[Q] How can I reinstall DMClient.APK? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I erased by mistake the DMClient.APK file from /system/apps folder, it's on WW .21 version of stock rom, can anyone help me by getting the file sent to me and explain how to put again in the folder, as I tryed to do it by simply copying to folder and gave me an error with one I tested.
Do I need to install as usual? Or wich process is the recommended for it?
I have ROM Toolbox and I'm fully rooted with latest Busybox and Terminal.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Made it...
After searching a ot in other forums, found the process, first you need to stop the CMClient process, then copy the DMClient to the folder, restart the transformer and that's it. I have my system fully functional again.

[Q] Re-installation System application

Hello,
I uninstalled (inadvertently) the system application DMClient on my ASUS Transformer.
I would like to re-install. How to.
I have a backup of this System Application (com.asus.dm.apk) but it doesn't want to install.
What is the solution ?
Thank you for your responses
(Sorry for my english but i'm french)
adb push it to system/app
Thank's for the reply, but i'm newbie. Can you be a little more... explicit, please.
This thread will show hoe to set up ADB
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071584
Once done put the file (com.asus.dm.apk) in the platform-tools folder
and run command
Code:
adb push <application_name>.apk /system/app
you could also try manually moving the file with Root explorer or any file management with root access to system/app to see if that work
The file com.asus.dm.apk is already on system/app but the application DMClient doesn't appear ine the Application list
Try this, not sure if it will work or not.
Navigate to where you have the app (system/app in this case)
long press on it to bring up the menu
choose "permission" and set to rw,r,r if not already set to that
now tap on it again to install the app
also when you say it's not showing up in Application list.
Are you refering to the app drawer? Cause it will not show up there.
You can find it in Settings>Applications>Manage application>All (if it's installed correctly)
I'm rooted. I have uninstalled it with UltimateBackup.
DMClient is (was) a ROM application.
I have tried to restaure it with Titanium Backup, then with Ultimate Backup without success (the restore process begin but never end).
I'm very dispointed because without this application, i can't access to OTA Firmware updates.
if anybody have an idea !!!
Thank
Well if you have CWM you could flash the latest OTA update from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409584
Flashing with a new firmware seems to be an heavy solution for only one file missing.
In system/app, i have DMClient.ODEX and com.asus.dm.apk instead of having DMClient.ODEX and DMClient.apk

[Q] How i get CWM on my Tab?

Yeah, update to the latest firmware. It should work after that.
Try OTA Root Keeper (it might save your root so you don't have to root again).
IF not just update, run ViperMod again and install RecoveryInstaller
I can not flash the update. I put the Update on the SD, the system dedects also the update but after the restart the update breaks and the system restart again.
I desperate slowly
Did you extract the file you download to get to the zip file inside? You also have to rename that extracted file. I cant recall exactly what it need to be rename to but I'll check soon as i get near a PC

"EP101_SDUPDATE.zip" i think this is what you have to rename the file
edit: Tips from Baseballfanz For those not able to get it working, a few things to check.
1-Make sure you actually extract the WW_epad-user-8.6.x.x.zip within the zip. Inside the file you download is an Asus folder, inside that is an Update folder, inside that is the WW_epad-user-8.6.x.x.zip file you'll be working with.
2-When renaming, if your PC is set to "hide known extension", you'll not see the .zip so if you type in .zip you'll get filename.zip.zip The file manager on the TF should show you the extension
3-Make sure it's on the root of the sd card and not within any folder.
4-Check spelling of files WW_epad-user-8.6.x.x.zip EP101_SDUPATED.zip
5-Micro sd card is in FAT32 format. Try a different card or format again (after saving your stuffs)
6-File manager on the TF sdcard is internal and Removable/MicroSD is the external sd card.
THESE ARE TIPS FROM BASEBALLFANZ POST SOMEWHERE ELSE ONLY I X'ED OUT THE FIRMWARE NUMBER TO DENOTE THE NEWEST FIRMWARE.... HOPE YOU DNT MIND
Thank you very mutch for your help. I have the last update installed 8.6.6.23 but i can this not rooted. ViperMod no longer works.

i have deleted xbin folder in system/xbin path

Please Help I have deleted xbin folder in system/xbin in my samsung gts5303 and now i want to again root my samsung gts5303 but it is not rooting now.Firstly i have rooted it with Root Master android app but now when i m trying to reroot it with Root Master app it shows Sucessfully Rooted and also installs supersu app but not installs binary becouse binary is installed in system/xbin folder and i have deleted it.
and an unknown folder sbin is added in /sbin. and it is empty i have no root acess but when i m deleting it it is sucessfully deleted but when i comeback to / path it is added again
Now i m requesting you to please solve this problem and give me any app by which i can add xbin folder again in system/ with out root.and with out pc because i have not any pc...
thanks in advnce...
I hope you have a nandroid back up, otherwise it is going to be really hard to do with out a PC handy.
You will not be able to add File or folder in system even 3rd party app will not be able to write on system folder without root permission so try to full unroot the phone then again try to root so there is a chance of reinstalling binary again anyway don't you have nandroid backup?
how can i do nandroid backup

[Completed] [Q] Unable to delete a file in /data/data with root permissions

I own a Moto G which is in 5.0.2 with KK bootloader(Blisspop ROM). An app created a folder in /data/data which sustains in the memory even after uninstallation of the app. I couldn't remove the folder in any way. I tried with Root browser, with terminal. Root browser says 'Deleted successfully.' while trying to remove the folder, but it remains. When I tried to remove it from terminal, it says 'rm: 00160eb4bb6a2325_0: No such file or directory', but it gets listed while using 'ls'. This fails the nandroid backup with TWRP. Is there something I can do? Thanks in advance!
Note: 'ls' lists the file, but 'ls -l' fails showing an error.
Edit: I even tried wiping entire partition. Still the creep remains.

I tried that too. It failed with error 1.
Hi, thank you fur using XDA Assist. Try deleting the folder in twrp's file manager. It may be that you'll have to flash the factory image and start all over to permanently get rid of it.

I did it earlier, have to be rooted to see the file that's downloaded. If you're using a root explorer search for "dlpkgfile" that's the name of the newest OTA at least, I made a copy on my SD card so I could keep putting it in the right dir and avoid downloading it all over again. Since I tried all my options i'm back to unrooted, still can't upgrade from g to o.
I don't remember the exact directory, somewhere in /etc/ if I recall.

I'm having the same issue with upgrading 10G. maybe there is a way in the ota Package
EDIT:
I found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699123 to force an update using the dlpkgfile from ota. I wonder if it could work for G4 also??
@TheJokah @ajent. Don't need to be rooted. Root Browser will be able to view the directory without root permissions. (I use it all the time to browse system partitions and files on unrooted devices). You can do a lot with Root Browser without root. You just can't make changes.
When the fota is available you will find it in /cache/fota
I have captured several OTAs for various devices this way...
EDIT: Make sure to copy the file after it downloads and before restart, otherwise the file will be deleted before you get it.
That is good info, thanks.
I'm pretty convinced flashfire installing the xposed zip does something that isn't reverted when flashing the unrooted system image. I used my limited knowledge to look at that xposed zip and it seems like only modifications are made to /system so it should be removed when flashing back unrooted image. I really don't know, but hope somebody can figure it out lol.
