There's a new thread today with an AOKP rom and it's pretty nice, looks and works well but like you said youtube playback in landscape doesn't work, neither does netflix. It's now up to build 33, hope this one doesn't get closed also. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1615560
Why did the first one close?

Has anyone else experienced really terrible battery life?
My battery is gone after 4 hours with WIFI turned off, this can't be right!
PS I have an Anker battery.

I get horrible battery life in all AOSP roms. It seems the phone very rarely sleeps when the screen is off, caused by AlarmManager. I'm therefore sticking with Virtuous Inquisition for now

Try wiping your dalvik cache , if that doesn't work there might be a rogue app in the background. Use system tuner to find out. Usually I get 2 days with wifi on and minimal usage ( few texts, whatsapp, music )

No it isn't, its aosp EXPERIENCE, meaning it looks like aosp. Its a sense base though, with sense frameworks, a good example is the fact the sense camera is on the rom. They've just removed most of the sense parts and replaced them with aosp stock apps and UI elements. It is NOT compiled from aosp at all. Regarding battery life. There are some kernel wake locks keeping the phone awake in open sensation rom which is what aokp builds their rom from, so until vorbeth gets that fixed in open sensation battery life will suffer. Its improving though, and there are nightly builds available

Bad Bat life and I'm not sure if its just me but the scrolling speed is incredibly slow compared to a sense rom. Basically have to do 10 finger swipes to do 1 swipe with a sense rom.

CM7 Alpha 7 Comments

I just had to tell people, in case you have been worried about trying. I am running this rom right now, the battery life seems improved and the performance is phenomenal. The time I have spent with this phone I have been constantly trying new kernels and roms to see which runs the best, runs games smooth, generally works. And kept coming up with nice looking smooth roms missing the normal umph I am used to.
Updated to C7 A7 today and it works great smooth gaming everything works, the camera is much improved over the previous cm7's. I have no kernel flashed just the one that came with CM7 and it runs games like asphalt 6 perfectly smooth. This is clocked at 1124 as well so it runs cool (Temperature.) .. Fast and Cool Also has 380ish free RAM so it doesn't have allot of background stuff going, I would imaging the battery life is pretty good, don't know for sure yet. And the GPS works quick, connects to 10 satellites sitting on my couch in my living room!
The only real issue is the wifi signal is not as strong, though it doesn't disconnect or anything its just the signal is lower.
I know this is a bit random and what not but I wanted this out here for anyone that was looking for smooth gaming like I was, after all this is supposed to be faster than the tegra chipset!
Cool. I was waiting for it to be out of Alpha, but I may just go ahead and flash it sooner rather than later.
Yeah, take the jump. I haven't found a reason yet to not recommend it to anyone. Been playing with it pretty heavy today too.
Is anyone having issues with the wallpaper not sticking in cm7. Mine keeps changing randomly.

I'm on 6 right now and it's great. Quick and easy just like any other asop or CM rom.
Battery life is the best thing about this rom not including the other great modifications.

for me battery life is the worst thing =[
Battery life - (Light to moderate usage today) I've unplugged it and left it on from 3am to 8am and it showed 100% still. google and xda forum a little like 5mins and it dropped 2%. It hasn't been charged since and its been 15hours with 40% batt life.
Front camera looks hazy, not sure why but it'll probably get fixed by devs sooner or later. lock screen is awesome, really fast. Graphically every thing looks really good. On sense 3.0 we need to unlock to see time, with CM7 we don't need to any longer General text in CM7 is much biggerand Incoming call text is way-way-Wayyyy bigger compared to other roms Thank you devs ! it made it so much easier to see who's calling now.
i've been using various phones for the past few years and they all had this particular problem i've been facing. if someone calls me and hangs up and speed dials and calls me back immediately, my phone would be engaged. on CM7 and that problem has gone away!!! woohoo!!!!
i can't wait for it to go Beta/stable

have you tried clearing your batt stats in recovery ?
its been reported batt charging is a little off for some people. i was charging it last night and it usually takes between 3~4 hours. on CM7 it only took like 1.5 hours.
I've unplugged it after charging and left it on to see how the drainage goes. its seems alright here.
Hmm been thinking about using this but not sure since it's still in Alpha. I will probably just wait until it's out of alpha/beta. I want a solid rom without many glitches/bugs =p

Few people see the serious bugs that others do. I dont see any serious issues with my phone...There are "quirks" but not really bugs. (Alpha 7).
Matt
Use "FXR WIFI fix and rescue" from market..Fixed my low wifi signal bug instantly!!.Still have issue with wifi calling after all update/zip patches.Battery life great after stat wipe and calibration..Stable fast ROM with few bugs @-A7..Already dreaming of a ICS Cyanogen..
I think about 9/10 bugs in the CM7 thread now are due to noob mistakes or people not wiping properly or people restoring bad data into the ROM with titanium backup or its a badly behaving app not the ROM.
This ROM is rock solid for me and many others. Looking at the main thread it might seem otherwise because of all the people reporting errors. Not many happy users pop in to talk about how smooth and stable this ROM is.

[Q] which rom is best for htc sensation?

which ROM do you think is best for htc sensation?
I DIDNT CRACK/FLASH MY PHONE SO PLEASE POST ANY LINK TO PROCEED
i want these apps to work without force closing:
camera like HTC AMAZE
phone calls
HTC SENSE 3.5 (i dont want it like SENSE 3.0, it will restarts every time i uninstall any app)
GTALK WITH VIDEO CALLS
WITH MORE BATTERY LIFE
Bluetooth with audio output
For what you're after I'd have a look at the InsertCoin ROM

What does crack/flash mean. It's S-OFF'ed right?
I would recommend Bulletproof. ARHD eats batteries, and when I was on InsertCoin it was slow and camera FC'ed.
Bulletproof if you want a Sense experience. That ROM is very solid and under appreciated. I like to bounce between Bulletproof and CyanogenMod.
Sent from my CyanogenModded HTC Sensation 4g.
I have to say its Bulletproof for me at the minute, battery life is brilliant compared to any of the others I have tried.
Ok so, I hope this doesn't in terms become a thread jack but, I had recently installed Andorid Revolution HD by Mike and it had it's ups and downs for me, but I wanted something else. My friend had recommended that I try out cyanogenmod, which I did, just flashed it last night. Now the major difference I've noticed is, no HTC sense and very empty, which I liked because it gave me a sense of room to customize my phone more.
The only problem I'm having is, when I had the Revolution installed my battery was much more signficantly better than it is right now. I've done battery calibration and I've had it drop down to at least 25% and then I went to full charge last night. Today I used the phone to drop it down to 38% and then I went to full charge and this is all without any phone calls. Just text messages and Facebook, anyone know what I can do to improve battery life?

Underclock your cpu there is no need for 1.5 really
Use juice defender to manage your connections, (turns them off and on when screen off and on)
Try different kernels
Keep screen brightness down
I find all roms don't report battery stats totally accurate, more so in cm7 builds,
Bare in mind sense 3.5 is in beta
And...
CM7 is still in alpha
If you want perfect builds you'll be waiting a little while
I find insertcoin the one with least errors
But I've not tried bulletproof I will do tho tonight

You just flashed it, expect your battery to be really bad for the first four cycles or so. Fully charge and discharge at least three times. Once it stabilizes, your best bet is to exercise battery conservation practices, like Juice Defender mentioned earlier.

Oh alright, I'll give Juice Defender and Bulletproof a try as well. Yeah I do understand that CM7 is still in the alpha stage.
In terms of "best roms for sensation," what makes CM7 so much more popular? Or all the available roms out there like InsertCoin, Revolution, Bulletproof are just as popular but it depends on the user preference?

ICS port: how is the battery life and browser zoom?

Anyone have a sense of how battery life is on this yet?
Also, does pinch zoom work on more sites? (One thing that is great about Sense browsers is you can zoom in on almost any web content...)
Thanks.
it drains about 10% an hour on mid usage, probably wont last you a day.
the browser is absolutely phenomenal, loving it! however if you are looking to flash kwiboo's version im having some random data disconnects, nothing major, just a heads up.
hope that helps
Battery seems okay. Feels like I've been toying around with ICS all day just checking everything out like the new People app and updated GMail, Messaging and Music. Also played some games. And I'm only down to 85%.
Battery life seems on par with Gingerbread (Oxygen) that I was using before the switch so I'm happy with that. Surprising too considering it's working with a hacked 2.6 kernel.
The browser works beautifully. GPU acceleration is a true gift from the gods, and pretty much the one thing I was really waiting for with ICS. Pinch to zoom works on all sites I've tried.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium.
No noticeable drain from the SDK port as of right now.
Will test throughout a few days to see if it's on par with Gingerbread.
Wow, sounds good.
I may have to pick up another Nexus on Craigslist.
What is not working? (4g, WiFi? anything else?)
Also, does the install change the kernel? Does it change the radio?
(fyi: I used to use james bond and netarchy kernels, and battery life was good enough...)
@hyakuman: in terms of pinch zoom: does text repaginate, or does it just go off the sides of the screen so it's impossible to read without scrolling?

Wifi is working actually, but signal bars don't show.
4g not working, USB storage mount not working, video recording not working, something else and maybe hardware acceleration not fully working.. and well some apps need update for ICS compatibility, but that's not the fault of the rom.
All in all it's very good for a first release.

seriously asking people not to flash this? Care to elaborate on why you would say such things? Look everyone's phones are different and I will just give my experience and let others choose to flash or not. I have ran every possible ics rom or port I could get my hands on from beezy's, kwiboo's, morpheus, and the very latest which is a port of koush's crespo version now on 4g. I have had the most sucess with kwiboo v2 4g after the flashing of the eri fix. Used it all day at work probably 11 hours on battery(franco kernel oc'd) with moderate to heavy use including youtube(on wifi) during lunch. Flashed the koush port an hour ago(clean install) all is well(camcorder works) TB restored all of my apps with a quick settings change(app processing>interactive) hope this answers a few questions.

I would say that the battery life is good if you flash another kernel as well. I'm currently testing Glados kernel with Brainmaster's tweaked ICS v4.
Browser is really good. Web pages load really quickly. zoom can be a little sketchy on sites with only desktop pages.
okay, now I am looking for a used nexus on craigslist

[Q] Help finding a ROM Which isn't laggy

Hi folks,
Somewhere along the line, with all the rom updates that have gone on, I seem to have hit a sour point.
It's as if all of the Sense 3.5 roms i've tried have a laggy app drawer. Like the scrolling feels off and unresponsive.
I've found them to have better battery life though, which is why i've felt the need to update.
I did have a Sense 3.0 rom and kernel combo months ago that was great for both, but I cannot recall which one it was amongst all the updates.
I've just changed from Pyramid 3D 8.30 + bricked 1.6 b6 kernel. Perfectly fast, stable. But the phone drained like 17% overnight in idle which is far too hungry. (Had data and wifi disabled)
That use to be more like 1 or 2% in comparison, i'm not sure if it was the rom or kernel but it's perfectly fast.
I've just gone onto the Energy rom, great rom but it has that awful app drawer lag that drives me nuts. No idea how people aren't bothered by it.
Seems the Sense 3.0 roms are much cleaner and swifter but there don't seem to be any of those around now.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I'm already using the Anker battery.
im on the same page as you but as you have stated sense roms are not perfect and need some work still, im hoping that ics will fix this but time will only tell..
For now i suggest looking at arhd 4.1.9 which imo is the fastest and most stable sense rom but you should also look into trips aosp rom just for a look, this rom shows the potential of the phone as it is super quick and responsive it actually made my gaw drop with amazemnt.
What's the camera like on those AOSP ones tho?
Like i said you should have a look at the aosp just to see what its like but as for its stability it does have a few problems, crashes here and there and the camera should work but for me it doesn't.

Actually Piramid 3D 8.30 is based on HTC official 3.0 Sense and official 1.73.401.2 XE ROM - Android 2.3.4, did you wiped battery stats after charging continously from less than 5% to 100% in 8-12 hours time? If you did this, only idea I have is to change kernel to Bricked-v1.5-ondmnd-1536-192.show-p1984 and installing cam-fix.zip straight after to have working camera. I'm using this one now with SENSEaY 2.1.0, installed Virtuous O/C flashable.zip and Virtuous Controller.apk by myself to get rid of SetCPU, everything runs smoothly. For me battery lasts for 30-40 hours of moderate use (3G + xda app, some calls, texts, internet). With screen off it seems to drain 1% every hour.

Do you know any stable ICS AOSP ROMs for the Sensation?
Have not seen a stable ICS AOSP rom yet, most ICS roms are like a beta so expect issues for a while.
Answering the original poster, RevertedASOP is a gingerbread 2.3.7 aosp build; it is my daily driver and has zero lag for me, even when underclocked on Faux's kernel. No sense components of course, but if it is speed you are after then try it out.

Rooted, flashed Virtuous ROM, now what else to do?

Hey all,
I have a very fun and exciting cell phone now thanks to rooting my phone and installing the Virtuous Inquisition ROM on my phone.
However, now that I've done all that, I've got the itch to do more to my phone. I really like VI as a ROM, but is there anything else I can do to my phone?
Thanks!
Flash hypernonsense, it's like VI but with the remaining few bugs fixed, better battery life (with stock kernel) and a later ICS build. Make sure you have firmware 3.33 to avoid reboots.

I've been tempted to flash hypernonsense too, as its basically like an updated VI. How is firmware 3.33, do you have any wifi signal issues and if so where are you based? Its the only thing holding me back, as I've seen people saying that their wifi is affected after upgrading to 3.33.

I'm in the UK, 3G signal strength is improved and wifi is no different than it was in VI - it all works perfectly including tethering.
The biggest improvement is battery life - over 1d 16hrs, with 5 to 7hrs screen on time is the norm now (using the Anker 1900).

Does this rom have any bugs that stop you using it on a daily basis?
I'm experiencing a GPS issue with CM9.1 so may need an alternative but I'm not keen on sense anymore so want to stick with the whole stock android look/feel.
Really like the way CM9 works in comparison to CM7, it may just be the change over from gingerbread to ICS but its awesome.

I have no idea, never installed either of those. I aim for a lightweight ROM with maximum battery life as I need the phone for what it can do, rather than eyecandy and features I don't use.
It's as close to an AOSP ROM that has everything working, if that helps.
