I don't know which kernel should I flash and I really don't know what is the best stable kernel out there ?? I already tested UC Kernel v9 and it seems it's not stable..
You can delete this post if you find this is as un-useful ..
Here and there, there are only a few kernels. Bck kernel/Uc kernel/vurrut kernel. Don't overclock too much, at Max about 1.2 ghz as some phones go into random reboots beyond that frequency. Currently on bck kernel beta 13, but I change kernels quite often
Cheers

I'm currently using vurrut v5 uc. It's a very good battery saver and very stable.
try BCK...dont oc though....its stable and gives good battery life

Thank you very much for anyone who replied to my post..
Jeah, my phone suddenly reboots when I overclock my phone to 1.35Ghz on UC Kernel.. Not sure why ..
Anyways, is BCK stable enough ?? I might switch to BCK.. I heard from some people that I can't use NoFrills or SetCPU to overclock, only on Terminal .. is this true ??

Very very stable. Hasn't randomly rebooted on me ever. I do make sure that cpu no frills keeps it to 1.2 ghz and below though.

Ok thank you kabayan for your time. I might try it soon hehehe
OK well bck kernel default is overclocked to 1.2ghz so you can use 1.2 ghz by setting it through no frills. However if you wish to change the frequency at each opp(meaning steppings), then use the commands given in his thread.
Cheers

Using QuikWiz with whatever kernel is included with that ROM (Da_G's, IIRC), I pretty much can't OC at all. I'm stuck at the default 1566MHz, the closest bump up at 1728 is too high and my phone crashes. I just flashed TPCv3 which also uses Da_G's kernel and came to the same result - can't OC past 1566MHz.
Firstly, is there anything I can do to make my phone stable at 1728MHz? What do you guys have your phones set to?
Quadrant/AnTuTu screenshots welcome.

Stock ROM here.. run 1728/1782 all the time.. no issues.. Don't have any screenshots, but get 3900+ quadrant, 6700+ Antu and 7800 CFbench. No sod's.. get 24+battery life .. its lovely.

The 763mhz with gpu.
801 seemed to vary, means it crashes sometimes.
This is not bad for playing purpose, but I donĀ“t recommend it for business.
Is it possible to overclock at 1.4 ghz our cpu?
I hate my galaxy, it's really laggy and slow also with Cyano9...
Sorry my device is not at all laggy at 1ghz...try a clean wipe from xxkpe

wait till the fully working cm9 comes ... ..There will be no ui lags n all after getting kernel 3.0
And cm9 is not that laggy too.try wiping cache if it does not work,do a fresh install.

Enable purging of assets, disable surface dithering, disable zRam
Edit: flashing custom cm9 kernels can also allow you to Oc, such as vurrut kernel and uc kernel for cm9

I reached 1,38Ghz without a problem and maxed the load, didn't fry yet xD
No kernel supports 1,4.. but 1,38Ghz is there and stable on some devices, so it's possible.
My sister's device didn't go past 1,35Ghz and crashed, 1,30Ghz is stable for her.
So it really depends.. safest value is 1,2Ghz.
Now back on topic, there's something wrong with your phone or something else, CM9 is currently smooth even with 1,0Ghz.

Test it yourself, run many benchmarks for extended periods of time, any restarts or extreme heat means something is wrong.

Set the CPU to whatever speed you want but dont check set on bot. If freezes or restart happens means it not okay, then lower the frequency.
Cheers

Please tell me fast I want to flash this ASAP!

please tell me ASAP... The ROM is ****ingly aweosome!
PATIENCE!
Our phone runs at 667MHz and the kernel in MIUI V4 runs at 1.2 GHz because it is overclocked kernel. If you don't want to mess up your phone by overclocking, flash this rom anyways, but then flash NON-OC kernel. I think G3MOD 2.5 NON-OC should work with it.
If you don't want to overclock your phone, you will notice some (big) lag probably with MIUI.
Kk......

First I think that this shouldent be in this section, but this is not my concern, second to answer your question, Matrix is one of the best kernels for Nexus S (my personal favorite is Marmite but still this is good), so I thinkl it's safe to say that this is not a kernel related issue but rather a owerclock one, be sure that there is a reason why Samsung clocked the procesor at 1GHz

marmite is more stable but it is not good for overclocking.
on matr1x v25.0 i couldnt overclock because i had the same problem with you. rebooting.
the only kernel i was able to overclock cpu without any reboot problem is matr1x v24.0 on 1320 mhz
now i am using marmite and i dont even try to overclock because i dont need more cpu power. it drains so much battery...
