Looks like it's another one. I am beginning to think this problem is related to some of the firmwares we use since it's happening with different ROMs.
You can try the various things people tell you to do....but if it's unresponsive completely..even if you plug to computer...then so far..no one has really provided a solution or reason for it.
You can see multiple post about it. Happened with mine too...running and then stuck after a long constant tone...then it never turned on again.
If your still under factorywarranty which you should be. Call HTC say phone won't turn on pay shipping fee and they will send you a new or refurbished phone either way it's better than no phone.

I don't think so...
the bootloader unlocking (as htc wrote) void the software warranty
so, if is hardware related you are lucky, they will repair it
try to bring it to htc and say that you did nothing, it just shut down...don't say that you unlocked it or anything like...maybe they will just give you a new one, they can't check if you did something to the phone

Unlocking your bootloader voids your warranty, no matter how you unlocked it, but you have. If HTC gets the phone to power on, no doubt they will check the bootloader status. If they find you've unlocked the bootloader, they will charge you for the repair and damage fees, including the shipping cost.
It depends where you send your phone, if it's a hardware fault they might not charge you, but as I said it all depends on the Service Center.

Really? You have that same constant tone too? Well..looks like it's not related to a specific ROM since I just installed Revolution HD 6.6.2 when it happened.

I don't know....no one seems to know for sure if it's hardware or software. Some suggested it must be hardware if it's not turning on at all. Yours gets hot when you put battery in? Even it doesn't turn on?
I got the same issue, I tried to reboot into recovery to install opensensation but then it didnt boot and no led if I connect it to the charger ... nothing
the only thing is that lsusb gives me this:
Code:
Bus 002 Device 028: ID 05c6:9008 Qualcomm, Inc. Gobi Wireless Modem (QDL mode)
any updates?

Hi All,
My Desire S decided to die today for no apparent reason:
I had been browsing the internet before jumping in my car and switching on the bluetooth. I had been driving for about 10 mins when I got a call through on my cars bluetooth system, about 3 mins in to the call the caller disappeared even though the car said it was still connected.
I pulled over to check the phone and found it was frozen on the call screen. So I disconnected the battery and powered it up, but it could only get the the HTC splash and sound before the screen turned black and the unit became unresponsive.
A few more tries gave the same issue, so i decided to boot it into recovery to do a full wipe, this completed successfully, but the phone was still doing the same thing.
After removing the battery again the phone will now not turn on at all and does not respond to the charger (no led). I've tested another battery, but still no luck, and tried the bat from my DS in my sisters DS and it works fine.
So my phone is completely dead it seems. I should probably send it off to HTC for a repair, but the problem is that the phone is S-OFF and i have no way of getting it S-ON while it's bricked.
Can anybody suggest anything?
I'm not having much luck with HTC as my mozart is at the repair centre as we speak with a bootloader issue... I might have to choose another manufacturer in future
PS: It was S-OFF but running stock software
there is not much to say...try to remove battery and wait for a while...if issue still persist htc service is only hope

Thanks, i'll leave it overnight and see how it looks in the morning. Luckily i have an optimus one spare that has always served me well... It just does not come close to my DS.
I've just had a development!
When i plug it into my windows 7 pc it recognises it as a device "QHSUSB_DLOAD" but fails to install a driver for it.
Can anybody elaborate on what this is?
Thanks!

Afraid this is not good news...you'll need to reign the device and claim under warranty, I wouldn't worry of you made it soff they probably won't be able to tell, read the recent posts on the ext4 recovery thread as same thing happened to someone else

Well i've got it booked in for repair.
Has anybody here had many dealings with HTC Repair, or Regenersis (the UK repairer)?
The guy I spoke to over email (i got fed up of waiting on the phone) about my Desire S was a complete retard. He sent me the same email 3 times in reply to me telling me to restore factory settings... Each time I told him it was not possible as the phone would not switch on...
He then told me that UPS could not pick up my phone for at least 2 weeks, this is despite the fact that I sent my Mozart in for repair last week and was told at least 48 hours. So I would have to find my own way to post or courier it.
Then he books the phone in and sends me the 'Tick Sheet' with the phone information and problem description and in the problem description box he wrote "HELLO"??? WTF? What sort of jokers are these?
At least the woman I spoke to about my Mozart was helpful, she actually gave a meaningful response to my questions, but even she got the problem description wrong, writing just "Reboot Cycle" which is way to vague considering the problem it actually had.
I've just managed to unlock my bootloader on my HTC sensation using HTC dev installed 4EXT and rooted it, installed camera mod all was well, the went to install a battery icon mod, phone restarted then nothing afterward plugged charger in light not coming on so im guessing it's totally bricked now.
Is there a way to get it to work or do i have to risk sending back to HTC and hoping they don't check the phone & just replace it?

Nope nothing phone dead, gonna risk sending it back to HTC
If no charging LED, it's properly dead and should be safe to send back.
Aye it totally dead, what the turn around time for HTC replacing phones?
Quite good in my experience, I had my Nexus One picked up by them on a Monday, and it was back in my hand on the Friday.
Do i need to send all the stuff back in the box or only the phone with the battery? also what is the best way to get in touch with them by email or ringing the 0845 number.
I've used both, if you want a quicker answer, then call them.
Pretty sure you keep the battery and battery cover, you just send them the guts, so to speak.
Did you putted out the battery when your phone reboot?
For bricked phones that dexter's unbrick project wont fix there are 2 options
1. Send it back to HTC and wait for a replacement
2. Send it to someone who can JTAG it

If it's a hardware failure, JTAG would likely do nothing.
So ive had my sensation for 3 months now and have had no issues so far. Yesterday my phone was acting sluggish so i restarted it then after it came back on i unlocked it and it immedately shut off and wouldnt turn on for about a hour. then i got it to boot up and it shut off again.

If it refuses to turn on that may be good for a warranty exchange cause now you don't have to do what I said below. Keep trying to turn it on to see what happens...
I'd just run a ruu then s-on and get a warranty exchange, it sounds like there's a hardware problem.
Edit: maybe your battery??

So I have a One S that is not hacked in any way, and I was doing an official update from HTC/T-Mobile to it when I lost internet connection. The phone powered down afterwards (acting like it had completed the update). Now I am unable to power it on at all. When I plug it in no light turns on, holding down the power button does nothing, and holding power down and volume down does not do anything. How might I be able to fix this. I looked through the forums but I haven't seen any one having the same problem with a non-hacked One S so I was not sure what I should do.
Any help would be great!
Thanks

Your phone bricked during an update. It's not that uncommon as doing a large update writes lots of important files. So maybe you got a bad download and here you are. Since you never unlocked you should just submit a warranty claim.
HTC phones come with a 1 year warranty. The phone hasn't been out for 1 year so you're good there.
The only problem is I bought it from a friend so T-Mobile wont do the warrenty because they say it has been used on another account prior to mine

hy all member, I have a problem with my phone..
firstly
I've rooted it using this method --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101352
and then I instal this ROM --> http://www.romzj.com/resources/default.html?view=rom&id=13930
using twrp 2.3.3 recovery, it instaled successfully and then I reboot my phone.
it stuck at htc white logo, because it take too long time I try to torn it off by press power button for long time but it won't just nav button blinking..
I leave it till dead, in the morning I try to charge it but just orange led blinking for long time..
I've try to press power button for 2mnt or press power + vol down or both of vol button but no lock, the led just turn off but device wont turn on or vibrate..
anyone have a solution?? please... thanks
Charge it on laptop for a few hours, I remember there was a trick like this for the One X when I had a similar problem. Hold the power button and after 8-10 seconds the phone should vibrate. After a while when you plug it back, it should charge Then turn it on and try to get to fast-boot if possible... then do recovery from RUU if you cant get a rom installed from twrp....
By the way that is an x920e ROM are you sure your phone is not an x920d?

No, mine just shut off while I took an afternoon nap and this trick worked for a while eventually it couldn't detect even sdcard in CWM Recovery and TWRP. My phone had a fried mobo or corrupted custom firmware, not sure.... But that was just bad luck, because there was no RUU released at the time for my phone and after a few months I couldn't even boot it to confirm if it was hardware or not. I sold the One X to a friend as is, who got motherboard replaced for about a $100 and new imei but this was in India. Ironically the RUU was released around that time lol.
Anyhow others have done this trick and recovered this is a known problem with some One Xs', mostly happens when battery is too low.

When I was in India my friend went to a local store the guy changed the motherboard of the One X for about $120 instead of sending to HTC because if it's rooted and they find out they insist on replacing motherboard as it's their policy to have everything returned to default state before sending it back so even if you only have a battery problem they will charge to replace the motherboard.
I heard this on One X forums where a guy got charged for motherboard replacement because it was unlocked/rooted even though he sent to get screen replaced. Ask around if it is still true or if rules changed before you send it to HTC.

No, my friend didn't send to HTC as I said others had that experience, I think my friend's really had a motherboard/flash problem, but since bootloader unlocked warranty was void.
I hope you read the warning before you got the unlock token from HTCDev website, as soon as you accepted terms and got code I believe you voided your warranty.
Did you send your device? Because if you did they may have found out, otherwise they would replace it under warranty.
