ASUS TRANSFORMER ROOTED 3.2.1
I am having major issues where my tablet keeps freezing on eee pad screen when turning on and the only way to start it up again is by pressing volume down and power and then waiting for it to start up.
If I try to get in to CWM i just get this message:
Android ww_epad-user bootloader (e) released by ww_epad-8.6.6.19-2011101
Checking for android ota recovery
Skiping android ota checking
checking for RCK.. press key (vol_up) in 5 sec to enter RCK (press volume up and the next line of text appears)
Booting revovery kernal image (nothing happens, should this not take me to CWM??)
Also when I turn the tablet off, it turns itself back on almost instanly but only to the Ee pad screen this has happened since last night.
Dude try following steps
Probably you might have tried all these steps, if you haven't then try it once
1) Re-install CWM by downloading from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213723
I use version 3.2.0.1 because it allows MMC card access and latest versions only allow internal memory access. Donload in copy to your MMC.
2) Put the MMC back in your tablet and restart with holding down vol down key and as soon as screen turns on press vol up key and that should let you into CWM recovery.
3) If you can get into recovery i would advice you to wipe everything clean and install the CWM you downloaded.
4) flash the ROM and enjoy..
Hope these steps will help..
I'm afraid that the problem is that he is unable to start cwm....or boot his TF.
serpicoUK, do you have Nvflash capabilities? (what is your serialnumber?)
if so then maybe this will help you to install cwm back:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446019
or maybe this will help if you still can use ADB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592120&highlight=freeze+recovery
see post 12 and futher of above thread
I cant get CMW to work, when I try to flash it, it says need to reboot to go into recovery mode, all it does it freezes on the Eee pad screen.
S/N B7OK........
it looks like your CWM is broken(i know its obvious so don't laugh), so how about you trying unroot your tablet using nvflash. this link should help you in that
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524302
i say unroot because getting your tablet working is more important and you can always get root back, so stop worrying about getting fixing CWM and unroot it through nvflash... btw this my personal opinion as whenever i face issue with CWM on my tablet or phone i unroot them...
you know you can always get into nvflash mode, so either flash CWM or unroot using nvflash....
What ever I do nothing seems to work.
Its now working, not sure how but it is.
Thanks for all your imput

Basically neither adb reboot recovery nor ROM Manager/QuickBoot will boot me into recovery. The device just reboots as normal. So I'm unable to flash new CWM or Prime :\
The device has root (su is installed and showing prompts for superuser access).
Is there something I should do which I'm not or I am, in fact, booted into recovery and just don't realize it?
None of those work to get you into recovery.
You can look for Gnufabio's boot to recovery app or
Hold volume down plus power button, soon as you see two lines of words appear at the to left corner, press volume up within 5 seconds, that will take you into recovery.
Thank you. It worked.
do you know of a way to do this without root i can bairly get my transformer to boot normally let alone recovery...
AFAIK you don't need root to boot into recovery.
I'm still wondering why these forums provide misleading and clearly wrong directions of getting into recovery...

The above method will get you into stock recovery if you're not rooted.
... the reason i posted this is because this method DOES not work for me... those programs require root. i do not have root. i am trying to get root. i have been rooting rom loading since my htc touch way back the only reason i want to root is so i can get netflix cause asus didnt update that lib file...

The button combo method is the default way of getting into recovery stock or custom. To get root you have to follow one of the many way to root.
How are you rooting by getting into stock recovery?
what i am saying is the default button combo isnt working for me to get into recovery mode.
i cannot get the device into apx mode at all
i need a way to do this
the default button combo is not working.

The APX mode is different, the combo above is for recovery.
For APX you need to power off the tablet.
-Plug the tablet to pc with your usb cord.
-Hold volume up while powering on
-Your screen will stay off but you should hear a "Ding" on your PC (or what ever noise your PC make when USB device is plug in)
well... they really should post that... i guess i did have apx working properly
Ok so i've looked, cant find anything to help me out here... Its always possible i used the wrong search terms but i think i did pretty good...
Anyway, i had flashed i believe a CWM version of ICS when it first came out because it was easy to do, and i was able to keep root. Well I ended up with the CWM Recovery version that had the problem of constantly booting into CWM, so i fixed that and the tablet was telling me there was a firmware update, so i did it..
Now im stuck at the splash screen... When i try to boot into Recovery, it says its loading the recovery image but never does anything else. When i tried to load the other screen where you can choose recovery or the OS, i think people call it the linux screen? I dont remember, but when i did that, the big battery meter displayed on the phone for a second then disappeared... Wont turn on now, so i just plugged it in.. Is there something im missing? Or something i can do that anyone is aware of?
Check if the Android Debug Bridge works, and is your device a B60 or lower, (sbkv1)? If so you can use NvFlash to restore the tab.

Its B90, SBKv2...
Last time i tried to boot, i tried Power+Volume Up and i saw the large battery that android phones typically show when they are powered off and you plug it in.. If i remember right, TF101 typically boots up if you plug it in when turned on, but it turned on, flashed that battery image and shut off, havent been able to turn it on since... Plugging it into my computer though, it wont turn on, plugging it into the wall outlet it turns on and sticks at the splash screen, so i'm gonna leave it there for a bit and see if it charges, then i'll try plugging it into the comp to see if ADB works... I'll let you know, thanks!
To get to recovery its power +vol down. Power + vol up gets you to apex mode, blank screen.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
.....don't know if I read all your info correct but to enter recovery is volume down + power until you get a message at the top of the screen then you let go both and press volume up to enter recovery or if you don't hit volume up it takes you to the cold boot / wipe data screen.
Yes, i posted that... I tried booting to recovery and it freezes when it says its loading the recovery image.
I was trying other combinations trying to remember the linux screen or whatever it was called, but either way. ADB mode doesnt work, im stuck at the splash screen.
SOLUTION: Do not do the update after fixing your TF101 if you have this same problem, because you'll have it again! Either way, here's what you do.
1) Since you cant shut off the TF101, hold the power button until the screen goes blank, then immediately let go of the power button and hold volume down. 2) The splash screen will re-appear, dont let go of the Volume Down button until you see the text at the top left corner of the screen prompting you to press volume up to enter recovery.
2) Dont press Volume Up since it will freeze trying to get into recovery. Instead, just wait and make sure your not holding down or pressing any buttons.
3) After a few second, you will be presented with two icons, one to wipe data and one to boot android/linux, selecting android/linux WILL work and boot, but you'll have the same issue as before without fixing anything if you reboot again. Follow the instructions to wipe your data. YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING!
4) At this point, Recovery still wont work. Boot your TF101 and get it setup and use the Play Store to download a terminal emulator
5) Open the terminal emulator and type SU and press enter, confirm superuser access.
6) Type in the following and press enter when done: echo boot | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 seek=0
7) Restart your transformer, let it boot normally the first time, after that, recovery should work.
8) Problem solved, DONT install the update this time! Install a custom ROM the typical way using CWM, and your set!
So, one thing i've noticed is im being spammed out of my mind from the OS to do that system update, so i've found that the best thing to do once your bootable, is to flash a custom ROM.
I tried this but went back to the same ICS version I had before, and ran into the same problems. Ended up with a whole other ROM, and now all problems are solved!
Good luck to anyone that has this issue!

so you lost all data, all apps, all settings, all the effort and work and time to config apps and settings... UGH
I am in the same boat on my TF201 after the JB update bricked my tablet... really pisses me off as Asus says RMA it (which you know they will just wipe your data) or wipe the data yourself and hop it works. So badly want to salvage my app settings and all the work I did to trick out my tablet. F***** Asus, their own update fried my tablet.
Hello guys,
I have a problem. I flashed todays CyanogenMod Nightly, but wasn't really satisfied with the overall performance and wifi signal strength. So I took the latest guevor kernel, which was not specifically for Megatron nor AOKP nor some other ROM. So I gave it a try. Now I have no wifi any more, and cannot boot into recovery via Rom Manager nor the "normal" recovery option the extended power menu. As a last option I considered the 2-button combination when the tablet boots. Now comes the blast in my eyes: It does not power off! After tapping on "Power off" it stucks.
I do have a backup but without booting into recovery I cannot restore ot obviously.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Hold the power button for 15 seconds. Then it will turn off. then hold volume down, THEN power, then press volume up. Voila in recovery!
try the reboot2recovery app from the market aswell. always handy to have around.
Thing O Doom, thanks, I'll try later.
scottyf79, that's the crucial point! When there's no wifi, there's no downloading this app. I've always used it but now I'm pi**** I can't.
Doom,
I try with power Vlo down then Vol up, But showing android with RED ! Mark.
Cannot see recovery or CWM. Boot Looping..... HELP !!!!
well just as an update that may interest those finding themselfs in recovery bootloops, whether be it stock Asus, dev'd Asus or w.h.y.
you may have read i had taken a customers tf home with this issue to try and fix it. ended up rma'ing the unit.
Asus ended up replacing 3 circuit boards to resolve the issue!

The Android with ! is your stock recovery.
Seems like you lost CWM somehow. You'll need to install CWM or a custom recovery again.
If you're on a CM9 Nightly you have root, so just download rouge recovery or a recovery, take the file 'recoveryblob' out of the .zip file. Then put it somewhere on your transformer (Preferably MicroSD or root of internal storage: /sdcard/)
Then in the terminal emulator or adb run these commands:
Code:
su (Get pound sign)
dd if=/where/you/put/recoveryblob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
reboot recovery
Then you should boot, see a blue bar, and be put in recovery.
I just got a transformer pad tf300t, and i am new to android, and just the other day i managed to brick it. i have searched for hours on end for a way to unbrick it, but all the methods i can find don't match my circumstances. So far all i have managed to do it get it into APX mode (i don't know how), and installed a driver so that in Device Manager it says "Asus Transformer Prime APX Interface". Whenever i do volume up+power button, or volume down+power button on boot, it reboots and returns to the boot screen where it stays forever until the battery goes dead. This all happened after i unlocked the boot loader, attempted to install clockworks, and then the battery went dead while using the wipe system data option in the boot menu (or whatever it's called when you do volume down+power button). Any help would be awesome and i would greatly appreciate it.
EDIT: Just sent an email to ASUS about the problem, and of course they weren't any help and just said i might need new hardware (hopefully not true)
Hi, i've met the same problem.
In fact when i tried to update my TF300T to JellyBean, my device didn't want to boot anymore only in Recovery or on Bootloader. So i tried to update the Recovery with the fastboot and install a TWRP recovery with Fastboot in USB and tried to re-install the ROM (CM 10).
But after that, Recovery and Fastboot did'nt work anymore. I've made a video to illustrate the problem (youtu.be/9aSWZrkP_Ec)
This is like that in Loop untill the device has no battery left.
Sorry for my mistakes, i've got an aproximative english
Thanks for any help.
To the OP, if you can some how push a new boot.blob from a ROM and then push a new system blob from the stock firmware, that fixed it for me. I could get into recovery still though so I used fastboot to do this.
I just messed up big time. I wanted to do a clean install of a ROM on my TF300. I went into CWM and under mounts and storage I selected "wipe data and data sd" Now I can't seem to load CWM anymore and I can't find any way to transfer a ROM onto the sd card to reinstall. I have been able to access my TF300 through fastboot, but I don't know how to get it all to install that way. Are there any links or is there anything you guys would suggest so that I can get my TF300 working again?
Thanks
Now I can't even get into fastboot. It's stuck on the Asus boot screen and that's it. Even when I hold down the power button and the lower volume key it only loads the Asus screen and doesn't give me any other options. Did I just brick my tf300?

Is adb working? If so we can flash or push a file with that.
See my signature for a link to access the bootloader menu, that may help. Forget about trying apx as it is useless without nvflash previously installed.
Are you on the ICS or JB bootloader?
Going forward only use the standard wipes unless instructed otherwise. Cwm is a problem on this tablet and then you wiped your internal sdcard as well.

Mine just loads Asus screen and boots CWM - which is good. But CWM won't see my internal or external SD cards.....:crying:
So i cant install any ROM - not stock not CM.
Also my device is not turning off, just rebooting so i cant enter fastboot also......
Any ideas?
