[Q] Audioplayer with ablility to configure bluetooth headset keys actions - General Questions and Answers

OS: Android
Hi! I'm looking for a Free Android audioplayer, that allows to customize actions to be performed on BT headset keys pressing. E.g. I need to seek the track forward instead of jumping to next, if I pressed Next button. I've found one app, but it works not perfectly: forgets my settings at the next launch.

Thanks for your reply, but I could not find Force Buttons on google play. Though I found Mixzing and installed it, it seems to have no BT keys bindings options. At least I failed to find it. What I did found is Headset and Buttons option, but there is nothing interesting for me there.

Then try the free version of Headset Droid, though features are more limited there. With switching the headset functions that deep no music player has it inbuilt, sorry,at least to my knowledge,a separate app must support your player.
EDIT: Try Jays Headset Control too, apparently it'll work even with non Jays earbuds

Tried Headset droid tool. I was surprised that there are standalone headset controllers application. I always thought that it is a player task to listen to keys events. Unfortunately Headset droid seems to work only with wired headset, not bluetooth, but I definitely will search for a tool like that.

Think maybe force control will suffice,it uses the proximity sensors to skip songs.

No, the point is to get advanced control over bluetooth headset. The Astro Player is the only player I have found so far which allows to do so. But I do not like it much.

Didn't keep it either, I'm out of ideas now. Did you test the Jays app?
Sent from my U8150 using XDA

Actually I didn't. Because of the description, which says, that the app is designed for one-button remote earphones. But if you're still thinking it is worth testing, I'll test it a bit later (I have no headset with me to test right now).

Installed Jays. It behaves as description declares and works only with one button. And it seems even that button cannot be the one on the bluetooth headset. Well it looks like using Astro player is the only solution for the moment.

Maybe they'll update the interface. You never know ... at least one works.

[Q] Change music tracks through headset remote controls?

Anyone know of a compatible headset where the 'next/previous' buttons can control the music player on the i9000?
My nokia TV-out cable works for TV output, so tried my Nokia headset (WH-701) that has music playback controls on it in the hope that works too, but only the call answer button works. I got the stock android lockscreen, so no longer have the touchwiz pull-down music controls on the lockscreen, so it would be handy to be able to change tracks from the earphone wire.
Tried searching for appropriate keywords in the forum but didn't see anything about this.
Thanks
it can easily be done on the bluetooth headset
no idea about the wired ones
I see would prefer weird ones, but might have to look into the bluetooth types. Is there any bluetooth headset you use or can recommend?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I've been wondering about this too. The lack of control through the headset is the only thing that is keeping me from selling my iPod.
NOKIA BH-503 work like a charm, it is a wonderful headset with excellent bass, gives you like a surround effect, somtimes i flet like it was 5.1

there are a lot that i can recommend actually, it just depends on your preference and quality.
if you don't care much about Brand names, then there are a lot of good ones for cheap on DX extreme site.
if you want specific brand names they go for a lot for the good ones.
other things to consider are portability, longevity of the battery, sound quality, capable of answering the phone or not, etc

Cool, will look into Deal Xtreme.

with MixZing player u can use the included galaxy i9000 headset to change music tracks and play/pause.
- one click: play
- another click: pause
- two fast clicks: next song
The built-in Music Player app doesn't respond to the standard Bluetooth AVRCP headset control buttons. Most other music player apps will (I use Cubed).
If you want to use your own (wired) headphones through Bluetooth you may want to check this (or similar items) out: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8422
Could be useful if you already got a fairly expensive set of 'phones and don't feel like spending even more on a Bluetooth headset. Just a $13 bluetooth receiver that you plug your headphones into.
Might order one myself as the lack of buttons is a big reason for me refraining from replacing my MP3 player with my SGS (the others being the sound quality and battery life - I'm curious what the receiver would do to those two as well).
I used MUSIC MOD free from market. Its like Music Player on steroids. Double fast tap on mic button for next track . 1 tap for stop. Most 3rd party music players also support headset buttons. Just not stock player
For the OP:
I have a DXJG4 and run the stock music player with it. All my bluetooth stereo headsets have full avrcp support (play, pause, ff and rew). I use the Nokia BH-503, Philipps SB9000 and recently the Backbeat 906. All buttons work. And during testing a couple more BT headsets, all the buttons work.
However, recently I found out the BT in my phone "forgets" some headsets. And when they attempt to connect, they are either not in the list or connect using the Phone profile only (Media profile is not ticked).

I think I share your reservations about how it would affect the SGS's already not-too impressive audio quality.

Thanks for the advice! I think I might as well upgrade to bluetooth ones seeing as they are generally less hassle with no tangled wires etc! (downside is you need to keep them charged). Had a look at the BH503 but I'd prefer in-ear bud type earphones - hopefully there are bluetooth types somewhere!
I use the Jabra BT3030. Looks like a dogtag, but you can use your own headphones which is awesome, and all the controls work and it has a built in mic for handsfree calling. I have used a few bluetooth stereo headsets and this one is by far my favourite.
I just purchase the DR-BT 101 by sony,
and it works fine on the sgs default music player, as well as video player.
Been using it for 4 days so far, trouble free.
If u leave the bluetooth on your phone on, and close the music player, and press the ''on'' button on the dr-bt101, it will automatically turn on the music player by default, so long as it was the last bluetooth item you paired it with (eg if you were using a pc before this, it will pair with the pc if the pc program you used to pair it on is turned on)
Just a warning if you plan to use it on your pc as well, it has some problems with windows 7 64 bit. I used blue soleil drivers and that settled it.
also works with skype on both SGS and pc
I wouldn't mind posting a small review on the headphones if anyones interested
these samsung headsets work with the stock music player in froyo..
didnt work in eclair
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320553841349&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
one hit to button pauses , another resumes, and two hits skip forward a song
The standard headset (provided by the Samsung with SGS) is capable of changing music tracks through headset remote controls but for this you need a Power Amp Music Player which is available on Android Market.
Here is function which you can use with your regular Samsung provided standard headset
1 press: pause
2 press: next song
3 press: previous song
Why is everyone saying you need a special app to do these controls. The double click method works with the basic music player.

I believe the eariler posts were when the Galaxy S was in the 2.1 Eclair days. Now with the advent of 2.2 Froyo and 2.2.1 it seems Samsung have added this functionality only recently in the new firmwares.

[Q] Beats and Skyrocket

So I have the Beats tour w/ Control talk. Whenever I plug it in my skyrocket it always lowers the volume to 0 gradually. Does anyone with beats headphones experiencing the same thing?
One more thing, on all my iPhones, I was able to skip songs by double tapping the mic key on the headphones. This doesn't work with the included headset & my beats. Only plays/pauses. Is that normal?
Control talk only works with iOS products. It will play/pause on android, but that's it. I have beats solo HD and have not experienced the volume issue. The audio output from our phone isn't great to begin with, so I have the Equalizer app, which does a nice job of making the audio sound better.

That sucks. What headphones have the same functionality as the iPhone headphones on android devices?
If you use the music playerpro music player it had the ability to change settings to allow play/pause skip forward/skip back with the control talk controller (I use the solo hd's), also is has a downloadable dsp pack that makes the eq function in the player superb there is a 5 or 7 day trial in the app store give it a shot set it up. I personally don't see using another music player since finding it,I delete all the players now in roms. Hope it works for you

I was looking all over for this info for my beats...thanks!
Such a shame that you cant use the control on the mic to skip, rewind songs. Having to take out the phone after every other song is a HUGE hassle especially when you're on the move. Glad I kept my regular iPod, I definitely miss this feature on my iPhone 4.

There's an app called "headset Button Controller" out there that you could try, see if that helps. Not sure the volume up/down can be considered as "buttons" with this app though, if so then it should work. You should be able to configure the app so a long press on button 1 for example increases the volume (if button 1 can = volume up or down button on the control talk clicker...).
You can try it for free - I would post a link but I'm new so I'm not allowed...

Headset button controller app?

Is there a headset button control app for Galaxy Note? The stock controls only allow play/pause and next song..
I've had an iPhone 3gs a long time ago, and every android device i've used so far lacks the headset control that apple offers.
Is there an app which allows previous/next song, forward/rewind, play/pause?
I'm using this app with their headset. Someone mentioned it works with other single buttoned headsets. So Give it a try...

If you are talking about single-button headsets, did your stock Note headsets came without the volume buttons or you are just not counting them and only referring to the pause/play button?

this doesn't really answer your question, but if you haven't yet purchased a headset, all of the A2DP bluetooth headset controls work just fine on my MW600
The application mentioned solved my problem. It works without any errors and very smooth.
I'm using the original headset with one button and 2 buttons for volume.
Without the app I can't select previous tracks etc

I am using samsung Gt-s5300(rooted) and Cellularline Audio Pro Fly bluetooth headphones set. The headset buttons are working fine for music, but i can`t voicecall. I installed Cyberon Voice Speed Dial 1.2.15 which has options to voice call when i hold-press headset button but is not working. I tried Jays and Headset Button controlle but none are working also showing no commands in debug mode. I do not have inertnet access on the phone anywhere near. I guess the problem in headset not recognising the apk HS controls is because its disigned for apple devices and phone doesn`t have id tags or voice commands in contacts by itself. This is my first smart phone so any help is welcome. Voice recongision of Cyberon Speed Dial is working fine but i need a way to launch the application using the headset.
p.s ok after i tried lots of app i managed to add open app function to headset using Jays Headset 3 keys settings. It doesnt work with the folder music player i use but it works when folderplayer is not open or with regular music player so my problem is solved for now and i can 1click then voice dialer opens so i can voice dial without touching the phone.
No 1 headset app for Android by far.
Found this review, it explains this free (+ ad free as well) app better than I can, I just use it

Headset for Music Controls

Anyone found an iPhone type in the ear headset with volume and track control for Google Music streaming to work on the One X?
If I use the iPhone headset or any button headset on the One X when I double click the song track does advance, but the One X also redials my last call at the same time.
So looking for a Google Music control headset.
Thanks

Look for some made for Android and they will work. The iPhone ones will work but you have to download a program and reassign the controls.
I personally just got a pair of ibeats like above said. It works 100% and matches lol.
Try the marketplace. A lot of Rezound owners will sell their ibeats separately.

When you say the controls work perfect does the volume up and down buttons work for you?
Now that we've got root (the Rogers users anyway,) I plan on doing some work towards this end. I've got some nice Denon earbuds, but they're designed for the iPhone, and thus the volume buttons do nothing. The middle button works fine as play/pause, but as the OP states, double-clicking redials, and a long-press pulls up Cyberon Voice Commander (not sure if this is present in the AT&T model.)
I fixed the long-press thing before by simply disabling Cyberon, however, I'd rather implement proper control over what the headset does.
The bad news is that logcat doesn't actually log the pressing of the buttons, only the results of the buttons being pressed. So, when I press the volume keys, I get no information at all. I don't have much time to work on this now, but hopefully on the weekend I'll find some time to dig into the Android source and find where the remote media buttons are defined.
Excellent this sounds great.
From what i have seen for remote apps on the Play store in the descriptions developers have said that it is an OS limitation. That the OS doesn't detect clicks from the volume buttons. craig0r what you said seems to confirm what I had previously found.
But please look into it and it would be great if you can find a fix. You could definitely make some good money if you made it an app and published it in the Play store
I came across a free app called Jays Headset, I emailed the guy and he got right back to me.
It works great with Google Music and my iPhone headset, though not the actual volume buttons on the headset. Works with any headset it seems.
Did I mention it was FREE

At the very lowest level, the OS must detect the clicks. It will certainly require root , as I'm sure I'll have dig into the linux HID system. It might even require a modified driver, at which point I'll probably give up since I've never made drivers before I don't see this being worth the effort.
I would actually love it if I could use the volume buttons for volume, but my hopes right now are that I can get the volume buttons to emulate the skip/search buttons on android earphones, like the ones HTC used to include. (Speaking of which, wtf is up with no included headphones?? I knew we were gonna get Beats headphones, but come on.)
Oh, and I'd likely provide the app for free. It's not going to be pretty, it will require root, and it's something I feel should be included in the OS anyway, so I don't think it'd be fair to charge for it.

Headset Button controls on Android?

Just wondering if there is some kind of software hack or mod that allows the volume buttons on headsets/earphones to work correctly. I know that with some players like Poweramp have the middle mic button working with single, double, and triple click. I know the volume buttons work on iOS devices so shouldn't there be a way to make it work with android?

And tactile player ( sorry I said something else before, it doesn't even exist) isn't a music player.
It's just an app used to skip tracks using volume rockers.

Poweramp has the functionality to skip tracks using the volume rockers on the phone already built in so no need for an app.

Hi
You will normally not get a pair of iPhone 3 button earphones work with an Android phone as the jacket technogies differ and so does its mic.
To make it work you need a.) appropriate earphones and b.) the software. A few makers has both

Dont mention it. I use this app daily going to work and going home, it really works. Ive tried many headset apps and this is the best by far (and its 100% free).
Edit: added a screenshot. When connecting the headset I made my musicplayer start up automatically. Really neat as then I dont need to pull our the phone starting the music while on the go. Helps alot.
