[Q] Losing Service After Custom Rom-Milestone

Hey guys I have recently rooted my phone and after many hours and headache I have managed to do so. Onto the task of installing a custom rom (so far I have tried MIUI and Froyomod both found from the milestone development forum) I am losing service and haven't been able to do anything about it. If i perform a data wipe and restore a previous nandroid backup (which is basically stock)I get my service back and all is fine, as soon as a new rom is on there I have no service.
I understand you guys need the most amount of info possible to help me so here it goes. My phone is an unlocked A853 Milestone with bootloader version 90.74. I have downloaded the Telus SBF from (wont let me post link but if you search for milestone sbf in google its the second link). I downloaded the one that is under the 2.1 category, second one since it is mirrored. Is this where i went wrong? Because I now see another subcategory below that reads 2.1(Service version), but how could I have service when I go to stock and not after I flash a rom. I never lost service after flashing SBF before I went on to root and do custom rom. Btw I am on the Bell network but my research tells me Bell and Telus are on the same frequency bands and I see no bell SBF for the Milestone.
When I go back to stock and look under Settings>about phone>firmware configuration version it reads a code, I do not see this firmware configuration anywhere if I flash a custom rom. I have tried to manually set my apn but to no avail.
I have given all the info I know, if any more is required I will do my best to provide it. I really want to experiment with different roms but I obviously need to have service no matter what. Thanks for the help in advance.

Could this be a baseband/radio issue? Could a baseband issue cause absolutely no service or just poor reception? If anyone could lead me in the right direction or point out what they think the issue is, shoot, because I'm out of ideas. Thanks

Bump . What if i try to flash the telus firmware i have on stock which gives me service after installing a new rom? Are these roms in any way made for specific frequencies or service providers?

so I tried typing in *#*#4636#*#* and for signal strength it says -113 dBM 0 asu. This means I'm getting good signal and is not a radio issue correct? When I go to run ping test it says " Ping IpAddr: Fail: IP addr not reachable. Ping hostname is also unreachable, HTTP client test: Fail: IOException. I hate to be bumping this so many times but I'm quite new at this and I need some help

[Q] Xoom on wrong baseband

I changed the baseband of my Xoom from GSM/UMTS to USA by a mistake.
No Idea how to reset this to european settings.
The mistake happened using the app "Netzwerk" by Phillipp Mangelow.
Since then there is no chance to get an internet connection.
All settings i can directly access are ok.
The above named app has an error and offers only "USA" as selection of baseband.
Has anyone an idea how to reset this or knows an app which modifies this setting?
Xoom without radio is not even a half xoom

Hi,
i use a international version of motorola xoom mz601 in india and have updated to android 3.1 and use the latest baseband n_01.83.35p.
after this update the band changed to USA band 800Mhz? i cannot use any network 2G or 3G and the motorola doesn't show any network operators.
i really want to revert back the settings.now how can i downgrade my baseband and what commands i need to execute also i have tried moving to stock 3.0.1 but no change in baseband.
any apk file that would help me change the band?

If you are rooted, and if you have a previous backup done thru recovery before, just go to recovery, advanced restore and restore system only. It should bring back your baseband.

What I did was go back to a stock 3.1 provider firmware. Being in India I used Original rom. I flashed boot, system, data and recovery. At that point the 3g radio still wont work, Let it do the OTA updates to bring it to 3.2.2 and it will start working, I think one of the OTA updates flashes the modem and or bootloader and resets it to the correct band.
I could then go back to a custom rom and it was all good, I make sure I stay away form the band settings in future.

[Q] Please Help! Using 9020a on T-mobile.

I was currently using MIUI GB build from brainmaster, and I wanted to switch to the ICS after finally finding out they halted the OTA update. Well I'm using T-Mobile, and when i flashed the stock rom back, i was not able to us the 9023t stock rom as it kept giving errors. So i had to tried the 9020a (which i believe is for ATT) and that worked. My phone is able to make calls and receive texts, but it only shows that its on edge (e) and no more 3g on the status bar.
My question is, is there a way to switch the baseband back to a 9023t build? or did i always have an ATT branded phone?

Just verified after pulling my battery the model states:
GT-I9020T

It seems that you have flashed an I9020A baseband on an I9020T. There have been reports that people who have done this have never been able to get 3G again.
However, you can try to follow this link and flash the KI1 baseband and see what happens.
Just out of interest... do you know anyone with an AT&T sim that you can borrow to see if you can pick up AT&T's 3G now? (you would have to make sure that then APN for att is entered and selected) It's extremely doubtful but would be interesting to know nevertheless...

I will try and flash that baseband, and will update asap. As of right now, I dont have an ATT sim card, but if i do come across one i will update as well.

Also, do you know why it happened to let me install the 9020a rom, and not the 9020t? I had to root my phone from scratch all over again to erase the MIUI rom and to try to bring it back to stock. Every time i tried to install the 9020t/9023 it kept giving me the error message:
E: Failed to verify whole-file signature
But it worked like a charm when i attempted to do it with the 9020a.

I was able to flash the KI1 baseband with no problems at all. Now with this will I be able to flash ICS?

Either flash the official OTA or an ICS ROM that doesn't contain a radio.

My su 760 never shows edge in data connectivity

have a problem with my mobile plz anyone, need

my su 760 only shows G or 3g when i activate data
connectivity. i though this is not a problem.
3g data speed is not a problem its download speed is
near to 1mb.
but in gsm area gsm DL speed is 5 kbps.
i never found my mobile connects to edge network.
why i cant connect it to edge network. edge's DL speed
is near to 15 kbps.
one of my friends have a lg l7 mobile.! but it connects
to edge network without any problem and its DL speed
more than 15 kbps.
on the same place my su 760 and friend's l7 chooses
gsm and edge. why why why............!
its too hard to feel this problem.
whats the matter. even su 760's specs says it has edge
support even pc dongles are uses edge in my area.
i tryed to change gsm network prequs in hidden menu
but it only changes to gsm only not to edge.

i flased XBSA404_CP.fls using lg flash tool. but its not working. i tryed p 920 20a too and after it mobile restarts every 1 minite.
these bbs never shows me edge signal mark. g only in notification area.
can u suggest me a bb with full edge support.
when i flash bb using lg flash tool. IT stops in 20% saying AP didnd found.

If you mean 4G, that requires a certain combination of baseband and firmware. For example, on my P925 with xbsall's VX3D ROM (v30A US firmware) and the P925 (Thrill) baseband I would see the 4G data icon in status bar. However, that is not his best ROM, and I honestly do not find a noticeable difference between supposed 4G and H+ speed (but I have not taken measurements to know for sure).
Incomplete flash is likely due to incorrect driver install for your pc/phone. Check my guide, step 1, for that, and be sure to pay close attention to all details:

It can be tricky the first or second time you do it, and that is why I tried to put so much detail into the instructions.
Something odd is going on right now with the forums; I can't copy the link to the guide without xda app crashing, so just go to first post of the thread, part 1. You will need firmware/baseband (i.e. the correct .bin and .fls files) for SU760 (I don't have that phone), but driver install on pc is the same, from what I have read.

Yes, baseband can be flashed separately.
You have the same bugs P920 users had when the only ICS available was ported from SU760...you need an ICS .bin specific to SU760; someplace there ought to be one, but I don't know where.
For signal, you probably need to set up your APN.

I have bin and fls files and those are official for su760 not for p920.
I don't know what's the problem. I have a working net connection and I have set apn too.
can u suggest me a bb for official ics v30b.

??? You said you flashed xbsall's files. Those are for P920/P925.

ya ya its true. I flased the xball's large patition but its for p920 I experianzed many problems after that.
but I have show e on notification bar. that's the reason I flashed xball's fls to my stock.
but that seems not working.
do u know a bb for p925 ics asia pasific or p920 bb.?

Recently it came V30B for Su760. So... probably you should flash it. Take a look here:

wcdma only works on 2100 mhz
gsm works on 900,1900 mhz
other gsm and wcdma bands not working.
my stock v30b bb can access gsm 850 too but non of these basebands can't give me edge support. :'(

I didn't. can u flash ur mobile with another mobile's dll. i think it will reject by lg flash tool.
I afraid that will brick my mobile.

I actually have no idea. This is unknown territory for me. I am surprised the P920 files worked at all. I suppose you could try it and if it bricks you could flash it back, but that would be at your risk.

I don't think about bricks cos I have every things for re flashing. I allredy bricked it more than 10 times
I'm in a tamil language course now. am going this Friday home for weekend. ill try all of the ways then.
but I have a big problem.
I reflashed my mobile severel times using 5 pcs. but after the require software (lg flash tool. mobile drivers. omap boot) installation every pcs full of viruses. every exe file was attacked by it and if I scan pc from v guard all exes files are deletes by vg saying all are infected.
even if I install those softwares to pc while VG runs. v guard don't give permission to install them. only they deletes.
kaspersky. avest both are recognizes all those software are viruses.
I download all files from xda. dev host. lg firmwares and lg official site. what's the problem.

Some of that stuff contains system level files that can be mistaken by antivirus software as harmful or potentially harmful.

then why vg delete all exe files telling that all are affected. even my friend's self extract zipped exe files are deleted (those are his and his gf's videos. lol
and also if I insert a pen drive to pc then two files automatically copies to it. one is exe and other one pff or pfd (I don't remember).
but computers didn't have any problems with os. they all are fine even till now. but every other exe are deleted. (software setup files, installed software's exes like ms office other application softawares). no problem with v guard's exes. it copies to every. partitions too.

[Q] Lost 4G after flashing another Stock

Hello guys.
I have a xperia Z3 from VIVO and flashed a rom from OI, everything went well on flashing the rom but after it finished i noticed that i lost my 4G. When i search for network there have a TIM BRASIL LTE but it won't let me register on it.
Do anyone know how to solve that?

Because the problem is that I am not able to register to the LTE network, it's not related to the ability of using internet.
Actually, this is exactly what happens, after i flash the firmware i have 4G but after a few minutes (Between 5 and 10 minutes) i completelly lose connection to the LTE network, even if it's available in the networks list.

just test firmware of another region
(UK firmware for example)

Maybe if you explained a bit better that would?
Like mentioned before this post, try to flash only the baseband from another region, hopefully that will solve it.

Geeks, there have no other region for my version of the Z3, also i am trying to flash many other rooms from my region and all of them results in a error during the flash... Blank error, no description.

Lito, thanks for the sugestion, i flashed the baseband for the Customized PT and after flash i got the 4G signal for about 30 minutes, but when i rebooted the phone, i completelly lost 4G again, and now in the network lists there is no LTE from TIM. Could it be because i installed an european baseband on a mobile here in brazil?

thats weird... are you sure you have the correct APN settings inputted? Also, i would assume youve tried flashing the VIVO's baseband or any other USA roms?
Try the following if you have already done all those: go to dial pad and input *#*#4636#*#* > phone info > menu top right > select radio band > try Australia or USA or what ever pops up > scroll down and make sure LTE/GSM auto is selected or try out the other ones > scroll back up and hit the "run ping test"
if all these doesnt work, i would advise you to go back to the original rom.
just curious, which model number is your Z3?

Lito, now i will complicate a little bit more then. First, the model number of my mobile is D6646 from Brazil with DTV.
Also, i tried to flash the Vivo Baseband and it was worse, i did not install any baseband from USA, just from Portugal.
I tried that on the keyboard, but when i chose USA band i just can't even register on any TIM network.
Also, i tried to flash the original rom, but i can't flash any other firmware apart from Oi. I get a blank error line on flashtool for every other rom i tried to install, so it's even worse
Feel the challenge.

that being said, i dont see D6646 in Xperifirm, i cant tell you what to flash and what not to flash. Without that, i wouldnt advise you to flash anything but the original rom that it came with, you dont want to soft/hard brick the device.

Lito, I tryied to flash the original room, I am using XperiaFirm to download the firmware and flashtool to flash. I can flash the Oi room, but i can't flash the vivo BR, the Claro Argentina, or the Customized PT, all of them results in a blank error, it's not drivers problems, since i can install the Oi firmware and also i disabled the signature on windows in order to install.
Anyway, i solved the problem in order to show another problem. Here is the situation:
I created another APN to use when i don't want to use internet because even with data package disabled my mobile send data to the carrier that charges me, when i deleted that APN the 4G worked perfectly, but now my carrier is charging me the data . Any idea how to block this data comsumption?

that is extremely weird, never had such issues with any of my android phones. make sure data roaming is not on, the carrier shouldnt be able to charge you if you disabled data
Also, make sure the FTF files youve made with xperifirm and flashtool are correct, like not including the TA files etc..., i would advise you redownload those FTF files and try again, also make sure you have the latest flashtool available.
at this point, you are probably better seeking for a developer or someone who can read codes, make a logcat and see if the flashtool thread is available and ask there. Aside from the FTF files, you are better off asking the carrier why they are still able to charge you in such way. Sorry man, this is as far I can aid you in this matter. GL bud!
