Sending photos - HTC Desire S

My friend has a Nokia C3. I have an HTC Desire S Android 2.3.5. Although my friend can send me photo messages, my friend can't receive them from me. He receives a web link to view the photo instead of seeing the photo within his messages. I used ot have an HTC Hero Android 2.1 and he could receive my photos which were sent by that phone. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or should I adjust my settings?
Also, the photo I received - my first MMS - I had to press a download button to see the photo, and it didn't download automatically - any reason why this happens?

I don't know if this is the case, but at my mobile carrier if you don't have MMS settings activated if you get a multimedia messege you receive a link to view the multimedia content. So do check the Nokia C3 settings.

The Nokia C3 used to receive photos from my previous phone, HTC Hero 2.1 Why can't this phone receive photos from my HTC Desire S 2.3.5? The Nokia C3 should not have to adjust any settings? Perhaps the options on my phone need changing?

Do you have the APN settings defined for MMS...?
Settings , Wireless & Networks , Mobile networks , Access Point Names.

Yes I have these settings for my phone. The recipient's phone could receive photos from my HTC Hero. How, with the HTC Desire S, they only get a web link and no photo.

sending photos
have you checked your phone by sending photos to another device?
If Yes and they were received OK then the settings might have dropped or became corrupted on your friends phone.

Send a pic to yourself and this will let u know if your mms service is fine or not.

Problem with Photo Contacts Pro 5.02 & HTC S710

I have an annoying problem with Photo Contacts Pro v5.02... Besides the known profiles issue (I have now disabled advanced profiles in the application) there's a weird problem with the new SMS photo ID. If I recieve a new sms when the phone is in standby I'll newer get any pop-up sms photo ID when I've recieved a new sms, shouldn't there be a sms photo id there when I unlock the keypad and the display lights up? At least that's the way it worked on my previous symbian S60 phones with apps like Fullscreencaller and Skyecaller...
If I recieve a new sms while I'm using the phone I'll get a nice sms photo id pop-up window so no problem there... but I think the sms photo id is pretty useless if it only works while I'm using the phone. Am I the only one with this problem?

MMS Opens in Internet Explorer

[Q] Attached Images not showing via texts?

So i've had a few people send me pictures over text, but they won't show up and I have no way of viewing them. It shows a "Download" button next to the text, but when I click it, it says "Downloading" and doesn't ever show me the image. It just says "Download of Attachment from xxxx was unsuccessful".
I found some related posts on others having problems getting attached images while connected to WIFI on their Epic 4G's, but turning WIFI off does nothing as well.
Any thoughts on why I can't receive/view attached pictures?
I was playing around with it a bit and found that I can send myself an attached image and it works fine. But when my wife sends to me, it doesn't work. She's also on an Inspire 4G.
not being able to send pics.
My problem is that I am not able to send any pics but I can receive them just fine. What can I do?

you could start off by not waking an old thread. search around for MMS fix for whatever rom you are running (which is kinda step3, tell people what you have)
Having mobile data on is required to download mms
Sent from my Inspire 4g using XDA
Pictures are mms messages so in order to download and open phone needs data to be on whether your on Wi-Fi or not. mms works on data only and pics are mms.
You can check your apn settings if data is on and still don't work.

[Q] Inc. SMS Name/Number inconsitency

Hi,
I have noticed that some (not all) incoming SMS display the sender's phone number instead of this name. The sender seems to be properly set up and I can not find any obvious difference.
Anyone got an idea how to always get the name on incoming SMS?
Another issue, some sender appear without their photo. In the contact list they show their photo correctly.
thx
On my device is name and number... Anyone know how to disable numbers in text messages?

This is a problem with me - come from an HD2 running American Android and that never done it, i fully expect a native device not to haha
Sender and number here.
Right try this its worked for me.
Settings-power-fast boot (uncheck it)
Turn off your phone wait a few seconds and switch it on.
Boom! Working
Must be some sort of fast boot state save or something

I also found it on my DS yet, and try to solve with cleaning the data and cache of SMS in Settings->Application->Manage->SMS.
you should have a try as my recommendation

Low quality MMS

Does anyone else receive extremely low quality MMS messages? Any MMS message that is sent to me is less than 20kb. I have tried using both the stock messenger and google messenger with the same results.
I don't know about receiving, but I noticed on my AT&T model that Google Messenger send MMS photos in terrible quality. Sending them from Samsung Messages makes them look much better on the other end.
Open messages app click on more > settings > chat settings > image quality
Samsung has it set to 'best available' by default just set it to 'original'.

My S7 sends MMS messages with high quality using either the Stock Messenger app or Google Messages. Receiving is where I get low image quality

It appears as if my Verizon version does not have this option. I am coming from a Note 5, and the MMS messages I received are fine so I do not think it is the limits of the carrier, however something with the S7

Same issue here and image quality option not there. Poor resolution on Pics sent Via Google messenger on VZW. I'm on a HTC One M8. Any suggestions ?
This problem has been plaguing me for over a year, this is them most helpful information I have found. https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/5gk4y0/mms_resizing_verizon/#bottom-comments
From what I can tell, if Verizon doesn't recognize your phone (mine is on a custom rom) Verizon servers automatically compress incoming MMS to 30-40KB.
"Pixel is resizing the images much more than they should. Take a look at the google pixel product forum. There are many complaints about this.
Every other comment so far is wrong, it's not just due to MMS. Yes MMS compresses/resizes the images to get a smaller file size, but no carrier restricts the image size down to the 30-40KB that Pixel is receiving.
From what I can tell the phone isn't in the carriers MMS phone info database yet, so it doesn't know the phone's capabilities so it defaults to a really old, flip phone user agent that restricts incoming MMS images to 30-40KB.
I have seen other reports of brand new phones having the exact same issue.
So hopefully it's just a matter of time before the carriers fix this.
Edit: I almost forgot, to prove this is an MMS issue and not 'just the way MMS works', download Textra or Chomp and under MMS settings choose Legacy instead of System. I'm not sure what it does, but it forces some other MMS settings to be used and will allow you to receive much higher quality photos."
I finally got it to work better by using Textra and setting it to "legacy" MMS.

Hello!
I have a Samsung Note 8 and I had the same problem, but I fixed it. I am not sure if the set up works the same for all Galaxy cellphones, give it a go anyway
Here's what I did;
° Go to your Messages Settings.
° Under Settings <--> Chat Settings
° Chat Setting <--> Image Size
° Under Image Size you'll have five
(5) selections.
1. Best available
2. Original
3. Large (50%)
4. Medium (20%)
5. Small (10%)
I picked Original. But you can choose the sizes of your choice.
Under "Multimedia Limit" you'll have 2 choices.
1. Automatically accept all
2. Automatically accept files less than 9765 MB in size.
I chose "Automatically accept all"
Good luck!
Marie
If you're on Sprint, they have an algorithm that catches MMS from the stock messenger app and auto downgrades the quality. Third party messenger apps won't, I can only guess the MMS signature is different, so the network doesn't know the type of content and can't auto 1995 picture.
EDIT: To clarify, this does not occur on iOS since all messages route through Apple Servers.

Thanks a million. Your advice just made my old Verizon Galaxy S5 running LOS 15.1 start receiving MMS at a much more acceptable size than before. Now I'd just love to know exactly what Textra's doing to make things work so happily!
