Battery drains faster when phone is off? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Usually when I turn my phone off and try to power it back on it's dead (3-4 hours). It barely drains when in sleep mode however. TF?

So you turn the phone off via hold power button select power off... and then power on via holding power on for about 3 seconds....and the battery drains on you? What rom/kernel are you using??? for those of us on the xda app... try removing the battery instead of simple power off. Weird I must say.

Yeah I thought there might be something wrong with my battery. It basically drains while COMPLETELY turned off. Simply turning off the screen actually conserves more juice.

Ya that's what I used to run while on CM 7.2 and I don't have that issue at all. Weird buy I guess you can try to remove the battery probably wont see the issue. Google the issue.

[Q] cleared battery stats at the wrong time?

Long story short, I cleared my battery stats immediately after my phone turned off from dying. Upon the first boot after that, the percentage meter read 0% for about ten minutes. I rebooted to see if anything would change, and now my meter reads 1% and has stayed there for about 20 min. I unplugged it, and got the message about plugging your phone in, but my phone stayed on for a while. After dying and turning back on, I put it back on the charger, and it's still at 1%. Did I permanently mess up my phone/ battery? Or is there anyway to fix this?
Clearing battery stats does nothing on this, phone you are ok.

True. But a lot of people feel better doing it anyway.
As for the OP just leave your phone charging overnight, shutdown, take the battery out for a minute or two, re-insert battery, power phone on, do battery wipe again (for the heck of it). And your meter should be ok.

you can ask entropy he's the master. I wouldn't keep doing that though buddy let it charge don't keep messing with it. I've been here since day one,its best to not touch that.but do as you please ,and ask entropy for more info i'm sure he'll chime in to back me

Yeah, clearing battery stats does nothing on first-gen GalaxyS devices, including our interim device. Unknown for GS2.
Google MAX17040 for more info. Or search the Infuse forums for "gingerbread fuel gauge" for my debug thread.
Just let it charge a while. When you're at 0-1%, things can get a little wonky as far as power management and charging. Just let it sit a while and don't run it down that much again!

[Q] Odd battery issue

Hi everyone, and merry Christmas. I have an odd battery issue that has been driving me nuts! Every night when i turn my G2x off I lose between 15% and 45% if my battery life. I know this is not an issue with my battery because if i turn off my G2x and pull the battery out when i put the battery back in in the morning the won't even be one percent lost.
I have had this issue on multiple rooms and with multiple kernels. I have had this on EaglesBlood, cyanogen, weapon, and miui. I have had the stock cyanogen kernel, trinity kernel and faux123 kernel. The only time i haven't had this problem was back before i rooted my phone.
Any help you all could give would be much appreciated. Thanks all!

Note the battery charge percent, pull battery, put it back in, let sit overnight, turn on, note battery charge. If it discharged more than a percent or two, phone is probably faulty because it is drawing current when totally off.
This actually happens to me when I leave it off at work for a couple hours. Confuses me as well...

Well, i did what you suggested and when i turned the phone on this morning i hadn't lost a single percent. So, I'm still stumped.

Phone must be drawing current while it's off, which I am pretty sure is happening to me as well. Damnit.

It is obvious that shutting off from the menu isn' t doing what it should, completely shutting off the phone. Backup your ROM then install a vanilla ROM without any additional apps, note battery percent then shutdown from menu and leave overnight then, in the morning boot it up and note if the battery drained. If it didn't, the problem is either an app or the kernel or rom you previously had installed.
So i temporarily went back to a stock ROM and it didn't seen to have the problem. Which sucks because i really don't want to go back to stock....

[Q] Over heating when charging

hey i got a huge problem. when i plug my g2x into charger to charge the phone gets very hot around the camera area and it gets hot when i plug into computer to. Any solutions?
Are you using faux's kernel?

What rom/kernel are you using? Also, are you overclocking?

It`s normal. My phone`s battery also heats up, when I charge it. Maybe it`s because of overclocking.
Press Thanks button, if I helped.

Im using bionex reloaded and the kernal that it comes with. i assume its the oem lg battery cause right now im using my phone with extended battery and it works perfectly. ps my oem battery stopped working this morning and no longer turns my phone on
Check mark "stay awake while charging" option in settings. Then just power screen off the screen, it won't get hot.

I hear this said every single time and I don't know if it works for some people but it never does for me.
The only solution I've found is to underclock your phone to around 600MHz (whatever your step around there is). This can be easily done with setcpu when you create a charging profile.
My phone used to overheat overnight and I'd wake up to a hot and dead phone. Since doing this I never get a hot phone and almost never wake up to a black screen (meaning my alarms will actually go off).
This is on stock battery.
I have had this problem also what worked for me is turning off wifi. Stock battery

[Q] Poor battery life with Team EOS 2.0.0

Hello!
I am experiencing very bad battery life with Team EOS 2.0.0 rom. Earlier when I had 1.0.0 the tablet could go 2-3 days in standby but now with 2.0.0 with the exact same setting it can hardly go through a day! I have not changed anything, I have email on push, pulse news to be updated every 3 hours and that is pretty much it. I also set to keep Wi-Fi on during sleep NEVER, but it didn't help at all.
Can someone please help me?
Thanks!
I went from 2.0 to nightly 110 and I think that improved it. It'll take me a week or two to be sure but you might consider it. I can't be sure it's hard to notice a trend like that, it could be the placebo effect.
Try calibrating your battery, first let your battery drain off entirely! Then plug on your charger and wait until the white light turns green... After that, enter in recovery and select Advanced-wipe battery stats-reboot system, plug off your tablet and when it turn on, see if battery stats is at 100% or 99% if not at that numbers, do that again. After it's on numbers like those it's calibrated and ready to have good battery life I recommend doing this once at 2~3 months

Sorry, I forgot just one little thing... Don't charge it up until it's drained again! Then it's finished... Now it's AOK

Battery life
In my case with 2.0.0 I was not getting much deep sleep. You can use CPU Spy to see it. So even sitting in a bag for hours, with WiFi off, it would drain at about 1%/hr.
I upgraded to nightly 0.98 (newest Stingray) and now the problem seems to have gone away.

Randomly turns off

Hello,
My htc sensation randomly turns off.
The first press of the power button causes the screen to light up a bit then turn off. Then I have to press and hold the power button to turn it on.
This started happening recently. It happens randomly.
At first I thought it had something to do with my current ROM, so I changed it, but it still keeps happening.
Any advice?
Thanks

More information needed, What rom are you using now, what kernel are you using now - sounds to me like a kernel problem
This happens to me too. It started when I upgraded from GB to ICS (Stock Sense 3.5 ROM to Virtuous Quattro). It is really annoying because it happens often if I want to accept a call.
What I did was to completely wipe my phone with 4ext, formated SD Card and formated the phone filesystem to ext4 in 4ext recovery. Then it did not happen for 5 days. Now it starts again. I hope its not a hardwaremalfunction or issue.
ROMs I tried but it still happened:
- Virtuous Quattro
- Virtuous Inquisition
- OpenSensation
- MIUI AOSP from blackwing
- OrDroid 8.1
Maybe I should try the new firmware 3.33 or reflash 3.32 or flash 3.32R2
The strange thing is you cant really recreate it. It happens too unregular.
reflashing firmware sometimes solves the issue
either you can reflash your firmware or ..try an updated firmware
I just flashed 3.33 Universal in. Lets see what it will change
I have a similar problem but not sure what it is. My sensation will charge to a full 100% and once it lowers under 70% it will shut off. When I turn it back on the battery will be some outrageous percentage like 5% or 14%. It immediately dies after every turn on never actually reaches 1%. I've fully wiped flashed several roms so its not software I think. Maybe I need a new battery? Any opinions ?

Perhaps worth a try:
Insert a little piece of paper between the top of the battery and the phone. This will push the battery against the pins and has been known to solve all kinds of silly battery problems.
i read it on a thread here in xda and its worked for me...my phone used to switch off randomly while in my pocket..its a battery issue..remove the back cover and push the battery down..you will notice that there is room for it to go further down..just wedge a piece of visiting card in the gap and see if it works for you..it has for me..

I would definitely purchase a new battery. Get a long lasting battery like Anker. I really love my Anker battery its made a huge difference for me! I'd do it soon! Before the battery dies completely! Best of luck hope this helped.
