Flashing the new V21y update.... - T-Mobile LG G2x

I'm not sure if i should've posted in the existing thread but...
I understand that i flash the new baseband, it only works with that specific firmware correct? I can't flash (for example) a gingerbread rom with the baseband? I'd have to downgrade?
My second is about the whole rom. I'm not with Tmobile (Canada). When i flashed the other update (with the july 15 baseband), the phone wouldn't boot. It would stop at the Tmobile logo. I reflashed hfp 2.0 and it worked with the new baseband though.
Will I be able to use the firmware this time around with my canadian sim card?

I found my answer in Core Memory's thread. I hadn't seen the additional info added in the edit.

[Q] Reversing Gingerbread Baseband Flash or Correct Baseband for my Provider

Good Morning,
After flashing the Gingerbread Baseband I no longer am able to register on the network for my provider.
The device is from Rogers but unlocked and being used on the Bell network.
After flashing I realized there may be a different baseband for me to use in Canada (just North of Toronto).
I require some help in locating a Gingerbread baseband that would work or provide me with instructions on how to return to the original baseband.
Any help is appreciated!
Thank you kindly,
- Audi2Audi
Did you set the APN manually? You have to do that.
Hello!
APN in Menu|Settings|Wireless & Networks|Mobile Networks|Access Point Names ?
I have set that to: pda.bell.ca
Is there other steps required though?
Thank you for the response!
apn settings is for internet. phone must tower of sim. may be flashing baseband again will soveit because i am tower getting for my country
If you're wanting to go back to stock froyo first you need to visit here to get your original rom... these will also flash the baseband back too
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1246678
or here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155874
then you will need to follow this turtorial in order to flash the stock rom back on (go down to second post that one is in English )
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1244490
Although it is a possibility that the BB hasn't flashed correctly, might be worth trying it again... might also be worth trying a froyo rom to see if you get a signal then, because if you do you still have the froyo baseband on...
Simplier to flash stock baseband using kdz tutorial in my signature.

Thanks adixtra i always forget about the tutorial of yours
You can flash a .Bin File for Your P920 or P920H.
Ok, now this is getting bizarre hah.
I reflashed the baseband again and everything went normal as it did before.
This time I searched for networks and selected my provider. After about 5 minutes of the device trying to register on the network an error was received that said it was unable to register on this network.
However, when I got to my home screen I was registered on the network. I tested a voice call and it worked. I have tested data as well.
BUT! This is where it gets even more bizarre...The device cycles from 4 signal bars to 2 signal bars to none to 3G (from H) followed by not being registered on the network. Then a few minutes later (sometimes only after a reboot) it returns to 4 bars and begins the cycle again.
Has anyone seen anything like this before?
Thank you again for your help!

Good Evening,
Would you be able to upload the KDZ file from your update?
I am having problems with the LG Phone Recovery indicating that I have the most up to date software and halting the recovery process.
Thank you!
- Audi2Audi
Hello,
I flashed an earlier KDZ which allowed me to use the LG Update tool to restore my stock rom.
Thank you everyone for your help and advice.
- Audi2Audi.
it will tell you that but if you use recovery mode and it will download the file then you will have to unplug the phone from usb hold vol+ power then plug it back into the usb and it should download. like i said i used similiar method to flashing baseband
On my windows 7 not detect omap 4 and i can't flash baseband, what can i do?

[Q] Please Help! Using 9020a on T-mobile.

I was currently using MIUI GB build from brainmaster, and I wanted to switch to the ICS after finally finding out they halted the OTA update. Well I'm using T-Mobile, and when i flashed the stock rom back, i was not able to us the 9023t stock rom as it kept giving errors. So i had to tried the 9020a (which i believe is for ATT) and that worked. My phone is able to make calls and receive texts, but it only shows that its on edge (e) and no more 3g on the status bar.
My question is, is there a way to switch the baseband back to a 9023t build? or did i always have an ATT branded phone?
edit:
This is what my phone status shows:
Carrier: Tmobile
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband: I9020AUCKF1
Kernal: 2.6.35.7-gf5f63ef
[email protected] #1
Build: GRK39F
Another update:
Just verified after pulling my battery the model states:
GT-I9020T
It seems that you have flashed an I9020A baseband on an I9020T. There have been reports that people who have done this have never been able to get 3G again.
However, you can try to follow this link and flash the KI1 baseband and see what happens.
Just out of interest... do you know anyone with an AT&T sim that you can borrow to see if you can pick up AT&T's 3G now? (you would have to make sure that then APN for att is entered and selected) It's extremely doubtful but would be interesting to know nevertheless...

I will try and flash that baseband, and will update asap. As of right now, I dont have an ATT sim card, but if i do come across one i will update as well.
Also, do you know why it happened to let me install the 9020a rom, and not the 9020t? I had to root my phone from scratch all over again to erase the MIUI rom and to try to bring it back to stock. Every time i tried to install the 9020t/9023 it kept giving me the error message:
E: Failed to verify whole-file signature
But it worked like a charm when i attempted to do it with the 9020a.
I was able to flash the KI1 baseband with no problems at all. Now with this will I be able to flash ICS?

Either flash the official OTA or an ICS ROM that doesn't contain a radio.

is it dangerous to install firmware for other carriers to my unlocked phone

Hello, i want to update my Samsung Galaxy S Plus from 2.3.5 (xxkpf) to 2.3.6 (xxkq7) but it says its for DTB (another carrier)? i have a Norwegian phone (unlocked) but is it dangerous to update, will it destroy my phone or something?
Or can i just go ahead and download. And how du i update with Odin?
-Thanks guys.
As long as you have and know how to use odin/heimdall you should be fine. I was experimenting a while back when I had my Verizon Fascinate on Sprint and I flashed the Sprint Samsung epic modem. It completely borked the entire radio, however I was able to re-flash the original modem and it was fine. Read up on the recovery options for your phone first and check the specific forum for your phone. Also in the future please ask device specific question in the proper forum.'

[Q] Box requesting network unlock code won't appear. How do I access it?

Hello,
I am new to the forum and very much a noob. I had bought my SkyRocket in Miami nearly 2 years ago and it came unlocked (i believe the original carrier was AT&T since there was AT&T bloatware, even though there is no ATT logo on top of the screen, it has a Samsung one instead), however i never even had the original carrier's sim chip. It worked fine with two different SIM chips from different carriers until last saturday when I flashed a ROM update (updated to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Stock) via Odin.
However, whenever i insert my SIM (which was previously working), instead of popping a box/window to request me a code, it forces me to reboot saying there is no valid SIM (print below).
edit: as a new user I cant post the print screen. it basically is a popup where the Title says: "SIM Card Removed", the content says: "The mobile Network will be unavailable until you restart with a valid SIM card inserted", below that there is a button called "Restart", which reboots my system. Whenever i boot my phone with SIM inside this message appearst and I cant close it, the only thing I can do is restart and remove the SIM if I intend to do anything on the phone.
Anyway, I would very much appreciate your help in trying to get that box requesting network unlock code to pop-up, does anybody know how to do it?
ps: service mode runs extremely slow and does not respond to most commands
pps: already tried typing different combinations of the *7465625*638*# codes and the phone does not respond to such commands (i.e., i insert the code but it doesn't display any alert or enter another screen, it just allows me to keep typing)
ppps: I'm also looking for an ICS stock rom to see if I can unlock it using an older firmware, but i can't find an an odin-flashable stock ics for download anywhere
pppps: I've already wiped cache and partition a few times, to no avail.
I know this is a long post, but I really appreciate and thank you in advance for your help.
need to be on stock to enter code, try jb stock
read the 1stop sticky(link in my sig) for all your needs todo so, theres even a free method to unlock sim if ur code fails
The problem started exactly when I flashed the update to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Stock.

if u read the 1stop sticky, i know its long, u wouldve found a rogers ics for odin, a flashable stock att ics for recovery, and a free method to unlock sim.
what do u mean problems started after updating to jb, was it unlocked b4, if so updating shouldnt have reverted the unlock
edit: reread ur 1st post i think the problem is ur radio(jb radio) for the carrier u r trying to connect to, read the radio section in the 1 stop sticky

I updated to JB using one of the instructions I found on this forum ([HOWTO] NEWB GUIDES To | RESTORE TO STOCK | USE/T.S. ODIN | INSTALL TWRP/CWM | ROOT - thanks for the response here and the tutorial there, by the way). It was unlocked before, but I assume it had something to do with the previous firmware, because the sim unlock stopped working after I flashed JB through Odin.
ps: as I said I already bougght it unlocked and assumed it was from ATT given the bloatware, however my GF just pointed out the rogers logo on the back, therefore i think the hardware is from them instead. I'm downloading their rom and will reflash it and hope it works, i'll update the status here as soon as I make any progress
Hi, i just flashed a rogers rom and it worked. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. But wow, it runs much smoother than it did when running the wrong firmware. Idk why but whoever sold this to me had installed at&t firmware (it was always very glithcy, but i just assumed it was down to the hardware), i know that now because i see that rogers has a diferent intro than att app had either on gingerbread or jellybean.
Anyway, thanks for the help and - again - sorry for taking your time needlessly, i should've paid more attention to my own phone.

Please help with switching firmwares, kind of a weird situation.

Getting a new-in-box Note10+ today from Swappa, so I assume it will be on some Android 9.0 TMO firmware. I need to get it onto the Verizon firmware.
SamFirm only gives the latest Android 10 firmwares. (It may be important to note that the VZW and XAA files both have the exact same filename: SM-N975U1_10_20200118102941_hj8esiossq_fac)
Is it safe to open the box > go straight into download mode > flash the newest VZW firmware via Odin?
Or are there other things I should do first? For example (in no particular order):
- first boot
- updating the software via settings
- flashing XAA firmware, THEN first boot with verizon sim already in phone per this thread, THEN flash VZW firmware
Thank you. Also any other suggestions are welcomed.

100% safe to immediately flash VZW firmware. The phone wont know any difference if you booted it first or not.

Thank you. And I just noticed this is the Note 10 forum not the 10+ forum (thanks google)...
What about concerns per the thread I linked where flashing VZW firmware is still recognized as a TMO device unless you boot the XAA firmware with the verizon sim before flashing the VZW firmware? Is that an old issue that's no longer a problem now?
The device won't mind that I'm jumping from an older version of Android to a newer version? What about the bootloader version, when does that get updated, as I understand it's currently on version 2 and how will that affect this process?
Thanks again, you post was short and being an $800 device I obviously am trying to have all my bases covered before messing with it.

you cannot go backwards in bootloader revisions, but you can go backwards in android versions as long as theyre on the same BL revision(not likely, but who knows? I didnt look yet). Also, the worst thing that could happen if you try to flash an older BL version is that itll fail in Odin and will still allow the phone to boot normally (usually, and if it doesnt, its still fixable). The only issue with booting it after flashing new firmware with your current sim is that itll install the carrier specific stuff on the phone so long as the CSC needed for that is in the multi CSC pack you flashed on the phone, and if it does install the carrier crap you dont want, just factory reset it and reboot with the actual sim you want you use
no problem man, thats what we are here for
