[POLL] What HBOOT Version Are You Running? - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Hey everyone,
It's come to my attention by a particular individual that our phone has shipped with two (or more?) HBOOT versions. If you could please let me know what version your phone is running by voting on the poll I would appreciate it. This is important for S-OFF exploit purposes.

not seeing the poll yet (I realize you just posted this), but my hboot version:
1.44.0007

Another 1.44.0007
and MICROP-0353

I think you should put the procedure to check the HBOOT just in case some people don't know.

1.44.0007..........

Power down phone.
Remove battery.
Wait 5 seconds.
Re-insert battery.
Hold down VOLUME DOWN button while powering on phone.
This will bring up the H-BOOT screen. If you have quick start turned off you probably don't have to remove the battery but this is a pretty fool-proof way to get into H-BOOT.

1.44.0007 for my T-Mobile retail phone

Nice to see that revolutionary came through for the mt4gs... I hade a feeling it would

you're already running the S-Off bootloader. no one with 1.44.0007 has S-OFF that I'm aware of.

I know. I just didn't want anyone to think there were actually 3 S-ON bootloaders floating around, considering the purpose of this thread was to help prepare for S-OFF via revolutionary.

Seems pretty unanimous so far.

If x.0006 is the S-Off Hboot, and x.0007 is the S-On that we all seem to have, what is 1.44.1107? Is there another version of this phone out there somewhere?
Edit: This seems to be the version you have after Rev S-Off

i have the 006 hboot as well (device was from an HTC training event). has any one procured root and flashed CWM with out S-ON'ing a device with the new bootloader, then running revolutionary? seems like going backwards to me...

No its not backwards. It works just fine. Just follow the directions here: http://revolutionary.io

[Q] Difference between SHIP S-OFF and ENG S-OFF

I bought a used Inspire 4G , and I notice it states SHIP S-OFF, so I am wondering whats the difference between SHIP S-OFF and ENG S-OFF? Can I flash any Inspire 4G ROMs for SHIP S-OFF? ( I did flash Andriod Rev)

You can flash ROMs with S-off like you have now if you're rooted. ENG off is for flashing a new radio. Before you even think about flashing a new radio, read everything possible on here about it. It can be very risky and leave you with a bricked Inspire. Be aware of that before you dive into that ball pit.
Specifically, SHIP=Shipping bootloader
ENG=Engineering bootloader. Use ENG at your own risk.

You do not need eng s-off to flash radio firmware updates. Use the method in the hack kit as an example of how to do it with only radio s-off and a shipping hboot. It's easy, safer and more reliable than fastboot flashing.
The main advantage to eng hboot is for developers testing kernels. You can safely fastboot boot images. The average user has no good reason to be fooling with fastboot flash.

Ok - this is a great post because I need to return my Inspire to stock. When I go to bootloader I have:
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF
I'm still rooted because I want to use my Inspire for another couple of weeks before returning. I also have gotten rid of Radio S-Off because I'm not gonna flash any radio's from the stock one that I'm using now.
Is the above bootloader what the stock bootloader came with ?? In other words , if I flash over a stock RUU will I be ready for return ? I just can't remember what my bootloader said when I bought it (I would assume it was "S-On")

I doubt that most reps would check if your phone had S-off in the boot loader. As long as you have the stock rom on the phone when you return it in case they look at the functionality I pretty sure you are ok anyway.
Why bring it back though? What are you picking up instead?
Can someone post a tutorial on how to get radio s-off? Do you need to go back to complete stock?

s-off, or s-on? To get s-off, just follow the hack kit instructions.
I did follow the hack kit. What I'm trying to do is get radio s-off. What I'm asking is, should I follow the hack kit, and then restore the Desire HD stock ROM and run the Desire HD hacks for radio s-off?
so i have eng s-off and flashed a new radio, is there any danger of having eng s-off if it is not tinkered with?
Why do all of my questions go unanswered? Do i smell bad?

You've lost me. If you followed the hack kit, then you should have radio s-off already and have a rooted ROM with the ability to run most any "hack" you want.
If you've followed the hack kit and are rooted and now want to go back to stock with radio security back on, then that's something entirely different.

There shouldn't be. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the danger is in what you can accidentally mess up through bootloader commands when you have eng s-off. Normal flashing of ROMs, ect. shouldn't pose any threat.

Finally got it working. I re-ran the hack-kit.
Just flashed the newest test radio (running CM7 test 22) and I have to say, the speeds, up and down, are amazingly fast compared to the stock radio. I'll post more impressions later.
Also picked up a 1600MAH battery. So far, so good.

You don't NEED ENG S-Off to flash a radio
See this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002226) thread
You can just use a PD98IMG.zip and flash through HBoot - much safer this way. If you really want, here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403) is the one click ENG S-Off tool

[Revolutionary] S-OFF your Desire S - NEW TOOL !

I've just found out about this tool.
It supports HBOOT 0.98.0000 and 0.98.0002. (It seems that there are some problems with 1.47.xxx ROM and 0.98.0002 hboot. Follow this guide first and then return here )
It's built by AlphaRev and unrevoked.
Go check it out: http://revolutionary.io/
Yup... found out from me....because i couldn't make my DS S-OFF again and i went in alpharev chat room and ....just asked )
Its a nice tool, and works! Unrevoked and Alpharev.. interensting
HAHA! I was waiting for this and I just did the downgrade and everything yesterday.
Sigh, what a laugh.
Any advantage over the old S-OFF, is it a newer HBOOT?
Same hboot... just that you don't have *** Alpharevx ***
Now you have *** Revolutionary *** on top of the bootloader screen
Well that's good I guess. I hate having out of date software
Work for me 0.98.0002
Thanks for great team
So is it worth flashing on top of alpharev

I don't think you can just "flash it" because it will probably say you are already s-off.
If you are s-off then there is no need to do anything... only if you get back s-on and want to get s-off.

Sorry I cannot offer support for this tool. Maybe you can try contacting them on irc.

If it says failed to root use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190992 to downgrade to rom with 98.0000 hboot and then use Revolutionary... Some ppl did this today here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185919&page=3 pages 3,4,5
But this tool should work with hboot 0.98.0002 too.
Yea it should , but as we can see, it wont work properly on 0002 . Maybe it wont work only on some new roms

Not yet, at least.
Without root access, it can't flash the hacked hboot.
Could you report this on their irc ? They don't know probably, so this way they can improve it's functionality.

[Q] can someone help me?

i just bought a sensation, and now i'm a previous HD2 owner. so i'm not a noob, i hope.
so...unlocking bootloader and rooting and s-Off...which one to follow? the official on hTCDev website or the revolutionary way?! any difference between those?
please someone clarify some things, as i just became a sensation user, i have no idea about anything of these since HD2 is way different as i noticed and since there are a lot of info on the net, i don't wanna get into things i shouldn't.
i got a second hand sensation but it's still on factory default with android 2.3.4 and sense 3.0
really any help is greatly appreciated
If your HBOOT is supported by Revolutionary ALWAYS use that one...
I dont like HTCdev - It should only be used if your HBOOT is unsupported
Just have a good read through all the noob guides. Be sure of what you're doing before attempting anything...

Anyway, Revolutionary IS THEE best tool for S-OFF... providing your HBOOT is supported of course. Did you check to see if its supported ?
if you got hboot 1.18.0000 please use revolutionary method to unlock your boot loader. If you unlock your bootloader with htcdev method you will unlock somd parts of the hboot. not every thing. then you cant flash a custom kernel because it already locked boot.img and cant write a new file over it. thne you will get wifi, bluetooth problems. so unlock your bootloader with revolutionary.

I'm getting the same. From what I've discovered it's either that this 1.29 HBOOT is so new that htcdev isn't updated to affect it, or that the sensation has changed internally and this new version is no longer supported (I got a new phone so could be the case, but my bet is the new HBOOT is too new).
I've just dropped a support request via htcdev, could be worth doing the same as anything that nudges them must help a bit: http://www.htcdev.com/contact

It's not just the hboot that needs to be updated, a full update of the firmware is required so you need to run an RUU. In order to do this safely you need to get s-off first. Is your phone an att model? Do you have SuperCID?
PS. I realise that you might not have a great deal of time on your hands, but it is your responsibility (and XDA rules) to search before posting.
PPS. I'm not helping you because you're offering a reward, and in my opinion nor should anyone else be.

+1 on this.
If you are S-off, just run the RUU and you are good to go. You'll have to reinstall custom recovery, since RUU writes stock recovery to the phone. But that's really it.
If you aren't S-off, the process is very easy. But it requires SuperCID, which if you don't already have SuperCID might be a bit more involved.
BTW, if you are SuperCID and S-on, do not run a Jellybean RUU, as it will brick the phone.
