[Q] Trying to S-OFF with Locked Sensation XE HBOOT-1.29.0000 - HTC Sensation

Hey All...
last week was my sensation xe broken, I've brought it to support to demand warranty. Today I get a new one back, I wanted to have s-off and permanent root again. I'm so used to custom firmware.
Well I found out that my new lovely phone has a HBOOT version wich i can't find @google and the bootloader is locked. I tryed to S-OFF with revelutionary, but i didn't find the correct HBOOT version at "revolutionary.io"
Mybe anyone of you should help?
The Datas are:
HTC Sensation XE
Android-Version: 4.0.3
Software-Number: 3.32.401.105
Kernel-Version: 3.0.16-gda3fdfc, [email protected]#1, SMP PREEMPT Fri Feb 17 19:24:03 CST 2012
Baseband-Version: 11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M
Build.Number 3.32.401.105 CL309896 release-Keys
Bootloader:
***LOCKED***
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.29.0000
eMMC-boot
CID: HTC_102
Does anyone of you know how to S-OFF and permanent Root this kind of HBOOT?

Same here
I have a similar situation with my "normal" sensation, having HBOOT version 1.27.0000. Any help in this area would be very much appreciated!

also for 1.29 HBOOT...just confirmed with the JB devs ....through IRC

Wow. I've never heard of it either. Lesson learnt: Don't send your device to HTC Repair

Thanks for the adwise i gonna try this later... i'll post the results, then...
But, i'am skeptikal about to unlock the Device at HTCdev... is there any other method?
:banghead:
Yes... Of course.... But I had no other choice. It was a hardwere defect. I tried a lot to reanimate the device and then i choose that way else to throw my absolutely broken device in trash....
Thanks for the lesson
Is there anyone who tried succsesfully to S-OFF HBOOT-1.29.0000 on Sensation XE with junopunutbear?

me again...
so... iam on to s-off my sensation
but it didn't went well... iam trying to unlock my sensation XE z715e via htcdev
...i dont know what iam doing wrong...
When i flash the Unlock_token.bin i get the error massage:
"writing 'unlocktoken'... FAILED (remote: unlock token check failed)"
... yes usb-debugging is on, faststart is off and i copied the token a hundred times and it always prouced a new token...
Should this be a problem of htcdev or maybe its caused off the hboot version off my device?
any ideas?

Same problem, but im with hboot 1.27.

I'm getting the same. From what I've discovered it's either that this 1.29 HBOOT is so new that htcdev isn't updated to affect it, or that the sensation has changed internally and this new version is no longer supported (I got a new phone so could be the case, but my bet is the new HBOOT is too new).
I've just dropped a support request via htcdev, could be worth doing the same as anything that nudges them must help a bit: http://www.htcdev.com/contact

I think the new board is the reason. I sent in my sensation because of a broken volume button and dust under the screen and they did replace the mainboard too. Completly pointless

Yesterday ganeshp told me on IRC that we should try Simon's Wildfires Utility v2 to Unlock the new HBOOT version...
I'll test it later, when i have time... I'll post the results then...
The offer to wipe my stockrom is given, if some developer is interested in an image of the new bootloader version. Maybe it's helpfull to do research of it?

Apart from that, it uses tacoroot which is patched. Plus that the whole procedure won't work in newer hboots.
Im interested to take a look at the new firmware. When you get some time, join on irc

[Revolutionary] S-OFF your Desire S - NEW TOOL !

I've just found out about this tool.
It supports HBOOT 0.98.0000 and 0.98.0002. (It seems that there are some problems with 1.47.xxx ROM and 0.98.0002 hboot. Follow this guide first and then return here )
It's built by AlphaRev and unrevoked.
Go check it out: http://revolutionary.io/
Yup... found out from me....because i couldn't make my DS S-OFF again and i went in alpharev chat room and ....just asked )
Its a nice tool, and works! Unrevoked and Alpharev.. interensting
HAHA! I was waiting for this and I just did the downgrade and everything yesterday.
Sigh, what a laugh.
Any advantage over the old S-OFF, is it a newer HBOOT?
Same hboot... just that you don't have *** Alpharevx ***
Now you have *** Revolutionary *** on top of the bootloader screen
Well that's good I guess. I hate having out of date software
Work for me 0.98.0002
Thanks for great team
So is it worth flashing on top of alpharev

I don't think you can just "flash it" because it will probably say you are already s-off.
If you are s-off then there is no need to do anything... only if you get back s-on and want to get s-off.

Sorry I cannot offer support for this tool. Maybe you can try contacting them on irc.

If it says failed to root use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190992 to downgrade to rom with 98.0000 hboot and then use Revolutionary... Some ppl did this today here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185919&page=3 pages 3,4,5
But this tool should work with hboot 0.98.0002 too.
Yea it should , but as we can see, it wont work properly on 0002 . Maybe it wont work only on some new roms

It looks like it can't temp root any 1.47.x.x ROM.
Not yet, at least.
Without root access, it can't flash the hacked hboot.
Could you report this on their irc ? They don't know probably, so this way they can improve it's functionality.

[POLL] What HBOOT Version Are You Running?

Hey everyone,
It's come to my attention by a particular individual that our phone has shipped with two (or more?) HBOOT versions. If you could please let me know what version your phone is running by voting on the poll I would appreciate it. This is important for S-OFF exploit purposes.
not seeing the poll yet (I realize you just posted this), but my hboot version:
1.44.0007
Another 1.44.0007
and MICROP-0353
I think you should put the procedure to check the HBOOT just in case some people don't know.

Power down phone.
Remove battery.
Wait 5 seconds.
Re-insert battery.
Hold down VOLUME DOWN button while powering on phone.
This will bring up the H-BOOT screen. If you have quick start turned off you probably don't have to remove the battery but this is a pretty fool-proof way to get into H-BOOT.
1.44.0007 for my T-Mobile retail phone

I know. I just didn't want anyone to think there were actually 3 S-ON bootloaders floating around, considering the purpose of this thread was to help prepare for S-OFF via revolutionary.
Seems pretty unanimous so far.
If x.0006 is the S-Off Hboot, and x.0007 is the S-On that we all seem to have, what is 1.44.1107? Is there another version of this phone out there somewhere?
Edit: This seems to be the version you have after Rev S-Off
i have the 006 hboot as well (device was from an HTC training event). has any one procured root and flashed CWM with out S-ON'ing a device with the new bootloader, then running revolutionary? seems like going backwards to me...
No its not backwards. It works just fine. Just follow the directions here: http://revolutionary.io

Help an idiot out

so i unlocked my device via HTCDev.com thinking since its htc device and all they said was i had to unlock bootloader to flash custon OS's i already knew about S-OFF but being the site didn't talk about it(why would it) i went and flash virtouous ROM and got stuck at the HTC screen. i wasnt thinking so i never backed up the stock HTC Rom!!
now i tried 2 of those RUU's in the shipped rom thread the tmous ones with 29 and 50 both saying wrong version.
my question here is there anyway to get at least one RUU to work or get s-off from HBOOT?
my reason of doing this after going back to completely stock is i cant wait any longer for HTC/Tmobile to get us ICS so i tried the custom way and failed lol
I am sure unless you super SID you will have to find ROMs specific for the country the phone came from.
Eg my phone was from Asia region and I could not flash Euro ROMs
ok from the Shipped rom thread in the dev section for the sensation i was trying to go back to stock to gain s-off but the tmous(USA) which is where i am from said wrong version.

Check your CID using fastboot getvar cid to see if these still match the ROM you were trying to flash.
says for cid is t-mob010
i guess out of the 2 stock ruu"s from the post doesnt match that?
edit: ok from what i learned in another post i opened up the rom.zip file and looked at android-info.txt both the cid and mid matched my phones from the RUU file "RUU_Pyramid_TMOUS_1.50.531.1_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_223976_signed" buuuuttttt it tried to update it but fails saying i need to correct version :\

Yes i am. the 2 Ruu's i am using seem to have matching info to my phone when i went to get the rom.zip it uses to send to my phone and looked in the android-info.txt but tell me to get the correct RUU and try again. i got the from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559 under the tmous RUU one with 29 and the other 50.
so i am just stuck at the white screen with the word HTC. if i could get s-off and SuperCID through fastboot that would be awesome but googling it shows up that i cant s-off via fastboot ughhh
still no luck cant seem to flash anything without s-off or supercid
so looks like i am jumping the boat going to sprint this thursday and geting the iphone 4s...byebye android
If you can get into fastboot you should be able to flash RUU from there. Just download the RUU.exe and run it as administrator. Follow the prompts in the exe program while your phone is in fastboot mode.

Maybe iCrap is better for you. When you use Android phones and want to complete unlock them for flashing customroms aso you shoud realy learn to read before you do something. I hate it when people are not able to read about the stuff they want to do and when something goes wrong they blaim Android for it.
To get s-off, super CID and root on a HTC Android device is realy easy if you read the how-to threads and normaly takes about 15 minutes.
Have fun with your iCrap 4S and please don't try to jailbreak it before you read some stuff.

first off let me say i have rooted and flashed roms on my sensation before just fine. i was unlocking via htcdev.com and figured their method didnt require s-off since it didnt say anything about it. it just talked about unlocking it to put customs os's on it. 2nd i always had a love hate thing for IOS since i had the 3G and ipod touch.
far as using the RUU'ss it tells me i need the correct Ruu version or something like that. maybe because i didnt run as admin but i have all that stuff turned off due to the theme i used for windows 7 required it off.
If I were you I would Super CID your device. That is what I had to do. A great guide that I used was http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472298
i tried and i get this error
vreg_set: request is duplicated id 14

You can recover this. Firstly read this guide, regarding downgrading hboot and getting s-off.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23222794
The problems are due to HTC.dev not unlocking all parts of the boot loader - you can't flash radio.img or boot.img so nothing is working.

[Q] can someone help me?

i just bought a sensation, and now i'm a previous HD2 owner. so i'm not a noob, i hope.
so...unlocking bootloader and rooting and s-Off...which one to follow? the official on hTCDev website or the revolutionary way?! any difference between those?
please someone clarify some things, as i just became a sensation user, i have no idea about anything of these since HD2 is way different as i noticed and since there are a lot of info on the net, i don't wanna get into things i shouldn't.
i got a second hand sensation but it's still on factory default with android 2.3.4 and sense 3.0
really any help is greatly appreciated
If your HBOOT is supported by Revolutionary ALWAYS use that one...
I dont like HTCdev - It should only be used if your HBOOT is unsupported
Just have a good read through all the noob guides. Be sure of what you're doing before attempting anything...

Anyway, Revolutionary IS THEE best tool for S-OFF... providing your HBOOT is supported of course. Did you check to see if its supported ?
if you got hboot 1.18.0000 please use revolutionary method to unlock your boot loader. If you unlock your bootloader with htcdev method you will unlock somd parts of the hboot. not every thing. then you cant flash a custom kernel because it already locked boot.img and cant write a new file over it. thne you will get wifi, bluetooth problems. so unlock your bootloader with revolutionary.

S-OFF hboot 1.29.0000

So I sent my Sensation back to HTC to repair after i managed to ruin it replacing the screen myself. They did it under warranty which is ace, but not my new problem...
Basically I want to go full root and custom rom, but the device has come back bright and shiny with HBOOT 1.29.0000 (mar 2 2012) and none of my usual methods are able to unlock that.
I've spotted I've spotted the juopunutbear method, but no way am I connecting wires to hot points on my device, I'd rather be stuck with S-ON and wait for my next device.
Are there any other solutions / is revolutionary still under development?

JPBear is your only option at the moment, assuming it works on 1.29 of course.
It's pretty safe though, what the shorting does is activate some sort of download mode, it's also used for the unbricking project.

Unlocking with HTCDEV failed for me as well, maybe the 1.29 HBOOT is too new and isn't part of the bootloader unlocker yet? Either way I''d bet it's down to that, will get involved on your thread.

If it makes you feel any better about it, HTC does it every time they need to enter download mode to completely flash a new everything. It's not actually shorting anything, it's just connecting some pins together, and as the phone boots up, it's probably asking "Are these pins connected?" and if they are it enters download mode.
