Map long press multitask button to search - HTC One S

Is there any way through the build prop to map the long press of the multitask button to search? That way when I'm on the home screen I can hold the button and voice search will start up?

Should be possible, reviewers remapped the multi task and settings keys..maybe ask in his Rom thread.
Btw wrong section. You'll probably get more info in the general section. This thread will probably end up getting moved or closed..

How do you post using the XDA Premium App?

I can't seem to figure out how to post using the app, only lets me read, but not comment. What has to be done so I can comment while using it???
Have you signed in to your account within the app? Once signed in you have the option of a longpress on a message in a thread to bring up options. Also a press of a menu button on your device (if you have a menu key) should also bring up reply options while reading a thread.
good day.
If you do not sign in the menu's will not have the reply, comment, edit, or new thread options
Where is the official thread of this app?

I believe we need to wait for root.. I'll scour google to see if there are any apps out there that can remap these buttons without it though and see what I find.
I can't fathom how they thought it made more sense to launch a resource-hungry app instead of using the already brilliant built-in search interface... but whatever.
"hey, our phone has a genius button, because we're all too stupid to figure out how to search ourselves! "
What annoys me about the genious button is that it forces you to talk when you might not want to. Again it's marketing people thinking with their mouths instead of their brains.

Multitasking bar for cm9

Does anyone know if u are able to reprogram the search button as multitasking? If not is anyone here capable and willing to reprogram it for some of us who I'll use it because I rarely touch the search button. Anyone else would like this except for me? Btw I'm running eagesblood, Thanks in advance
I second that request. That'd be way more useful than the search button
Do you mean the recently used/running task list? That's accessed by pressing home one the first home screen.

I would love this. Seem to remember CM7 having custom application launching for touch and hold search button so it might be a feature that just hasn't been implemented yet.
I have seen customizable keyboard modifications for devices with physical keyboards in order to remap some of the less useful keys to something worth while. When I have more time I may try to dig it up and see how complicated it is. Anyone care to tackle this? I probably don't have the knowledge to complete.

You can customize the home key in cm9 like you can customize the search key in cm7. You need to install Apex launcher. It have a lot of features you would like. This launcher do everything like cm7. Try it out.

Can you just remap it with Button remapper or Tasker?

Button remapper won't work because it doesn't remap the long press stuff like multitasking.

Soft keys or nav bar

I haven't found it in the settings, but is there a way to hide the soft keys and cue them with a gesture or something?

Moved to Q&A. Even though your question thread may be "Theme & App" related it's still a question so should be.
Thanks
