Returning to Stock - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Have a question about returning to stock. I followed BlueSix's guide to copying the PG59IMG to an sd and then inserting it into the device and booting to fastboot but it keeps saying there is no image and doesn't update. I'm in the process of trying to download another image but maybe I'm missing something, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

If you are on a windows computer, it most likely is set to hide knows file extensions by default.
That means when you rename it to PG59IMG.zip it actually ends up being PG59IMG.zip.zip
That would make it not get picked up when rebooting to hboot.
First thing to check...
Sent from a digital distance.

Thanks Blue that was the problem. Appreciate the help.

revert to stock g1 from modded

i have a g1 that i installed Jesusfreaks 1.31 to and also flashed hardspl to it.. im having serious battery issues so i am going to return my phone for another one.. im trying to find a how-to on reversing everything i have done along with the stock rc30 image... can someone please point me at a tutorial or in the right direction...
i have googled it for the past 30 mins and have found nothing..
thanks
Download the G1Orig SPL here, flash that. Then download one of the revert update packages here and flash that. Remember to Alt+W to wipe the user and cache partitions too.
Edit: By the way are you having recurring serious battery charge loss or was it just one event?
You could flash the original bootloader (image is in the SPL thread) and then load the stock t-mobile rc29 onto your phone. Then take your phone to T-Mobile for warranty.
This way it just seems as though your phone never got the OTA rc30 update
I brought my phone in to ask a question about a clicking noise my phone had (the arm that the display moves on feels loose) when open. The guy behind the counter asked to see my phone and I was not thinking...he took it and noticed the clicking but said it was normal; he showed me his phone and a few display phones that did the same. Then he fired up "About phone" and suddenly became quite...he turned quite confused and told me that this was not a Dev phone. I played dumb and told him "I don't know, this is how it came from the store when I got it last month..." He then rebooted my phone to see both custom spash screens and the engineering boot loader...I wish I had a camera for the look on his face.
Oddly enough, both he and his manager were reluctant to give me my phone back.
So yeah, I recommend putting a stock rc29 on your phone before taking it in
i downloaded the origSPL and when i go to flash it with alt s it says verifying update package
no signature
verification faield
installation aborted
its renamed to update.zip and im assuming because i have done this before that i am doing it correctly .. any advice?
Did you already revert back to official Android? The SPL updaters are signed with test keys, so if you have already reverted to official Android then anything signed with test keys will fail to flash.
this is my build and kernel version..
would this be the updated rc30? i thought that i updated it correctly and i assume that i could not have flashed hard spl if i hadnt
Kernel version
2.6.25-01843-gfae26b0
[email protected] #19
build numberer kila-user 1.0 tc4-rc30 116143 ota-rel-keys,release-keys
When you enter recovery mode do you see JF's custom background or is it the standard recovery?
its JF's recovery screen.. im thinking to flash the test key recovery.img and then downgrade.. flash the new orig spl then the orig rc30.. witll that work?
If you're seeing JF's recovery screen then you already are running on test keys; there is no need to flash a different recovery.img
i have reformatted the sd card a bunch of times... only thing i can thnk of is that when i download the files from here to my mac it comes as a folder and then i zip them and rename them.. can this be the problem?
Comes as a folder? Sorry, I have no idea how macs work (or don't). You should not need to be zipping anything. If it worked before in the past i'm sure you got it working somehow. The MD5 of the file as it appears on the sdcard should be the identical to what I posted in the SPL sticky.

just use the RC29 NBH file and flash it from SD card. this will make it like it was out of the box.
but the spl will be the hardspl not the orig spl correct?
NBH file doesn't overwrite the SPL though, does it?

Just flash the Dream file here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=463779
It will go back to RC29 and back to that tri-color boot screen, then get the OTA RC30 here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=451090
ok.. i figured it out.. here was the problem.. on my mac when using safari in the preferences it has an option to auto open trusted files ..ex. pdf zips etc..
so it was unzipping the zips into folders.. then when i was re-zipping them it was messing it up.. i now have it working..
hope this helps others with this problem
and thanks to you guys for trying to help me trouble shoot it

There's your problem
that brings up the question...
to make thing simple for people.
Does anyone have the orignal G1 recovery.img image so for those who want to revert back to orignal firmware with ORIGNAL keys it would be nice.
for some people its better for them to know that thye are reversing their steps them.
what I know from all the threads above is just loading loading firmwares with test keys....
now how about the original recovery.img. Provding a reverse would be nice.
=)
Getting the original recovery.img is easy. Just download the original RC30/RC8 file from any mirror and open it up with your favorite archiving program. However in order to revert the SPL you would still need to be using test keys.
recovery I can do
the reverting of SPL..hell I dont know how to do that....

Desperate for help

I'd like to say, straight off the bat, that I have searched relentlessly, with only hints of success, but nothing actually turning up fruitful.
My problem is this:
tonight i decided to try out Cursorsense, it looked simple enough. I flashed my radio and SPL, and got ready to flash the new rom.
As I stared up the AmonRA recovery image (1.5.2 H), it suddenly restarted, and went into a boot-loop.
*I have read suggestions of flashing "permanently" but I am unaware how to do this.
*I have read about wiping the system, but this does nothing.
*attempts to use "fastboot update" give me an error of "failed to load update.zip" or a series of completely garbled text and other crap.
*attempts to use "fastboot boot" using either a new version of AmonRa's recovery image, or a stock sapphire image, give me an error of
booting... FAILED (remote: reproduce boot image with on-flash ramdisk error)
I find myself sleepy, and at a loss. I might be missing something fundamental, but I do need your help in seeing this.
This wouldnt be such a terrible issue if this wasnt a phone I use for work, but... so it goes.
Regards, and thanks in advance for any help.
pal, you need the *hero* AmonRA's recovery!
okay! There's some solid help now, would this solve my biggest (and pretty much only) problem, of the RA-Sapphire freezing/hanging and suddenly rebooting?
I say only problem, as I've just bought a card reader, so I can at least bypass the process of getting files onto the SD.

Your phone is rebooting because the new radio doesn't support the Sapphire recovery, you need to use the Hero recovery.

[Q] I think I bricked my sensation, can someone maybe suggest a way to fix it?

this is my problem:
No OS (cant boot past bootloader)
No recovery: clockwork is gone, no option at all to go to recovery from bootloader
No known ability to use ADB (cant get it to work from bootloader...but it does say it's connected to the USB on the phone, ADB does not see it in "adb devices" Trying to change the firmware yields this error: "partition update fail" and does not update. fails on bootloader update specifically and stops entirely
I get this error: fail-pu
what I did to get this: I was trying to reset it to factory status (S-on, unrooted, stock rom), no luck after trying to follow a tutorial on how to (the ruu.exe kept giving an error[171]. so I tried to just change the firmware to 1.17 (firmware listing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767), which I figured was default. I then used clockwork mod to restore a backup I made just after flashing clockword mod. I did choose "factory reset" from the bootloader page since nothing was working and I thought for some reason that may do the trick. since then I've been stuck with my current problems.
does anyone have some suggestions?
thanks for reading
Hi Wachuu,
I have asimilar problem and a Sensation in similar condition but I got the RUU running by simply leaving the sensation on and restarting the RUU. It seems to be a known problem that that thing needs to be run twice ...
My problem is, that the RUU hangs on "erasing user data ..." right now. Since more than half an hour. I'm pretty stuck so if anyone here has more suggestions, I would be grateful as well!
Thaks,
thomas
Maybe this helps, i had almost the same yesterday, phone didn't boot further then the white htc screen and i got an error trying to run the RUU. After some searching i found this, worked for me:
Download an RUU
1. You now need to pick the RUU you wish to flash, a good source is this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1074559
To debrand my Vodafone Sensation, I chose "RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.35.401.1_Radio_10.43a.90 0 7.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3_release_198179_signed"
2. Once you have downloaded the RUU you would like to flash, run it (it can take a while to load), and stop when you get the welcome screen, which has a picture of a Sensation on the left and a red caution notice on the right.
3. Move this window out of the way (it forces itself into foreground), then open up windows explorer and go to:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp
4. Then sort by Date Modified. Find the newest folder with a long random sequence of numbers as its name, go in here and you should see, three files and a folder: corecomp, dotnetinstaller, IBSEW64. (the files may be different on 32-bit OS), now go into the folder which has another long random name.
In there amongst a lot of files (use search if you need to), you will find rom.zip. This is the rom we want to flash!
5. Copy the rom.zip file to the root of your SD Card
(i.e. if your on Windows, X:/ [where X is the letter of your Sensation's SD Card])
6. Rename the rom.zip you just put on your SD Card, to PG58IMG.zip (ensure you do not rename it to PG58IMG.zip.zip or it wont work!)
7. Find the "HTC Android ROM Update Utility" Window, and hit Cancel.
I followed all your instructions but I was given the "fail-pu" while trying to flash the rom.zip (renamed)
happens on the bootloader part of the update (first one) and says "partition update fail" at the bottom
edit: another solution I'd be interested in is purposely frying the thing to get a warranty repair/replacement..

hmm ok, then i wouldn't know the solution, my knowledge doesn't go that far either.
Try the search function and search for the error your getting, i'm pretty sure there's someone out there who had the same issue and found a solution

just had a member with this error yesterday. try re-installing htc sync and running the ruu after that.

[Q] Flashed the wrong PG58IMG.zip

Very much a noob when it comes to Android phones and I have been working through the process to get a custom Rom on my HTC Sensation. I started following the instructions in this thread [Guide] to Installing S-off, Unlocking, ClockWork, Root, SuperCID & S-on and successfully completed step one, achieving s-off on the phone.
In step two things went badly wrong. Following the instructions I downloaded clockwork recovery and copied the PG58IMG onto my sd card, at least I thought I did. What I now realize is that since I had been doing a lot of reading and research on this topic before attempting it for the first time I had downloaded several relevant files in advance, one of which is the PG58IMG file from this thread [DEV] HTC Sensation & HTC Sensation XE firmware | Partitions Info | [01.03.2012 and it was this file that I put on the sd card. Obviously not what I should have flashed at all. Especially since it seems that the tool which would help me out of this mess is the one I just failed to install properly.
So the situation is that the phone loops constantly on startup when booting normally. When I boot into HBOOT with the SD card in it tries to update again and when that fails, gives no option but to reboot. If I remove the SD card then I get access to the following screen -
-Revolutionary-
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.27.1100
RADIO-10.14.9035.01_M
eMMC-boot
and below the options -
HBOOT
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
I have tried connecting the phone to my computer at this stage but I cant get FASTBOOT USB and adb cant find any devices either. Am I completely stuffed at this point? If not, if anyone can help me out with some instructions on what to do here I would be extremely grateful.
Thanks,
Webba
So have you tried to go into recovery once your in bootloader ? what happens then ?
If you get the correct files onto your sd card via a card reader, then put it in the phone, bootloader should attempt to update the new correct files.
I have tried going into recovery, it comes up with a pic of a phone with a green circle, followed by a phone with a red triangle, followed by going into the boot cycle. This is with the sd card removed. Am I right in thinking that if I get the right files onto the card and then run recovery with the sd card in it will work?
If you run BOOTLOADER then it should do... Make sure you remove the old PG58IMG before putting the new one on.
Thanks so much, I will try it as soon as I can. I assume I will find the right stock rom somewhere on these forums?

you will find anything and everything you will ever need on these forums
My Sensation was purchased in Hong Kong, after looking at the lists at shipped-roms this one - RUU_Pyramid_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.35.707.1_Radio_10.43a.9007.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3_release_198358_signed.exe
seems to be most likely correct. Can anyone more knowledgeable confirm this? I would hate to flash the wrong thing again.
did you successfully get superCID ? if so i do believe that you can flash any RUU / ROM
Im not 100% on this as im still new to the sensation myself, But im sure thats the whole point in having SuperCID
Unfortunately I dont have superCID. I was following the instructions pretty slavishly and the superCID setup is one step after clockwork
Is there a way to get superCID in my phones current state? From what I am reading I need it to at least hook up to adb which it is not doing at the moment so I assume I just have to get the right onto the sdcard to have any chance of it working, right?
Yes, You need clockwork mod before SuperCID. Have you tried to re download CWM and put it on sd card ? It could have just been a bad download, it happens to us all.
Download it again, Remove the previous PG58IMG from SD Card via a card reader (if you have one) Put the new PG58IMG on SD card. Pull battery out, Put SD Card back into the phone, put battery back in and boot into bootloader (volume down + Power)
Bootloader should automatically find the PG58IMG and ask if you want to update it, Select yes and theoretically you should be fine..
EDIT: Use this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=706572&d=1314848127
Yeah, I have re-downloaded CWM and made sure it is the right one I have to wait until the shops open here so I can pick up a micro sdcard reader but I will try the new CWM first, and if that fails then I will try the stock rom. Am I right in thinking that neither of this is likely to make the situation worse, even if they dont work?
No providing bootloader still works everything is fix-able..
We aint messing with bootloader so u will be ok.
Cant believe you dont have a card reader lol....
lol, up until today the only thing I needed to be able to read micro sd cards was the phone. Well, I will be better prepared next time anyway.
The thing that had me worried is that since I originally didn't realize PG58IMG was not a unique file name I am almost certain that the one on my sd card at the moment is not even CWM at all but one of the updated firmware ones I mentioned in the OP that I very stupidly mistook for it. It feels like a really serious mistake to make, but happy to know that if the boot loader is working then it should be fixable. I wasn't sure even about that.
I think the PG58IMG is a unique code that the phone reads and recognises as something to be flashed / updated.
Ive seen various things CWM / Firmwares / Updates with the same PG58IMG title. so maybe youre right and the original file you downloaded wasnt the correct one.
Dont panic, Keep calm, Ask questions, Get answers...... This is the only way to avoid a bricked phone
Yeah, you've saved me a lot of stress already. Ill be back in a few hours with the results of the next attempt. Thanks again!
Ok, the news is not great. I got hold of a micro sd adaptor so I could plug it into my computer and removed the old PG58IMG. I put the correct one (downloaded from this thread) on the sd card and rebooted the phone into HBOOT. It recognizes the file on the sd card but gets a cid fail and there is no option but to reboot which goes into the boot cycle.
Whats worse is that doing this apparently fries the sdcard. I tried it twice, because I am sucker for punishment and in both cases the sdcard is unreadable afterwards.
Maybe I should try and explain more clearly that I am now sure the PG58IMG that I first put on the card and flashed I am sure is the Firmware from 3.32.401.x & 3.32.401.10x RUU from this thread. It appeared to successfully update before rebooting the phone into its current state, causing me to realize I had the wrong file. I dont understand enough to know exactly whats going on but it seems pretty bad. Do you think I should try a 3rd sdcard with the Shipped ROM on it or is there something else I should do at this point?
Edit - The second sd card wasn't fried after all, but I am still searching for a shipped rom that isnt in .exe format, since the phone isnt connecting to the computer by usb at all right now. Anyone know where I can find one?
Edit - Ok, now I have fastboot usb which means I can use .exe shipped roms. adb devices cant find the phone though which means I cant superCID it which means I still have to find the right ROM. Since I brought the phone from HK I am trying all the asian ones first. Anyone know specifically which file at shipped-roms.com is the right one?
You flashed firmware for ics rom, so the stock rom won't boot and you have bootloop. If you flash the 3.12 firmware ( works for both ics and gb) that will resolve the loop and you will be able to continue with the guide and flash cwm.
Sent from my HTC Pyramid using xda premium
Hey Stringer7, do you mean this Firmware from 3.12.401.2/102 RUU available in the same thread? I will download it and give it a try.
edit - Gave it a try, I get CID incorrect from it too. Seems like CID incorrect for everything I try to flash atm.
What is your CID ??
Unfortunately I dont know. I didn't know I needed it before I started and now since the phone isn't talking to adb I cant use it to find out. All I know is that I bought the phone from Hong Kong about 6 months ago. Is there a way to check the CID with the phone the way it is now?

Retunr to stock help!

Hi all,
Im wanting to return my desire S back to stock as much as possible. I guess that getting back to complete stock (s-off/s-on, carrier lock etc) might not be possible, but can anyone point to a guide that will work.
I saw this thread but it has been removed and locked bizarrely -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604255
I did a search and ive had a browse but couldnt see anything.
Any help is much appreciated!
cheers!
p.s. thread title error - return* my bad!
by the way i tried the following -
Im in the UK on vodafhone so I ran RUU_Bravo_Vodafone_UK_1.19.161.5_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126338_signed.exe
and got error 155
So i tried extracting the rom from the RUU. whilst running i had to go to temp files and get the rom.zip, renamed it to PG88DIAG.zip which is recognized by fastboot, but this did not work. got a very quick pop up of wrong image etc (after taking a while to load it)
So im not sure where to go. Its currently S-On, is that the problem?
cheers!
