Connection failed caused by authentication error - T-Mobile LG G2x

Can anyone tell me their device management sever settings for the firmware over the air. That has received the new update to 2.3.4? I can tell you how to get to the settings to see what they are

I'm getting this error as well. I did the update to v21y a couple weeks ago with the LG tool. but my phone keeps prompting me with "You can check a new software". Way to go in english class. Tmobile tells me LG is pushing the update not them and gives me the LG support number.
I'm already on 21y and am being prompted to check for the update and then authentication error. Maybe this version of 21y is slightly different.

Could you tell me the server settings?

I am getting this error as well. I was running CM7.2 rc1 and decided to night to revert to stock to see if I could get the ota.
I used CWM to restore to stock 2.3.3 using the download from gunman's thread. Cleared dalvik, cache and did a factory restore. I noticed superuser was still on there so I flashed jboxers zip to unroot, then used nvflash to restore stock recovery. Cleared cache, dalvik and did another factory reset to be sure.
Checking for an update I don't get a message about whether my phone is up to date or not, I get a message saying it can't connect to the server due to an authentication error.
This happened to me last time there was an ota update. To go from Froyo to GB I had to use the LG tool because my phone wouldn't authenticate with tmo's servers.
It's not a second hand phone or anything. I bought it directly from a tmo store. Dunno why it won't ever authenticate for an ota update.

My g2x did that for the 2.3.3 update on the new one it downloads then had the authentication error. The offline fix for the update works great though

What to do if you're unable to update with LG Updater?

Several of us on XDA have been experiencing the "Phone is already latest version" message in the LG Updater Tool. Is there a way to get past this? I've tried almost everything. I reflashed stock recovery... Did a factory reset. Uninstalled all the drivers. Reinstalled everything. Deleted everything that had to do with LG on my computer... I keep getting the same message. Someone please help! I know it's not the official GB update, but at least it's better than Froyo! Any tips?

Since its not an t-mobile official release not everyone can use the LG update tool to update.
Since I was getting the same msg you were I ended up rooting my phone and installing the rooted version xboarder put up here. Otherwise you'll have to keep trying and wait till t-mobile sends out the ota for the public.

[Q] WTH? My stock Thunderbolt just updated istelf!

I'm noticing in other threads than OTA update has been pushed, but again - WTH? I noticed this morning my Thunderbolt was downloading the update. I hopped on the internet to check this site about what this update would contain. While logging on, I heard my Thunderbold do the short vibrate reboot sound - I looked over and it apparently had not only downloaded the update, but flashed it as well - completely wiping my settings/data in the process!
I had been holding off rooting for lack of time, but now there is no reason to wait. And I can't believe, if I'm not the only one this has happened to, that there won't be a lot of PISSED Thunderbolt owners out there...
This is common practice for OTAs to update automatically. That's why they PUSH the updates.

I rejected it error code 401 hopefully it will not update.
If I have to pull battery then I think I'm screwed holding off till bugs surface and they send out patches

I found mine updated this morning. But no settings or anything wiped, just the new gingerbread software, new verizon included software (or updated).
Have stock TB. Found OTA new update and downloaded it. Most of my settings were still there. Had old GB update and did a factory reset 2x trying to fix issues. New OTA fixed issues I was having.

I get that, but wiping the device should require the owner's approval.
An update on this: apparently, it has only wiped the device, as now it wants to do the update. Curious (and maddening) that it's asking permission to do the update but wiped the device without warning. Maybe the wiping is a prep step for the update? Still doesn't justify it.
I could even give Verizon and/or HTC the benefit of the doubt and say that wiping was some sort of bug, but it still should never have happened. I'm in the mood to root it now, so hopefully it will be a moot point...
Mine trys to update, but I just get the "!" with the small blue-android.
I just reboot it, and it says "update failed" and I go on my merry way.

Nexus S Not Connecting to Network on Reboot

My dad's Nexus S keeps disconnecting from Wind and will NOT automatically reconnect to Wind. I've set it to Automatic. On top of this, *every* time I enable Wifi or Bluetooth on his device, his Wind connection drops and remains dropped until I manually reconnect.
The only way around this issue is if I manually select Wind's network in the settings menu, thereby avoiding 'Select automatically'. The problem here is that when the phone needs a reboot, it doesnt remember the last network and it needs to be manually selected *again*.
I've done a quick search via Google and there are others having the same/similar problem;
http://www.google.ca/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=34411ac78e8a4ff6&hl=en
Apparently the 2.3.6 update doesn't fix this either. Is there a 2.3.7 release? I'm even thinking of rooting and flashing the phone to use a custom ROM (MIUI, its much cleaner with better shortcuts which my dad would like).
Does anyone know of a solution to this? I'm thinking of going into Wind and having it replaced (its less than a week old). Question is, if he's racked up more than 30 minutes, can he still get a straight exchange for the phone? Would it still be eligible for exchange/replacement if I tried the ICS update to the phone?
Did you guys root the phone? Ans if you did, did you installed custom rom? If so, it just might be the incompatibility with the Nexus S. If you didn't root it, the phone just might be defected. Try updating the os. It always doesn't hurt to update os. If that doesn't work, I guess you should return it and get the new one it somethign :/

At the minimum, I would try updating to 2.3.6.
Yeah try to update to newer os. And if that doesn't work, I guess you should exchange your phone or something??

I've updated my original question with more details.
But no, its not a rooted phone. Everything is stock Android 2.3.4. The phone is only about 5 days old, we got it for him on the 27th of December (or 26th, cant remember). I have installed a few applications (cnn news, wp.pl, bbc news, unit converter, etc). I've updated all the applications as well.
How can I obtain 2.3.6 and install it? Is the process difficult and would it render the phone non-returnable to his carrier for fixing/replacing?
If you have stock, the process is easy was snap if there's a avaliable ota update to your phone. Go to setting-about phone-system update (I'm pretty sure) and if there's an update for your phone, you can download and install the new rom from there.

Hi, I have the exact same problem as the original poster, except worse.
I lose my data connection when I turn on wifi, or after I reboot my phone. And once I lose the connection, I have to power off and take out the battery for it to work again. My phone was already rooted when this problem start about 4 days ago, was using stock rom (2.3.6) I downloaded for my I9020T (don't ask, minor hiccup when I was rooting my phone...)
So far I've tried the following:
1. boot to CWM recovery -> factory reset, wipe cache, unsuccessful
2. *#*#4636#*#*, changed preferred network to WCMDA preferred or only, unsuccessful (I also had issues with sending SMS, so I also updated the SMSC, which is 07916174080001f6 for Mobilicity in Canada). Also selected "Automatic" in "Select radio band".
3. I flashed the OS to cyanogen, still same problem.
4. In mobile settings, tried changing apn, toggle data connection, 2g/3g, "Select automatically", doesn't work.
5. a whole bunch of other voodoo I found on the web, but none worked.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is flashing with a stock sbf, because I can't seem to be able to find one.
The error message I see in *#*#4636#*# -> Phone info is something like DcInactiveConnection...: unknown data error (sorry can't remember the whole thing).
Also tried asking mobilicity to refresh my service, but that also didn't help.
I ran logcat in terminal emulator and searched through the log for "error" or anything suspicious, the only thing I saw were these,
1. Error loading keycharmap file '/system/usr/keychars/herring-keypad.kcm.bin'
2. caused by: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Connection timed out
I/TelephonyRegistry( 188): notifyDataConnection: state=0 isDataConnectivityPossible=false reason=apnSwitched interfaceName=null networkType=3
I/TelephonyRegistry
3. onErrorResponse: Failed to send 5 events because of [com.android.volley.TimeoutError]
D/Volley
Tried googling all of them but didn't find anything useful.
I've been at this for the past 4 days and still haven't been able to fix this. I tried swapping in another mobilicity sim card and it also had the same behaviour, so it's definitely something with my phone.
Also, after I power down and remove the battery and power it back up again, the connection still doesn't come back automatically, but I have to toggle the airplane mode to get it to connect.
At this point, what else can/should I try? Or should I just ask them to send it for warranty?
Any help/advice will be VERY much appreciated!!!! And apologies for the essay.
Thanks!
NM, I reread your post. I have nothing for you. Sorry.

Downgrade from ics 4.0.4 to 2.3.6?

I upgraded my moms nexus s tmobile version from 2.3.6 to ics 4.0.4. She doesn't like the gui and the performance. It seems slow.
I looked online here and downloaded the rom for the tmobile nexus s but it wont install. It keeps showing error code 7 and it fails when verifying the rom.
What going on. Is it possible to downgrade back to 2.3.6 stock without rooting or modding?
Please help. Thanks.

Not possible from a strictly stock sense. Generally, you'll need to unlock the bootloader and lose all data on the phone and then flash 2.3.x with a custom recovery like CWM.

Make a factory reset and tell your mom to use ICS at least for a month.

If your device is a i9020t then flash the 'soju' images for 2.3.6 direct from Google here:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
It'll probably keep notifying you to update to 4.0.4 though.
I'm about to downgrade to Gingerbread as well. I'm fed up with the mute call bug. I can't believe Google has not released any fix yet, what a lack of professionalism.

What mute call bug? Can you elaborate as i've never noticed it.
Whenever I make a call, I can't hear the person and can't be heard neither. I have to call down and call right away a 2nd time to make it work.
A couple of NS users reported the problem on xda
HA! Something similar happened to me last night. It has never happened to me before. I recently had to fix my phone's mic and thought me tinkerning with it resulted in the issue. Glad to see it wasn't just me. I cleared the data for the phone application and it's working again. Not sure if that was how it was fixed but I rebooted and the problem was still there and I promptly cleared the data after the initial try on the reboot. Did you guys have an issue with the phone not giving you the ringing tone when making the outgoing call?

I tried that. It still gives the unverified error code 7 message.
Are you following the exact instructions on the google page and using fastboot to flash?
wipe cache partition then wipe dalvik cache wipe batter stats and make sure device is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked then make sure you have the 2.3.6 for your version of the device then flash hopefully should work
Flash Oxygen if you don't want ICS!! Enough said.

Phone not getting updates

I have been rooted and flashing for a while with this beast of a phone. I went back to stock unrooted MB1 a few days ago and I check for software updates every so often and it keeps saying there is no new update. I even tried through Kies last night and it said MB1 was the latest software. I also tried clearing cache in google framework and force stopping it. I can't figure out why it isn't seeing any updates.
