okay, i might not know exactly how to trouble shoot stuff like this, but i just thought id download and give it a try.
i tried to install from my external sd, and it states
"amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend scripting was deprecated by google in android 1.5.
It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the clockwork mod 3.0 gingerbread based recovery.
please switch to edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.
Installation aborted."
crap. ok I will create a fix, thanks!
not a problem man, you have no idea how much i appreciate your dev support.
ok, temp fix is up
noticed one is update-script and other is updater-script.
so nothing pop'd up for a 'replace'. should i delete the older 'update-script' and keep the 'updater-script'?
or should i rename the 'updater-script' to 'update-script'?
---------- Post added at 09:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:50 PM ----------
well i kept the name "updater-script" and deleted the other one. zipped back up (i hope right clicking and send to > zip is good enough) and tried to install.
aborted installation without an error.

Im comparing your zip to other zips, and yours is missing a update binary in the same folder the other script is

EDIT: I get an installation aborted error.
got the same error.
i wonder if its our CWM
I think I am soft bricked. Did a wipe, obviously after the failed update zip and after rebooting, I have no keyboard, at all.
Do a restore, because surely you backed up before testing an alpha rom
Anyone get it to boot?

You might have gotten a bad download. Maybe trying downloading the file again and flashing it?
So, did anyone get it to successfully boot? So far, no one has be really get it to work.

status 0 is a bad updater-binary, which can be from all sorts of things.

I installed AntonX's SGS4G Kernel with a Twist v1.1.3 which includes CWM. At first CWM was red (which I understand is the latest version. Then today I booted into CWM and the text was light blue. It still said v5.2.0.8 but I just thought it was weird. Did something go wrong or anything?
Also tried to flash a modded GB ROM and it came back with this:
ROM-sms-T959V-GB2.3.6-AntonX.1.1.3.zip

E: Can't open /sdcard/SGS4G Development/ROMs/ROM-sms-T959V-GB2.3.6-AntonX.1.1.3.zip (bad)

Thanks.

Something got messed up. Kernel 1.13 includes cwm blue. Was that the error you got when you were trying to install a different rom?

Could be a bad download, but you might also want to just keep the zip file in the root of the sdcard.
CWM might have a problem with that directory with a space in it! (not unix friendly!)
Your so smart bhundven I didn't even think about the directory.

Oh I didn't know 1.1.3 comes with CWM blue. Because I had AntonX's previous kernel (same kernel, previous version) and it had the red CWM, which I thought was the latest and/or best CWM (even though I'm pretty sure both are v5.0.2.8). Not true (that red is better)?
But no that's not the error I got, it was this:
ROM-sms-T959V-GB2.3.6-antsvx.1.1.3.zip
--Installing: /sdcard/SGS4G Development/ROMs/ROM-sms-T959V-GB2.3.6-antsvx.1.1.3.zip

That's what CWM said when I tried to flash the ROM.

Ok, so you are on the newer 1.1.3? or you are still having problems flashing.
Like I said before, directory names with spaces in them are bad. This is why cwm is failing to open the zip file.
Please either, change the space to an underscore '_' or move the zip file to the root of the sdcard.

I need some help with installing an OTA zip package.
It's this one from Samfirmware.

But I get an error while flashing it with Mobile Odin.
Code:
Checking ZIP file ...
Verifying system files ...
10 out of 581 system files do not match the signature checks in
OTA ZIP. Disable the checks (may prevent the device from
booting) ?
Then I press continue and I get the next error
Code:
assert failed: getprop
and many more but the tab reboots
I've also got the correct firmware installed. As you can see on this screenshot

from my experience with OTA flashing on p3100 i think you need to first flash the stock base rom as mentioned in thread and then from the stock recovery flash the OTA which should have been saved on the ext sd card, after flashing wipe data (factory reset) in recovery
or try latest version of MO

You should flash the stock ROM and boot into recovery, than flash the ota update. It doesn't work if you install clock recovery mod or you root. Only in stock ROM

I did this...
Hello, I got a notification that the new OTA update was available for the OPO. So I downloaded it and clicked on install, the phone rebooted and it began normally with the icon of installing the update, but on the first quarter it rebooted to the Cyanogenmod simple recovery and showed an error which I will type here. Furthermore it's worth mentioning that I rooted my phone, with TWRP.
The error:

assert failed: apply_patch_check ("/system/framework/core.odex","02f6c0e916ad7afea11678c3837c0a9e0c5ddfd6,"76a34383dd53ef9789ebd30eed41cdf11c03b7bf")

Hi,
If you have Lollipop installed, then it means you have an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery.
So you can just flash supersu from TWRP (or whatever custom recovery you have).

Go to developer options, enable root for apps. It is disabled by default but you have the functionality baked in. No need to flash anything in TWRP.

update errors... 'This package is for "rk3368" devices; this is a "PX5" '
Trying to update my unit from Android 8 to Android 9. Tried the simple and direct update but it failed. But, I didn't get the black screen. So, I made the bootable sdcard and tried that way. SD card runs, does it's thing, says it was successful and tells me to remove it to reboot. When I do, it goes to a black screen and nothing else. Even after leaving it sit for 30min. That SD flash process was waaaay fast for it to have actually flashed the image.
Now, I can't get the unit to do anything without that SD card.
I have found that if I pop the SDcard out between the logo screen and when the flash process starts it errors and takes me to recovery. From there, I've tried many different roms. Hal9k versions, Malaysk versions, stock 8.0, ota 9.0 for my device, and even a 6.1.1 version.
After going to "Installing update..." most give me an error "Warning: No file_contextsE3004: This package is for "rk3368" devices; this is a "px5"" then a couple of other errors before a (Status 7) Installation aborted.
All the roms that didn't do that have some kind of signature error. Likely need to redownload but haven't tried yet.
Not really sure what to try from here...
The device had the MCU of MTCE_GS_V3.01_3 when I started. I was able to update it to MTCE_GS_V3.40
The original build number was px5-userdebug 8.0.0 OPR5.170623.007 eng.hct.201812222.104950 test-keys though I suspect that doesn't really matter.
Couple photo screenshots.
First one is the error.
Second is what it says after the bootable sdcard runs. I see nothing there about installing the update.zip
Last is what I get sometimes if I eject the ad card too soon trying to get to the recovery menu.

And... I fixed it.
Didn't find anything for this error using the search here. Did a search on google and it linked me to a post on this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...5-mtcd-e-head-unit-discussion-thread-t3929597
A reply told the user having the same problem to follow the SD card instructions at the beginning of the thread.
Instructions were the same as what I already followed but the file linked in the first post is different.
So, went through the process again. Installed that recovery and then was able to actually flash Android 9 onto mine.
Now for the fun part of getting everything configured and decide if this custom rom is the rom for me, if I go with the other one, or if I go to a more stock one. Least I can listen to the radio again...
