Hi ,
I Have a very good idea for an app that is rather simple but very useful. It involves simply a Specific picture which you can zoom and pan around then there are a few text boxes I want included in the app to search.
For example , A route finder that is already on the internet. You enter the details on the box on the computer then the results come up. But i want the boxes off the website and instead linked to my app , then the results appear on my app. So a search function is possible via the application.
The problem is I am a total newbie to codes etc and haven't got a clue where to start in the least. The app is very simple and an experienced person could create it in know time but I am a newbie and willing to learn to create some useful apps to put on the market free for all to share.
Thanks

Have a look at the Android Developers website
Hi ,
Thanks for that , I've had a look but it is so so confusing :S
Oh yes , and if it counts I'm going to be using windows vista to create the app?? Is there possibly a beginners guide to creating these apps or what??
Oh yes and I have now got one part sorted (sort of) , I will use the image viewer already on the phone to allow the scrolling and zoom of the image.
Anyone got an idea how long it would approximately take to create such an app??
I did do a search on this and found other similar questions but no real answers, so if you have seen this answered before feel free to "linky dinky" thanks!!
so when I go to "share via" a pic I get options, too many.... really I only need FB, email. and MMS, is there a way to trim this down? right now I get 2 FB, twitter, BT many more etc., I just don't need them all.... this should be my fist post here, hope I came across ok!!!

Best answer I could find, and it makes sense:
This isn't possible from an OS level. That share menu is populated by Android based on what apps you've installed declare they can open. You can look at the technical details here, but the end result is that without extra coding from each individual app to filter the results, you are always going to get the full list in whatever order Android returns them in.

http://android.stackexchange.com/questions/8112/is-there-a-way-to-edit-the-share-menu
Basically in the apps code somewhere it states that it has the ability to use the Share function, so it's automatically added. Without removing the code or removing the app altogether, Android sees the app and adds it. Might be something someone a lot smarter than myself would be able to write an app that manipulates this somehow. But from what I'm seeing it hasn't been done.
thanks man, its ok if just cant be done, everything has limitations...
Would it be possible to have a separate share app that lets you add options (like "SMS to Bob") as well as hide some of the defaults? That app itself could be registered as a "sharing" app (maybe sorting to the top of the list?) or could be launched individually. So a process flow could be to launch this share app, load up the gallery, choose the photo, choose the destination. And that process would be just as convenient as launching the gallery, choosing the photo, selecting to share, and selecting the destination. Same number of steps.
JB Default Share Menu
Does anyone else seem to have a problem with this, or is it just me.
Not nearly as many apps are available to choose from, when you click share. (Stock)
And about 50+% of the time. The app you want to share to isn't an option to choose from
I've downloaded an app that helps a lil called Andmade Share, Which will show a different pop up menu with pretty much all apps available to share too.
The only problem is. Even after choosing default for Andmade Share and not Android System. The stock JB Share Menu will still show up, especially the time when you dont want it too. (Cause the app you want to share to isnt available)
Am I doing something wrong, or anyway to fix this
You Will Be Thanked Accordingly
And Appreciated
What is it that you want to share?
If you are talking about sharing the APK files, you can use File Manager HD from Play Store.
Just browse to the directory and long press the file name and click share. You will find a lot of options like dropbox, email bluetooth etc.

no like say ur on chrome which doesn't have flash.so if you want to watch a flash video. you have to share to a diff browser or video player that supports flash. well the share menu never shows me all my options. and normally the video player i want to share to isn't a choose.
not only chrome either.. this is just one example of where i came across this issue.
2014/10/23 official beta version is now on www.snappea.com/windows :good:
We've fixed most bugs you guys mentioned in the comments (thanks for that!), and we're gathering feature requests now, please feel free to request!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi guys,
I'm from SnapPea, an Android PC manager. We first made SnapPea back in 2012, it was not a huge success. But we've made tremendous changes and improvements now. The new SnapPea is still under development, but we'd love to hear feedback from geeky (and sometimes mean) Android users here at XDA. And we are willing to give away a $50 amazon gift card for the one who finds out the most bugs - this is not a reward for contest, this is a truly Thank You for helping us.
Ok, cut the crap. Let me show you some numbers! We've compared SnapPea with another PC manager - MoboGenie which seems to be very popular recently, and as you know, we outperformed it, of course
Package size
The package size for SnapPea is only 4.5MB
The package size for Mobogenie is 30.4MB
Installation time
It takes only 2.94s to install SnapPea on your PC (here is a video to prove)
It takes 6.87s to install Mobogenie
Photo loading time (tested on a phone with 2000+ photos)
SnapPea takes 1.25s to load pictures
Mobogenie takes 8.16s
×a word here: we have made improvement to the logic of content loading, which means the photos won't be necessarily loading from the top to the bottom, instead, we load where your eyes are at first
Contacts loading time (tested on a phone with 3000+ contacts)
SnapPea takes 1.48s to load pictures
Mobogenie takes 57.75s
Memory usage
SnapPea uses only 70MB when in use and 24.7MB when not
Mobogenie uses up to 146MB when in use and 70MB when not
As windows users, you must know how it sucks when some software takes too much memory...
Enough for the numbers (sorry, can't help, too proud), if you do not know what a PC manager is. Here what it does:
Manage your contacts - import, export, edit, grouping etc
Text messages - send sms on PC
Manage your apps - install apks, will add export later
Manage your photos - import, export, delete, set as wallpaper etc
SD card manager - we have beautiful SD card manager interface!!!
Music&Video - import and export
Anyway, we understand that it is far from PERFECT, but we are willing to make it PERFECT. So if you're willing to help or simply criticize, you have all our ears. Bugs, wrong spellings, feature requests, anything is welcome! And we will answer EVERY question here and take EVERY suggestion seriously.

Dear Snappea Dev,
I've been using snappea since the start of 2013 and I've always been (almost 100%) satisfied. I'do sure want to test your betá version, but I am not great at finding bugs. Anyways, I wanted to say thank you for this application and I wish you and your team goodluck and happiness. I will subscribe to this thread to keep myself updated...
Well, enough said. Time to install now... :victory:
Have a great day!
Kind regards,
~ Sam

Ehm, I guess I won't be persuasive enough... since it's in beta, so we haven't put it on our website yet, but you can take a look at our current product (the old version), or check out some news about us. We come in piece
It‘s really beautiful, but can it be used in platforms other than Windows? Such as Mac or Web page.

Hi Sam, I'm sorry I forgot to mention that if you've already installed SnapPea on your PC, you will have to uninstall it first then install the beta version sorry about that!
Thanks SnapPea dev. I'm a big fan of your software. It's really cool.
I'm a Android developer. I'd love to use SnapPea to get the phone screenshots , and to install the apk file to the phone. Of course I can use adb to do the same thing, but SnapPea is really beautiful and fast, I dont want to use the DOS console anymore LOL.
Sorry I'm not good at find bugs. May I ask for a new feature that can uninstall the system apk on my rooted phone?

Hi Cowboy, of course you can. And I've added this to our feature request lists, will make sure to take it into consideration :fingers-crossed:
Dear SnapPea dev,
I think I found a bug. I have changed my luanguage in the settings sections, but it still gives me (chinese?) characters...
And the music section does not display my music very well, and it won't stream any music
Anyways.. It has a nice and clean UI, I really like that. Photo's sync very well and fast!
Have a nice day.

For some reason I cannot install APK-files using SnapPea... Could that be because I am on KitKat?
Hi
I should say i love this app and using it as my primary program for my work.. I used your app for about 1 year and still using it without any issue.
I just installed and used the beta version but just noticed that it has less functionality than the version 2.7 and also there is some bugs i found.
First one is the big one.. It cant even install apk files. Second one is, it cant show the device screen to capture screenshots like previous version.
there's so much it doesn't have compared to the latest stable version.
My main reason for this post is that i have a request for your team to make a new feature to the this very cool program.
My request is a simple drag n drop to install apk's and import photo & music & videos. it will save me SO MUCH time and makes using the app so much easy and enjoyable. also boosts the jobs i do with this program.
Thank you and wish you guys all the best

Hi Sam, thanks for testing out the new SnapPea! I'm gonna mark these down as 3 bugs you found:good::good:
So,
Language appears in Chinese
Noted! We have uploaded these strings for translation, will be ready very soon
Music section doesn't display well, can't stream
1) I will need a screenshot of the display issue, you mean the format or layout or something else?
2) Does SnapPea fail to stream any song or just a few? Because we use Windows Media Player, if the music format is not supported by WMP, SnapPea can't stream it either...
Can't install apk
Can you be more specific? Did the install fail? What was the error message? A screenshot will help too:victory:
Thanks thanks thanks you are awesome

Hi DanteMayCryM, thanks :good: I'll mark 2 bugs and 1 feature request down for you
Can't install apk files
Seems like you have the same issue as Sam. Hmm.. there actually can be various reasons for this, such as if the file transfer was successful, or if SnapPea has the permission to install apks. You can try use the SD card manager to see if you can import of export files using SD card manager (which supports drag-and drop!!!)?
Doesn't show device screen
Actually I just used to SnapPea to take a screenshot, so I'm sure what went wrong here.. Did you make sure that your phone screen is on? Otherwise SnapPea will show only a black screen. It would be great if you can provide me more information here
Drag-and-drop
We actually received this feature request a lot of times, we didn't have the time and manpower to do it for the PIM tools (photos, videos &music), but drag-and-drop now works in SD card manager. The new SD card manager is so much better than the last one Anyway, we will try to add this feature very soon, ok?
Don't forget to get me the screenshots!

The player won't load [all] tags, says the song is only 00:00 long etc (look at screen#1)
Also, it gets stuck at loading the songs. Even the correct loaded ones.
Snappea loads the APK, sets to install and immediatly says it couldnt install, and after a second or 2 is force closes (screen#2)
Hope I could help!

I'm willing to give a this a go on my home pc to manage my android devices. I have a few questions tho.
Is it possible to backup messages? And import afterwards? Same for contacts? And apps? Sorry I haven't installed yet, if these features (or some) aren't implemented, are you guys considering it ?
And then, I'd like to help (besides bug finding) with translations. Do you need translations? I can do for Portuguese (PT-Pt).
Let me know
Thanks guys, great app, I wish you all the best of luck! Mobogenie for me is a bit of adaware/spyware thing, many times it downloads itself from a few websites, IMO, this is a shi*ty behaviour. So I hardly consider it a decent manager :b

Hi MidnightDevil (cool name!),
Yes yes yes we can backup messages! To be more specifically, our back&restore feature is still under development, but you can use SnapPea to export/import contacts and messages, can't do apps at the moment, but it is definitely a must-do!
We actually do provide Portuguese version You can change the language in the settings! But we used a translation company to do that, I'm sure they're not all correct, if you can spot some mis-spellings or wrong translations, do let me know! :highfive:
