relatively a noob with this stuff... first time poster...
so i just updated to franco kernel milestone3 via the FK app.
I'm running liquid toro v1.25 on a verizon Gn
I just bought a new battery and was priming it ... I drained fully, charged, and I'm on my second cycle of draining the battery.
I decided to update my kernel and did so through the FK app. worked great (hats off to franco and the community)
So once it updated and rebooted.. I notice my battery life went from 23% to 53%
not complaining but wondering why?
Did me updating the kernel affected the battery somehow
or is the kernel that much better that it's draining that much less
thanks-

I've been running MIUI for a couple of weeks now and I am seeing server battery drain for no reason. I see people posting 12 - 24 hours but I can barely get through 6 -8 hours without seeing a drastic death in battery life.
Also and I'm not sure if this may matter or not but when charging with the phone off my battery tends to charge incredibly fast.
Not sure what the issue is.
Try a different kernel that's my opinion
Kernel right now is 2.6.35.130 Trinity. Can you recommend another
.13 kernel is old in a way try to flash either fauxs or Showp kernel make sure there the cm7/aosp
I am on the latest miui 1.12.23. i have exellent battery life with there kernel. they have updated the kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295200&page=598 scroll down and dowload from pimp and be sure to clear cache and dalvik. and to help battery life install system tuner or setcpu from the market. i use system tuner. i think it works better than setcpu. Also download a battery calibration from the market. helped me alot on battery. hope this helps.
bricked 1.6 gives me amazing battery life

can you please define "amazing battery life"
Stupid question but have you cleared your battery stats file? While I was on MIUI (11.11) I was getting up to 24hrs easily (2450mAh battery) with normal usage

36-48 hours with normal/heavy use
I have updated to the official ICS (AT&T) and now I'm no longer getting much battery life. I had some issues with the update, so I wiped my phone and I have little to no apps.
I used to get 10+ hours of battery life, and now I don't even get 8 idle hours (so now it doesn't even last the work day). I checked Battery Usage after it was down to 20% and cell standby took up 90% of battery life.
I used to run JuiceDefender, but I reinstalled it on ICS.
Why have I lost so much battery life; how can I fix this?

I have noticed the same thing on the stock ICS. Also noticed very slow charge times using USB (possibly true with A/C charging but I am normally asleep when I charge with A/C).
Is this just caused by the bloat that they put in? I want to flash a custom ROM just for battery life at this point.

Im also seeing Cell Standby as a higher % than I used to.
install sky ics rom , this is the best battery . you can easy use more than 15hours . nexus mod 5.04 is also good . and much easier for noob to install . stock sucks .
Try Instigators Kernel. Does wonders for your SR battery....

Instigator's kernel is for AOSP (CM9/AOKP) so for ICS based official or roms you will need a different one such as mohan's kernel:

As for battery loss, there are some cases where if the flash wasnt done with 100% battery it could be reading the battery wrong and some people have had success with recalibrating their battery (look up battery calibration on play store). Now it was said that it really doesnt do anything for battery improvements and was just for stats use or whatever but for some people it helped their devices read the right battery stats.
So i recently flashed elementalX on stock rom on nexus5.So far idle battery drain is awesome it is 1%overnight(11pm-5am).I have attached the screenshot. On franco i used to get about 12%overnight drain with same apps installed.so my question basically is "What is the secret behind this cool idle drain on elementalX kernel??"
Aliens...
You should better ask that in the official ElementalX thread.
But yes, battery life on this Kernel is awesome. As is everything else with it.
hmm.. i dont use elementalx yet i stll get less than 1% drain overnight. im assuming that you never ran trinity kernel, where idle drain barely exists. anyways, its not kernel, its your setup.
Nexus5 SoT
well i guess we will never uncover the mystery behind this....btw 1 more thing "how can i get
6-7hrs of SoT on Nexus5...which rom, kernel,uv,etc setup should i use??
I've tried some of the kernels which are produced for S6 (G920F) in xda but after a while battery life gets worse and worse. It sometimes gets so bad that while screen is off (just music plays) battery level decreases and I can't understand the reason from the "Battery Usage" screen in settings. I know, it's related with both ROM and kernel, but I'm using Alexis ROM (and arter97 version 20.0) nowadays and I love it. Can you offer me the best kernels about power efficiency?
I'm using arter's kernel v20 too, but with Xtestrolite ROM and have quite a good battery life, playing Spotify all day and doing moderate browsing.
Do you find Alexis ROM better for battery life? Haven't tried it yet.
It's not worse than XtreStoLite ROM but I can't say better than it. How many hours SOT for you? Can you upload a screenshot here when your battery is at %1 or somewhere like that so that I can analyze how is your usage and is it efficient.
I can only do it on Thursday tho, got no time until then. Will edit once I get the screenshots. Also, I'm on Xtrestolite 3.2, not latest, too lazy to update.
Hello guys,
I have noticed some Battery Drain in my G920F since I have changed the stock kernel for Arter Kernel (I'm on Stock 6.0.1 rom).
But I don't think that Arter is the problem, I will explain to you :
I have migrated to Arter Kernel and the battery life was great (better than stock) but since some days (after 2-3 month of Arter) my battery does not take long, I need to charge my battery 2-3 times a day ! And I do not use it often because of my studies. I have checked the battery settings and the first battery utilization is the screen, I have calibrated my battery with this app : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
But nothing works !
Someone has a solution ? Maybe I have to change my Rom ? Any advice for a fast Rom and good battery life ?
Thanks in advance !
