How to do JuoPunutbear easily (My own personal experience) - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Well, this thread is going to be based on telling you how I completed Juopunutbear since I have no wires around already, I had to be creative and it worked out really well.
Things you'll need:
Downloaded Juopunutbear - Can be fetched from http://Unlimited.io
Ethernet cable
Doubleshot
Knife or scissors
Step 1:
Take ethernet cable and cut the wire open. You will see a couple of wires. Cut both ends to be an appropriate length (I cut about 3 inches of length to use)
Step 2:
Take stripped ethernet cable and pull out one of the wires.
Step 3: Strip about a half inch off the end of each side of the wire so you get the hard copper to show up.
Step 4: Twist the ends so that they are size appropriate for the contact point and can maintain better contact in general.
Step 5: Run control bear and follow instructions with retwisting the copper if you need to according to seperation. If you know what you're doing, it should be done in a few minutes

Step 6 - Optional : Recover your SD card for use again Can be found in post 2
*Note: I take no credit for Juopunutbear, only where my name is referenced in credits on unlimited.io Nothing else.
Credits to Team Unlimited and their respective members.

How to recover SDcard for use (will be formatted)
Step one: Get gparted up and running (you can make a live CD / bootable USB)
Step two: Run gparted (if on linux and using it, type 'sudo gparted' minus '
Step three: Create a new partition table from "Partition Table" in the top menu
Step four: When that completes, repartition the card for the full space and then it will be fine and usable.

gonna try this now, if it fails what can i do to get my phone back in working order?

Run the .exe with the -r command prompt flag. It will restore everything.

sry im kind of lost here did you mean to run the exe in the control bear folder? if so wont it just try to s-off my phone again? and how do i run it with the -r command? im using windows7

Since you are posting your personal experience, I wanted to pass along mine. Tried several times - didn't get it to work.

Timing and contact is important. I had to try it about 26 times

How did you rename the top purple banner?
That's a cool little hack. I'd like to try that myself

im finally s-off, took me awhile (maybe 50+ tries) turns out the sd card i was using was bad, when i switched to a new one it worked on the first try i think.

Guess I got lucky to go through once through....yay me

Decided to give this a shot and the phone just boot loops lol. I'm still a noob when it comes to this stuff, so is there anyway to stop this? Or do I just go to my T-Mobile store and play dumb lol?
*EDIT*
Never mind, just reflashed the boot image and got everything working again.

Not sure what you mean by bad SD card? My SD card got fried somewhere along the process, but I can't believe that if people are doing this 25-50 times before it works that by the end of it their SD cards are still working.

After a bunch of cussing, numerous attempts of the wire trick, and tons of reformats of the sd card later I am finally s-off.

Your sdcard isn't fried by the end of this. It just has a corrupted partition table. So recreating a partition table = perfectly normal sdcard.

So between each attempt, do you need to "fix" the SD card?

No, you don't.

Apps on SDcard RC8

Hi,
I hope i am not repeating anything here, i have tried searching.
I am from the Uk and have a jf for RC8. What i want to do it use the 'Apps for SD card' mod, but all the tutorials say to use RC33 and the latest radio. Am i right in thinking the the mod wont work with the RC8?
if so why. What is the big difference in the RC8 that wont make it work. same with the themes, i keep seeing RC33 only and only have found 2 that say RC8.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Chris
ps. also is there a wiki or something explaining all these sorts of thing in detail?
*bump* *bump*
anyone? a simple no cos.. or yes but would do.
Chris
Hi,
I don't think the radio update applies to the Uk version.
So no need to worry about it.
As far as the process goes there is a excellent post here that I followed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468959
This really should be a sticky.
Here a few screen captures that I made just in case I had to do it again.
I used adb to do the whole process.

Sooo, this will work on RC8?
Have you done it yourself or are you guessing?
What is the worstcase scenario if it doesn't work?

Hi,
If your phone is rooted I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Do you have your ext2 partition setup on your sd card?
Do you have adb running from your computer?
I use jf 1.41 rc33
Maybe wait for a reply from a uk user or someone more experienced with linux.

Yes, I have a rooted phone with an 1gb ext2 partition and 7gb Fat32.
I think I'll wait a bit longer before experimenting with this without knowing the concequences if it doesn't work. Using RC33 atm, so I will survive for know.
Hi,
I have managed to do this with my jf RC8. I followed the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468959
but used the part which doesnt use the usb to pc cable. i dint want to mess around with adb (also i am quite familiar with the Linux console).
it went fine (apart from my sd card not formatting properly. i used my camera to format it then used gparted in linux to setup all the partitions) after that it worked fine. I now have 54mb free on my phone memory.
I have only noticed a very tiny lag when first opening an app, like less that half a second, but this is well worth it as now i can have all the app i want without that 'out of space' notification every 3 days.
Thanx to bestwebs for the link!
Chris
Hi,
Glad it worked.
Yes, the lag is very minor.
I have been using that procedure for my phone for 2 weeks now.
It's good that you verified it to work on rc8.
I like to use adb because you can type all the commands from your computer instead of from terminal emulator.
Right now , I have 47 apps installed and 66 megs free phone memory.
My sd card shows with busybox, 55 megs used from my ext2 partition.
That post is really amazing.
Enjoy.

[Splash] Halo Reach Splash Screens

I can't be the only one who likes Halo and can't wait for Reach to come out.
Here's a couple of splash screens I created with that in mind.
They are similar, but the second has one of my favorite quotes from Halo 3 and any one who has read the books knows what it means.
Let me know what you think. (Be gentle though, these are my first ones)

They look great, the only change I would make would be the quote on the second one. I would use a quote about Noble 6, like "There's only one other spartan with that rating" -Dr. Halsey

The reason I used that quote was because of the references in the halo: the fall of reach (the book). But if anyone wants a specific quote let me know and I'd be happy to include it.

Hi, was hoping you could help me with this. I followed instructions on how to flash this and the actual sending of it worked but when it tried to write it, it said FAILED (remote: not allowed). Any ideas on what that would mean? Thanks!
You need to have ADB enabled. Put the evosplash1.rgb into your sdk/tools folder. Plug your USB into phone, then boot your phone into the bootloader. Click on fastboot. Underneath the date it should say FASTBOOT USB. Then open a command prompt and CD to your sdk/tools (or whatever you named it) once there type this:
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 evosplash1.rgb565
fastboot reboot

First, thank you for replying to my post! You are the first one to state the "adb remount" part. I did that but it is saying device not found now. My phone does show the red fastboot usb so do you any further suggestions because it still failed on the writing part. The sending part went fine but I guess it is failing since it cannot find my phone. Might I have the sdk set up incorrectly?
One more thing...when I type adb devices...nothing shows up but when I type fastboot devices....my phone does show up.

when you're in fastboot it shouldn't show up in adb devices. I also forgot to mention to put the rgb565 file into your sdk/tools folder. Other than that it sounds like your setup properly.
Edit: Also the adb remount code isn't needed. I was so used to using it from messing around with bootscreens, I forgot it isn't needed for fastboot.
Yes, it seems I am setup correctly from what I have read. Maybe I should flash to a different rom and see if that helps me. My wireless tether app is giving me problems as well so not sure what has happened but it may be time to give something else a go. Unless you can think of anything new that is, lol. Thanks a bunch though for you help...really appreciate it.
Well, for those that actually care I have now resolved this issue. It turns out that the HBOOT version that I had did not allow me to perform this flash. I had to actually downgrade it to a different one and it worked perfectly. I wish to thank those that actually took the time to reply to my post...it was greatly appreciated!!
Realize I posted the screen of the new quote, but didn't attach the file... duh

[Q] Possibly Bricked XT720?

Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated here.
I was helping my friend with his XT720, we first rooted it with Universal Androot, then, tried to partition the SD card with GParted. I thought I had it correct (the first partition was 6.5Gb and FAT32, the second was about 1000mb EXT2, and the third was 128mb linux-swap partition). We then attempted the optimizer script and had nothing but issues. Every time I tried the apps2sd it would give an error, something about the partition extension. So we tried slightly different partition layouts and everytime no luck. Apps2sd still failed every attempt, so we gave it one last try at this and we managed to get Busybox to install, cache-sd, optimized build.prop, (apps2sd still failed) but then when I went to install JIT for Froyo, the phone screen went black..we let is sit for a while and nothing. So we pulled the battery waited a few minutes and put it back in, it went to the all black screen with the Moto symbol.
Thats where we left off. I'm kinda shocked at how any of these steps could have lead to a bricked device and hoping someone can point me in the right direction as to how fix this.
Since I never installed rom manager (is it even compatible with the XT?) I cant just restore from nandroid. Is there a way to get this to factory restore or push a recovery image from adb? I heard RSD lite might be able to help me, but I'm not too familiar with it at all (yet).
Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
flash back to stock rom using rsdlite. theres instructions somewhere on this forum
Search for recovery mode. Something like you have to hold in the volume up & the camera mode button while powering up. Clear the data & cache (possibly a few times) & then reboot. If that doesn't work the RSD lite should.
HTH
Thanks for the help guys. So from what it sounds like, it is in fact not a brick and very fixable?
Ill be attempting this shortly.

If you have a Linux box around, it provides the best solution. I booted into my Linux partition, put my SD card into the reader slot, and fired ''gparted''. First I shrunk the existing fat32 partition which was occupying whole 8G to 7. So no data is lost. Then create another primary partition of size 1G (whatever left) to ext2 (and format it). No swap needed. Works like a charm, done in 5 minutes, no data backup/restore necessary (though advised).
If you are on a windows machine, you can use MiniTool Partition Manager Home Edition. All partitions have to made "Primary" and the fat32 one to be "Primary" and "Active".
The partitions made by this tool were recognised by both apps2sd and app2card(didn't have to repartition) apps...
Well I successfully restored the device with rsd
I don't have Linux, however I do Gparted live on a CD that I can boot from, so I got that part covered.
Ill attempt the different partition layout mentioned and see if I have better results.
Do I enable Apps2sd with the optimizer script again or is there another method? I'm just hesitant to use it again since I had to restore after last time..
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
The script is what I used. I've seem some talk of an app called something like "app2card" (not on the market). There is an similar script on the driodformums.net website. It has a customized script for the CBW SBF. That's the one I ended up using, when I tried the version on this forum it kept errroring out at some point. They both do similar hacks (from my limited understanding) so I'm not sure what the problem was.

Just ensure that your partition matches the script's assumption. Like the script assumes /system is mounted from /dev/block/blahblah06, the ext2 partition of the SD card is /dev/block/mmcxxp02 ... if yours are different (mine was), edit install.sh accordingly before running it.
I'm having almost the same issue. I feel stupid. Tired after work. Blah!
I tried a similar app and transfered all my apps to the sd card. Partitions are fine.
For some reason my apps were not working though, and I tried some "fix" that started fixing working system apps on my internal memory. Now I only get it to boot the motorla logo.
I got into the repair options and cleared cache but same thing.
My wife has a nexus, I'm wondering if I can swap out the sd card or something. Checking out this thread. I have RSDLite. But I never flashed the rom or anything that I know of. Just rooted.
Time to read more!!!

Could you please explain how you restored with RSD? I think something is still on my SDcard or I trashed an app / resource it was trying to fix (App2card)

First you have to download & install the USB drivers from Motorola & the original SBF (needs to extracted) from HERE, then power your phone into bootloader mode (I think it was hoding in the volume down & shutter button while turning on the phone). Now when you run RSD you should see your phone in the device list browse to your SBF & start the process. It takes about 10 minutes but when your done your phone should be in a "fresh out of the box" condition. Also I should note that I couldn't get RSD to see my phone on my Win7 64 laptop but it worked fine on my XP machine.

ShiftRRv1.0
Shift Root and Recovery will be able to root you're phone in a pretty safe manner. The program is designed to only flash the eng boot if the MD5 checksums are correct.
This does it by simply pushing / pulling the hboot from the phone and checking the MD5 as if you were to manually do it. Only this just does it automatically.
Check Root:
This will just run a quick and simple SU test to make sure you are or are not rooted.
Root:
You will click on this to install the ENG Hboot and load the correct files after the Hboot has been flashed.
Install Recovery:
You simply select the recovery image you want to use with your HTC Evo Shift. Leave the phone at the home screen and click install. It will auto reboot you to bootloader, flash the zip then auto reboot you to recovery to make sure it flashed successfully.
Backup / Restore WIMAX:
This option lets you quickly and easily backup your wimax keys to your home pc. It will also let you restore your wimax keys to your phones partitions.
[WHAT THIS PROGRAM DOES]
When you click on root, and click "NO" for this phone does not have a ENG Hboot. The program push's the ENGHboot from the Hboot folder to the phone and push's busybox. From there it gets a temp root shell. It then cross checks the MD5sum on the phone itself using busybox md5sum /data/local/eng_hboot if the MD5Sum math's it then proceed's with the dd if cmd. Once the dd if cmd is done. The program then sends the dd if cmd to /data/local/eng_hboot_check, it runs the cmd busybox md5sum again and verifies that the MD5Sum matches if so everything went well, the program cleans up its mess off the phone and alerts you its safe to reboot. IF IT FAIILS it will try 1 more time. The program is designed to check the HBOOT md5sum and verify if its the ORIG hboot if it is not and the MD5Sum doesn't check between the ENG and ORIGINAl it will attempt to flash the original and notify you if it succeeds. IF IT FAILS AGAIN. IT WILL NOTIFY YOU NOT TO TURN OFF YOUR PHONE AND COME HERE FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. I ADVISE YOU TO LISTEN.
After this YOU MUST REBOOT THE PHONE.
When phone is powered up again Click Root again this time select "YES" that the phone has a ENGHboot, this will get temp root again and push all the needed files, "SQLITE3", "BusyBOX", "SU", "Superuser.apk" to there proper location.
If YOU CLICK "YES" and didnt have the ENG Hboot thats fine it simply will temp root you and push files to your phone, but when you reboot they will be gone. Just start from the begining again and do it again.

I was trying to root, and I have windows 7 64 bit
Where is the link ! someone please give me the file , pretty please please please been waiting for this !!!
I don't know if this is what it's trying to achieve or not. I don't know how to do it either. Judging by all my previous phones, an all in one script could be written to do everything the s-off, root, and recovery post is telling how to do. Just a "simple" batch file and some support files and presto, it's all done!
Zip everything needed together and just unzip and run. I could probably teach myself by ripping apart other all in one packages and adjusting my port to follow loosely what they are doing but I just don't have the free time to spend on that project. By the time I would get around to doing it, someone else would have finished it. I just don't know things like telling the phone to reboot into different modes so it could continue it's job. I can visualize it in my head but making it a reality is completely different. Doh!
Anyone know where the download link went? I've been having trouble with rooting my phone and wanted to try this, but theres no download link in the first post (unless my computer decided to stop showing links).
Link was removed temporarily. Learn to read guys, sheesh
On a side note, I'm pretty psyched about this OP, since I haven't had the ambition to sit down and root my phone yet. Just curious, are there any files that would need to be downloaded prior to using this (such as the ****-root.zip used in the other root method)?
Oops, saw everything except "removed temp..." in the first post.
It looks like there isn't anything extra that needs to be downloaded. Looks like the OP figured out a way around it.

Sorry guys will work on this again in a few days girl is supposed to be going in to labor today...
On the side note the issue that I ran into is that running rageagainstthecage from the windows side does not give you root. It actually disables usb connection between the phone and the computer. I was trying to make this so you didnt need anything other then the program. But now with that being a problem z4root would be needed to obtain at least temp root but if i doesnt drop you to # then it still will not work from doing it automatically using arguments. That is what i'm trying to resolve first..
Ill get back to you guys on it, and ill even add the option to restore wimax keys.
That's what I was thinking You have to Temp root with Z4root first.
Since The manual root requires super user to work.
Dude!!!! thank you so much for this. Been wanting t root badly but was afraid to try the other method. Good luck with baby!!
Perhaps someone brave could test it out by temp rooting with visionary/z4root and then running the program? If you posted the download link back up.

Moto G Play 2023

Hi all new here glad to be a member
anyway i just unlocked the bootloader and rooted with magisk through BOOT.img patching.... my Question is, are there any custom roms or anything out yet for this phone? Android 12 .thank you so much
Thats amazing. From my own research i understand this phone is so new that people have yet the get their hands on it to work on it also the fact that it uses a mediatek instead of a snapdragon is a sticking point for a lot of developers even though its basically the same phone as the g power 22 and g play 21
Hi sam9566
Yeah I broke my other phone cheap . So I looked for an unlocked carrier phone close to me and Walmart had like 7 maybe. But they were in lockup couldn't find it. So I asked the guy in the back he looked around and took his key out and went into this metal cage that you couldn't see into and pulled one out and sold it to me really quickly . Then I had to wait 9 days for the OEM UNLOCK to be UN-greyed in dev options. But in those 9 days I waited for an email from moto for my unlock code but never showed. So I got on live site chat and within 2 minutes the person gave me the 20 digit code . And after 9 days I unlocked the bootloader, then I used the Lenovo software to get the factory Rom extracted the boot.img used magisk to patch then flashed.. lol been debloating the crap out this phone.. it uses 51% storage after setup is completed
nice lets try to actually keep this thread alive so maybe we can get a lineage rom for this phone eventually???
well got rid of all the preinstalled apps and moto junk lol got down to 39% storage used. now what lol im bored
Yeah im still completely lost on how you did this could you possibly post a step by step guide???
lol ill try
1: download https://www.motorola.com/us/rescue-and-smart-assistant/p MOTOROLA SITE please be patient the program is slow just a warning if anyone thinks its hung..
2: Download magisk from GITHUB on your phone and install it.
3: download ADB_Fastboot
4: open rescue and smart assistant program and do the steps it says to do, then once it finds the ROM it MIGHT say already have latest... Say download anyway..
5: now once its done downloading dont do anything else. go to the download location and open the file and copy the BOOT.IMG to desktop or where ever you want it..
6: Now copy the BOOT.IMG to your phone's internal storage Download folder.
7:Run magisk and click top install then select and patch a file. locate the boot.img on your phone and patch it.
8: once done copy the patched file back to the PC i put it in ADB FASTBOOT folder. rename it too BOOT.IMG open CMD with admin rights or it wont work.
9: type (adb reboot-bootloader), should reboot into bootloader. now do this command (fastboot devices) make sure it see's the device.. then type ( fastboot flash boot boot.img ) -BOOT.IMG is what ever name you make it but for simple measures i did boot.img. let it finish reboot device with ( fastboot reboot ).. now open magisk and let it finish what its got to do...
10: ENJOY hope this helps someone out.. i never wrote a guide before as you can tell hahaha.. let me know if there is any QUESTIONS

Same here. Unloaded all the "Junk",and this little pistol is much faster-- however, still looking for a custom ROM.

I was struggling to get my boot partition to flash (not found error). Ultimately I had to flash boot_a and boot_b as described here.
