Hyundai A7HD ICS tablet (A10)
Greetings...
I got this slate for a small bucks, and i would like to make it usable as much as it can be. Since i can't download a lot of apps from google play (which came preinstalled), im sure it has something with build.prop file.
I have attached my original build.prop file so maybe someone can help me. I tried to change manufacturer and model only (to Samsung, GT-P6210) but id didn't solve problems.
Thank you in advance.
Hi,
I ordered this tablet week ago, so I`m also interested in this subject.
What exactly is the problem? You cant download any app because of the region code ? How exactly does this problem occur ?
About that build.prop - I`m not an expert , I own sgs i9000 (previously zte blade) and I see that indeed there are many lines that point to the Asia region for this tablet - maybe this is the problem? Still, explain how exactly does this problem occur ? What messages does the system give to you.
Thank you,
update rom for A7HD
A7HD update ROM have been released, but it is a Chinese web site. Hope you guys can understand.

I'll check new firmware.
Does anyone know is it possible to put another battery (replace the current one) with more capacitive one?
Firmware + Root - A7HD
Hi,
First, Can you teach me how to flash a new firmware ?
I used LiveSuit 1.07, but no luck. My device keeps showing an image of a fallen Android" with a red warning triangle.
Btw, the combination that I used was hold "Esc" and power it on. Instruction from here: http://www.flashmyandroid.com/forum/showthread.php?730-ROM-Hyundai-A7-HD-Firmware-ICS-4-03-20120420/
Second, may I how did you root your A7HD ?
Is wifi really weak or is it just me? Also sound through speakers is not loud enough?

Yes, it is a common issue, maybe due to design, they put in a smaller wifi adapter, hence, maybe weaker than usual (even than common mobile phones)
Sound seems ok

Hello
I got the Hyundai tablet last weekend and I am realy happy with it.
The only thing I wish is WiFi to be better. It seems it is realy week. 2 meters from the router and WiFi indicates less than half.
If I try from another room behind a wall - no connection
On my mobile I connect even from the street.
Have you heart of some incoming upgrade to fix that?
Thanks
Tzvetan
The poor quality WiFi is the only thing that is holding me back from buying one.
Signal strength is not that good in my home and I am afraid that this device may not work at all in some rooms.
I wonder if Hyundai is interested in producing ongoing updates in dealing with this and any other possible issues. So many of these Chinese manufacturers have a take it or leave it approach.

Well, I cannot get WiFi behind the wall in another room
It is only working in the room, where the router is.
I do not know if this is a general weakness for this model Hyundai tablet, or it is only mine. I would like to know that, so I could ask for a replacement with another.
Are there others with the same problem?

Well, this doesnt help you with signal strength but could improve responsiveness of your wifi, even with weak signal, check out my short tutorial:
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/33277-tut-hyundai-a7hd-and-others-a10-wifi-performance-increase-and-wifi-battery-usage-decrease-testedworking/
hope this helps anyone as it helped me a lot
Now even with weak signal my A7Hd is able to use internet

Sorry for the false alarm fokes.
I'm going to just tough this one and keep it. If I have bluetooth problems...so be it. Compared to the entire phone quality....it might be worth the sacrifice.
Thanks again dysolve and benjimen!!!
why not wait for the htc rom release? I have had my TC for three months and every issue I have had seems to have been fixed with rom upgrades
You might want to word your sales pitch a bit differently
Kenjari said:
Well, I have had it with this TC. I have tried flashing a new Radio, tried Murata's ( I didnt try a new ROM cause I dont think it will make much difference). I purchased a new bluetooth headset.
And nothing has worked to stop the choppiness and static to my headset. I'm convinced now that it is a hardware problem. Its not that it doesnt work but it is just annoying. Maybe it is probably the phone size and the antenna isnt as big....whatever the case I'm done.
I'm selling this damn thing.
So before I post online....I thought I might offer it to anyone interested in buying it here.
If you need pics I will post.....I will through it up for $450.00
BTW...purchased it three weeks ago so its still damn near new!!!!

Your right benjimen, I guess if I want to get rid of it, I shouldnt let my frustration destroy a potential sale. Thanks for the advice.
dysolve thanks for the reply. I have done so much, outside of ROM flash. Have you had the problem I am experiencing? If so, how did you fix it?
There are to many ROM's on this forum, and I havent found a ROM that might address my particular bluetooth fix. I'm certain HTC pushed out some crappy roms but I'm not sure if this is a ROM problem or an hardware problem.
Besides, I'm trying to find this one post that has a list of all the available ROMs to see if the OS I'm using in there. But I cant locate it anywhere.
Hello SGS lovers and developers!
So, many of you will be aware of the Sony Ericsson LiveView gadget that has just recently gone on sale (im in the UK and got my pre-order unit yesterday). For those that are not, its essentially a secondary AMOLED display connected to your android 2.x handset by bluetooth. Its supplied with a watchstrap in order to give it some sort of geek chic (i think).
Well it works! It is definitely cool.
That said, as is frequent nowdays, the product is rushed to market before its ready. The marketing coupled with the time of year as well as the marvelously low pricepoint (£50) means i expect they will shift loads of them in the coming weeks now that it has been released. Sadly, the software is nowhere near ready IMHO.
If you read around this forum you will see that the main issues regarding this product is its bluetooth connection which is quite frankly, pants. My SGS seems happy with the device for maybe 60% of the time, the rest of the time it is absurd. Now i fully understand that any software revisions by SE will likely improve on this, but it is my understanding that it is the actual bluetooth stack in the SGS that is the root of the problem as it zaps almost all the CPU. Every few hours, the phone starts to vibrate constantly for about 30 seconds (or more) and then generally locks up usually resulting in a battery pull. Not ideal.
Many users want to send theirs back for a refund. For me, i would rather impress my mates but i need it to bloody work for that!
Not being a developer i thought i would challenge you all (those that are interested anyway) to investigating how we can improve this. SGS (Eclair) is publicaly listed as compatible by SE.
With time (and its Sandbox SDK) i know this product has great potential both practically and as just tech bling! Even though apps and functionality are a little limited for now, when it does work, its great!
Oh and btw i am running UK SGS with Darkys 4.0 Voodoo FROYO ROM.
Anyone got any ideas on how to improve it?
Sorry but, you can only post in development if you have cooked a ROM etc. Questions should be in Q&A.
Thanks, its been moved.
Does anyone have any update on this device, specifically if it works better with the Froyo update?
I think it looks pretty slick if it works well I would buy one.

Im in the same boat as you buddy. Apparently SE is gonna release an update for the liveview this month and its supposed to be major, aimed mainly at supporting the various android phones over bluetooth as the problem is common. I've tried it with my GS, x10i and a Dell Streak. Works sometimes, and then fails jus like u described on all. Lets hope the update coming out this month is FIRSTLY on time and SECONDLY works!
just google - liveview update, shld b the 1st hit...
Just to inform you:
I use the LiveView with the update since tuesday. Few connection issues, working really good.
Only Problem is: Using the LiveWare App provided by Sony Ericsson let's my Phone crash or slow down all the time. Just uninstaledl it and start the LieView App manually when needed and no Probs with that any more.
I have one question, is it worth buying the liveview for the sgs.
I hear that it drains that the battery a fair bit even when showing only time. Can someone confirm ?
it does not drain battery that much at all. While connected to the live view, If you look at the bluetooth connection icon in the status bar, you wont even notice that it is connected to the live view. Where as if you are connected to a bluetooth headset you would see that there is a constant bluetooth connection icon.
Also would like to add that I have upgraded the firmware of the live view unit and it seems a little more stable with the connection. But still freezes up occassionally when not in use and connected. Still needs improvements if you ask me.
To those wondering if you should buy it now. I recommend that you hold off for a while untill there are further updates from SE. I am currently on Darky's ROM 9.3 b3 and have tried it the live view with all Darky releases since 8.0 or so I think.
I've just got back from looking at the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" on display in the Carphone Warehouse.
Has anybody else noticed that the screen doesn't respond smoothly to pinch-to-zoom gestures in Google Maps? I tried exactly the same thing on a couple of other tablets on display - e.g. TF Prime, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and they responded exactly as I would expect. The errant behaviour I noticed was that the zoom didn't always change the way I expected it to - some gestures resulted in wildly different zoom levels than I was expecting, and it just didn't do a good job of tracking two fingers at once. (Just sweeping one finger over the screen was okay so far as I could see.)
For some reason, the stock web browser seemed to be pretty well behaved. I tried rebooting the device, but that didn't seem to make any difference. Have Samsung cheaped out on the input digitiser, or was the unit in the store faulty?
I'd appreciate any feedback - at £200 I was walking into the store ready to buy one, but my experience with Google Maps really put me off.
I would never use a store model as a performance benchmark. They are good for getting a physical feel for the device but when you have a popular device that just came out that tons of people are using, installing different (Possibly malicious) apps, and just basically abusing they tend to never perform the way they will when you actually own the device.
I will test out maps myself but I believe this device is plenty fast enough for anything you throw at it.
Thanks for taking the time to reply, and for agreeing to give it a go - I look forward to hearing your impressions...
I don't have any issues with Google Maps on my tablet. I haven't used it that often, but I don't notice anything unusual when zooming in and out.
I made a video and went to post it to youtube but it's not letting me. Basically Maps is smooth as butter. I had no trouble zooming in and out and moving around the entire map. No lag at all.
Thank you both for your responses, it's been very helpful to get some real world opinions! I clearly need to give this tablet a second chance.
I'll report back soon once I've made a second visit to the shop...

I would definitely say at least restart the tablet before you start using it. Makes a world of difference.
It's my experience that this tablets screen is a little unresponsive. My phone has a very responsive screen as compared to the tablet and when I use the tablet with a mouse all the issues go away. I use a Logitech mouse (M110) I bought locally for under $10.00 with this tablet. When using the mouse there is no lag and unresponsiveness.
I still think this tablet is great and am very happy using it daily especially with the app "tablet talk" installed.

I have to agree. Sometimes it's perfect. Sometimes it acts like it's doing something else and too busy to respond. It seems to be most prominent in the all the different browsers I've tried. And it seems to get worse as I add more apps - though I never get past more than half-a-dozen or so before it becomes so bad that I give up and start over. I've tried to isolate it to one specific app, but it even does it in a box-stock configuration. Performing a factory reset fixes it for a time, and then it gradually starts to degrade again.
Sadly, I'm returning it.

wow never had anything close to this
I notice a stutter sometimes when I am loading the screen up from sleep with the widgets, but after that its fine and I purposely never reboot just to see how it all lasts.
Reboots seriously do help me though. My home screen will be laggy about hallway through the day but I reboot and then, its smooth.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond. It almost sounds like there could be a couple of hardware versions out there. Is there any way to find out, as one does with Device Manager in Windows, what the exact hardware configuration is of an Android device? A useful app from the market?
Does ICS come with an easily accessed CPU usage monitor? It sounds like the screen response might be worse when the processor is loaded up...?
(I'm also not familiar enough with Linux to know what command lines might work, if there's no app which would show hardware configuration.)
I'm hoping to get back to the Carphone Warehouse tomorrow, and will ask the salesperson nicely if it's possible to try a new device that hasn't been put out on display...
I'm pretty sure it's bad form to keep replying to your own topic, but here goes anyway!
My plans changed at the last minute this morning and I had another chance to visit the shop. I discovered the CPU usage overlay in the developer options, and noted that when idle there didn't seem to be any gremlins sucking up all the CPU time. Maps was still a problem, and the gallery was a bit wonky too. It might just be me, but I also found precision selection (e.g. picking a hyperlink out of small text in the browser) to be a little less likely to succeed than I expected.
I wanted to speak to the staff about looking at another example of the P3110, but they were generally uninterested and I had to get back to work after hanging around for 20-30 minutes. Anyway, after looking at their returns policy, it seems like you have no rights to a return an item you buy in-store unless there is a fault which you can convince the staff about. Given their lack of interest in the problem when I brought it up on my last visit, I'm not really willing to risk that!
I'd suggest that anyone interested in buying one of these tablets does so over the phone or internet, because you then have a 14 day return period. The Carphone Warehouse terms and conditions state that if you want to return a tablet ordered online or on the phone that you must adhere to the following:
"Tablets:
* You can turn the tablet on and try it out. But you can't make any calls or send texts or emails, or add anything to its memory (such as saving numbers or taking a photo)
* The tablet must be returned in its original condition"
...So presumably, keep it clean and do a factory reset before you take it back!
For my part, I wouldn't want to buy one without a get-out clause, so I will be considering this option.
To conclude:
After this second visit, I think that many people would be fine with the device - it does respond to your inputs, it's just that under some circumstances it might take two or three goes to get the desired response. With a little patience this is not a problem at all, and considering the price point it's probably acceptable.
Unfortunately, I guess I'm not so patient as I once was - I'm too used to the way that my Galaxy S (Stock 2.3.5 ROM, XXJVT) responds to inputs, and I'd rather not take a step backwards. Ultimately, I'm now considering combining my desire to have a small ICS tablet with a mobile phone upgrade, in order to justify a Galaxy S III with its larger display (once the blue version is fixed/available).
Samsung would probably be happy with this outcome - after all, I'm now talking myself into spending £500 on one of their products instead of 'just' £200!

Intuitively, the first thing I checked. In my case, nothing obvious indicated by the built-in task manager. I even tried using the setting Developer Options -> Do not Keep Activities
I hadn't seen that before, but it didn't help.

It reminds me of the first attempt by VZW/Moto at rolling out GB on for the Droid X. Some people praised it. Others cursed it. Some people got a new X2.
I was a cusser. Happily humming along now, still on FroYo.
It's true, though. Hardware continually gets revised and updated - not always for good. It could be as simple as changes in tolerances, or supplier's manufacturing processes.
Hello XDA Community
Before I start, I'd like to mention that I've thoroughly searched the forums for an answer and got no luck.
I recently bought a chinese tablet from ebay of model number IRULU- AL101 and it was working fine until i'd decided to use pimp my rom app from the playstore and it was a doddle and worked great as the system had come rooted and open from the box. The play store stopped responding and nothing the the tablet would work, it would turn on, but not let me run any programs. Id also downloaded the pimp my rom 'recovery tool zip file' but I soon realized i couldn't flash it as once i booted into recovery, It worked fine but I couldn't actually use the controls to change the recovery options as the only button that worked was the power button which was highlighting the 'restart phone' which rendered the whole recovery utility useless.
Upon contacting the website owners from ebay, they said I should re flash using the phoenix burning tool onto my TF Card the software I'd downloaded from their website (it was the correct one, yes), which I did and it flashed fine. However after i restarted the tablet, I found that the WIFI wasn't working (It just says turning WIFI on and stays there) and after some further research I found out that this maybe due to a faulty kernal or wifi setting file of some sort.
My entire previous android rooting experience is when i used XDA Developers to help S-off and root my HTC Desire and wildfire phones, but I'm still a rookie at these matters so please go easy on me.
The information I can gather from my tablet is as follows:
Model- IRULU- AL101
Android Version- 4.0.4
Basebrand Version- 1.5rc4
Kernal Version- 3.0.8+
[email protected] #50
Mon Nov 5 09:51:29 CST 2012
Build Number- crane_al101-eng 4.0.4 IMM76D 20121113 test-keys
I can provide more information if it is needed and you can direct me on how to get it for you.
It contains ethernet internet connectivity but it is an absolute hassle and massive pain to use it as i means me sitting in a dark cold room really awkwardly with my router. Internet DOES WORK but only with ethernet, but the WIFI DOESNT WORK and I often use it in college while tethering to my phones internet through WIFI.
Please could someone help me out and advise me how I can fix the WIFI?:fingers-crossed:
Thank you- Fahad

A solution...sorta
I have the same Al101 tablet and problem, Fahad. As you found, the software IRULU provides leaves WIFI disabled.
Researching the problem I found the tablet is sold under many names, so I opened the case to get the real story. Here's what I found:
The board: i85.photobucket.com/albums/k76/kdhaley/BC1003BOARD.jpg
The CPU: i85.photobucket.com/albums/k76/kdhaley/BC1003CPU.jpg
The board is a Yones TopTech BC1003 with an Allwinner A10 CPU. It is marketed here: yonesnav.com/products/bc1003.php
After hours of learning and searching I downloaded the LiveSuit installer from topnotchtablets.com/LivesuiteInstall and the ROM from d-h.st/fho and flashed my tablet using the instructions at slatedroid.com/topic/36789-livesuite-guide-allwinner-a1x/.
It's not perfect; WIFI works but GPS doesn't, so I'm going to tinker with it to see if I can get everything right. These look like promising candidates:

Hey Supercereal,
Thank you very very much for this information, I've been tryiing to get them to exchange the faulty tablet but at over 70 pound shipping and postage costs to me, Its much less of a hassle just to Save up a little more and invest in a decent tablet!
Thanks again for the detailed help, I will be using these very promptly and seeing if they work any better. However when people say 'connect your tablet to your PC', how exactly do i go about doing this? Could you describe the sort of cable I would need or maybe i just need to flash a TF card with the firmware image and turn on the tablet again like mentioned in the original tablet's instructions? Please could you link to an article or briefly explain this? Also, could you check for me if the sensors are also functional or not? I would really like to play the game Temple run 2 on mt tablet, but ven it if doesnt work, any decent stable roms will have to do
RSVP
Thanks, Fahad

Sadly, the sensors are NOT functional with any firmware I've tried, even the stock firwmare recommended by the company. I'm thinking there is a critical bit of information missing from the installation procedure. I wouldn't blame you for giving up and buying a better tablet; I'm thinking the same, but I'll keep fussing with it and let you know if I make any progress. The learning curve is a challenge.
The cable mentioned is a basic UBS cable such as this: amazon.co.uk/USB-Male-2m-Cable-Black/dp/B0018I97M0.
I have had better success with the cable method versus the TF card.
Good luck!
I've found a ROM that works at docs.google.com/folder/d/0B_88d7OJP9HPWWEwejlSQkQ0X2s/edit. Everything seems to work except GPS.

I could not post this earlier because I have being banned because of the ugly I was banned while it was Not my fault at all, and the honest visitors and forum members already knew that, that ugly person put it my replied back to him with: @ # $% ^ & ** & ^% $ # @@ # $$% ^ && * etc and that made me mad about him so I called him to do normal boy.. this is the whole truth of been banned nothing more nothing less!.
Just to let you know guys:
my intentions / purpose here on this site is to help the "newbies" and others on their way with this hobby if I could but not to be unrespected here while I was tried to explaining it to him why it was not working well on "our" headunits etc.. that too say.
And the funny things was: he gave thanks (= liked) for the one who banned me too, while I been banned because of him / his unrespected replied to me.. huhuhu.. indeed, very funny mates.
all in all, I wish you a lot of pleasure with this newer A9 from HA version.

Hi mate,
when i wrote that it is bug free, that was because my wifi headunit is always on, means, I have connected it to the home network and work network, for that reason I always have the right time when I got in my car, not if I turn off the car and start it up again after a few hours!.. so the time of this HA A9 need a wifi connection but when he get it from the (wifi) i-net your headunit get the right time immediately, in comparison with the previous A9 version it did not work via the network neither, but only by rebooting the headunit, I also tested it today via gps only (when I went to visit my younger brothers) and this unfortunately did not work, so it is not solved yet via gps for our (old?) A8 headunits, you can connect it to the i-net from your phone as a hotspot or tether and then you always have the good time indicated.. means problem has been solved!, what I have thought about it in the meantime, it is a combination of fw update but also a mcu update must be done, we need a real A9 headunit to compare it of the indicated time on their original A9 devices is works as well there without any problems with both gps+network?, as you may have known that our A8 is "not really yet entirely suitable or made with its obsolete components perhaps?" for the newer A9 ?.. I could be wrong about that ofcourse.. that is possible too!
let us wait patiently for the next update of the HA for the A9.. maybe they will also fix the gps time too? or a newer mcu file will be the solver?

Hi mate,
something strange happened with my indicated headunit time today, today I had to replace my car windshield, there was a bit crack in it, very sensitive windshield because it is provided with heating elements, means not dubbel glas, there at the windshield replacements company, after about 2,5 hours I had finished the replacement and when I left the company I looked at the headunit time and it was very correct there, I also turned on the times via gps in the morning, why and what was the reason for it? I don't know that either, but I just left it on, but after I went to visit a fam and after a few hours of my visit I startup my car again, and the time was not correct again, that literally surprises me because I just have a satellite reach/range through my navi as well when I start a newer navi route!
did they connect it my car to the wifi for some modifications or testing things while I was waiting there? maybe.
That's mean:the time is not been saving on the memory of the headunit as usual with A8, when I turn the car off the time receiving is also turned off and stays off. maybe with a newer update they will solve that too as they did it with the from network?

Windshields in the Front with heading Elements block almost any GPS Contact. When the GPS is installaed in the dashboard it becomes worse. Try to rearange your gps mouse.

Hi mate,
thanks, it is idd in the "inside" of the dashboard placed, that how I always did with my all purchased (from years ago until now) , placed behind the back of the headunit itself.. as I have written, I don't have any navi gps connections or signal received problem etc, but the time now got its update from the wifi / network instead of the gps.. maybe a newer A9 update will gonna be fixed it?
Anyway, thanks again for the good tip mate!
Goodluck
