Is there a way to get better sound quality when using custom roms? - T-Mobile LG G2x

When ever i use a custom rom the sound quality isnt like the stock rom? I always have dts enabled when playing music and it sounds great, but i dont have the option when using hellfire or cyanogen. So i guess im asking if there is a way to improve my sound?

I know huh! Barely got this phone yesterday o. Stock and it sounds better. Any help??

you could try downloading and flashing beats audio. make sure you back up because thats the only way to revert

I never use the Stock music player. Use Power Amp from the market place. You can increase the base and treble for amazing sound quality. It's a 1 or 2 week trial after that you'll have to buy it. I Highly recommend getting Power Amp.

I tried it and it might have only affected the headphone sound, but I can barely hear a difference.
p.s I am currently running Hellfire ice cream sandwich.

Sound issues after rooting and installing a ROM

So, why exactly does this phone have crappy sound after rooting and installing a ROM?
What file causes it, and is there a way to fix it?
I'd install a stock ROM that's been rooted as long as wifi tether and HSUPA were enabled, but that doesn't look like it's gonna happen.
Right now I'm using attn1's with the audio fix and it's not bad, but not as good as stock.
I suspect a different sound driver or maybe even a filter may be present in inspire stock rom. I'm sure it will be found.

I hope it's found soon, cause there are a lot of great roms there, but with awful audio.
I agree, I'm getting used to the tinny sound though and it doesn't seem to be as bad for me on bluetooth in the car. I'll take gingerbread with tinny sound over no gingerbread at all any day.

I didn't install gingerbread, running a Froyo Rom. Don't want to lose Sense.

[Q] DTS Ultra Mobile

from t-mobile's specs on the phone it mentions:
"DTS Ultra Mobile™, which includes two innovative audio technologies – DTS Envelo™ and DTS Boost™ – for a premium surround sound experience. When listening to music or playing games on the T-Mobile G2x, customers will enjoy rich, enhanced sound that adds depth, dimension and volume levels that are robust without distortion."
so this is just something built in? anyway to control it? i did not see it anywhere in menus or apps or processes. hmmm
Yep, there's a button in the music player to turn it on while you are listening to music. meh, i guess it works, nothing amazing.
Is there any way to use in spotify or any other app for the matter? Or is it only possible to use it in the default music player?

It works well! There's a major difference in the loudness when you turn it on. Turn it off, and it gets much quieter.

No, it's only in the stock music and video players that you can utilize it, at least for the time being.

True. I haven't tried it on WinAmp's player yet, but it is not accessible through Power Amp. I will say though, with Power Amp EQ settings, my music sounded awesome through the device, good enough to stop carrying my iPod touch.
I have cm7 on mine, is there anyway to get the dts to work again? If not is there a way to put the stock player back on it and still have cm7?
same boat as you, would love the LG Video Player in CM7

been wondering about this forever. only thing that i don't like about CM7 and EB is the lack of the LG Video Player, audio player i could care less about but the video player i like
add me to the list of those wanting this for the CM7 GB roms
The DSP Manager app in cm7 and associated GB roms blows away the dts function.
But can I get the left speaker working with that?

That's a microphone.
still not the video player though. no thumbnails of videos w/the cm7 stock one. i messed w/the dsp manager on a few roms and i've had some off and on weirdness w/custom ringtones when using it w/the speaker at times.

No it doesn't. I've tried all presets and even did my own tinkering, doesn't match up to DTS on the stock player. I believe DTS if only available in the g2x version of this one.
Anyone have the stock music player. That's the one thing I'm missing from cm7.
you will notice a difference with headphones and dts enabled
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
yeah i really loved all the options available with DTS like turn on or turn off, it's awesome
I agree. I miss the dts function. Though CM7 has dsp options, out is not as easy as dts.. I would be happy with just mimicking the dts settings. If anyone can just figure out how dts changed the sound profile for the g2x, it would make me very happy.
You obviously haven't used a voodoo kernel yet.

Voodoo is only for headphones on our phones isnt it?..and even then it only increases volume, which is useless because volume on headphones can already go louder than nessecary..

How to fix audio problems?

For stock rom?
Awesome phone but the audio is murder!
If you could be less vague, we might be able to better help you.
don't cause audio problems ?
im wondering if there is a way to make the volume louder overall on a stock rom? It pretty much sucks compaired to previous phones I have owned. Ringtone volume is way too low, even at full blast.
Root and flash a rom w/custom kernel that has an audio boost.

Attaching a megaphone to the speaker on the back works as well.
Mainly the tinny audio and maybe a bit louder

The stock unrooted Rom shouldn't have tinny audio.

Possibly, my stock inspire was quiet, but the sound was crystal clear.

no, its common knowledge the inspire (and most HTC phones) have low poor audio. you have to install a ROM with the audio boost kernel to fix it. nothing you can do on stock ROM.
these guys were just bustin your ball pouch.
This is where I miss my iPhone 4 the audio on the inspire sucks It doesn't even sound good when connected to the aux in my truck. And I have to root the phone to fix and HTC knows this thing sucks and will not fix it wow. My last Android device at this time it just seems you have to hack these phones to make simple things perform up to par

Beats Audio For All Gingerbread ROMs

Get it here.
Just flash the .zip in recovery and you're good to go. No special app or anything to enable it, just hear the difference.

This is for all GB roms for the Galaxy Slc. This will not work on the G2x.

Yeah, anything but froyo (who cares about froyo anymore?) Or the ICS roms which actually already have legacy audio, pretty similar to beats.

Installs with no issues on Hellfire pheonix.
Noticed a big difference in the signal quality almost eliminated static.
I'm using Bose in ear buds, and I always preffered my old ****ty iPod touch for sound quality.... no more.
Feels like it upped the juice to my headphones now I'm getting big dirty sound and I can't even rock full volume ... WINNING!!
Great tweak defiantly worth the 2 mins it takes to flash!
Pin it to Win it.

Yeah! I was using my old iPhone for music until I used it as a golf ball, then I was using my 80 GB iPod classic (which I actually love) but now it's an external drive for me.
I also use Bose in ear buds, IE2 to be exact, I love them but they were quiet... until now of course.
The tweak also plays nice with voodoo sound from Trinity and DSP manager, so #WINNING

Are you using voodoo and DSP manager as well? The sound from the mixture of the three is godly.
I have no idea how to use DSPManager.. ( Idk what to enable)

Google music app
MIUI music app
etc..

If you're using Trinity kernel then voodoo is already working it's magic.
DSP manager, with compression it seems you can get louder, I don't use it though as it seems to also create some fuzziness. Bass boost does exactly what it says, and Equalizer will equal out the sound to your choice, try a few equalizers, also if you find the sound to get too loud you can check loudness compensation which will lower the volume a bit at loud parts in songs. Virtual Room makes your headset feel like a room.

So I don't need to dl any Voodoo Sound from market right?

[Q] awesome beats installed but no sound difference

I recently upgraded from stock firmware to custom firmware and installed awesome beats v3 via pimp my rom but since then i don't hear any bass boost or sound enhancement. I was able to hear presets of awesome beats and virtual room setup before very well on stock rom. I have tried flashing back stock rom but awesome beats still does not work.
I have tried music fx, volume+ etc but there presets makes no audio difference either. Please help ..
Device- galaxy note 10.1
Model number- 8013
Custom firmware- 4.1.1
This is a question would request you to post it in Q&A section.
You sound will be as good as you hardware (speakers) allows it to be so if your speakers are performing at its best no amount of software can do that much good it will make some difference though.
Its like putting make-up will that change how you look no it may improve your looks

Well the headphones i am using now are the same i used when awesome beats bass boost was working on stock firmware. I have also tried using a different pair but noo sound difference.
May be the rom is not compatible and has issues with it
maybe rom already has it or something like that pre installed and you can not notice difference because of that?
maybe it's already enhanced ?

You have to believe in the brand and Dr. Dre and if you try hard enough you will think it sounds better. That's how beats work.

I have tried almost all major brands of headphones but headphones would definitely make a difference if sound quality is either coming from amp or good sound preset system otherwise there was no need of amp or equalizer before a speaker.
