Which kernel do you suggest for BEST battery life on G920F? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've tried some of the kernels which are produced for S6 (G920F) in xda but after a while battery life gets worse and worse. It sometimes gets so bad that while screen is off (just music plays) battery level decreases and I can't understand the reason from the "Battery Usage" screen in settings. I know, it's related with both ROM and kernel, but I'm using Alexis ROM (and arter97 version 20.0) nowadays and I love it. Can you offer me the best kernels about power efficiency?

I'm using arter's kernel v20 too, but with Xtestrolite ROM and have quite a good battery life, playing Spotify all day and doing moderate browsing.
Do you find Alexis ROM better for battery life? Haven't tried it yet.

It's not worse than XtreStoLite ROM but I can't say better than it. How many hours SOT for you? Can you upload a screenshot here when your battery is at %1 or somewhere like that so that I can analyze how is your usage and is it efficient.

I can only do it on Thursday tho, got no time until then. Will edit once I get the screenshots. Also, I'm on Xtrestolite 3.2, not latest, too lazy to update.

ROMs and battery life?

I don't want this to turn into a "my ROM is better" thread by any means... but as a newer ROM flasher, I was wondering how much difference a different ROM would have on battery life? I'm lucky to make it 8 hours on my Skyrocket right now even idling... and while I like the ROM I'm on now (Embryo), it's almost unusable as a device this way for me.
Thoughts?
ROMs definitely have an effect on your battery life, as they govern what's running in the background and how the system operates. Some ROMs are optimized for battery life, and some are optimized for performance. The OP and ROM thread will usually tell you which is which.
That said, if you're only getting 8 hours of battery life on Embryo 5, there's something else going on. Check the link in my signature for information on hunting down and wiping out wakelocks, and consider underclocking/undervolting and changing the governor.

you should check out the battery life help thread as it has almost every possible detail of enhance your phone battery performance. when im running embryo i always get around 22 hr with 2 hrs on screen so there something your missing. and every rom with have different battery performance not all because of the tweaks and rom enhancers but because of the user. a person who is surfing the web all day with little phone and text will easily drain battery. but a person who mainly running music social browsing talk text can easily get longer battery life.
No offense man but if embryo's rom is considered "unusable" then use another rom

Rom based around battery?

Hey im looking for a rom that is great on battery. I just got up an hour ago and my battery is already at 90%. I feel like its going down too fast. Im using Purity rom with greenify.
Hi,
Better is to try by yourself, battery life is mainly based on your own settings and usage. If you have some rogue apps, bad network reception and your brightness at 100% (it's an example but I think you see what I mean).... Whatever the rom it will be the same thing.
1 hour... 90%... all depends of what kind of wackelocks you have, synchro, etc...
There is a ton of thread about battery life, take a look in them for help.
And: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477889.
And also purity is awesome on battery life when I was using it... There are way too many factors to consider when talking battery life.

Stock Rom works very well. But it really does depend on the processes you run and the apps you install. Thus "best" becomes a relative term. If you have very bad network reception I'd recommend installing a kernel like Franco kernel. It stopped draining my battery even in areas of bad reception.
As it has been mentioned, battery life depends just as much on you and your usage / location / etc / etc.
Something tells me though that the roms that have in their title: Battery Saver Script might be something that focuses on what you are looking for. Just a shot in the dark...

One of those was literally on the front page of roms listed in Development.
I use omni rom with franco kernel r31 and I get 3 hours screen time with about 13 hours battery life most days. I use the internet a lot and text all day.
There are too many factors that affect battery life but also these threads are not allowed on XDA, as pointed out above. Try some out yourself and see which best suits your needs.

[Q] Battery life

Recently I've been experiencing absolutely terrible battery life. I lose about 1% every five minutes with the screen on - sometimes even faster - and find myself increasingly unable to last a full (work) day without having to plug in at least once. My current ROM/Kernel are LolliGPE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2716306) and Elite kernel from when I switched from stock Kit Kat back in December. It's worth noting that I haven't gotten around to updating either since their installation. I can't remember how my battery life was back in December nor before Lollipop, but I'm almost certain it was better than it was now.
My questions are:
What ROM/Kernel do you recommend for the best battery life?
Are there any apps I should check for and uninstall that drain battery?
In general, how can I increase my battery life?
Thanks!

1. Rom/kernel combinations in regards to battery life, or pretty much anything, is a completely subjective experience. You're better off trying different combinations for yourself and seeing what works best for you.
2. To see if you have any rogue apps, better battery stats probably does the best job showing what is using your battery. If an app is an issue it'll show you exactly what's causing it.
3. Best way to improve battery life is to monitor your battery stats with a battery monitor and try to control your wakelocks as much as possible. You can Google search exactly what process is keeping your phone awake and fix your problems one by one.
In my opinion, the three biggest things that truly affect battery life is mobile signal connection, Internet connection strength, and Google services such as Google now. Trying a different firmware version could increase your battery life as well as trying different rom/firmware combinations.
I'm running Adrenaline 1.2 with quantum kernel 1.25 on stock 4.4.4 firmware. I'm getting the best battery life I've ever had with that combo. Then again, in bright light where the screen has to run at full brightness and with a less than stellar signal, it will still eat through power pretty quickly. It's just the nature of the beast.
Odd I am stock non-root and see the best battery I have ever had with Android

After experiencing the same problem as yours with the two mentioned kernels, i seek for solution and found one. backup all my contacts, sms, call log, bookmarks, apps then i did a clean install of fluent rom based on sprint port cos i love lollipop and the two devices are similar in many ways. Surprisingly i get 6hours of usage with just 20% gone and at least about 3 -4 h screen on at the same time. so my advice is to try clean install.

Here are Buckmarble's own recommended settings with the Elite Kernel:
Governor: ragingmolasses
Ioscehd: fiops
Read ahead: 1024
UV: -24 across the board
2265 max 300 min
I use Trickster Mod to set these. I have heard that the frequencies don't stick, but I haven't bothered to check because battery life (running Fluent ROM 2.0) is stellar. I put my M8 on extreme powersave yesterday when it was at 100% because I'm testing a different handset and when I returned to the M8 late yesterday evening it was "all the way" down to 95%.

[Q] ROM + Kernel for Best Battery Life?

Hey I'm looking for the closest to stock ROM with the best battery life. Im not sure if i should stay stock and rooted (6.0.1) and go with franco kernel or switch to CM 13 (CAF?)...or something else even.
Id say my usage is about average, minimal usage while working, probably less than an hour talk time per day. Maybe 1-2 hours of screen on using various apps (browser, light games, news apps). Generally i make it through a day with about 20-25% left before i goto bed and plug it in to charge every night.
However when i do make more use of it the battery seems to deplete pretty fast. Ideally i would just like better battery life, its the primary reason i havent upgraded the phone yet. I dont need a faster phone, i need one that gets significantly better battery life.
Any recommendations would be great. Thanks

Your mileage will vary greatly depending on usage and what apps you use.
I have personally found that a good kernel is the key to good battery life. I'm a fan of Cataclysm and ElementalX personally.
Best battery life is with stock rom + stock kernel. Before i used custom kernels, but over a week now i have used stock rom with stock kernel and i must say that i get better battery life than before with customs. IMO.

SM-G920P - how to get better battery life?

My S6 is 1.5 weeks old. I have it rooted, using greenify, etc. The battery seems to drain faster than I'd like.
Any thoughts as to how to dramatically improve it?
Grain bettery life using Custom rom
Use Custom rom with battery Optimising kernel will help you .
