[Q] Can't boot after CM9[SOLVED] - HTC Desire S

Hey XDA
I tried to install CM9 today, it fail...
I have unlocked my phone using htcdev.com.
Then I followed this:
If you unlocked your phone via htcdev.com, you must flash the included
boot.img after flashing the ROM in recovery:
- Boot into fastboot, either by:
- Turning phone on whilse holding VOLUME DOWN, or
- adb reboot bootloader, or
- using an option in your recovery (eg. Reboot Bootloader)
- Connect your phone to your PC and copy the boot.img from the ROM .zip
to the same place as fastboot.exe and issue the following command:
- fastboot flash boot boot.img
Failing to follow these instructions on a htcdev.com unlocked device will
cause the ROM to fail to boot.
And now it just stands with a mobile and a ret warning sign. I can get in bootloader, but that's all. I have the CM9.zip on the sdcard but I forgot to run it before I did the above mentioned. I have tried to reset the mobile from bootloader nothing helps
Pleas help me what should I do?

So what is your problem exactly ? Do you have a custom recovery like 4EXT ? It's needed in order to apply the CM9.zip.

None
No i have not installed any recovery app. I cant start my mobile

1.install a custom recovery like 4ext or cwm
(2. Backup current system) this time you don't have to do this since you don't have a working system at the moment.
3. Full wipe (data, system, boot, caches... Not sd card) from recovery
4. Flash ROM zip from recovery
5.flash boot.img via adb
6.reboot
7.done
Sent by my fingers to your head.

How?
The recovery app Is it ón the computer or the Mobile?
ón Mobile how do i get it ón?

I'm assuming you know how to boot into fastboot and use fastboot and adb commands. If not, just click on the link in my signature under Helpful links.
Once you're done, just put the attached file in your adb folder, then boot into fastboot and issue the command ;
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

You will now have the custom 4EXT Recovery. From there, just follow the steps you outlined in your first post, and you should be up and running.
Cheers.
EDIT: I see you already got it working while I was composing my post. Congrats!

@op could you please update the thread title to something like [solved]

[Q] boot loop after twrp recovery flash

Hi, I tried to root and ended up with boot loop (HTC screen).
My steps:
-unlocked bootloader (OK)
-in cmd executed: fastboot flash recovery using TWRP 2.6.0.0.img (OK)
-and i couldn't boot twrp recovery in cmd: fastboot boot recovery ...img - error message FAILED remote:incomplete boot image
Any advice? Do I need to flash back to stock recovery? Where can I download it? The attached is my software version. I would like to start my mobile only. I don't care about root at this stage. thanks for your help.

Hi,
you should erase cache (fastboot erase cache). Then try to start recovery directly from phone cause Fastboot boot will only start an
boot Image not recovery.

You might have a corrupted download. Try verifiying the MD5 hashes and if they don't match re-download/flash it.

Restore Android Stock's Recovery Mode

Hello! I've tried to root my phone (Moto G XT1541 Europe 1GB) but failed. I got an error when trying to flash the custom recovery. Unfortunately, it has overwritten the stock recovery and it didn't install. So, now I have a phone without recovery and I can't do a factory reset because of that (I think).
So, this is my question: how can I re install the default Android 6.0 recovery mode for my phone?
Also, my phone boots automatically on bootloader mode and I can't re-lock the bootloader because I can't flash anymore either; I got an error because the pre flash validation failed when trying to flash with adb fastboot, but this is minimal issues that doesn't really bother me, but they could be helpful and if someone knows how to get rid of them, I want to know!
I hope someone will help me!

The bootloader cannot be relocked in the Moto G 2015, the best you can do is hide the warning screen. Find the stock image and fastboot flash the recovery from there, or better yet, flash the entire image so you are in a known working state
If you are in Pre-Flash validation, you do not have the correct image for your device... I suggest you post in the "How to flash factory images" thread about returning to stock, if it is possible. You MUST factory default before flashing factory images, if you can't, try 'fastboot erase userdata' and try again.
Flash latest twrp via fastboot and reboot into recovery ,
don't reboot into system,
reboot into recovery manually, then you can enter twrp recovery and can flash supersu 2.62.3.
when you just reboot after flash twrp and reboot system erase custom recovery and save stock recovery, so don't enter fastboot reboot, enter fastboot reboot recovery after flash recovery via pc.
Rename twrp recovery as only twrp in fastboot folder in your pc , not as twrp.img,
But cmd as fastboot flash recovery twrp.img , then no errors ( are you unlocked bootloader ?)

Hey! Thank you! I've been able to flash the TWRP recovery and now I can do a factory reset (and also send sms, which I couldn't do anymore for some reason).
I still have the issue where the bootloader screen appears everytime I turn my phone on, and I still can't re lock my device because I can't flash anything either. I've recovered all of my data, so I think I'm going to stick with that for a moment but maybe I'll try what you said some day.
Again, really thank you for helping me!

Now I understand why my flashing TWRP did not take. I simply rebooted to system and still have stock recovery installed. I was successful booting twrp via fastboot and successfully flashed supersu 2.62.3. Is this step in listed in any faq? I must have missed it.
So after flashing TWRP, do you then power down device prior to manually booting to recovery?

Don't power down, already you are in fastboot mode, you can just enter recovery from that. I forget the reference, but i will search and post.
---------- Post added at 04:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:18 PM ----------
I get this from twrp official page
Note many devices will replace your custom recovery automatically during first boot. To prevent this, use Google to find the proper key combo to enter recovery. After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install.
In our phone press simultaneously volume down + power button to enter recovery.

My OPO can't start normally

When tap power button, my OPO start the recovery instead of start the system.
use any reboot command of ADB only lead to reboot to revocery.
I even can't enter fastboot mode or bootloader mode.
I flash so many ROMs, and it seems not working.
Plz help!

Download this
cm-13.0-20160819-SNAPSHOT-ZNH5YAO0IN-bacon.zip
Extract boot.img from the zip to your windows pc.
connect your phone and copy the zip to internal memory.
I'm assuming you have TWRP on your phone as you said you flashed so many roms.
in recovery wipe > Dalvik/art cache, system., data, cache.
Flash the downloaded zip.
reboot to bootloader (Now it should be able to boot into fastboot)
connect phone to pc (make sure fastboot drivers are installed, google it if u don't know)
open command prompt and type...
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
then type this...
Code:
fastboot reboot
tell me how it goes.
still can't enter bootloader, just recovery after reboot.

Thanks buddy. Took me few tries and combination. but now im back with my device. And as guessed, twrp was/is the culprit.
