Trying to update from Froyo Stuck at 4% don't know how to stop - T-Mobile LG G2x

Title says it all. I am trying to update (from Froyo) with LG update tool. Everything seemed to go well but now its stuck at 4%. How do I go about disconnecting and trying again? We're talking right now....been stuck there according to elapsed time 1 hr 27 minutes. If I just disconnect the phone will I brick it?

Go to that post. It has what to do. I was stuck on it also. I did that.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up disconnecting it and removing the battery. When I turned it back on, it was still on the upgrade screen. Plugged it back in and it restatrted the download and completed it. I guess I'm on the new firmware now.
V21e?

Thats old. New baseband is v21y.
P.S: Sorry, didn't see you were on froyo before. Yeah then it did update it for you. Its just that a new firmware was made available from LG a while back.

So I should do it again?

No. You won't be able to. Its been pulled. Wait for a few weeks. If you are on stock rom, You will get OTA update to v21y from tmobile or LG.

I thought they reposted it yesterday, available for manual download? That's why I tried it today.....
Edit....OK I reread it on Tmobiles site.

OTA Update
The G2x will receive a notification that the update is available.
Select Update.
The update will install.
Once complete the phone will restart.
It says it will come to you. Go to your software update and see if it lets you update. I think its on their timing. Not yours. Then again, I am not with any US Carrier so i don't know how the update might work. Sorry.

[Q] Missed my chance at the OTA update...

When I got up this morning the option to update was available so I went for it. Immediately I realized my mistake because I had rerooted the Xoom last night and of course the update failed. Now I have returned completely bak to stock expecting to be able to update. No dice.
I have tried changing the date to pull the option to update again still no dice. Just wondering if there are any other options to pull this update again or do I just have to wait?
Will it show back up?

I spoke with a VZW Tech support Rep tonight and was told that the devices are updated by device ID #'s. I was told that since I missed the update that if I did not receive the update by midnight tonight then it probably wasn't gonna happen.
I hope like hell he is wrong and I feel like chances are he is. But he got me just that much more nervous about loosing the chance to get the update yesterday morning

If you plan on rooting, then don't bother with the OTA. You'll have to wipe the phone while rooting, then update to the latest. If you don't plan on rooting, then the OTA should show up when tell it to check. What version does it currently say you are running?
Even if you don't plan on rooting, I still wouldn't update. Otherwise you may end up frustrated with reboots.
I got my TB back in May. Didn't have one issue until I did the update. Since I only had the phone for 11 days VZW told me to walk into a store and exchange for a new one. I have had no issues with the new phone and will stay clear of that update. Wait until GB comes out and hopefully that will fix what ever is wrong.

[Q] LGMobile Support Tool says already the latest version

The LGMobile support Tool reports that I have model LGP999DW and version V10F, but also says that "The Cell phone is the latest version already." Occasionally it will report my model as simply LGP999, in which case I can start updating, but it stops at around 40% with the message "model not supporting S/W update."
If I look under Customer Support > Supporting Model I do not see the LGP999DW listed but I do see LGP999WA. A google search for LGP999WA turns up only one link to a LG site that has a global list of phones that can be updated.
So, do I have a bad version of the update program? Has the update for this phone been pulled even from LG's site? And if I cannot update through LG's program, how do I get the new baseband?
Thanks for your help, because this is getting really frustrating.
Try this method. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17258229

That did update me to 2.3.3, but it did not upgrade the baseband, which is the whole point of going through the LG updater. The updater still says that I am on version V10F even though the phone says V21e, and it still says that I am up to date.
It also appears that I am now on stock recovery, when I had CWM before. However, I cannot get into stock recovery. Holding down the "down volume" button and power launches an icon of a box with an arrow coming out of it and andy, and appears to do a factory reset of my phone. Is this how stock recovery works, or is it an indication that something is wrong?
Finally, the LG updater program always stops on "checking phone #", is this indicative of something?
If the method I suggested completed. And the phone shows the new baseband. I would tend to believe the phone. It should have flashed everything to stock including the recovery. Just nvflash the latest cwr. And the stock recovery will "factory reset" the phone when using vol down + power.

The phone says that the baseband has not been updated. It still has a date of March 27 2011. The lg updater only gives me information about the software version.
Did you try the kdz method? I can't find the thread right now from my phone facepalm but it was posted in the general section, I believe.
Edit.. I found it Here's the link.

The updater appears to be messed up. Only shows it supports that model you mention which, as far as I know, is not a valid US model number. Hopefully LG fixes it.
I mean no offense by this, but to me I find this funny. Reason for this is that I have the LGP999WA, it is the model T-Mobile was giving out at the Gadget Chicago event and on Twitter Friday last week (Sept. 16th or 15th I think the date was).
Now as for the updater program, the updates through it have been disabled till LG can fix some sort of driver issue for the program/phone (was stated clearly for which), and I got that straight from the tech rep Sat. afternoon when I was trying to make sure my phone was fully updated.

Probably for the issue that during the update the updater resets the device's USB connection three times. It is during these resets that the connection error can occur. This is what has been soft-bricking people G2X's. I had it at my first reset but simply removed the USB cable and reinserted it, waited for the computer to beep and pressed restart and it finished in about 15 minutes. I ignored the moronic instructions about doing a battery pull on the device itself first. They need to do the update without resetting the USB or have a driver that connects faster; or have a longer timeout in the updater program to allow enough time for the phone to reconnect to the computer. It is flashing four files, so I think it is resetting the USB between each file flash. Don't know why and it is not a good way to do things; but certainly an easy way to brick phones.
Alright, thanks for the information, its really helpful to know that its not just me. For now, I have flashed to cyanogen, and will attempt to update the baseband at a later time.
Just so people know I checked the updater and all the models have been restored. They are still on V21e rom (Our 2.3.3 GB rom). The models listed are LG-P999DW, LG-P999DWP, LG-P999DWDU and the new and mysterious LG-P999WA.

[Q] Anyone know what the new AT&T LG G2 update is?

Got a notification this morning that there was a new update available for KitKat. I do not know what the update is as I postponed it. I am currently running KitKat 4.4.2 Kernel version 3.4.0. The build is D80020c. I am rooted. I have no other information except that it shows that an update is pending but it will not tell me what the update is and I do not know where to find out what it is.
Anyone have any ideas as to what this is? I am concerned because the last time an update rolled out, it soft bricked my rooted phone.
I spoke with tech support at AT&T and they claim that they do not know what it is and suggested that I call LG for an answer.....

Don't install it, it jacked up my phone. I was running the rooted mixed partition D80020c and I can't boot or get into download mode now. All I get it a constant reboot back to recovery. Cannot install another ROM, cannot restore a backup. My daughter was playing with my phone and pushed to continue with the install and now I'm trying to unscrew it.

Is there any way to force a not install or deny it? The only option I have is to postpone the install and after 4 hours, it will run again and continue to run every 4 hours unless I find a way to break the cycle. How do I force a no install option?
That is what happened to me last time with the "q" update. I postponed the install (no option to not take it) and it installed itself after 4 hours when I left my phone on one night. I woke up to a bricked phone.....

I don't know how to permanently disable the update, but I'm sure there's a way. As info, I was able to easily fix my phone with the help of this thread posted by @thecubed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696. I didn't read it all, but this might be what disables the update.
I'm not rooted. I took the latest update and all is fine. It's google+ fixes and Google wallet support. It actually let me set up tap & pay! I'll have to go somewhere to try it out.

I got the notification too but figured that it would probably screw things up since I'm rooted and running TWRP so I did a little searching and came across this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50454408&postcount=3 . It's been a few hours since I changed the setting and haven't seen the update notification again although AT&T pushed the update into CACHE/FOTA sometime this morning.
Well scratch that, the notification just came back. I'll try freezing it now.
Well if rooted just use TB to freeze software update. I am also running a mixed partition D80020c. I am on Straight Talk AT&T. Before rooting I tried taking the official OTA of KitKat but for some reason you can't enter an APN type so I couldn't get or send MMS. So I flashed back to the D firmware, rooted, added custom recovery, entered the APN type and then flashed the modified C firmware. You could also use Root Freezer instead of Titanium Backup to freeze

[Q] KitKat Update Issues

The OTA update showed up this morning. I chose to delay it because I was going to need my phone. Went to update it later and it just would not download. Did a factory reset and now when I go to system updates it says "checking for available update." for about a minute then says "check for update is not available at this time. Try again later." What am I missing here?

there have been quite a few people with this same issue. i havent seen any direct fix.
if you are locked, i would suggest you wait it out, or wait for the sbf file to get leaked. there is a way to sideload it, but its risky being locked and no sbf to save you if a problem comes up.
if you are unlocked, there are directions in the General forum to sideload the ota. there is no risk if you are unlocked.
if you are locked, the only thing i would suggest to try is re-flashing the stock 9.30.1 with rsd and see if it will pull the update afterwards. there is no guarantee this will work, but your phone will be 100% clean stock after the flash and give you the best chance to grab the ota if available.

Did you download it and then said to apply it later? If so, are you rooted? If so, hook up your phone to your PC and adb shell into it. Type "su" and hit enter to go into superuser mode.
Navigate to the /cache directory and you should see the OTA .zip file sitting in there. Copy it to your external SD card and then you can load it manually via the recovery.
If you're not rooted, then you won't be able to navigate into the /cache directory. Or, if you didn't have it download when you got the notice (or couldn't download it), then it won't be there.
More update issues
My wife & son both have the HD. My wife checked for the update this morning, said it was ready and proceeded to download. Update did as it was supposed to and when it was done, she had KitKat and that's when things went a bit wonky.
If she has Bluetooth turned on, WiFi connection drops after a few minutes. She googled possible workarounds and none really worked. As long as she is not using BT, WiFi stays up
Has anyone else seen this behavior? She refuses to let me root it and install a custom ROM as I have done on my Samsung GS4 from VZW.
In the mean time, we've told our son not to take the update until
we know more about a possible fix.

Android V 4.1.2 worked flawlessly since Nov 1023 upgrade. Decided to upgrade to KitKat via OTH. Had WIFI connection issues right away ( inability to obtain IP or lost connection, etc.) This happened with Bluetooth ON or OFF, no difference. The Signal strength was much lower than when on the previous android version and subsequent indicated connection speed was at least 1/2 of what I was getting previously.
Worked with Verizon and Motorola tech support personnel and did multiple factory resets with no improvement.
Since I wanted a factory solution and had insurance on the phone, I ordered a replacement phone. Thankfully, the new phone had 4.1.2 and worked perfectly. WIFI issues are gone.
Conclusion, KitKat is not ready for prime time yet. WIFI bug needs to be worked out before I will upgrade again.

That's a shame because for me, the FDR fixed the Wifi/Blue-tooth issue as it did for many others. Might have been a hardware issue (faulty radio, etc).
