I have Google voice on my Samsung galaxy s2 t989 running 2.3.6
How do i tell the difference between my incoming call from my regular cellphone number and my Google voice line they both appear the same???
As capable and flexible as GV is, this is one of the things I don't believe you can do with it.

So I am an avid google voice user, and I upgraded my incredible to the OMGB-6 ROM, and I don't know what's going on. There is no longer a Google Voice app in the Market (I guess it's not compatible with gingerbread yet) however every once and a while I will get a call from Google Voice that has the CORRECT caller ID and when I answer gives me all of those voicemail options. However, text messages arent going through at all, even though in my settings it is setup to forward the text messages to the phone. Please note that the account my phone is setup with is the same gmail account that I use to login to Google Voice.
What's going on here?
Thanks,
Max

For those of you who don't know, Dell recently released a google voice competitor called Dell Voice
http://www.dellvoice.ca/
It allows you a local number in most of the major cities in Canada. Giving you free calling across canada as well as voice mail. You can also port your number.
My question is this:
Last I checked, you can get google voice in canada if you have a calgary (403) phone number. Could we use the dell voice 403 phone number in conjunction with google voice? I know this seems very convoluted but would it work?
Thanks............
I don't see why you couldn't link the two services together as long as they are both compatible with regular phone lines. I don't think this is a real competitor to google voice though. It looks like more of a skype competitor but without the bells and whistles like video, texting, etc. I'm a huge google voice user, and probably the only thing that would make me switch to another service would be MMS capability, but that is supposedly coming. It's been years with no MMS though...
As an iphone user and a heavy google voice user I'm a bit frustrated at how google voice can't integrate with my iphone. On the iphone I will have to open a third party app or the official GV app to make a call/send it text via google voice. That's fine but the problem on the iphone is you can't choose the native apps or change the default system actions. Thus when you want to send a link to the webpage via sms the iphone will automatically use it's own client and your default carrier number, when you want to dial out using voicecommands or a bluetooth headset you'll dial out using the native iphone caller client and your default carrier number (you get the gist of this).
I know that andriod phones have varying degrees of google voice integration. I know some phones give you the option of choosing between your numbers when you dial out and stuff like that. My question is how does this work on newer phones and phones with jellybean? If I want to text a link from my browser using my google voice number - can I do so directly or do I need to go about the roundabout way of copying the link and pasting it from say the google voice application? If I want to make a handsfree call from my headset using my google voice number - can this be easily done? I know jellybean has the feature where you can send a handsfree text message - can I do so from my google voice number (not the default carrier number)?
Does this integration carry over to third party apps? If you want to send a link from within an application will you be able to do so directly using your google voice number? If you use a driving hands free assistant link vlingo can you designate your outgoing texts and calls to be your google voice number.
Thanks guys and sorry for the cluster of questions.
is there a way to have all messaging in 1 app? i have a google voice number, but i don't use is anymore. just use gvoice for the visual voicemail. i use talk for chatting and the stock messaging through my carrier to text non-google friends. would be nice if everything was in 1 app.

Hi Everybody,
I've done my due diligence and have researched.. and unfortunately have found that MMS receiving through Google Voice is just not possible at this time. I've searched around and have a few questions. They stem from the fact I'm now on the T-Mobile 100 minute 5GB 4G $30 Prepaid plan..
1. I doubt it, but does anyone have a work around for this? I'd really like to use my Google Voice number for EVERYTHING - it's really annoying to contact everyone saying I got a new number and such.
2. The new Google Hangouts Dialer.. I see that it supports 'free' calls. Thus far I've made a few using my Google Voice number. Currently, it is only possible to place calls through this service through your Google Voice number and not through your ACTUAL carrier-provided number, correct?
Thanks guys.
