ADSL & Ethernet problem - General Questions and Answers

How to set up ADSL and Ethernet connection to the VM8650?
ADSL needs a username and password?
I do not know which username and password?
The Ethernet settings when set to dynamic IP, ETH icon shows but no active connection and when I set a static setting ETH lose an icon.
Help anyone!

The provider gives you a username and password for the adsl-service. try this or ask him

You don't need an adsl user name and password.
I assume you are trying to connect to your wireless. Then you need your wireless passphrase or password. If you don't have it you need to go into your router or modem to get it. If you don't know how to do that call your isp.

Specifying DNS Servers for WiFi Connection

Hi Folks,
I have set up my wife's SPV E650 to hook up to our wireless network at home so she can connect to the internet through the home wireless network. We have static IP's on our LAN. Although I have specified a static IP for the E650's wireless connection, I cannot find out where I specify the DNS servers to allow her to connect to the internet via our ISP, (I know the DNS server IPs, I just can't find out where I enter that info on the E650). So at the moment, I can connect to the home network, but cannot get onto t'internet!
It is quite likely that I am being a spaz and am missing something obvious... regardless, if you can help me, let me know!
Cheers
MW
even if you have a static IP you should not have to specify a static DNS because your default gateway should be your router IP address and your router should automatically give the DNS servers to any device that pulls that ip address

Thanks for your response.
All the other devices on my home network (laptop, PC, Xbox 360, SPV M3100) ask for the DNS server to be specified in a static IP environment, and they all connect to the internet just fine through the wireless network.
I am sure you are right, but I know that none of the above mentioned devices connect to the internet without the DNS servers specified.
So, question remains, how do I specify the DNS servers on the E650? Maybe a registry entry?
@mortalwombat,
i have the same problem with my htc s710.
Even though I run the wireless network with static IPs, I set my HTC S710 to get the IP "from a server" (= dynamic IP setting).
I did this after I tried with an IP Adress within my IP Adress Range.
So what happened is that my S710 somehow gets an IP Adress from my router that is almost in my regular IP Range.
You can try to set an static IP Adress within your Range first and then switch to dynamic IP Adress on you device..

Wireless Internet Connection problem

CANNOT CONNECT TO WIRELESS ROUTER
I own an unlocked Siemens SX66 with Windows Mobile 6.5 installed. I had no problems with it but recently I cannot connect to my home wireless network or to any other wireless connection. I went in to "Settings" and clicked on "Configure Network Adaptors" to check the "tiacxwln Compatible Wireless Ethernet" setup and saw the following settings:
The "Use server-assigned IP address" is checked and on the IP address column this information was entered and cannot be edited..
IP address: fe80::209:2dff:fe1
I tried to delete it but like I said, it cannot be edited or deleted. Is there any way I can take this out? I believe this is the reason why I cannot connect to my wireless router at home since my router cannot assign an IP address to it.
Thank you in advance for any help or suggestion that you can pass on to me

Another wifi problem.

Hi everyboy, I have an Blue Angel with WM6.5.3 from sun_dream. I can't connect to my home wifi or any wifi. I configured my router like this:
DHCP off
Wirless all
WPA-PSK
TKIP
64bit
I can't connect even to open wifi accespoints(hotspots).
I start the wirelss manager, tap on wirelss on and after that the wireless network appears. I click connect and nothing happens. In the network manager the connectios is available, i click connect, it says connecting and than again it says available.(any hot sopt or the home network, for that at home i entered the mac into the router and have written the ip an dns to the phone wirelss card)
Pleas help, it is a great phone i like it but this is the only problem i have.
PS: I even commanded an bluetooth gps unit. Is there any way to change the hardware and install an "g" wireless card?
Shouldn't DHCP on your WiFi router be set to 'On' and also for the phone as well. It will select an IP address for your device, which will then pick it up.
Otherwise you will have to allocate an IP address on the router, and then set the phone to the same address. If they don't match it won't work
It's a lot easier to let DHCP do all the donkey work. In most public areas DHCP is used as it is a 'Start it and forget it' system.
I set dhcp off because i assign an ip adress to every pc manualy and even have an mac filter where again the ip is written. I set the same ip on the phone as i had written it in the router config.
I can't acces even public wireless spots. I have the problem that it says the connection is available and then it says connecting and instead of connected it says avaialble.

Phase 2 authentication-none
ca cert-unspecified

IP address changer

Hi,
Could you send me link where I can download
App which can change IP address if exist?
Thanks
if you need to change the adress of your Wifi connection, simply go to your wifi settings, do a long press on the network and select "edit". Here you can change the IP Adress.
No, I need to configure manualy IP address because WIFI AP doesnt give IP addresses and I am not administrator of this AP and its company wifi.
Exist this program ?
you should be able to connect to the Wifi AP. Once done, it should either provide you with an IP via DHCP, or if this is indeed disabled as you say a zeroconf ip. If it's DHCP you don't seem to be able to modify the IP, but for zeroconf:
select the wifi network in your wifi setting, press and hold it, select "edit". Right under "proxy on/off" you should be able to edit your IP Adress, subnet mask and gateway adress as well as your DNS Servers.

wifi network and nothing else.
I ment program which allows me change ip address before
I log to wifi network.
I hope thats clear.

No its not clear man ...
Why you want to change the ip of your phone to a static one for all networks yoy log in...
When your phone finds the network you want to log in connect to the net providing the password ... then after connecting and not haviing an ip address, keep the name of the network pressed with your finger and there you can change the ip address..
Did you try this yourself?

Did you try this yourself, and it worked? If yes, I wonder big time because that's exactly what did not work for me and my HTC Radar at my home Wifi network: Without a DHCP server running on the Access Point (no need for, only static IP addresses in use) the phone did not connect, just hang for a minute or so and then timed out. Only after I activated a DHCP server to dish out an IP to the phone it connected.

suppose(and this case is real in my case and applies to me..) u r not the admin of wifi router(u r nt connection owner) and u r in ur school and u want to connect to school wifi..but the router connects to only a limited set of ips..network admin has disabled dhcp server as in my ase..without preconfiguring the ip address before connection, u cant connect to ap..thats tragedy..dont think, oh i have never undergone such circumstances and ur network admin is a jack***..i know but i am helpless in this situation..all my classmates and my seniors are android device owners..so network admin doesn't change all settings just for helping a single person(at least in india..they ll ask u to use internet through library computers like dumbasses..)
THIS SUBSTANTIATES THE NECESSITY OF A FEATURE WHICH ALLOWS U TO SET A STATIC IP BEFORE LOGGING INTO ACCESS POINT..
also this feature helps to prevent all the little more work consuming process of logging into router, assigning static ip to ur device, and getting the static ip on device from router itself(but still thats DHCP only)..
Try Hotspot Switch IP. Is a free android app which allows you to change IP automatically by timer, remotely via web server, and also you can do it in app. Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hotspot.wifi.change.ip&pli=1
