So the X has back, home, and recents capacitive buttons but not the "options" button.
Most apps create an options bar at the bottom of the screen. Is this something that can be disabled?

From the looks of it, some apps haven't updated to the new holo design scheme. Some apps need to make use of the action bar a little better. Look at gmail and google maps for reference. If you don't like it there's a possibility to remap the menu key to long pressing the home key (it's been done on the international one x).
I personally hate it! It takes up too much real estate
We need to get a ROM ASAP that remaps the menu button to long-press multitasking or something and then get rid of the onscreen button!
Now if only we could get a bootloader unlock/root...

Here's Google reader with a menu button on the upper right where it should be, and another one on the bottom of the screen.

Yea, I noticed the double options as well.
It just doesn't make sense.

App developers just haven't taken the time to optimize the apps yet, just a month ago ICS was a huge minority, and it still is, but with more and more phones being released with ics, we'll see optimized apps, and the weird soft key will go away.
The long press home idea is great, btw.

Imho the new adw.launcher is the best home replacement! It's like launcher pro but it's nicer and more options. I recommend to all or at least give it a try and please tell what you think...
+1
I was waiting and waiting for this to finally come packaged in a method not requiring root. It's super sleek and has a ton of options. I love it.
thanks I was just looking for a new home replacement too
I definitely love the insane amount of options but I dunno, just didnt do it for me. Im gonna have to give this one to LauncherPro.
where can I find it at? is it called Adw.launcher?

Wow, its a nice launcher...I do wish for an option to save settings to sd card.
Installed once, and it was nice. I tried reinstalling it and I can't get it to come up. How do you start it initially? Last time I just hit the home button and it gave me the option...

Am I the only person that has noticed a somewhat annoying amount if lag with this launcher?
While I can say it's a nice looking launcher, I just can't say that I would use it in a day to day basis.

I'm aware of this, but since this project is open source perhaps it will be the first? Open source is better than proprietary any day!
senseui and it's widgets aren't open source though, so no dice. the closest we get is beautiful widget
Im pretty sure theres nothing like this out there, but i think it would be really cool if you could hide the notification bar and only have it show when you pull it down on the top of the screen. I think it would look much cleaner.
So your screen would look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
until you pulled the bar down on the top of the screen.
There is an action in launcher pro that allows that. Or something similar.

There is an ADW.Launcher setting that already allows this. There another setting to hide the dock too.
Yeah I use it in lp. Don't like having the time show in two places on one screen. It pops up everywhere else but home, real nice.

I havn't found a browser that I like 100%. I like Dolphin but I want something a little more clean/simple. Thats why, yesterday, I thought of making my own in photoshop (for now).
Let me know what you think.

So, that would be the main page. The three dots next to the Google logo would be a drop down menu for switching search engines and including others like Wikipedia, Wolfram-Alpha, Yahoo, ect. The icons at the bottom are from left to right: Home, Tabs (like when you do a home screen view on Sense/Launcher Pro/ADW/Go Launcher), Back/Front (Can be used on websites or tabs), Bookmarsk, Options.
The whole thing would also go into full screen mode and the top and bottom navigation bars would be brought up using the menu button (optional).
Again, very simple. At the bottom you have your main operations. Sort by (most viewed, alphabetical, ect.), Edit bookmark names/urls, and batch delete.
This is options menu. Options are seperated into three categories, Display, User and Misc.
I just realized that I forgot the enable/disable toggles (duh).
Anyway, this is pretty much my dream browser more or less. Im still working on some other things in photoshop.
Let me know what you guys think.
By the way, I got most of the icons from here...

I guess I would have to make my own if I actually developed this.

Not sure what you mean by that. If I used the native style of Android wouldn't it be just like the stock browser? Therefore, it would be pointless in me making one?
Im by no means a professional UI designer so im probably misunderstanding what you are saying.
I do agree with you about apps that Android doesn't already have stock though.

Hi guys,
I want to share my application called GoHome which should help to use Galaxy Note on the go.
I've wrote and shared this application not for the money. It helps me to hold Galaxy Note with one hand and use it with comfort.
This application duplicates menu, home, back navigation buttons.
If you on the go it's better to swipe on the top than try to press Home button by thumb.
This is a beta version (design is not ready for preferences).
It has been verified on CM9 (some functionality will not work for GB (back, menu), I'm working on it)
I'll upload it into market soon.
Application itself is completely invisible. Preferences show four color areas where you should pull.
Preferences screen and howto:

What does it do? The pictures aren't loading....
Sorry for picture. I've fixed url.
It duplicates home, back, menu buttons. But all this is on the top of screen. It helps you to avoid pressing to physical home button which is hard to press on the go (with one hand)

Dude you forgot one thing.
ICS doesn't need the Home button to be held down. Just hit the "Tasks" button, voila!
Its faster than yours.
Anyways thanks for this, it should be useful.
Especially for those that swap out the "Tasks" button for the Menu button.
But now on most custom roms (eg AOKP) you can customize the Nav-buttons and give them gestures: eg swipe up on Menu button to launch "Tasks" list.
I dont know why, but for some reason when I swipe between screens on my desktop, it appears a Panda on the bottom left corner as shown in the screenshot (also the ears on the top left corner). It is actually the Triple Town Icon, but if I remove the app from the desktop, it keeps showing up.
It also appears a white "shinning", but once I restart the device, it all disappears and goes back to normal. Is not annoying at all, just curious. Any idea why this could happen?

Are you using any apps that could be from less-than-legitimate sources or developers?

Obviously your are running a theme, as evident by the white shiny background to your launcher shots. I notice an aftermarket app drawer button.
Go back to stock everything and I bet it's gone.

The shiny background is part of the "bug" and I manually changed the app drawer button within "framework-res.apk" :good:
Now the panda is gone, its strange. As I said, its not annoying at all, just "funny stuff".
As AlexDeGruven said non legitimate apps do tend install junk to, same as a PC.
I'm sure since your rooted, it installed it with out you knowing. (when you installed the panda app)

That's a sneaky panda you got there. What I usually do is spread out some bamboos on my home screen and wait for him to come out. Then I catch him with my finger and throw him in the garbage can. If he comes back rinse and repeat, If you run out of bamboos your screwed.
