I am watching this with great interest.

Yes, you are right for the Link, sorry for the broken link.
I have just ordered on Willgoo.
I'll come back to tell you my opinion on it.

Here is hoping for a quick root for this device. I am in the market.

Thank you, looking forward to that. Enjoy the unboxing

I've ordered one that should arrive this week.
I also hope it will be quickly rootable.
I already have a JXD S601 which looks like this S5110 but with a 4,3' 480x272 resistive screen.
I really like it and use it a lot....
This S5110 seems to fix the only weak point of the S601 which was for me the LCD.
We'll see....

for those want to buy this console, here is a willgoo Discount code (coupon)

I've just ordered mine. Curious how this CPU compares to the yinlips equivalent.
I should have looked into the CPU before purchasing, I really hope it has NEON extensions.
First thing I'll probably test is if I can set up Ubuntu in chroot.
Then maybe getting Linux to boot natively.
Does anyone know if the analog stick is mapped to the dpad as a digital control or if it's properly implemented as an analog input.

I still haven't received my console but the first feedbacks are disapointing.
The screen is a resistive one and the CPU runs at 600Mhz.
JXD just lies on the spec.

Ouch! That is not good news. Can you cancel the order or is it too late.
Maybe put the seller under notice that the item has been misrepresented and you will require a full refund?

Mine left Hong Kong today(picked up in Shenzhen late yesterday afternoon(all local times -- 12h ahead of my tz)) so IF I'm REALLY lucky I MIGHT get it tomorrow dependent upon where they stage to in the US, might even be the local airport, but probably not I'd guess...
Yeah, the resistive touch screen is a bummer, but I'm going to keep mine, unless it's defective at which point I may as well just return pay extra and switch to the Yinlips YDPG18A for a little more.
IF you really wanted to, you probably could ask the seller about returning -> just don't accept the package IF you had it shipped by a private parcel service, e.g. DHL...
This has an SoC(bit better one actually) as the JXD S601 which also initially shipped clocked to 600MHz but now I think that most people can run it OK @ 800MHz(I think that even one of the official fws did this plus some customized kernels even up to 1GHz). i.e. it should be eventually possible to at least hack the kernel binary to run at higher speeds although the SoC(-a9 but gimpaed a bit of cache ram) is fabbed on a 65nm process so it might be kind of iffy wrt heat and power...
(G18A has a -a8 based SoC made on a 40nm process and actually supposedly a bit better, BOXCHIP A10D).)

My s5110 should get delivered today as it made it to local dhl delivery office about an hour ago...
I'll post once I've had a chance to play with it a bit, or better yet just wander on over to the dingoonity thread as several people there already have them and the earliest I'd expect to be able to realistically/helpfully comment would be tomorrow.

OK, mine came today. (Ordered from willgoo late friday afternoon my time, early saturday morning their time, picked up by DHL late wednesday afternoon(their time), and arrived at my house mid-afternoon Friday... pretty quick all around. I don't think that the "free" shipping is worth it for such small/light items unles they're REALLY cheap items as well...) ...but of course the drawback to this story are the 2 8GB uSD cards that I ordered from newegg still have yet to arrive(I went for the free shipping as anything else would've been a significant part of the uSD cost...)
Touch screen is VERY responsive for resistive, but not as good as any capacitive screened device that I've owned.
WiFi is GODAWFUL. (range/signal strengthwise. worst device that I've owned wrt this.)
Came with a DVD full of various pirated wares, some from my brief perusal Android apps(maybe legit free versions), and some GBA/etc. pirated roms.
US Customs opened up my DHL outer sleeve, and the box that my seller placed the JXD box in... can't tell if they nosed around further as the JXD box lacked cellohane/shrinkwrap and/or tap closing it so if they did they SURPRISINGLY repacked it neatly

Update to my s5110 experience:

I received mine on friday.
Screen is described now as being "between" resistive and capacitive and is certainly MUCH more responsive to nails/fingers than ANY resistive screen that I've had access to in a while, but not as sensitive as capacitive. (It is 3pt.)
WiFi is godawful. Worst by FAR signal strength in a device that I've ever seen, cannot reliably pickup my router in the backyard where ALL of my other devices have no problem. Signal strength(via status icon) seems to get pulled VERY low while connecting/obtaining IP even in the same room as the router.
Screen is ok, but viewing angles aren't spectacular but it generally never bothers me so best ask someone more anal about that sort of thing. (I own a VS gtab which has horrible viewing angles but doesn't bother me as generally I'm looking straight on at my devices when in actual use, but I can see the diff. btwn some of my devices and my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0+ screenwise.)
en_US ICS kb is borked by the fact that essential keys(numeric screen select/etc.) are hidden by the home/back/etc. softkeys/status bar. baidu en_US kb works ok as a replacement though.
ICS fw is stuck at 600MHz but claims 1GHz. There is a GB fw(2.3.4 IIRC) and a hacked OCed kernel available(same story as with s601).
Also available are root and play store package.
I've kept mine mostly stock ATM(sideloaded some diagnostic tools mostly) in the hopes that JXD do a fw like with the s601, higher voltage & clock rate that work for ICS fw.
Sound lag is obvious in the shipped genesis emulator, jump sound occurs a bit after pressing jump in sonic & knuckles.
Mario 64 seemed to run OK with the provided N64 emu. (see dingoonity thread)
This is all @ 600MHz/shipped ICS fw.
I've still yet to install fpse as that is my real main interest perfwise as it'll 0obviously does well enough emulating older systems & N64(which I just used as a rough perf metric given that I care little about N64).
Basically it's under a $100 w/"free" shipping option, so what can you expect? (Although they certainly could've easily done better on WiFi...)
Originally I had also though of picking up a Yinlips YDP G18A (capacitive touchscreen(for real) 5pt.) but now have decided to wait out summer/early fall to see what pops up in handhelds with game controls & SoCs.
I ordered mine from willgoo using DHL and it basically got here in 2d of shipping, Shenzhen, PRC -> Michigan. US Customs HAD opened the package, DHL shipping sleeve, cardboard outer box, but I think that at most they might have popped the lid open on the actual JXD "retail" box as everything was still neatly packaged in it when I opened it. Plastic DHL bag was hacked to hell though and has nice green US customs tape on it...

If its running 1.6 how does it have, "Browser comes with Flash Lite version 3.1 and supports playback of SWF contents up to Flash 9 and ActionScript 2.0"

Nice, though it's a rip-off and I would prefer a more expensive one that really has competitive hardware to the iPad.
Not sure I want Android on a Slate, though. I think I'll wait for the HP Slate, since I want to be productive on the thing.
But I would prefer this over an ebook reader.

Im looking for more of a tablet, not ebook reader..i'm not a fan of the clamshell-touchscreen shape..very odd device imo..
Also you guys should check out enso-now.com they sell the 'zenPad'..its a pretty cool 5'' android tablet starting at $155, you can add gps for $25 and it has decent hardware specs..
Does anybody know anything about the Rockchip processor in it? I read somewhere that it was an ARM9 processor. That would be pretty old and slow. Wikipedia says it's based on Cortex-A8.
I am placing an order for one of these this next week. I contacted a different seller and they said that there are a few different versions. I am getting one with all the specs on that page except 4 gig nand and 512 ram. Now hopefully someone that knows alot more than I do will start releasing roms for it so I can get it running the way my G1 is.
can you please post a link/price to the one you bought? I'd love to see custom roms for these...

Hi
I receive this tablet, that cool, but just under android 1.5. 2gb flash memory. Autonomy not very large with wifi, but with no wifi that cool. With mp3 active I listen music about 3 hours and I past 100 % to 70 %, that cool.
Now I would like to past to 1.6 or 2.1, seller says me that will arrive but when I do not know (like him...).
So if dev can give support, I take it.

You sound foreign. As if you are the seller of this crappy 7 inch tablet (from HK).
Are you trying to save face after another poster said that the processor was ancient?
Your also trying to see if someone will hack away and make this tablet Android 2.1.
Fat Chance.
This processor would choke on Droid 2.1.
Spammer
I put in an order for one of these yesterday, I'm definitely interested to see how well it preforms. If it is a fairly obvious process I'll crack mine open and take some shots of the internals for you guys. I'm guessing it will take about 2 weeks shipping though so don't expect anything soon.
As for getting a newer kernel onto these I would happily offer any assistance I can.
I think the biggest issues for me are
Marketplace access
Video benchmarking (bitrates and container formats)
Uniformity of these devices. These are offered by a few hundred sellers under at least 4 names hopefully they all are identical hardware wise as it will make drivers easier to write.
slaming These have a 600MHz ARM core and a 550MHz DSP for video decoding. Some sellers are adding these together and rounding up to claim a 1.2GHz clock speed. Its an old and regrettable tactic.

Also mattrb you really need to take a chill pill "You sound foreign. As if you are the seller of this crappy 7 inch tablet (from HK)." is just about the most bigoted thing I've heard this week. The guy was being helpful telling you his experiences with battery endurance and you insult him, don't be childish.
BTW a little more info about the Rockchip 2808. From the research I have done it looks like this chip is based around the arm926 core. It isn't the fastest thing out there but it gets the job done. If the Rockchip version has onchip cache it should be quite decent indeed. Supposedly this core produces 220MIPs at 200MHz in the stock configuration so we should expect roughly 660MIPs at 600MHz. For comparison a Motorola Droid is based on the Cortex A8 at 600MHz which makes about 1200MIPs. The actual iPad uses the Cortex A9 core clocked at 1Ghz and produces about 2500MIPs (surely as we are without all of apple's crappy code we will have a serious advantage ). Also I have seen a few notes about a this chip being used in some devices at 886Mhz (google the Tongfang-q5). I doubt that there are different versions of the chip produced and I doubt even more the manufacturer would be overclocking the chip without some testing that it remained reliable. Hopefully this means we can squeeze some more cycles out of these tablets. This will obviously be at the expense of battery life and to some degree longevity. But at this price who cares *lmao*.
A little update: I confirmed that the Rockchip 2808 is a licensed ARM926EJ-S derivative wwwdotarm.com/community/partners/display_product/rw/ProductId/4010/ stupid link blocking
Second update: I just started a wikipedia page for the rockchip family. Any info you can provide would be most helpful. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockchip
Let us know how well it works. I might get one just to show off ppls with ipad.

If so £70 (price & delivery) seems ludicrously cheap. At that price even if it's not brilliant it's got to be worth it right?

[Q] quiz: why did you return your g-tablet?

I got my g-tablet from Sears on November 2 and returned it to the store yesterday. I told them it does not have flash as stated on the box and the display is of very poor quality. I got full refund.
Why did I return it?
- Nvidia quality sucks: I had dead laptop, because of defective nvidia chip. If you don't believe it check this: Apple, Dell and HP got a class action suit against Nvidia: www nvidiasettlement com. OpenGL drivers are full of bugs they may have fixed Angry Birds, but there are plenty other bugs I'm sure.
- Nvidia does not conform to standards. No NEON instructions in Tegra. They try to play their desktop video card game, by providing custom APIs and making their applications incompatible with other ARM CPUs. So far it is the opposite - applications that run good on every other Cortex A8, does not play on Tegra.
- Nvidia keep their specs closed. I tried to get information on how to hook a hardware JTAG debugger, but all specs are opened only for partners.
- The device has the worst display I've seen. In portrait mode it gives me distorted colors even when looked at 90 degrees angle.
- The device is made by Malata and not Viewsonic. There is no track history for this company and I don't want to risk my money with unknown hardware quality (software we all know sucks)
For all folks expecting Notion Ink Adam: I'm sorry but this is going to be the same crap. Notion Ink has no proven record (neither Pixel Qi),combined with a low quality Nvidia chip, this is going to hurt.
I'm going to wait for the upcoming Acer tablet with a 10-inch screen that will run a Qualcomm dual-core 1 Ghz processor (produced on the new 28nm technology, supports out of order execution).
One good word about the G-tablet: the apx mode allows you to flash any OS, but the tablet has only 512MB internal Flash, which is not enough for dual boot.
My perfect tablet needs to be a laptop replacement: that means dual boot Android/Gentoo Linux, ability to boot every other ARM OS(windows phone, etc) from a sdcard. Also it has to have a case with keyboard and mouse pad (to be used as laptop when needed).
The TnT interface shows how clueless are Viewsonic about what the people actually need.
I bought mine about 3 days ago.. and I'm returning it today because of the poor viewing angles on the screen.. and also because of the laggy ui.. even with custom roms
edit: changed my mind and I'm going to keep mine for a while. there's a lot of great work being done with custom roms that might fix the lagginess. looking forward to notion inks announcement on december 9th!
i have had mine for about a week, the only way i'm returning it is if something better comes out within my 30 day window. it certainly does have flaws but i'm gonna give it more of a chance.
I am keeping mine because I am running Android 2.2 which doesn't take advantage of the dual-core processor, and because it is more of an accessory than a laptop replacement for me. This is definitely a hacker's unit more than an out-of-the-box laptop replacement.

Keeping mine. Roebeet has been working hard to make this tablet worth something. I have no compaints with this device while running tnt lite other than the screen viewing angles. Even still, 9 times out of 10, im holding my device right in front of me so viewing angles are not as big of factor. This device is really just ahead of its time. The hardware is there, just the operating system is yet to be optimized for a 10 inch tablet with a tegra 2 processor. Roebeets tnt lite is just a sneak peak at what this thing is capable of. Once there is a 100% stock android it will run even faster, or even android 3.0. With this thing being completely open, its only a matter of time. This is a hackers paradise. Its so new that not everyone was able to get their hands on it yet. Give this thing time, i think you will be suprised what this thing can do and regret returning it.
I'm keeping mine. With a good bit of modding its actually nice to use. The screen angles are pretty bad in good lighting but is fine in low light situations. So I just use it in landscape in good light areas. Aside from the screen and sadly the TnT software this Malta pad is great. It even has a potential to be a beast as new products are released and Tegra 2 support becomes stronger.
Anything we get until Feb of next year is going to be a bit of a mess. All the top tier companies who only want to release a 100% consumer friendly product are holding off for Honeycomb. The current releases are either mid tier companies hungry for market share, bottom of the barrel companies releasing crap, and start ups like Adam using time as an opportunity.
We're on the bleeding edge and it shows. Likely the only company thats going to put in the effort needed to make this a good experience is Adam. They're a new company with something to prove. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if the their tab ends up going for $600 and still selling well.
Bottom line: If you can put up with the viewing angles and 1 reboot a day this is a decent deal. Especially if you got it for $280 like I did .
Keeping mine and bought up Sears stock for today's sale, sorry about that anyone who shops near me. These rock after being loaded up correctly
No way I'm taking my back. After flashing to TnT Lite 2.02 it's a keeper. Now if I could only get wireless tethering to work it would be golden.
does this question really belong in development?

For $280 this tablet is a steal. There is no doubt in my mind that I would keep this tablet at that price.
However, at $417 after tax I'm on the fence about keeping this tablet. Performance wise, I can't complain. It's easily the fastest tablet on the market right now. After loading up TnT Lite with flash, this tablet is amazing. It's so much fun surfing the web. Battery life is great, this thing sips power.
but the screen, OMG the screen. It's just bad. I don't know any other way to say it. In portrait mode, it's usable but you can tell the image looks different at the top than it does at the bottom. I've found that there is really only one way to hold the tablet to get a good view and that is directly infront of you slightly below eye level.

That was my question also, but I decided not to comment as I had assumed that a mod would've moved it to general by now.
Anyways ATM I'm keeping it. My primary reason for returning it would be driven by the form factor, as I REALLY MUCH prefer 7" for tablets. Just more portable and better for reading fiction, which means IF I keep that I'll also want a complementary 7" tablet. I just find 10" to be unwieldly.
As secondary reasons I would point out the absence of various features advertised on the box itself.
Just wish that a 7" Tegra2 would come out... I'd be all over it.
Where do i get one for $280

some sears outlet stores have refurbs for 279
I think the problem with the question of "why did you return it" is that the people who did return it are probably not scanning this forum anymore.
I've been scanning the negative comments (which are mostly valid crticisms, I might add), and I've compiled a list in my head:
- The crappy UI
- The crappy UI (important enough to be mentioned twice)
- The viewing angles, especially when watching while laying on a desk. (btw, flip the device around, so that the camera is on the bottom, and you can get around that).
- No official Flash yet, even though the darn icon is on the box.
- App compatibility issues, in particular the g-sensor issue in games.
- Lack of h264 high profile playback support (this is a Tegra 2 hardware limitation, btw).
- Performance, even with the UI mods. That seems to be more of an Android limitation, given that dual core is not being exploited.
- Lack of HDMI given that there's no dock, and a lack of accessories like a case.
- The bang-for-the-buck.
The last one is important because I have seen more than few posts from people returning the item who mentioned that they might have kept it of were $300, or if they could snag a $279 outlet device. It's not that the device is "bad", but more that you didn't want to break the bank for a device that is really not fully optimized yet. And I can understand that 100%.

I'm FIRMLY in the $300 camp as BOTH Staples & Sears had the gTab right next to a $299 and $249 Atom based netbooks(ASUS, Acer, Toshiba and something else...). Kind of a smack in the face to be asked to pay $400 for a less functional device, although I can kind of understand part of the reason being that the Tegra2 SoC isn't quite as cheap as ALL of the other SoCs. $400 still just seems like a hype price to me, and I do feel kind of ripped... would feel better IF it had a better camera(maybe 2) and GPS builtin... ...and if I had any REAL expectations of longterm VS support and OS upgrades, e.g. next Android version...
Yes, and I'd have to add viewing angles to my list of possible return reasons from using it a bit last night(in bed) with some sideloaded apps that forced portrait mode...

Wow, glad you were given an opportunity to complain about NVidia.... The class action suit you're referring to was in reality a problem of the OEM which NVidia and most OEMs covered completely. My Dell laptop at work died and was replaced with a newer model in ONE WEEK. Two year old information = FUD.
I returned mine after about 2 weeks. Didn't work well out of the box and wanted something with smaller screen. I went ahead and got the Galaxy Tab instead.
But I will be checking out the Sears Outlet for the blackfriday returns to play around with it.
Because of touch screen
I got my g tablet from Sears the day before Thanksgiving and had a lot of time to play with it. I had gotten to market to work and installed several apps and had even gotten used to the stock UI. But I am extremely disappointed in the responsiveness of the touch screen. There are time you have to press very hard on the icon to open a program. And typing is a chore. Unless there is something you have to do to calibrate the screen I will be returning it Monday. Also, I thought I read that it came with a temporary plastic film over the screen, but mine did not. There was a foam protector attached to the inside of the box.
Is there anything I can do to increase the sensitivity of the touch screen? I would love to keep it - but not with the way the touch screen is working (or NOT WORKING)

I'm FIRMLY in the $300 camp as BOTH Staples & Sears had the gTab right next to a $299 and $249 Atom based netbooks(ASUS, Acer, Toshiba and something else...). Tegra 2 is in the starting point of it's cost curve, so about $75 of the price is cost and correlating profit margin, since companies are not going to scale to their cost
You will find that the newer Tegra 2 devices in Q1 & Q2 2011 will all be around $500, since you will then also be paying for better displays and brand names too
The display on this device is how they were able to put a Tegra 2 in it -cost balancing. Ironically, if the OEM would have rotated the display 180 degrees when building them, it would not be an issue. Display looks as good as the Archos 101- when upside down

Not too shabby...
Nice catch.....IPS YES!!!!
These tablets remind me of Blackberry phones. They're all different, yet they're all the same. You have a Curve,Bold,etc..one or two things may be different, other than that, you can't tell them apart. Perfectly fine with my GTab, until something really major is brought to the table.
Aside from the better screen I can't see a good reason to ditch my g tablet.

Big ditto!
Colour me surprised if they can actually deliver all that and still keep that price point...
With the 3G/3.5G + GPS Option included I don't expect it to stay @ $449
I got my gTablet because it was a great value for the cost...I still think it was a great deal...
Will be nice to compare how this tablet measures up once it is released and we have a better idea on the real cost...
Thanks for the link!
Couldn't really tell from that video, but are the viewing angles any better on that screen? If they are, maybe a replacement screen for the Gtab is in our near future. ;-)

No offense, but the OP is pure conjecture, considering that device has not released yet. How can the G lose steam to a device not even out or (until now) made notice of?
That same premise could be used for several other devices coming out, as you could for any device "losing steam". I would say sucky out of box experience lost the steam for the G for most but modders.
Not to mention this device still has to actually ship in a few weeks and at $450. Not to mention mod support. G is already locked in for that.
I will take my $350 G with 13gb of extra space and proven mod community ANY day over that. Unless Webtop is being used, 1gb is is yet to prove a big difference maker for speed. Webtop needs 1gb ram just to not choke the system down. Seriously.
I am in total agreement with rushless. Our gTabs are a piece of electronics. And like all electronics there is a never-ending march of newer and "better" models on the horizon. Personally, at this moment in time, I can't think of a better tablet for me.
Thanks to the efforts of the gtab-devs here I have been thoroughly enjoying this tablet for the last month. This tablet was the perfect mix of price, performance, and the right amount of support from the xda community.
I wish nothing but the best for the OP and hopefully he enjoys the tablet he ends up with as much as I enjoy my gTab.
IPS screen is the only thing (if true) that would be of interest to me.
I will wait and see what the final specs are - I for one hope that this is true, and that we find this at some B&M stores to try out.
As much as I would like a better screen, the Gtablets' will do for me till there is an option with a minimum 720P (1280x720, 1280x800 or 13##x768 ) screen, posibly IPS, with a tablet optimized OS ( Honeycomb ); oh, and resonably priced. Think I might be waiting a while. Well I did buy a second one in December so I'd stop haveing mine taken by the familly to play 'Angry Birds'.
This post cracks me up..you want to play the waiting game? go ahead...shortly after you buy the next great thing something better will be out. I myself was going to wait but i'm tired of waiting. I have a gtablet and i am very happy with it.

This is a 10" version of their current 7" device. The specs seem smack talk at $450, due in part to both the radios it will have, extra 512mb ram and ESPECIALLY the display.
Following the path of their 7" model, expect two months or so wait for the device and then a little more for mods- G serves me well now and at less cost.
The Moto Zoom seems interesting, but since tied to phone carriers, it will be artificially too high prices (like the Galaxy Tab) because of it.
Side note:
A positive about our display is when on a plane or other places, you have less spectator viewing. VS should have marketed it as a "private display" Then again, based on the out of box effort- there was NO marketing in the first place.
Gtablet vs Elocity A7
I have both and the Gtablet is the king. The Elocity A7 I enjoy but it has not been tweaked yet. The forum is just sort of getting started. The initial firmware updates are slower than what Viewsonic has been doing.
Cifs, NTFS, IPV6, and more in new kernels everywhere for the Gtablet and there are no kernel options yet for Elocity. No source code has surfaced from Elocity which could be bad for user development.
Don't get me wrong, the Elocity has its place in my hands, for size, weight, slightly better display.
Pros: Both devices
Gtablet - long life battery, flexibility, Great developer community and user support, 3300 on Quadrant
Elocity - Size, portability, fast out of the box, stock UI, rooted out of box, however need root manager to access /system. Has tremendous potential when firmware matches hardware.
Cons: Both devices
Gtablet - Weight
Elocity - Battery is far from the monster the Gtablet carries
I'm sticking with this until something completely different or superior comes about that I have to change.
Keep in mind that they announced 7 different configurations for the 10" model. I'm guessing for the min at $450, it'll be 4gb internal with 512mb ram wifi only with no 3g/gps.
wrong specs i see online it says 7
" inch screen not 10"
Not for me
this one did not tickle my taste buds, with the extent of customization, low price tag, battery life and not to mention incredible dev support; so far Gtab is more hot and spicy. Need a better recipe on table to loose my gtab. Regarding screen on this g string i do not mind it, with restricted viewing angle it works like privacy screen so that i can enjoy my stuff....
Hats off to the g tab dev for transforming this raw beauty to bombshell..
their efforts are really appreciated.

New 7" Tablet from china

First Tablet witch ICS
With new processor and GPU. and its cost only $99
http://www.ainovo.com/
The Novo7 operates on a 1GHz MIPS-based XBurst CPU and comes incorporated with the Vivante GC860 GPU that is responsible for offering 3D graphics. Boasting of Google CTS certification, it is equipped with a 7-inch capacitive multi-touchscreen display. This slab is capable of lending support to connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, USB 2.0, HDMI 1.3 and microSD.
Not bad for 99 bucks, might buy one
Mhh i might give it a try. Decent h/w for a nice price... <3
I am interested as well, but I may wait to see what kind of development it gets before buying....
its all sold out when i tried to buy one.
I can't wait to get my hands on one. I would buy more for my relatives if it work w/o any lag & i hope some devs get their hands on some too.
Guess I was right on time. Ordered one 2 days back. Said it will take 2 weeks before they'll start shipping. They hope it will reach me before christmas.
Screen sucks from what I've read (crappy resolution) but if I look at novo7 reviews with gingerbread on it on youtube, device looks fast and everything works.
I'll only be using it on the go and while i'm in the library studying so its perfect for me, webbrowsing and games.
And it has a microsd card slot. Perfect when I take pictures with my camera and put it in if I'm somewhere even though the resolution is not that great.
My employer is selling $99 tablets with Gingerbread, and possibly 800Mhz processors...the only saving grace is their capacitive screens.
Next up, $200 outdated resistive-screened Coby, 800Mhz, no GPU. Better? $250 Coby, 1Ghz no GPU and a VGA webcam...rejoice.
This tablet is like a bolt out of the blue for awesomeness. Thank you XDA.
Sent from my Wildfire S
Lets hope lots of devs will be able to get their hands on them. I think I'm going to wait until the 8" or 10" to come out before getting one. But, I'll probably buy my two nieces one each so they won't be fighting over one.
I finally received mine today Time to unpack it
How to i get support if i buy this tablet. will i get support from india?
I'd like to know more about this tablet. For all of you who have it: Is it worth the buy?
Ok don't be angry . I'm gonna sell it, I just had a quick look at the device to see if everything worked before selling it.
I looked round the internet and found out that the tablet is basically a regular Novo 7 tablet only with android 4.0 installed.
Then I read that the sourcecode for the regular gingerbread Novo 7 tablets has been released and they're expecting a 4.0 update.
Having paid 120 euros incl. shipping for the device and seeing that I can get the regular gingerbread Novo 7 for way cheaper, I decided to sell the device and will wait and see what the future brings.
Untill then guess its back using my HP Touchpad.
What I noticed in the 1 minute I used the device. Fast opening video and photos. Screen resolution is indeed low but actually looks better then I expected. I could see details in the photos and they looked good.
The Device itself felt great. Perfect size, not heavy. The white back looks awesome.
It actually doesnt look/feel cheap at all.
I guess overall the device is really awesome, only downside is the screen but if you can live with a normal screen instead of a supersharp screen then you should definitely get one.
So, my new Novo 7 Paladin arrived at my door about an hour ago. I live in Shanghai, so I ordered online yesterday & it arrived today.
Price was 499 RMB (or around $79 USD ), and seller paid shipping charges. Pretty amazing deal. Many sellers at that price online in China...check this link here...
I've spent maybe 30 minutes or so playing with it...
- It came with Android 4.0 installed as advertised. This is my first exposure to the new OS, so I'm still getting used to it.
- The device came with a bunch of Chinese apps & several games preloaded (a bunch of which I've already uninstalled).
- Wi-Fi fired right up & was online in moments...no problems
- It seems like a simple, solid device...not flashy by any means, but I'm not sure what more you could expect at this price point.
- I haven't tried any movies or music yet...I'm charging it up right now & will play with it more later.

Yinlips ydpg18a (5" 5-pt capacitive)

Heads up:
Doing my semi-monthly google for "android capacitive 'shoulder buttons'" to see any news on devices with gaming controls (shoulder buttons tend to be enough of a key phrase), and noticed a bit of news on Yinlips ydpg18a from a couple days ago. I'm a forum noob so no links, but it's easy enough to search the model.
Looks like another PSP-like body/controls with Android brains and some added bits (HDMI out, USB host, accelerometer) (but no GPS or bluetooth), but unlike earlier models, this one has capacitive screen. $150ish with the previous resistive model clearanced around $110, but I guess those prices may fluctuate depending on the shop.
I didn't look over the specs too hard, mainly I just balked at the JXD s7100's lack of shoulder buttons and the aforementioned PSP-likes with no capacitive screens, and my interest piqued at this Yinlips model.
I figured those Chinese factories would get around to interesting updates, but I got impatient since January and bit on a used Xperia Play which I figured would hold me fine, but I underestimated the pace they're cranking out updates to their Chinese handhelds.
Of course, I'll be waiting to see what the word is on this ydpg18a from actual users, so I figure 3-4 weeks before a good body of chatter on the matter.
Well, the new YINLIPS YDPG18A can be found at eBay website now.
Just go to eBay and write: YINLIPS YDPG18A
I also can not write links now, but it's really interesting this model.
Also AsiaPads sell this new version
Adding information, JXD launched the model JXD S5110. Also can find at eBay.
Both are capacitive screen, but JXD already supports Android 4.0

Nope, over at dingoonity it was discovered that the S5110 actually has a resistive touch screen, 3pt.
One seller(willgoo) contacted JXD and was told that it was "between" a capacitive and resistive screen. Supposedly fairly responsive but we'll see as mine left HK latish today their time/EARLY morning my time... hope that it's routed to the local airport so I MIGHT get lucky and have it tomorrow ...
willgoo also sells the 18A, and they've been participating in the s5110 thread @ dingoonity and generally seem to be very responsive and helpful. i.e. seem to be a very good seller or so my experience so far would indicate, plus their willingness to participate in a forum, very unusual for chinese sellers or at least as far as posting on english boards goes...
My s5110 should get delivered today as it made it to local dhl delivery office about an hour ago...
Well, as I have seen on forums the capacitive or resistive screen of JXD S5110 was a problem caused by JXD it seems. Anyway I received my YDPG18A from AsiaPads without any problem in Spain this friday by EMS shipping. Service was good for me, I don't know if it's so good than Willgoo or not, but AsiaPads is ok.
Regards
i was thinking about buying a yinlips just because of the emulators
but im kind of scared of the quality of these china handhelds and battery time

So wheres the review then?
Well, I'm not an experienced user, so I'm not sure about what can I test.
My first videoconsole was an ATARI, later NES and SNES. Some years later PS2 and last was Nintendo Wii (gift), I really played few times the wii, so you can think last years I'm a little lost about videogames world but the YINLIPS makes me happy because can play those old games again and portable! Also this islike a Tablet PC (I already have a SciPad prodigy).
I think the difference between YDGP18 and YDPG18A is just the screen. Now it's Android 2.3 yet.
While I think what can I test I show a picture taked just now
(I can not write links and pics yet........ I need to write some posts more)
---------- Post added at 09:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:55 PM ----------
By the way, I received a discount code for AsiaPads
code: ce0aa8b8
Discount: 5%
Finish: 30th JUN 2012
