Im having problems with my phone battery drain and shutdown. I tried 3 different roms and they all had the same problem. Im assuming it's not the rom. Tried insertcoin sense4, coindroid, and now leedroid sense 3.6. Please help me, i had my phone plugged off for 1hr and it already drained half of my battery. It seems like the phone shuts down because of low battery even though it still has because it dsnt shut down when plugged. When i turn on the phone, it will shut down again unless i turned it on plugged. Please help me... Maybe its the firmware. I rly dnt know. All i know is flash stuffs

Sense ROMS Drain up A LOT of battery :l Perhaps try reflashing a ROM, I would suggest Virtuous Inquisition, and CALIBRATE the battery ( Let it charge overnight ), If your battery still seems to be draining to half a bar per hour after a full charge, try changing your battery~

Okay I'll try that. I'll also check if it has something to do with overclocking

Definitely, overclocking takes up more battery and can damage your processor .
Actually overclocking to 1.7ghz gve me much batter battery using miui but sense roms USUALLY take up a lot of battery but they are pretty much there now eg arhd or coindroid, when you flash a rom drain the battery to <10% and then charger it up fully and you should notice brttery battery.
As for your shutdowns, unless you are overclocking to above 1.8ghz your phone shouldn't shutdown, your battery has most probably just worn out, either order a new extended one or try taking it out for the night and then put it back in, should work then.

Same thing happens to my phone from time to time. In my case it helps if I remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for 15 seconds, then put the battery and cover on and do a full charge without turning the phone on.
You could also check to see if the battery is firmly seated in its bay and if not, wedge something in the gap to keep it firm against the contacts. There is a quite popular thread about it somewhere on this forum.
Try this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610232

my lg g2x drains my battery when turned off
the most previous experience was last night when i had my battery at 39 percent when i turned it off the next morning when i turned it on it was at 19%...
At first i thought it was the faux's DebouchedSloth (the one with the funky readings) so i paid no mind to it. (i just left it on during the night in airplane mode, which actually gave me better battery life) Later, i flashed the trinity kernel, only to find out the same thing happens
what do i do?

try a "battery calibration"
let it drain out completely and then let it charge 1 to 2 hours extra after it has reached 100%. worth a shot but i doubt it will help
or try wiping battery status in recovery
also, set up setCPU with profiles
Hmm.. I wonder how the battery drains even though it is off? o_o
Did you try turning it off, than remove the battery and put it back in? And see if it drains.
For me, my battery drains 0% overnight on airplane mode.

I just want to make sure when you say you turned your phone off you mean you shut it down right? I'm just trying to get a answer out of the way because I have seen so many post go a long way only to find out the original post misinterpreted a phrase. If it was in sleep mode a 20% battery drain isn't terrible. I've seen better and worse. If it's draining while it's shut off then I ask are you using the stock battery? It seems to be a big issue and I could easily see it leaking energy while off or giving misread.

there was an article on the xda homepage posted not that long ago. it was about how battery calabration doesnt effect battery life, but only the battery graph found under settings. basicaly it said that the batterystats.bin file only has to do with that battery graph, it tells the phone whats been eating the battery. here it the link if you want to read the article:

i dont know... and i used to leave it on overnight in airplane mode too with faux's kernel, it drained alot less leaving it on over night then turning it off. but the thing is, leaving you phone on for too long makes it sluggish, so i want to turn it off once in a while to help make it more snappy. I wanted to try that with trinity kernel, but ya thats not really working lool

I would suggest trying a new battery first. I purchased a couple of 3rd party batteries for $20. If it still drains while the phone is OFF, you have some sort of internal hardware problem.

sometimes it's the ROM, i've tried EaglesBlood, PheonixBlood and i get above then norm battery life. I'm on Xboard's OTA and my battery life is sweet
i'm having the same issue as well even when using 2 different batteries and an external charger (for the battery itself).
'normal' drain on the eaglesblood AOSP is about 20% an hour and when I turn off the phone, remove the battery, put it back in, and turn it back on after an hour, the battery drains till it's almost empty!
maxesxp, did the new batteries work? or was it some combination of rom + kernel that did the trick for you?
Weird I just thoughts about looking for this cause I had this happen for the first time. I was at 40% had no charger around so turned the phone off, turned it on the next morning and was at 2% effing weird!

My phone does this too. Some days it will drain only a percent or two and others it will drain like 20-30%. From what I can tell the kernel or something is not turning everything off on the phone. Try turning your phone off the next time you do and remove the battery and then when you go to turn it on put the battery back in and see if it drained then. If it did then it is a problem with the battery and if not it is a problem with the phone. If it is the phone there is not much you can do about that, sorry.
I have a known issue.. but with a twist
When.my battery is showing that there is like 90% left. After a while and I reboot, there is only 4% left. That's a.known issue. But here is twist. If I reboot again, its back to 80% orso. And when I do.another reboot there is 75% remaining..
Another reboot shows 74% and so on
I'm sorry if this a known issue.. i don't have much time to search things while I'm working 45h a week.
Anyone knows a.solution for this?
I wiped battery stats. Discharged a few times and the.HTC trick.. non of these work

i dont think you can do anything about it. people say that turning off the device instead of restarting helps. i also have battery jumps but not nearly as extreme as yours. maybe ~5-10% jump. if its a drop jump then it will stay there until the real percentage reaches that said level, if its higher then it will drop quickly to the real percentage. from my experience that is, not a big deal

but a drop of 70% is a bit odd.

Use your phone for a while without changing roms or clearing stats, don't charge until your battery is totally dead then don't take of charge until it is totally full, once full turn off and charge till light green, then back on and charge till green then repeat till you feel confident that your battery us full, then go through full discharge and repeat it will settle down but patience us required, remember stay with 1 rom radio and kernel without clearing anything for at least 4 days

Hello,
My htc sensation randomly turns off.
The first press of the power button causes the screen to light up a bit then turn off. Then I have to press and hold the power button to turn it on.
This started happening recently. It happens randomly.
At first I thought it had something to do with my current ROM, so I changed it, but it still keeps happening.
Any advice?
Thanks

More information needed, What rom are you using now, what kernel are you using now - sounds to me like a kernel problem
This happens to me too. It started when I upgraded from GB to ICS (Stock Sense 3.5 ROM to Virtuous Quattro). It is really annoying because it happens often if I want to accept a call.
What I did was to completely wipe my phone with 4ext, formated SD Card and formated the phone filesystem to ext4 in 4ext recovery. Then it did not happen for 5 days. Now it starts again. I hope its not a hardwaremalfunction or issue.
ROMs I tried but it still happened:
- Virtuous Quattro
- Virtuous Inquisition
- OpenSensation
- MIUI AOSP from blackwing
- OrDroid 8.1
Maybe I should try the new firmware 3.33 or reflash 3.32 or flash 3.32R2
The strange thing is you cant really recreate it. It happens too unregular.
reflashing firmware sometimes solves the issue
either you can reflash your firmware or ..try an updated firmware
I just flashed 3.33 Universal in. Lets see what it will change
I have a similar problem but not sure what it is. My sensation will charge to a full 100% and once it lowers under 70% it will shut off. When I turn it back on the battery will be some outrageous percentage like 5% or 14%. It immediately dies after every turn on never actually reaches 1%. I've fully wiped flashed several roms so its not software I think. Maybe I need a new battery? Any opinions ?

Perhaps worth a try:
Insert a little piece of paper between the top of the battery and the phone. This will push the battery against the pins and has been known to solve all kinds of silly battery problems.
i read it on a thread here in xda and its worked for me...my phone used to switch off randomly while in my pocket..its a battery issue..remove the back cover and push the battery down..you will notice that there is room for it to go further down..just wedge a piece of visiting card in the gap and see if it works for you..it has for me..

Hello, XDA-Community.
I bought my HTC Sensation XE 3 month ago.
First i must say, the Beats-headset has a very good sound, but it's bad quality.
2 weeks ago, the right headphone stopped working. I gave it back to Media Markt and they sent it back to HTC, i must wait for it-.-
but now the real problem:
i always have got a bad battery life! (lock at the attetchments)
i tried nearly all roms(really a lot), all kernels, i tried to underclock or undervolt an different govenors. i even bought an anker extended battery but it all didnt't changed anything.
after that, i tried to downgrade form fw 3.33 to 3.32 and to downgrade the hboot, but nothing.
does anyone of you have this problem too or can anybody help me?!
its so bad, i even cant get 10 hours with it..
2h and 33 min screen on time an still 9 percent of battery.
Based on your screen on time, that battery life isn't insanely bad. It's not good, but it's not utterly terrible.
Have you tried the simple stuff like lower brightness? Turning BT and GPS off when not in use? Keeping Mobile data turned off? Lower the screen time out to 15 or 30 seconds?
Those things will do wonders for battery life.
Also make sure you're not overclocking with a performance governor on your kernel. That'll burn battery like crazy. Use a more battery friendly governor with your kernels like Badass or even Conservative. And don't clock it up to 1.7 or anything nutty.

i never use bt or gps. only thing is mobile data.
screen is nearly always on lowest and if not, its auto.
time out is at 45 sec.
if i use bricked kernel, my battery life is better, but every hour my phone reboots less one time.
now i am on faux kernel, underclocked to 1.1 ghz and undervolted to -75. the govenor is intellidemand.
You could try to use a non-sense-based rom like cyanogenmod, for me there was a huge improvement.
Regarding your Problems with random reboots on bricked kernel, just set the minfreq to 384Mhz and it should be alright

both problems(battery and reboot) are still there after trying this...
How much gaming are you doing? Regardless of how much screen on time you have, games can drain the battery like crazy. What's your usage pattern like? Lots of web surfing over mobile internet? Watch a lot of movies? Games? 2.5 hours of screen on time isn't too bad, but it's not great either.
If all else fails, wipe all except SD card, install ROM, restore apps without data unless that data is extremely important to you. Also make sure your radio and RIL match with something like GetRIL. Match your firmware to your ROM base too (ie. 3.33 firmware for 3.33.xxx.xxx ROM).
Have you tried to put the phone in airplane mode during the night time. Or reset your battery stats?
2.5 hrs of screen on time isn't bad when you also had an additional 6.5 hrs of standby. But the biggest thing you can change to save battery is background data and auto sync. Turn those off and expect big difference. Also don't use auto brightness unless you have to. If your inside then turn it all the way down .

Hi there, I had absolutely awful battery life on my stock battery! I understand completely what your going through. I did however find a solution . First let me say I've tried just about everything, turning down brightness , turning off sync, switching kernels, turning off gmail, yet still the battery life was awful! So finally I purchased a extended life battery, I choose Anker because the price was low. It did help but I still was not where I wanted to be. Then I decided to purchase a mugen 3500mah battery. It's expensive but worth every penny! Now with heavy use I'm on 100% for two hours. I can use my device heavily for 19, hours and still have 42% battery left ! It's amazing! I wish I got it sooner! It does come with a replacement back cover to fit the battery but my 4g signal is still strong, WiFi works perfectly , navigation works perfectly so no worries about the case interfering with signals. It does make the phone thicker but it still fits in pocket, and feels good in your hand . It does look thicker but who cares with this kind of battery life! Finally I don't have to worry about my battery! If your tired of worrying about battery life then get the mugen 3500mah battery. Buy it directly from mugen because there are too many counterfeit batteries going around on other sites. The downside is it costs 100 dollars but honestly its worth every penny. If your serious about getting a great battery then this is the one. I don't regret getting mine for a second! It makes all the difference in the world! I had to save up to get it but it was worth it. This battery will solve your issues! It solved mine ! Best wishes and hope this helps you.

I'd recommend that you don't delete the battery stats. The phone should learn over time and every time you delete them it has to start from scratch again.
but how to calibrate the new battery?
still having so bad battery life, after disabling auto-sync.
You calibrate battery by draining almost down to about 10% then recharge to 100% repeat this process about 4 times and battery will be calibrated. I read your not supposed to drain to zero although some people do during calibration. That's up to you. I read draining to zero can sometimes put the battery into a deep sleep and its very difficult when that happens to get it awake again. So I only go down to 10%. Hope this helps and answers your question.

As I understand it the phone/ROM won't allow the battery to be discharged fully to the state that it'd cause a total battery failure. Get CurrentWidget from the Play Store.
I can't remember the Full/Discharge voltages (~4.2V to ~3.5V) but not certain.
Just let the phone charge fully and discharge normally (let it get to a total turn off) a few times and you'll be fine. Please stop wiping the battery stats it just confuses things.

This is an HTC problem. I have no clue why, but for some reasons the stats on their phones never report properly after having a custom ROM. I used to have an HTC Desire, then a GSII, now a Sensation. I noticed the stats were always off with my Desire, they were fine with my GSII, fine with a stock One X then with my Sensation I get the some terribly reported battery stats again. It is just something I have gotten used to.
Someone with more technical knowledge can explain better why it does that. But with the Desire it was a known issue which no one knew how to fix. Or the resources to fix it are just missing.
fix for battery stats and reboots
hey guys i had the same prob. was running viper 1.4.1 phone was rebooting and was geting crazy battery stats. i was reading a post about the the grounding pins on the back of the phone they touch the battery cover. pull those pins out ever so just for good contact with the cover but be gentle. i have done this and had no probs so far hope this helps let me know how u get on.
Have you checked to see if your getting a wake lock? You can download better battery stats and it will detect any wake lock you might be having and identify the offending app So you can stop the wake lock. Give it a try I think it might help. You can download better battery stats from here on xda, and read about bad and good wake locks. It's very informative. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes.
