[Q] Need your recombination for a stable (!) SENSE 4 ROM - HTC Sensation

I just got a Sensation for the wife.
Stability, stability, stability!
Which of the SENSE 4 roms would you chose for the job?
of course, other advice are always welcomed

I'm running coibdroid right now and I really reccomend it, its very nice and the support and update speed is very nice, once you get things configured right battery life is above average, however like other sense 4.0 roms there are still bugs like Bluetooth and WiFi calling
Sent from my sensational sensation 4g

don't get sense 4
I have Sensation, and I tried InsertCoin.
It seems that InserCoin is the most recommender rom with "stable" sense 4.
Well it is hardly stable, had many bugs.
I am using Revolution ICS by Mike1986, it has sense 3.6, I think you should try it until Mike1986 releases a stable sense 4 version, because when Mike1986 says the rom is stable, IT REALLY IS.
Goodluck, and if you find a really stable sense 4 rom, please share

Stable? Sense 4.0?

Coindroid definitely. Check it out

If your aim is stability then avoid Sense 4. The most stable roms are going to be the ones based on the 3.6 ICS update made for our phones. I'm not saying Sense 4 roms aren't stable, but a rom like ARHD ICS is certainly more so.

If you need the Bluetooth Hands Free option on your phone then you will not want Sense 4. Unfortunately that is one option that all the Devs have yet to fix.
Personally I cannot wait for them to do it, Sense 4 is great, but the Hands free is a necessity for me, so I'm back on 3.6.

I try a lot of roms with Sense 4, but stable, really stable only CoinDroid by Shnlon n Baad

I'd agree with this. I'm running CoinDroid and I like it, but I have frequent lockups. This seems to be related to wifi (with wifi off it runs all day, but if wifi is on and I move between access points I end up doing a battery pull or use adb to reboot). Bluetooth, FM radio, and internet pass-through don't fully work. If you don't rely on those capabilities it's "stable", but otherwise stick with 3.6.

ROM Choice Help?

Hi gang...I'm new to the Sensation and the rom choices are staggering!
I need a little guidance on what I should do....I'm about to root and need a solid fast daily driver...as I depend on my phone for family, emergencies and for business.
I'd like ICS..but concerned about stability and app compatibility.
Or
Should I just stick to a GB rom?
Your feedback would be greatly appreciated
well obviously GB for now are more stable than ICS but now i am using insertcoin 4.6.1 and it is running great...if you want to be sure flash GB
I too am wondering if the ICS builds are a daily driver that can be trusted, and if so which one is favored by the community? I love the ICS on my prime but I don't know how it will go on my sensation . I came back to the sensation for ICS as I like the functionality of it. I left the gs2 because touchwiz just ruined any version of Android in my opinion,
I recently installed the ICS around 5 days ago. I'm using ARHD 6.3.0 and its working great. I haven't noticed any major bugs whatsoever, and I've only had minor problems with wifi-calling.
I'd say go for ICS. You'll be better off with ICS sooner or later anyways.
I used the Darkforest rom for weeks and never had an issue. The only reason I'm not using it now is because I've flashed the 'official' beta ICS from the HTC Elevate test. That is available on the Insertcoin website for download, if you want semi official and very stable then this is it!
I stuck with GB roms for a few weeks after getting my XE purely for the stability reason, but ive been running a few ICS roms and found ARHD, InsertCoin and Elegancia to be pretty safe bets for daily use if you like Sense. But if you're after a stable AOSP experience theres always Virtuous Inquisition which ive used for about a week at work with no problems.
For the last few weeks I've been using Insert Coin and never experienced any problems whatsoever. No force closes on anything, no reboots, no lag. I'm no dev but in my experience it's smoother and every bit as stable as Gingerbread.
Go for it!
Thank you everyone...ICS it is...now to which one....haha
I think the consensus have been ARDH vs Insert Coin.
Of those 2..which offers the stability..and customization of themes etc?
I have tried both ARHD and IC. I started with ARHD but the lag was a bit much. I switched to IC and have not looked back. I am not sure about themes but for stability and speed its IC for me

Purely a personal choice, Virtuous Inquisition as it offers an ICS AOSP feel. Get the 1.27.1100 HBOOT and you're sorted.
GB will be dead in the water soon so won't be a realistic option.
EDIT: I meant to add that ICS and the updated firmware seems to give better battery life.
Try Virtuous Inquisition 3.5 ICS. Bettery battery life than GB, good stability, can be used as daily driver. Only minor bugs. IMHO hybrid aosp is far better than pure Sense. Better for RAM and more delicate for battery Virtuous Inquisition has HTC camera and stock HTC music player with ability to be used with beats audio (this needs seperate update package).
What's more, this ROM doesn't have annoying desensed bugs like power saving mode under 20% of battery and fast boot.
VI 3.5.0 and don't look back.

[Q] Best Sense 4.0 rom so far?

So now that we have multiple roms based on Sense 4.0, which one is the best for you and why?
As for me I am still waiting the next step for fixes
"Best" is simply not to tell.
What works great is Kings Rom. Tried all 4.0 Sense-Roms til now. Virtuos was the first rom I flashed and a lot of things worked great, but BT with headset didn't work. That seems to work with Kings rom. Also tried Elegancia as I am using Elegancia roms since I rooted and s-off'ed my phone.
Til now all sense 4.0 roms seem to have some difficulties. Mostly animations won't work and on some BT won't do.
Til problems are solved, I'll revert to sense 3.6
Now all based sense 4 are the same and they have same problem.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
In terms of speed and stability?
Are same till now ..
If you're looking for speed and stability, don't go with any of them. Even the One S version is for a phone with an S4 processor, we have an S3. Unfortunately, while the S3 is still powerful, the S4 has many improvements from what I hear. Sense 4 roms may never be as fast as 3.6 or AOSP-like roms.
So now we have 3 main roms:
-Baadnewz
-Shnizlon
-Virtuous
I want to choose between Baad beta 10 and Shnizlon 1.6.0
Help!
There can't be no good ROM for now, cause the source for Sense 4.0 just been out for a few days. I'll wait for some more stable versions.
I think after trying all of the Sense 4.0 roms, Virtuous S4X is probably the best.
I am on Baadnewz beta 10 (perhaps upgrading to 12) and I am very happy!
Everything work, fast enough and very little bugs.
Only Rootexplorer is not working as app
BT is not working of course. I wonder if they will make it work one day, it's a BT 4.0 and Sensation is 3.0

They're not really working on it yet. The Sensation is in their second wave of devices that they're seriously focusing on.
Team Venom
I've searched this web for quite a while, and the Viper3D is by far the best 4.0 sense ICS out there. I have no issues, and the simple little quirks that it did have are solved. Wonderful daily rom, constant updates with a little humor and I've flashed each and every one of them including the multies. Everything works, tweaks are fabulous, I have no complaints and it has been my daily driver for quite a while and don't see my self changing it.
Anything Virus is included in, I'm following, and with the well established and newly named Venom team? They are setting it off!!!!

So as far as I can tell sense 4.0 will not becoming to the Sensation via HTC and from reading these boards I notice that some of the Developers out there have begun porting sense 4.0 into ROM's which can be used on the Sensation
My question is which ROM is the most stable and bug free and closest to the stock HTC One which has sense 4.0 and can be used on the Sensation?
Thank you for any help and advice given

There is no right answer to this, no two Sensations are exactly the same and in terms of ROM'S, radio's, kernal's and so on opinions WILL vary. The ports are getting better but that tends to happen with time. Best advise we can give you is try them for yourself and decide. Its your phone, use whats best for you. Getting off my soapbox now, I thought Virtuous was pretty good but when back to ARHD until ports are better.

ARHD isn't a Sense 4.0 ROM, it's Sense 3.6, and Virtuous Inquisition isn't Sense 4.0, it's a de-sensed ROM from Sense 3.6 but still contains Sense libs and camera.

The most stable out of the Sense 4.0 ROMs is Ordroid, others simply haven't caught up to it yet. Virtuous has started one but it will be a wait before it catches up to Ordroid - Ordroid was established before most of the other Sense 4.0 ROMs so that will probably be the most stable and bug free, not to mention closest to the One Series. Elegancia 4.0 has a differently themed status bar, so it isn't stock.

Thanks, I'm well aware that my dialy driver ARHD is a sense 3.6, however heres the title of what I was referring to [X Series] Virtuous S4V Alpha3 [Sense 4.0 Android 4.0.3], link is below and as you can clearly see its a SENSE 4.0. I would not refer to a AOSP ROM when the OP is clearly asking about 4.0.

OrDroid is the best Sense 4 ROM. It gets updated everyday, literally, everyday. It does have a few bugs but as far as random reboots and crashes, none of those. It's very stable I use it as my daily driver.
Is it stable enough to use it every Day, also for working? Is the performance Like on Sense 3.6? I'm asking cause I was that silly to download the update to ics -> I'm s-on. need to wait for juopunutbear tool to test it myself. :banghead:

VI is not an AOSP ROM. It is a de-sensed ROM, which looks like AOSP. However, it is based on Sense 3.6 and contains many of the libs still there. A true AOSP ROM is compiled from scratch or based on the CM9/AOKP source.
Otherwise, Ordroid is much more established than S4V.
As mentoined above OrDroid is an excellent Sense-4 rom with a helpful dev-team. There is also InsertCoin which is as stsble and fast as OrDroid. Both roms auto loads your apps from Play Store after flashing.Very convenient for a flashaholic like myself.

I've just flashed my phone with 2 sense 4 roms. first with Blue Sense. looks fine but it tweaked a lot and and with the DX, sometimes it's just confusing.
With OrDroid, everything seems to be work fine even some says they unable to pair with other device, but I managed to get my phone paired with my laptop..
I wanted to go on and try other sense 4 roms but seems to me, I will stick with OrDroid for a while until there is complete bug free rom released.

Don't forget the following non-functioning items:
- wifi hot spot
- HTC Watch (can not watch rented movies)
- camera bugs (face detection, HDR)
It is a great ROM, but still has a ways to go to get out of beta. I love it but cannot use it as a daily ROM because of the bugs. Of course all the Sense 4 ROMs have these bugs.

Run each and decide which you prefer?
I used ARHD when I first rooted my phone. Loved it, but once Sense 4.0 came out, never switched back to ARHD. OrDroid is what I've been running for a while and I love it. Good support and great ROM. Stick with OrDroid.
I would recommend Elegencia. Very clean ROM. See my sig. Otherwise, ARHD is also solid.
They are the 2 ROMe I've been running recently. On ARHD T-Mob right now, Rosie is definitely smoother, swiping away apps is smoother, but notification pulldown and settings menu are slower. OrDroid 7.1.3 Rosie isn't as smooth (and probably won't be for a while), but the pulldown is instant, and I would argue that Sense 4 is better overall than 3.6. I'm personally going back to Sense 4, but ill probably try one other than OrDroid.

ARHD was the first ROM I flashed, but I just like sense 4. OrDroid is my best choice. The ROM gets updates in just a number of days. Also its now better than ever and I haven't really faced major issues. Both ROMs are good performance wise. No lags and all. It's up to you if you like Sense 3.6 or 4.0. Both ROMs should work well.

Both of them I used for a certain while,I like OrDriod because its GUI is awesome.
You really can't go wrong with ARHD. I think that the overall look of sense 3.6 is MUCH better. The clock on Sense 4 is kinda ugly, and the dock is like a throwback to gingerbread...
Also, the stability on a sense 3.6 rom is probably just better than a sense 4 rom.
i used both and preferred arhd because hdmi output is important for me. but when the hdmi problem solved for sense 4 roms i'm going to return ordroid. because sense 4 is more smoother than sense 3.6
arhd has no/any bugs. "everything" , i mean everything that come to your mind working perfectly, stable. but sense 4.0 looks amazing, ordroid work %95 perfect.
if you want stock look, choose arhd. if you want better look, choose ordroid. both roms are perfect.
For me, it's function over appearance - always. Sense 4 looks nice but it's still slower than Sense 3.6, though not by much.
OrDroid 8.2 (Sense 4.0) FTW! I have never experienced a better Rom than this one. Plus it gives you extremely quick and smooth Sense 4.0. I had my doubts before flashing it, as I was concerned about the performance of Sense 4.0, but it blew me away! I would recommend everyone to flash this ROM!

I think the dock on OrDroid is such an eyesore.
I used ADHD for months and it was solid. Recently I have noticed several bugs. It looks like mike1986 has a One X, so sensation support may dewindle.

I'm currently running Bruce's CM10. It is quite stable, and super smooth.
The answer depends on what you want to do. If you want to keep Sense elements like the camera and some apps that came stock with the phone then you'll want to have a true de'sensed ROM like HyperNonsense or ARHD (with the desensing script run during install from 4EXT recovery, otherwise ARHD will still look like Sense)
Both will get you the pure Android look and feel. ARHD will do it with a lot of tweaks that make it run better. HyperNonsense will do it and give you just enough to boot the device to allow you to customize it with the apps you want.
However, both are still 'sense' at their core. They just don't look it.
On the other hand if you want to completely leave Sense and have a lot more flexibility you can go the Cyanogen route. Both CM9 and CM10 are pure Android with no Sense elements. They are much more customizable with both system tweaks and graphical tweaks (like UI theming). But some Sense based apps won't work on them.
If you want to go that route there are difference between 9 and 10. 9 is ICS and is more complete with working Wifi Calling available. 10 is Jelly Bean and a lot smoother and faster, but still has some bugs being worked out and wifi calling does not work with it (yet)
