

Welcome, you're in the right place with your device. So, every ROM found in the dev section is indeed compatible with your phone.
As for start, you wanna have a failsafe recovery on your device. You will able to use it to backup/restore/flash, etc.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Once it is sorted, make a backup of your wind ROM, then head to the development section and choose your flavor of ROM.
If it is for the wife, I suggest pass on the ICS ROMs as for now.
Edit:
The most stable ROM is so subjective. There are a couple of thread asking the same question, read trough those please to get an idea.
There's also a thread called Wind mobile G2X users unite with some useful advice.
Good luck!

I'd also like to mention that most roms break the ability to send mms without annoying work arounds.

Hellfire Phoenix 2.1 is rock solid and doesn't have any issues with connection or mms. Also its one of the fastest and best supported roms out there with a ton of people willing to help good luck!
Pin it to Win it.

I would actually flash the faux 048 or Trinity elp kernel so you have accurate battery readings but the stock kernel is good too

Advice

Hi everyone I'm happy to say I have just purchased a nexus s and would appreciate some advice preferably with links
Firstly on rootimg and unlocking the bootloader ! Also is there a all-in-one tool. Secondly miui Roms hopefully Ginger bread based (I heard oodie is on this forum somewhere his miui prime roms is still the top on the xperia x10i two years later. Any advice is much appreciated Sent from my X10i using xda premium
> just purchased
I hope you got the phone almost for free because there is very little reason to buy a phone at these specs.
You really need two cores (they don't need to be 1.7ghz monsters) and a 1 gig (or at least 700mb~) of ram.
I payed £64 for the phone I know its not dual core but I just want a standard phone which has a good graphical gpu and still has a decent development.
I have/used to have a xperia x10i and development has slowed right down in regards to ics/jb however pound for pound the nexus packs the biggest punch! Thus the reason for the purchase
I just want miui gingerbread working and I am happy

Welcome, if you want a latest stable official MIUI 2.3.7, you can find it on my google drive.
I bought my nexus 3 months ago, it was brand new and cost ~ £200, but it was last model in my country.
I always wanted to have this phone, and I don't feel like I have to have dual core phone now. Jellybean on NS is fast as hell.
here are all most popular roms for nexus s

happy flashing and using nexus!
My philosophy exactly!!!!
Which ROM is it exactly? I am not aware there was an official miui ROM for this device? Also what kernel if any is needed? Also is it a English ROM?
I am new here like i said i have had a xperia x10i since 2010 and i have nexus 7 16gb that is why I went for the nexus 3 the exact model is Gt-19020t I understand there is different variants/ models .
This is an exciting time for me I am glad there are like minded people on this forum I think I have made the correct decision

Best combo for me is latest 2.3.7c (there is also MIUI 2.3.7 Scotland version) with latest franco's kernel.
ROM: https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B...sp=sharing&docId=0BxlS0gt4GJLMaGtPYzIzQndCNkU
Kernel: https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B...sp=sharing&docId=0BxlS0gt4GJLMT0lLcm9rZnZyY0E
You can try Brainmaster MIUI also, it has included it's own kernel inside.
Search it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1181050
Oh, Brainmaster's is multilanguage, official is only English/Chinese.
Does anybody have the gingerbread miui.us ROM anywhere?
