For some odd reason after I flashed hellfire sandwich my wifi wouldn't turn on.
I have
Wiped=still doesn't work
Reinstalled=doesn't work
Flashed several other roms=doesn't work
I have no idea whats going on. It will try to turn on, then force close settings.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks!
Quick update.
Reverted back to stock 2.2.2 aand nothing still had issues.
Could be a hardware problem?
Try installing the new "2.3.4 kdz" to get the updated March 2012 baseband and see if that helps.

I updated my stock Rogers Nexus 9020A via the manual update to 2.3.4 update went fine but now my search button randomly flashes and executes on it's own...is this a bug in stock 2.3.4? Also did a factory reset still problem exists.
Anyone else experience the same?
Im on Rogers as well. Had no problems at all...certainly not like this. Then i ended up switching to custom ROM's and what not just to add some enhancements. Try re-flashing? Did you create a backup first?
I had this problem prior to updating to 2.3.4. It has been 12 hours and I have not seen it occur. I am crossing my fingers on this one. Google claims they are investigating the issue. There were a lot of complaints on the Google Mobile forum. It seems random and occurs maybe once or twice a day, sometimes it skips a day.
So I was able to figure out the cause for the search button bug was the Baseband switching to KD1....I reverted back to 2.3.3 with baseband KD1 but problem still occured...once I switched the radio back to KB2 problem was gone....so any ideas on what I should do to get the Stock 2.3.4 update to function on my rogers device without the search button bug? I have not received any OTA notice on my phone yet. Anyone on Rogers receive the OTA?
So after trying to flash 2.3.4 many ways it is evident the baseband of KD1 is causing my Nexus S this search button bug. So now I am using 2.3.4 with the KB2 radio and it is rock solid. Anyone have an idea why only a select few nexus s 9020A phones are doing this after the 2.3.4 update?
Looks like a lot of people with the Canadian version Nexus S 9020A are experiencing the same problem once they upgrade OTA to 2.3.4 .....google is trying to narrow down the problem.

I cleared Dalvik cache, did not resolve the issue.
I know downgrading to kb2 would solve a lot of the issues, but then i still have issues with the search bug during navigation.
Let's see if we can figure this out.

Looks to be a confirmed bug in KD1 baseband:

So your saying since you bought your nexus s with the stock 2.3.3 you have had this issue?....and is the issue worse once you update to 2.3.4 like I have?

Yup. I need to do more testing but with kb2 I would only get it in gps mode.

Okay so i got my phone (US Cellular Samsung Galaxy S Mesmerize SCH-I500) from ebay and it came with gb 2.3.4 originally and i updated to 2.3.5 then later on to 2.3.6. After doing some homework i want to get back to froyo 2.2.2 but i cant!! I tried to flash back to EE19 via odin and it bricked my phone. Then tried flashing back to EC10 and it worked but what happens is it has no signal whatsoever (baseband is uknown/no phone number) pretty much everything is unknown except the build number/firmware version :crying: I just don't get what i'm doing wrong here guys. Every time i try to make the *228 phone call to activate it, it says phone is in airplane mode go to settings to turn it off to enable connections but it's not in airplane mode!!! I factory reset it took out the battery but nothing works!! Although i was able to flash back to 2.3.4 via odin and root it. But still i want to go back to froyo :/ Please someone help me get back to a working froyo :crying: I would so appreciate this if anyone can look into this for me for i am fairly new to android but i'm getting the hang of it If you figure this issue out get a hold of me anyway you can thanks everyone!!!
Hi, my friend has an SGH-i727R, stock ICS 4.04 unrooted and with Fido Canada. He was upgraded to 4.04 about 6 months ago, and there were no problems with the Wifi then.
He came back from his holiday and his phone's wifi had been stuck in the "turning on" position for a long time, and nothing can fix it.
He doesn't have a data plan, and I've tried installing stuff like Advanced Wifi Lock and Wifi Fixer through his SD Card, but it still won't turn on. He's done a factory reset, but it didn't solve the problem.
Is it a hardware problem? I want to ask before I root and install a custom ROM for him.
EDIT: It was on 4.1.2
I would Odin the stock jb firmware and see if it's still an issue. If it is, then it's probably hardware.
Hi guys,
As the title stated, I couldn't get the wifi to work at all. I tried flashing both stock and custom roms, but I still couldn't make it work. When I slide the wifi "on", it immediately slides back to "off". It didn't even scan for networks. Does anyone know what is the cause of this problem and how can I fix it? The last working custom rom I used was the Infusion rom. Right after I install the stock firmware, the wifi no longer works anymore.
Thanks.

I got the same exact problem after I flashed the faux kernel. :/ Were you able to find a solution yet?
Is anyone having issues with wifi being blacked out and won't turn on? when I try to go to settings it just hangs. When I reboot it comes back fine. S5 rooted w/ latest stock fw and hotspot fix(original)

Make sure next time post in [Q&A] forum. But it sounds like you broke something in one of the flashes as it not a common problem. Reflash stock firmware, redo root, etc. Try the updated Hotspot Mod.
sorry about that it won't happen again. Thanks for the info.
