I had unlocked it a while back ( never tested ) but now I have ICS and I am trying *#7465625# but nothing happens. I want to use it in India, can someone tell me the new code or best way to find if its unlocked and if not, what do I use?
Once unlocked, it is unlocked forever... Samsung Codes don't work on AOSP ROMs. Did you follow XDA rules and search, no because you would have found your answer in an instant...

I googled which gives me xda results but wasnt sure..can u tell me how I can tell if its unlocked? please
There should be an answer somewhere. You can try using a SIM from a local Indian cell company and see if it works. Assuming the phone does not read the SIM or give signal, it will mean your cappy is not unlocked.

wanna make sure b4 that, I will search more
So I did lot of searching ( atleast I think I did )
So bottom line is, you cannot check via code in ICF, if unlocked or not
If I had unlocked before, then it should remain that way
Only way to tell is to re-install with 2.3, check to see if unlocked and re-install ICS
Try a SIM, but that means I have to take a chance, I want to make sure before I travel
Any other advice?
Well as already stated once unlocked always unlocked. But if you must look you could download hex editor from play and open /efs/nv_data.bin. Jump to address 181468 and see if the next digits after ff is 01 or 00. 00 is network unlocked.

What if its 01
Then it is network locked

Could changing that to 00 unlock it?

Yes it will. But make a backup of the .bin first as always . Change to 00 save and reboot.

I spent hours trying to get my MSL code. None of the methods I found really worked on the Motorola Triumph.
Eventually, I found my own method and it's way easier than any other method I've seen. You don't need to mod your phone in any way to get this working.
Download and install aLogcat (free) from the Android Market.
Run aLogcat and set it to filter for "sec_code"
Go to your Phone apk and dial ##33284#
When prompted for the MSL, type 000000.
Now, go to aLogcat. It should have found a "sec_code:" line with your MSL code at the end of it. It's 6 digits.
Hope that helps.
works beautifully
Much easier indeed!
Ahhh! I waited 2 Weeks of constant clicking on the snoop page link to get mine.. where were you then . Just kidding. works good, nice job!

Woo Hoo!!! that was awesome how quick and easy it was.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is the MSL good for?

its good for swapping the PRL out for roaming on Verizon, and potentially better service within Sprint's coverage area. Only thing is, you have to pay extra for roaming but i am not really sure...

Cannot roam on Verizon
Virgin Mobile cannot roam on Verizon Network, only use Sprint towers
this method worked great!
Thanks!!

Once you have your MSL. Then search here for replacing PRL.
So I tried the method mentioned by the OP but no luck. It doesn't seem to work when I dial ##332284# in my phone...it just says invalid number.
I also tried visiting the Virgin Mobile website to look up the MSL there, but it doesn't seem to work anymore.
My phone is rooted and I have CyanogenMod on my phone...perhaps that is the issue? Is there another way to get my MSL?

Thanks, I figured this out. For the benefit of anyone stumbling upon this thread, if you're using a custom ROM like CyanogenMod, you can only use this method in a stock ROM (AFAIK). So if you made a stock backup, back up your current ROM, flash back to the stock, follow these instructions and write down your MSL, and then flash back to your current ROM backup.
If you don't have a stock ROM backup, you can search on Google for one.
METHOD 1: I purchased an unlock code that wroked first try....
COST $22
I would like to share my experience for those who do not want to get scammed.
IT WILL TAKE 24 hrs AT LEAST with these guys so don't set your pants on fire waiting !!! I have used this site for all my phones.
Send an email [email protected]. Send IMEI and carrier details, country of carrier.
Then use code to unlock. If you need help entering code please post back.
METHOD 2: I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS. BUT There is another method to unlock the phone using a USB hack. This has worked for most people who tried it. It involves running software on your computer to replace the unlock code location via USB with zeros. This method is covered here in more details:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1617999
User experience is also available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25480419#post25480419
The ebay method seems to work for now. it can run from $15 -$17.

Nope. Unlocked is when you can use it on a carrier other than At&t. With the skyrocket you have to buy an unlock code. Bloatware is removed in custom roms.

Welcome !
They are different things. Unlocking is SIM card unlocking that then allows you to use your phone on any GSM network.
Removing bloatware requires "rooting". You get access to system files etc. allowing you to modify the software on there.
This a good starting point for Skyrocket to modify software:

Does the non accepted sim register? Are you on a stock rom?
You have to be on a stock-based gingerbread ROM.

Stock ICS works as well. Was on Skyics had to revert back to stock for it to prompt the code requisition screen. All is well now. On a different note if on att in good account standing call and have them open a case number requesting for imei based unlock code even if they tell you code not availabile. Can get it free of cost.

If I recall correctly, when you put in a sim from another carrier and boot the phone, it will give you a message indicating it is locked and give you the option to enter the unlock code.
Good luck!
If one was wanting Tmobile, wouldn't you have to flash the modem? My phone is also unlocked but don't have a sim card to test it on tmobile

Can also bring up the prompt with #7465625*638*#
So a relative of mine came from Spain and he bought with his 10.1 3g version. I wanted to know how could I unlock it to use it here on either A&TT or T-Mobile. I having a hard time looking for a correct answer. If anyone could please direct me to the correct way of doing so.
THANKS !!!
Just dial the following keys *#197328640#
Can you try these steps?
Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > (after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in [6] Network Lock then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone... enjoy!!! There is no confirmation on the phone that the unlock was successfull.... just reboot your phone....
To test, just insert a sim card from a different carrier/provider. If the new sim card works then your phone is now unlocked.
Tried what u said but I get to a point that I can't input what u said. [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF >
Here is what I see
Anyone ?? Else could help me out to unlock this...

I am not formally recommending this but you can try to sell it on craigslist as a 3g galaxy note tablet and then run.
I am not sure if it will work but what if we install a German Rom after doing a complete wipe should unlock it experts can comment
Try it no harm in it

Try flashing another official ROM and repeat. Spanish carriers enjoy making things hard tinkering with their roms and of course will not unlock it for free
If everything else fails, I'd invest in a IMEI unlocking provider. It would be around 12€ for a Movistar/Vodafone Note. I think it's worth the price.
Since you seem to be colombiano, you'll have no problem following the instructions from spanish pages. I'd recommend you one or two.
I haven't rooted it yet since is not mine. But yes I'm colombiano lol n I don't mind paying the €12 if I can get the imei. I will try once again it got an update this week so will give it a go n try once again. Where are the pages in Spanish

If you think paying 12€ is worth, then you'll be happy to know that 2€ will do the magic.
I've just picked my N8000 Note from spanish carrier Movistar, rooted it following the tutorial available here on XDA, downloaded, GalaxSim Unlock (Spocky) from Google Play, ran it, bought the Pro version (just 2€), and it unlocked.
Estimated process time for somedbody who knows how to flash with Odin and then from Recovery, 15 minutes

I had an unlock code from them. The actually unlock code is one of the 8 digit blocks in the middle of the code they sent you. The unlock code is only numbers, no letters.
