Well, I got my One X today, and the seal on the box was already broken and the phone was face down!
Did anyone else experience that?
Somebody had to put your sim card in. Didn't you notice the sim cutout in the box with it?

odd, they have always come with the simcard just in the box before. Also the big grey sticker on the back is stupid.

Boxes are always open to insert sim into the phone itself.
Also, you can peel the sticker and put it away. It's mainly for inventory usage and ID.

A lot of the phones in our inventory have no seals at all. I wouldn't worry about it.
Box was open and the phone was already on. I'm gonna do a factory reset just to make sure
This is why i always pick up my phone at the store
Then i can watch them open it and all the other assorted goodness that goes along with unboxing. My only complaint, no beats brand headphones.

Those headphones are bad anyway. Anything by Beats you should avoid like the plague.
I'll be removing "beats" from this phone the second I can.
Got mine! And yes, it was on.

Mine was powered on too. Also, the back bottom left side, right by the Mic, had a small smudge. I took it back to AT&T and made them switch it out. It was like pulling teeth.

Lucky. I just went to 2 stores (have a dead pixel) and neither would let me exchange until Sunday. Total BS, because we all know they got them in the back. :/
Oh yeah, mine was opened as well, ordered no commitment, so there was no sim installed. Also had scuff marks on back, but was able to rub them off.
A manager could have swapped it out and changed the inventory the next day.
You can do almost anything in an AT&T if you're convincing enough w/ a manager.
And there's nothing wrong for exchanging them. You're buying a brand new phone, it should be in absolutely perfect condition. Every run of phones will have small numbers of units with imperfections. It's always worth exchanging them.
For anyone who buys it on the 6th, look it over closely. Before you even walk out of the door. Stand right in front of that rep and look it over closely with the screen on.
Extremely disappointed in the packaging. For one thing, I can put in my own card. But the outer box was almost double the size of the phone box (with no packing paper or bubble wrap to secure it)...which means it was bouncing around from Texas to Chicago. Works ok, but I hope it didn't loosen anything up.
Mine was open too. I was pretty disappointed about that.

I didnt notice mine open, but the phone was not on and when I powered it on the battery was at 96%.
i really cant remember lol but i had to set it up, guess it was on, no worries
Phone seal was broken. SIM in. Phone came turned off and showed 1/2 battery
Mine was sealed but I purchased it off contract.
I purchased the phone as a family line upgrade, and I had to go from a SIM to microSIM. Yet, my box was sealed (but the uSIM was inside the phone). I guess someone put it in, and then applied the seal to the box
EDIT: The phone was switched off.
i ordered mine today for white 149.99! I hope it comes sealed, otherwise i'm storming into the att store for exchange ^_^

Well, guess what? My MT4G is about five hours old and there is already a spec of dust under the screen. On the phone with T-Mobile right now to do a swap. Why can't HTC figure out this dust issue? How hard is it to glue a phone together?
Update: T-Mobile had no problem swapping it for a brand new device because it was so new. Even after that dust under the screen is covered under the one year warranty.
I would just return it, I doubt that many have this problem.

A new one is on the way. I'm hoping this is not like my Nexus. Either way, that's what warranties are for.

Are we talking about extended warranty here? If so, sorry to burst your bubble, but the regular one year manufacturer's warranty will cover this also -- without having to shell out that extra $6 a month
I had grey specks under my screen and I made her the exchange the phone.. the sales girl (a teen ager!) said she didnt see anything, but when I showed it to her in the sun she said "I would never notice that" (like I as being anal! LOL!)
It was the WHITE version...
I've seen other reports of this too. Best to inspect well upon receipt or in store before leaving.
Mine appears to have an issue with the FFC - it looks to be off center to the right. Works fine, but a QC issue for a phone the caliber of this and not impressive for HTC.

I had a single spec of dust under the screen, upper left corner. the girl in the store saw it as soon as I showed a white screen. exchanged it for a new one right in the store, no questions asked.
manufacturing defect? I guess. hope the screen doesn't have some gap that allows in lint because I carry the thing in my pocket all the time.
yep...got a mytouch 4g/hd today aswell. didnt get a chance to play with it until now, about 6 hours later. Smack dab in the middle was what i thought was a dead pixel. upon further inspection its a particle of dust or whatever. super super annoying. i have to exchange the phone and hope this one doesnt have this problem.
any way of removing this foreign particle w/o voiding anything?

Mine is the same, but it doesn't bother me.
I got my mt4g yesterday. First thing I did was look for dust under the screen. Had another mt4g on the way within an hour of getting my first one. The bad part is I got my phone direct from Tmobile so I have to wait for it to arrive. On the brightside they did free express this time.
Anyone got any images showing this? I dont see anything on mine but its only a few hours old and I got it late at night and I'm so tired I'm not even inspecting it that much at the moment. Will go over it tomorrow.
i use to work on LCDs. Basically the clean room wasn't that clean when they were putting on the polarized layer. There is not anything practical you can do to fix it.
Anyone know who the OEM for the LCDs are?

I never buy the extended warranty but I do get insurance. Considering how many times I've used it, it's been worth it.

No this is a QC issue. There are gaps between the metal bezel that surrounds the glass and the rubbery material that covers up the sides of the phone. The dust/lint that got under my screen was definitely from the device being in my pocket.
I solved this by getting a nice case from T-Mo ($35 but it's sexy) to cover the exposed area. Haven't had a problem since.
I was going to get a mytouch 4g to play with until the nexus s came out. I played with one at t-mobile store and nothing really impressed me. After reading the mytouch 4g thread it sounds like HTC is still making crappy phones. Sounds like the same N1 issues all over again. We used hairdryer to heat up the glass then press the screen back down. I had to do this will all three of my N1's.

Crappy phone? It's one of the best Android phones out right now. There are a FEW people having issues. Happens with every cell. Guess the MT4G isn't for you. I'm loving it!
I also have found a spec of dust it doesn't bother me but I'm worried that it'll get worse over time

I have the tiniest, most annoying lint particle underneath my screen. As of now it is located far left. Seems as if it could make its way to smack dab in the center of my screen though. Kinda sucks but its so tiny you only notice it in full contrast to a white background if you really focus.
a single grey speck of dust in the top right corner, near the clock. Thought it was a dead pixel, but its there even when the phone is off. can only see it if I look really hard into that spot
Hi, Guys I have had this phone for a few days and I am loving it so far.
Today I noticed something very weird and I am a little concerned.
I was taking off my original HTC case and I saw that the bottom of the phone and the screen there was a big gap. I was shocked at first because I had never seen it before and I saw big led's on the bottom.
It Looks normal now but I can literally recreate it back if I push the bottom and the screen will separate from one another creating a big gap where I can actually see the led's. I mean once I push it back I have to recreate it for it to happen but other than that it looks normal and there is no light leakage once the push the bottom back on.
Here are the two pictures.
One where the bottom comes off if I push it a little and it could easily happen when I take off the case showing the gree led,
and the second one where I pushed the bottom back up and it looks normal.
https://www.box.com/s/05c56f37bdab763006a7
Yeah.. it probably shouldn't do that Might as well see about getting it replaced before your warranty is up.
Yea I sent amazon an email already, it is cool otherwise, If I don't push too hard or take the case off too hard it wont happen but it literally separates if I push little too hard. Otherwise normal usage it is fine and like now there is no light leakage or anything no one would be able to tell that happens unless they put pressure on the bottom edge.
Yep just took mine back for that same issue. I could pop the bottom of the LCD out from the housing and snap it back in. They exchanged it. Oddly enough my replacement I can still see a very slight gap but the screen doesn't move like it did on my other one. I'm worried about moisture getting in there. Might have to return this one as well
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Yea I am.just glad that it only happens when pushed. I already sent amazon an email and they are pretty good about advance replacement. I mean I would have never noticed it if I didn't push the case too hard to take it off from the bottom. Like now it is perfect lol.

i do believe this is how the access the innards of the phone. To reach the battery etc the screen pops off. It appears that yours was not properly fitted.
My AT&T One X started separating on the bottom left corner this weekend. I am going to call my local corp. store this morning and see if they have any in stock so I can go get a replacement.
..Gromet
Both my wife's and my phone do this as well. Noticed it a week ago, when taking off case.
It would be nice to know if this a defect or just the way most phones are. I mean it's perfect unless you push down hard to take off the case from the bottom.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
When I had a Vivid, it did the same thing near the volume rocker. The border of the phone began separating from the screen. I just pushed in on it and it snapped back into place, but it's still a bit concerning.
I pop the case off of my One X every week to clean out debris, and I haven't noticed it separating yet. (official HTC case)

I posted this last weekend about my phone doing the exact same thing, though I still havent gotten around to posting pictures. I am just going to refer to yours since they show the same thing. My is doing this on the sides rather than the top or bottom, but it is slowly spreading.
Annoyed because AT&T still doesnt have stock...
I was reading some of the international One X forums - it sounds like about 1 out of 4 have similar build issues on the intl' version. I was hoping they would have their ish together before the US release...
I ordered mine from amazon and they have already shipped me a replacement. I will update on how it goes. Hopefully not the same issue.

Lucky! I called around and no stores in the area have them in stock.
Hmm...
The gap might be there due to constant handling/movement or swapping covers/cases. I mean, look at this youtube video regarding how the HTC One X can be taken apart for repairs. Notice how the phone is worked from that bottom edge, exposing the screen, before it snaps open. I don't currently have a HOX or else I'd test it first hand, but could this be a cause of the gap? or maybe it just a factory defect in some instances?
It could be. If my second one does that than I think it might be that way to open it up. Mine is fine right and looks new. But can snap it open with ease. If someone had given it to me like this I probably would not have known.

In that video it looks like the part she separates is the metal frame/bezel+screen from the polycarb shell. Our issue is the screen itself is coming unglued from the metal frame/bezel. It appears to be a quality control issue in a small percentage of them.
That video is very similar to how mine would come off. I would have to push really hard to open up like that but small bump does make it obvious how u would take it apart.

I had a gap in the bottom right corner where i could see some shiny material . The screen at that end was also slightly raised.
Asked amazon about it and they sent me a new one.
This one too is not perfect as there is still a slight gap between the body and the screen, again at the bottom right. But i guess i am going to keep this one.
waiting for my case.
OFFTOPIC : Why hasnt OP changed his launcher as yet! I feel the sense launcher looks less refined and spoils the beauty of the One X screen
Got the replacement phone, it doesn't do that. But damn this phone is all pink instead of white on the screen. I can clearly see the whites are not white on this phone. I am thinking about just keeping the original phone since it is always like new unless i force the housing to open. It never just happens, I have to make it happen, but other than that phone is like new and the screen is way more beautiful than the replacement phone. I think the one I got is using a different screen than the original.

Ahhh, what i find amusing here is this. I had to exchange my one X yesterday, luckily the store i frequent most likes me as they held it for me instead of sending it back when i called last week. Anyways, the salesman processing the exchange is the only person i deal with when i go in there so we joke around and he started the exchange and said you really couldnt just leave that sticker on there could you? So, i told him that there was an extra one in the box so that it could be removed and he nor any of the other staff members there even knew the extra sticker existed.
Anyways, yes, remove that unsightly sticker as it wont hurt anything.
Gone the moment I got the phone in my hands.

removed mine before leaving the store. it's in a few places on the phone, including HBoot (pwr+vol down on startup).
I'm glad it's a sticker and not etched into the phone like apple does with all those informative trademark signs. Yeah, we have those to but they are barely visible on the bottom of the phone.
I took it off before I opened the box hahaha in my mind

Yea.. I knew all the info was in the phone. But wasn't sure if it'll leave an ugly mark. Its off now looks way cleaner.

The same info also displayed in Hboot, with the bar codes and everything.
The stick left a faint mark or residue. But wiping with a little glass cleaner took that right off.
I just got it from Amazon. The first thing I thought when I got it was "wow, it's not even wrapped in plastic. someone can just open it without leaving any mark." I turned the box upside down to see what's underneath it, and there were two broken seals. They read "DO NOT ACCEPT IF SEAL IS BROKEN."
I opened the box and checked everything (without turning it on), but I was not able to find any flaw. I even saw an unboxing video on YouTube to compare, and everything seemed exactly the same.
So I have a choice to make: keep it or return it.
If I return it, I have to either wait until Monday to get it shipped or go to a store tomorrow. If I go to store, I end up spending more than $50 additionally due to tax.
If I keep it, well, I have it now.
Well I obviously wanted it as soon as possible, purchasing it on the day it became available. So I don't know what to do. Do you guys think it will be fine to just use it? I guess I can still return it any time (is it for a month for Amazon?) if it turns out to have any flaw, and because I really want to keep it, I feel like keeping it.
What do you guys think?
Well amazon do tend to break the seal to make sure everything is in there, happened to me a few times but as long as it works I don't bother with it. Zedomax had made some unboxing videos and his device also had seal broken but worked fine so if it works then I think you should be alright

VERY ODD indeed! Mine also purchased from Worst Buy had one of its two seals broken but everything was as new.
Why do you think this is?
Jumping in with a 'one of mine was broken from Amazon' as well. That's less of a problem for me than their new shipping company just leaving my tablet outside the door to my apartment. Apparently 'signing' is too much trouble for them. Never thought I'd miss UPS
My G'Note 10.1 came wrapped in the plastic. You can see in this video when I opened the tablet, but then again maybe because it's the 3G version.

Could have been a demo....
I wouldn't worry too much about it. That happens sometimes on Amazon. I think they are checking to make sure the proper item is in the box.
As long as the tablet has all of its original protective plastic on it and functions properly it is likely unused.

Hey guys. I'm glad to be a member in the forum.
I just received my first tablet/android device; the grey 32 GB Note 10.1 from Amazon. It came in a plain cardboard box with no Amazon markings except for the text on the return label reading: "Amazon Fulfillment Services, 172 Trade St. Lexington, KY 40511" No packing slip and no padding/popcorn. The actual product box (slightly scuffed) had both product seals broken and says "16GB" on the lid's top in the lower left corner but the a white sticker on the side of the lid says 32GB.
Does any of the above sound strange? I think I'm going to return it unless you guys suggest otherwise.
I just got my Nexus 5 from Google yesterday. There is one thing odd about it. Here is a picture of the back:
The IMEI sticker looks all worn around the edges. I feel I can safely assume that is not right. It should be a solid black sticker. Did your phones come with a partially worn IMEI sticker? Makes me feel this phone is not brand new but a referb.
Please let me know what your sticker looked like.
Mine is mostly black, there is a small section of white, not sure if I wore it off (doubtful as it's in a case 99% of the time) or came that way. I doubt the sticker being white is from use, remember these are fairly new phones (Nov 2013), so if the sticker was that worn from use, you'd most likely see other evidence of heavy use on the phone.
I would discuss the issue with Google, they can provide a mfg date or will exchange it if you feel uncomfortable about the sticker.
the sticker from the back of my N5 had no black whatsoever. White sticker with black lettering and barcode. I don't know what the manufacture date of mine is, so couldn't tell you if I have a late or early model other than I just got it 3 weeks ago from T-Mobile.

Ha, yeah. I have a Tech21 bumper case and you could see the sticker through the back so I peeled it and stuck it on the box the N5 came in. Kinda stupid to have a sticker there.
well today in class i also had an issue with the vibrate being unreasonably weak. tot he point where i couldn't feel it in my pocket but also could not hear it while on a table in front of me, both in class and at a restaurant. never had that. then half the time it was nice and loud. i googled it and that is a known issue amongst some nexus 5's. when i mentioned that to the Google customer service rep, he immediately said RMA. so getting a new phone sent out.

Nice. BTW, I would remove the picture in the OP. It has your IMEI number in full.
