Hi,
I've been incessantly reading through this forum and am loving it. Read most of the case debates and anker vs mugen debates. I've recently got my Sensation and being a clumsy oaf have decided to case it - no matter the bulk.
From what I've read Otterbox cases have a few flaws, as does the Case mate tough series. Seidio seems to be holding people in good stead but i'm undecided about it. (yes I read the mini review and other threads)
The ballistic seems to be getting thumbs up all around (even on amazon and here)
http://www.goballisticcase.com/products/htc-sensation-4g-ballistic-shell-gel-sg-series-case
Am really leaning towards that.
The Aegis Trident seems less protective but has a cool feature that I thought was really thoughtful - the silicone flaps for each of the orifices (so to speak) to protect the openings from dust
http://www.tridentcase.com/case/htc/htc-sensation/htc-sensation-aegis-case.html
Comes in a lot of colour options too.
Would like your inputs in deciding between the two. Or possibly Seidio.
Ballistic is great, except for the weak point, hard plastic above the volume button.
It could crack when you take it off or put it on, or if you drop the phone left-top corner down...

Using the Otterbox commuter. The commuter is ALRIGHT but the flap that covers the headphone jack keeps popping out and the phone is a tad slippery. However as a whole it's a good case that is not too bulky unlike the ballistic.

I have the ballistic and love it had it for a month and it hasnt broke on me yet. It looks super nice as well lol.
Thanks guys!
It is really necessary to have those flaps? The ppl with seidio and Ballistic (sans flaps) do not seem to be complaining about the lack of it.
I don't mind bulk but I work in a school (dusty environment) and I want to protect my new possession.
So I suppose Commuter is back in the reckoning - reviews suggest issues with the headphone flap and a cheap A$$ screen protector which covers only the display area.
And I think the Aegis is out.
Just for looks value i like the TUT case as well But it has charging port issues. Have the later iterations eliminated this? Can anyone confirm?
I have all three cases Trident offers most protection just to big for me. Otterbox when new was great, then some weeks later flaps got flimsy and kept popping out. Seidio which has open ports is not only slim but feels great in the hand and offers just as much protection as the Otterbox other then it being dust proof.

+1 to ballistic, I was on the same boat as you looking for a good case, I bought the ballistic and never looked back!

Would that be CaseMate? Tough?
There are quite a few threads open about cases already...
I bought a 2$ silicone case from dealextreme, still waiting for it to come in, but good reviews on it.

I am sure it's been mentioned before and there are probably even some reviews, but I can highly, highly recommend the Case-Mate Tough for the Desire HD. It's an amazing case, by far the best one I've used.
I've had it for a couple of months already. It fits great, looks great and feels great in my hands. So far after 2 months of use it looks like brand new - no wear around the edges. One thing I was a little bit concerned about in the beginning is that the bottom part, which is rubber only (look-up some pictures) would stretch and sag, but that hasn't happened at all.
Just go out and get one, you won't be disappointed ;-)
I got a Case-mate Barely There case.
It's good enough for me as i haven't dropped my phone so far. usually happens in the first few days.
Screen film is also great, can barely see it and the phone is perfectly usable.
I Got A E-Cell Carbon Fiber Case,
Got It Off Ebay For £4.99
Seems To Be Of Decent Build Quality
Tough case user here too, awesome case. Lovin it.
no cases ftw
I am using one from Capdase (http://www.capdase.com/en/product5.php?cid=1&bid=5&mid=1153&pid=8890)
Has been serving me well and saved a drop too! DHD becomes more rugged with this.
Otterbox is the best bet for protection. I'm currently using the defender series. It feels really safe and secure. Although quite expensive, well worth the investment.

I've just got the otterbox commuter and it seems great, phone feels really good to hold in the hand and looks like it will protect phone if I drop it
Bought on eBay for $6.00 from someone in Brooklyn. Very simplistic. Adds a nice grip feel. Doesn't provide any impact protection from drops over two feet. I'm pretty sure about that statement. When otter box releases a commuter or defender I'll be switching. Overall for general wear and tear protection, the best $6 spent for this phone.

Suffered a nice fall today. Was walking looking at an email. Shoulder checked a massive column in a mall. Silver Bezel on bottom took a nice ding. Rest of phone is fine, no cracks to front or back. Ordered a diztronic case. If it wasn't for the exposed top and bottom of the case it would have been fine. It did however protect the two most important parts of the phone. So it gets an A- in its short time of use. Lesson learned, pay attention when walking.

I'm still waiting for Nillkin to release a TPU case! Surely these hard cases do nothing to dampen the impact?

Yes, especially when it hits marble. Its not bad but disheartening considering its less than 48 hours old. Fortunately, rooted 4.2.2 with the new boot loader and radio put a huge smile on my face and the diztronic will cover it up anyway. I'm fortunate that nothing broke, and its still just a phone.

Do you find the case slick/slippery to the touch/hold? I have one, but felt the plastic was too slick even with the pebbled surface and decided to switch to a ballistic. I do like it and if the phone wasn't covered in glass, I might have stuck with it.
Yeah it was a little slippery. that's how I ended up losing grip.

So I bought the Poetic case first and while I like it I need the holster for work. I refuse to put my nice phone in my pocket with the screen rubbing my leg.
The Seidio is a nice case but its rubber and not strong enough. So I took the outer piece from the Seidio and the Poetic bumper and snapped them together. Fits like it was made for it. Holster works great. Before you couldn't "snap" the phone into the holster because of the flemsy rubber but with this you can. Makes it much easier to attach the phone when the holster is on your belt.
Thought I'd share. Good cheap option for current Seidio Active case owners.

I plan to get a piece of rubber the same thickness as the gap between the Seidio piece and the back of the phone.
This is pretty damn good tough protection for a delicate device. I love it.

Nice combo! I never would have put those together, very well done modding lol.
Thanks for the holster!

Looks pretty good! Personally, I don't like carrying my phone on my belt, the only person I know who does that is my father!
I have a Gadgetshieldz screen protector (which I wouldn't really recommend) and a dbrand skin (love it), and a microfiber pouch from EverySewOften (bought one because I really loved my Nexus One neoprene pouch, this one is good too), so I keep my phone in my pocket.
Question: Does NFC still work with the case? I ask because my dad's SGS3 with a hard cover case refuses to read NTAG203 NFC tags.
Cheers

I hardly drop my phone, and no I'm not being ignorant or cocky and saying "I'll never drop my phone". So I don't know can't find any cases of my like
If you can't find any you like, you dont HAVE to buy a case...

But then again, I don't want to spend to much. I want a stylish case. any recommendation?
neo hybrid is probably one of the more stylish cases (though costs $30)

It is like you buy insurance, if you know when you will drop it, there is nothing to talk about, but $20-30 to protect your $600-700 investment I think really is worth it.
Check out the Poetic Atmosphere case, here's my review on it

It's a nice looking case and it's cheap too.
Sent from Flip's S4
I've been through two feature phones and three smart phones and I never used a case until this one. For previous phones I would at most put a skin on them. I dropped my last two phones (Palm Pre and Nexus S) from ~2 feet a few times and each time it landed on a corner. No major damage, just scuff marks. The reports across the web are that the S4 doesn't hold up too well in comparison to other phones when dropped. The screen runs right to the corner which makes me worry. That plus the phone being so much larger (and harder to hold on to) made me decide to go for a case. I went with the Spigen Neo Hybrid, and I think it's great. Doesn't add much thickness, looks great and should protect the phone.
If you're looking for something stylish, I'd recommend either Verus Oneye - http://www.zoarah.com/by-brand/verus/#ty%3Bpagination_contents%3B%2Fby-brand%2Fverus%2Fpage-2%2F
Or
Spigen Slim Armor - http://www.spigen.com/galaxy-s4-case-slim-armor.html
Or If you dont mind a big case(with better protection), a Trident Aegis - http://www.tridentcase.com/shop-products/samsung-galaxy-iv-i9505/aegis-case-samsung-galaxy-iv-i9505.aspx
Today I went shopping for alternatives while waiting for the Spigen Neo Hybrid I ordered from across the atlantic, and stumbled across Samsungs own Protective Cover +. I had no idea what I was buying, but thought it could be worth the 20 bucks. Turns out it's actually a pretty solid case, with a sturdy polycarbonate back and what looks like TPU all around the sides. It even has holes on one of the corners to fit wrist straps and such.
I'm not a big fan of the grey TPU for the white version, but other than that I'm really impressed. Despite its name it's probably no more protective than a basic TPU shell though, in particular because it doesn't add more than a millimeter height to the edge of the screen.

Maybe a slim back cover is your like, covers are form-fitting snap-on covers that protect your cell phone without adding a lot of bulk, have openings for camera, volume/ side buttons, headset, charger jack and kickstand which allows access to all phone functions.
Nope, they aren't worth it when there is need for cheap Black Market spare parts.
Not a case man either but this case made me keep the S4. lol As far as being worth it ummm yea it's a 500 + phone. Only takes one drunk night. hehe
I recently acquired a Poetic Affinity case to review and to going to give my honest opinions compared to Spigen Rugged Armor case.
This case is a hybrid of TPU and polycarbonate, which gives the case stability as well increased grip/flexibility. The extra TPU along the corners and edges of the case help give the phone shock absorption as well as keeps the phone stable while texting on a table.

Before receiving this case I had the impression that the case would be obtrusive and giving added bulk to a slim phone. The case is actually very low profile, and very easy to handle or pull out of your pocket. One issue I have had in the past with cases are their fitment with a tempered glass screen protector, but paired with Intelliglass hd it fits perfectly!
One big improvement this case has compared to the Spigen case are the tactile feel of the volume and power buttons. They are very responsive and can easily differentiate between the volume buttons and power button. All of the cutouts fit precisely (including camera and laser autofocus) and there is no interference with headphone jack or USB type C cable. The fingerprint scanner is easily accessible as well, which was a concern of mine by adding a case.
The only complaint that I have with this case is the location of the branding. The P is right in the middle on the back of the case which is right over the Nexus logo. This is not a big concern for me, but its a minor one.
Overall this case has added a tremendous amount of grip without adding to the overall bulk of the phone. I have not had any drops while using this case so I cannot comment on the protection, but it seems it would protect against minor to moderate falls. I can honestly recommend this case to anyone looking to increase the grip without adding much bulk to the phone.
I got this case also. I kind of like it more than my spigen a little

+1 to this.
I also bought the Spigen first but wanted a more transparent case that wasn't black since I did order the Crystal White for a reason.
It's very nice. I've had quite a few co-workers buy it once they saw mine. All in all worth the money.
