[Q]Screen issue, horz lines, bad colors hardware related or rom? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hello,
I'm looking at a friend's Infuse and it seems that the screen is screwed up, I flashed GB official into it some days ago and now the screen displays some discolored horizontal lines and weird colors all over the place.
The image is still discernible, however it seems to me that the screen is broken or something might be loose.
Does anyone know what could be the reason of these issues?
I'll add photos to this post in a moment...
Edit: here they are:

I've never seen anything this bad... if you have restored back to stock with Odin/heimdall several times then it is definitely a hardware issue. I'm sorry

Thank you for your response, unfortunately it seems to be hardware as I have odined back to stock, even downgraded to Froyo and no success.
In LCD tests all the colors are displayed correctly, only when combined or when displaying something of higher complexity is that they look distorted.

Try the heimdall stock route also just to be sure.
The screen looks like an LCD monitor with bad pin connection.
If heimdall didn't make any difference, either open it or warranty it, I guess.

Thanks, no luck with heimdall.
Must be hardware then.

There's been a few reported issue with some sort of corrosion on the circuit board of the Infuse. Those suffers the constant boot loop scenario.
Here, I think may be due to a loose video connection as you may have suspected.
If you hold the phone and tap it into the palm of you hand while the display is ON and see some changes, I would bet that is the problem.
If it's still under warranty, I would take it to the store or send it in.
Obviously, odin or heimdall it back to stock first before you take it in.

[acs][how-to]hardware reset

I dont know where this belongs but can it be stickied in the right spot.
This will help you recover from a true birck
true brick = phone will not power up, no leds lighting up. Your phone trully dose nothing
Ive used this method 3 times so far and have been able to recover. I can not GUARANTEE this will work 100% of the time. My guess is it depends on the cause of the brick. (for me it was some alpha builds of the twilight kernel. sorry tanimn)
1) make sure your phone is powered off (if your bricked you dont need to worry about this)
2) remove the battery dore
3) look beneith the silver camera bezel on the left hand side. youll see a tinyu hole that dosnt look like much
4) insert a ball point pen or bent paper clip inside of the hole and apply some pressure (not to much)
5)hold for 10-15 seconds ( longer if you like )
6) boot the phone directly to dl mode
7) odin ec05 or any stock rom you desire. ( make sure its the full tar ).
Great to hear that there may be a way to fix things if something goes wrong! Even if it saves only one other person's phone!
you sly devil...it looks almost like the other spots in the plastic

This is exactly why I never posted this before. This is the same issues with the i9000. Less then 50% if the people actually have this "magic button". I'm still trying to dig up that thread for reference.
I my self feel the button when pressed. I have recovered from 3 bricks using this "magic button" nubecoder had stated he has seen this button when his phone was disassembled
The reason this thread no exists now is cause I was asked to start a thread after I posted something in the vision kernel thread.

Now I can imagine not every phone having this button, but there would be a hardware revision # diffrence, and we are all on r.5 unless you have a dev or promo phone...

Hard bricks can now be fixed

]Ok since this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359268&page=4 is not sticking out. Mabye this will...hard bricks can now be fixed........
Check it out
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkJQAbwZjRk
From skimming it seams that we can't do it we would have to mail our phones out to the guy in that thread to do it for us?
thats right. But lets not turn this negative. So many people brick. And now there isba solution. Sure it sucks having to send it somewhere. But it is a solution. And if it was as simple as using odin or something. People would find a way to mess it up lol .
$50 beats a brick anyday. Sounds awesome. I have been rooting and roming for a while but have been a little bit more nervous with how expensive this phone is. This will make me a little more confident in flashing.
By the way. http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-brick-repair/

Oh I'm not complaining or turning things negative, just making sure I got the idea of the thread. I'm at work so I skimmed it real fast and didn't read all the pages. 600 for a new phone vs mailing a brick out is good.
It would have been easier to link to his specific site, or something rather than having to read through everything and find the correct link.

Well, it makes no sense, if the chip is fried, then why does it give the error code? The phone can't turn on or do anything when the chip is fried. As there is nothing to make the phone boot or even process, there is no power supply.
Don't know just what I heard. Maybe it isn't true

It's the freaking wireless carriers who are in collusion with our regulatory bodies. They are untouchable and provide only the bare minimum required service while charging maximum dollar for it.
