[Q] Updating baseband? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I was reading questions concerning baseband upgrades and I'm somewhat confused...
Since I'm not with T-mobile, am I still supposed to receive and/or should I install firmware updates? If it's better to do so, what should I consider beforehand?
Thanks

Ill have to try and find the link to the specific post but it sounds like T-Mobile is rolling out the new 2.3.4 with new baseband update OTA over the next week and a half and then I think you can get it from the LG update tool after that. If you are on another service provider you may not be able to get it OTA. Ill get the link and edit here in a min.

Ok so I don't know how to edit my previous post on my phone but kwes1020 has a rooted 2.3.4 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602798
you may have to manually update the new baseband. You can look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332350
Just look around on the development section in the g2x forum and you will find what you need. Jboxer, kwes1020, and corememory (sorry if I missed anyone else) have done some nice work since this new update showed up.

Stock ics manual update question!

OK, so I'm starting to get impatient with this whole ics ota update getting suspended and have to wait for longer time thing and I'm thinking about manually updating my i9020a Nexus S phone...
But I got some question that I need answer before doing so:
I heard that there's a serious battery issue with ics, is it a huge problem or something minor and something that I won't notice?
If I don't like ics, can I downgrade to gingerbread without rooting?
Is there any risk of anything from losing data to bricking my phone when I try to update to ics manually?
Can you give me a link to the ics rom for i9020a for me?
Is updating manually just to get it early worth it?
Thanks a lot guys! And I'm kinda new to this XDA thing nor I'm a developers, so can you guys maybe give me a tip on how to use this site?

I don't think the i9020a has official ics yet, think it got halted before the rollout to your device but after the other devices

I'm pretty sure it did. Cuz there's a link for that...

OTA-Did you get it? Withdrawn?

My daughter got it early on. I didn't. I'm having a lot of battery issues and rebooting. I want this update, hopefully it will cure my problems.
Reading the posts here, it seems it may have been withdrawn,
So I ask, Did you get the OTA? When?
I saw in the other post about the update that someone had it waiting for them Monday morning so I guess that means it wasn't withdrawn as of yesterday?
I never got it, either.
My wife hasn't gotten it, but I installed a different kernel. Would that keep her from getting the notice?
I figured if the ROM was stock, she would be ok...

You need a stock ROM and recovery to receive OTA updates.

I know how to revert to the original kernel, can you point me to a post on how to revert to original recovery?
Load up nvflash and click revert to stock.

I'm stock. I'm on 2.3.3 and v21e.
I'm curious and just want a show of hands from people who got it after the first couple of days.
Like I said, I did see where someone said they got it apparently over the weekend. This tells me it's not withdrawn?
And isn't the consensus that the OTA goes more smoothly than through LG?
Here's the problem, there's the lgp999DW, DWP, and 2 others that I dont remember off the top of my head. Only 3 of the 4 got the OTA. They're supposed to make the file available, for those who didnt recieve it like they were supposed to, around May 14. At that time I'm sure there should be a way to force load the update for our model.

I did the whole stock format and search for update, did the stock format and connected to my computer, all said the same thing, "Your device is up-to-date. 2.3.3 V21e." There is no current sure-fire way to get the update until they release it.

I just went through the G2x forum at T-Mobile and several reported getting the update today.
OK, found out the update was for lg p999DW models only. If you wanna which one you have, remove your battery cover and right below were the battery goes in little white print you should see something LG-P999DW or LG-P999DWP.

Official OTA is v21e
Unofficial OTA is v21y
v21y is highly NOT RECOMMENDED!!!
You can try by offline-upgrading back and forth both versions and check out the battery life

Being stated on website doesn't mean it's official. T-mobile pulled it down and has been working on random freezing and signal drop since then

I accidentally thanked you so your welcome , but how is it not official? From what i understand it was an official update from them, i dont think it was a leak either as they even gave out an update schedule, maybe they pulled it but its still 'official' from them.

at&t users ICS update thread

OK guys since there is a large number of users getting update fever im gonna make this as a means to keep the repeats down hopefully you will all read it and understand.
first off if you are on 2.3.5 you will have an update ota to 2.3.6
if you are on 2.3.6 currently there is no update (i will update the op if this changes)
rules you must be on 2.3.6 stock with stock recovery as well no apps frozen or debloated to get the update (op will change if i am wrong)
on 2.3.6 there is a glitch saying that you have an update available it is wrong you will try it may attempt a dl even but you will not get all the way.
so heres what we need if you take an update and meet all these criteria and it downloads and installs and you see in the about phone section that its 4.0.whatever then you can post i will ask whever takes it gets a stock nand preferably unrooted and rooted this will cut down on the number of posts and help the mods ok thank you for your time
Bump I wont let this get burried

2.3.5 must have the glitch also as that's what i have and I get the same messages. It wont even update to 2.3.6 as I believe AT&T is getting their system ready to put out the 4.0 whatever. Whatever the actual case maybe it can not be to far off now.
I was just tired of the same thread 500 times so I decided to try this

another round of leaks, then once all the xda devs fix all the bugs in that leak they should be good to release. ;P. why else would there be so many leaks?
True but I'm on here all the time so I'm tired of the update fever threads

I think Sammobile still has 2.3.5 but its nothing to flash it and OTA update to 2.3.6. I did this a few weeks back being bored.

you'd be better of just flashing a stock tar.
everything needs to be perfectly untouched to update.

well, kinda...
Short answer:
Officially (at this moment),: NO - GingerBread is last update (versions V20 and V21) - full version list: http://wittgenstein.homeserver.com/P920/list.php?
Non-officially (at this moment) YES, there's an ICS version (V30) ported from another LG model (the korean version of Optimus LGP920) thanks to xbsall. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956347
