I just bought the inspire 4g today and now my voicemail just gets a busy tone, i think it's because i'm still on my iphone visual voice mail unlimited plan. I also tried to get google voice to work as a work around but that gets a busy tone too. If anyone remotely knows how to fix this without calling att please let me know because i don't want to take the chance of losing my unlimited plan. Thanks for all your help in advance.
You won't lose your unlimited if you call ATT. I called today to be switch to the unlimited 4g and they told me I was grandfathered into the unlimited. So I kept it.
Thanks that makes me feel so much better.
Just call customer care to fix your voicemail. When you switched it removed the iPhone visual voicemail but does not automatically add the standard voicemail feature on the phone. Care can take care of it in a snap. The downside si if you had any messages saved they are now lost.
to get a real visual voicemail like on the iphone download youmail (free) in the android market. It works like a charm
I use Phone Fusion Voicemail+. It is the bomb.
i had this same problem, they said the voicemail never got swiched from iphone's visual voicemail package.
Google Voice. Topic over.
I'm having the same problem. I'm going to call ATT tomorrow and get it fixed.

The minute I save up enough to buy my Sidekick 4G, I'm heading for this deal.
Right here.
A quick little excerpt
The new flexible and affordable plan will provide Walmart customers with access to America’s Largest 4G Network™. In a survey of Walmart customers, approximately 60 percent cited that having a high-speed data network was a key factor in the purchase of a wireless service plan. With this new offering, available for $30 per month and no annual contract, customers can enjoy unlimited Web, with the first 5 GB at up to 4G speeds; unlimited text; and 100 minutes of talk, with 10 cents per minute after the first 100 minutes.

Thought I might add that this will work with any 4G enabled T-Mo phone... just that you would have to pay the no contract price for the phone.
Nice find dude! That is actually worth cancelling my contract for, I barely use any minutes and pay about $60 a month now. if I cancel it's like $200 but I will be saving $30 a month so:
30x18= 540- 200= $340 of savings and no contract!!
Tnx dude for telling us. I am definately going to switch to that plan!!!!

I'm actually shocked you guys didn't hear about it. I heard about it a while (I posted the article on my FB the 3rd) ago, but I posted it here to make conversation. I'm glad you guys were notified, because this is a killer deal imo.
so let me get thiz straight if u want that deal you have to go to walmart only to get it?
See, that's I'm not entirely sure about. It does say Exclusively at Walmart and it;s online store, as well as T-Mo's website, but how will you get the SIM card? Will it be shipped out to you?
I guess well just have to wait and see on the 16th. I'm going to go to a walmart store and check online nd see if I get it.

That is exactly me! I never owned a 4G/3G phone before (I have the LX before they canned data, now it' sucks ) but I know I'm a HEAVY texter and I love to use data.
I asked my friend, who is on Sprint with the Evo if he uses 5GB/m, and he said he averages 3~4GB, so I know 5GB will probably be more than enough for me (Esp since there's wifi for data hogging things like video streaming)
And when I'm at home, I can just use the home phone, thus saving me on the 100 minutes when people like your girlfriend wanna "Hear your voice" -__-
wow great find! That's not a bad deal for people who don't talk as much as they text!
So how do I go about getting this now?

How do you get the new plan?

I dont get it. I go to change my plan online via the mytomobile, but that option isnt there. It says webonly when I view the monthly plans and I dont understande how Im not able to just switch to that plan -_-
Ok i did a live chat with someone from T-Mobile and they said that I have to go to Walmart and get the sim card activation kit. He had told me to just order it off the Tmobile website then he said that he was told that I would need to buy it from walmart. which is really inconvenient for me since I had to travel from my small town to a town with a Tmobile store /:

Call walmart and see if they can ship it to you
Would this plan allow you to use Wi Fi calling without using your plan minutes?
No it won't, wifi calling always uses minutes unless you use a diff. App

Voip Google Voice apn modding over 3g and 4g?
Saw that on t-mob 2g this will work fine for VOIP... what is t-mob doing to block or interrupt stuff like grooveip (VOIP) from snrb labs(avaliable on android market for 4.99). I read something about having to modify APN or something

I haven't heard anything about that, I don't think they have caught on to it yet (they are just catching up to tethering and that's been around since 2008 on the G1) I know google voice works good, the one thing they said is you might not get as good of reception on prepaid because they borrow towers but I live in the city and get good 4g where I live/work, I think he might've been BSing me to get me to not cancel my contract though
Just wondering if anybody has been able to get visual voicemail working on the Infuse? Can't search too well from this phone app so my apologies if this has been beaten to death before. Would love to get this working on the wife's Infuse.

att doesn't offer it other than the iPhone but Google offers Google voice which you setup from the gmail site and download the app. and there is also youmail but for youmail you have to pay for transcriptions to make it readable. if money wasn't an object the youmail transcription service is much better than Google voice but Google voice is free. good thing att doesn't surcharge for call forwarding, but the length of the forwarded call is counted towards minutes as far as I understand.
for Google voice you may need to find a dialer code on the gmail site and punch it into the phone. sometimes it wont set its self up.
Try PhoneFusion voicemail +. It is free
I can vouch for Google voice. Its pretty cool to have a widget with your voicemail on your homescreen that you can check every now and then. However the transcription really isnt that great. Most of the time it will give wrong words or "this message cannot be transcribed at this time" message. i would try youmail out. Its free if you dont want the transcription service. so you can still see the calls missed and listen to the messages on-demand. which is just as good as gv. last i checked thought the interface on the free version had ads.
I have used YouMail for a while and I love it. Haven't tried anything else though because YouMail does everything I need very well.

all the at&t LTE android devices, GSII Skyrocket, HTC Vivid, etc... all now have visual voicemail
For Rogers users, they have announced a visual voicemail service for android. Granted, the initial support is for a two or three phones but the potential is there.
"Rogers customers who have an iPhone have been using Visual Voicemail for a while now. Rather than dialling into your voicemail all the time, the service gives you the ability to listen (via audio file) or read (via text) the voice messages people leave on your device. New details have emerged that indicates Rogers will be expanding the service to BlackBerry and Android devices, plus any handset that supports picture messaging. The app is called “Visual Voicemail Plus” and is scheduled to be available in February – the main feature will give owners the option to save a voicemail message for an unlimited period of time. However, there are some limitations at launch – BlackBerry users who have the Bold 9700 and Torch 9800 will be the only supported devices. As for Android devices, the Sony Ericsson X10 and the Samsung Galaxy Q are the chosen ones."

google voice is excellent. much better than any other offerings ive seen. ive been using it for about 2 years now. text transcriptions are great and they dont delete your messages after 14 days.
someone on the htc vivid thread had said you can use visual voice mail on any phone by changing the apn or someting.. the instructions there, my phones always had visual til this one.
Too bad Google Voice is not available in Canada.

Ok, I have a question. My daughter has an iPhone and I was helping her set up her email on it when she got a phone call during the process. I did not answer it, but when they left a message I was very impressed by the way the iPhone displayed the message on the phone. there was actually a list of all of her v-mails and it listed who they were from and what not.
I am sure we do and I just don't know it, but do we have anything like this?
There are a few apps out there, but many will probably recommend using google voice and activating the voicemail transcribe feature.
Isn't that Visual Voicemail? If so AT&T charges extra for it.

That is called Visual Voicemail. AT&T had this set up exclusively for iPhone since iPhone's inception into AT&T, and to make data mandatory. They haven't expanded to other phones, yet.
Google voice can do something like this, and it doesn't set the popup in the middle of the screen, it shows up in the dropdown bar.
I'll post a pic shortly.
What you are looking for?
Google voice is free for voicemail. I use it. AT&T does have a visual voicemail option that you can add to your plan, but why do that when GVoice is free. (Note: I am using CM7, so idk what difference it'll make if you are on a stock ROM)
there is visual voicemail on the newest phones as far as what I've heard. Google voice is free and att doesn't surcharge for forwarded calls. att isn't so bad. for the money you get coverage and little perks like this. try Google voice on sprint see what the phone bill comes out to be with all the forwarded calls.
Thank you all! That is pretty much what I am looking for.

Funny thing is that we have Sprint Voicemail. It's an app that downloads the voicemails to your phone and uses the data of your phone. but rememember, I have unlimited data so it works perfect. It's included in the unlimited data. plus, forwarding is including in most of the plans. So, if you're on Sprint, there's no need for GVoice.
I know this does not relate to the sgs4g and I don't want to stir anything up here, if it does I expect this thread to get deleted, I know it was brought up earlier here and just wanted to share.

Port your T-Mobile number to Google for $20 or settle for a free Google voice number. Groove IP and talkatone both are free unlimited wifi/data calling apps...I prefer talkatone myself.

$340 bucks so far. Looks like it's a good bounty!
Dell voice works great for me. I chose that though because it's available in Canada and in my city.
