Wifi Calling App from One S ROM TMO US Version? - HTC One S

Hello,
If anyone is lucky enough to have the new US Version of the HTC One S for T-mobile?
If so would it be possible to post the wifi calling app? It would be great help as this is the fist device T-Mobile has released with ICS and the updated wifi calling app.
Thanks!

On the new wifi calling phones there isn't an app, it's built into the framework and accessed through settings > wireless & networks

Thats great news! So wifi calling has an always on option still I assume right?
I live off of it with bad reception at my apartment building so I'm glad to hear it will be built into the HTC one S

Betting there's still something that could be done to get it into custom roms.

Of course there is a chance WiFi calling is the same as the gs2built into the framework and they managed to get it working on customs roms

I'm using the wifi calling one s daily and it works differently than it did on my sensation....
The one s shuts down the mobile network and displays the no signal x next to the bars, and all calls and text run off wifi. The sensation would keep the network running alongside wifi. The one s is very stable doing this. A custom rom would require a base framework to build on. I don't think it could be added in

That's cuz its just a standalone apk with a few libs in the system. And T-Mobile hasn't released ics yet for the sensation so the old gingerbread apk isn't working right on ics and it won't until T-Mobile releases the ics update if ever.

Tmo did release ics for sensation not too long ago. I wonder why the devs couldn't integrate it properly..... Things like this is what's keeping me from modding the one s

Second that...It's so flawless so far (aside from the bloatware, all of which could either be disabled or removed w/o root) I'm afraid to mess with it.

Virtuous Team is working on the integration for their next release. No final results yet, but you can watch progress in their RootzWiki Thread.

FYI, I've been monitoring this thread looking for the ICS WiFi calling app, but found it elsewhere so thought I'd share in case anyone else is watching this thread. EdKeys has it for Desire/G2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1664106) and bigmoew for Sensation (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654940)

I rooted my phone and updated to trickDroid 2.1 (US T-Mobile) but the Android WiFi tethering app didn't work. I downloaded FoxWi and I had no problem connecting after that.

I did a complete wipe, as I wanted to reloaded the OS at the same time, though I'm betting it would work just by downloading and flashing the radio with .19 (VISION_RADIO_12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19.zip), installing the wifi calling app (VisionWifiCallingv1.2_Android4.x.x.zip), and finally wiping the cache, dalvik cache and EFS (by installing vision_wipe_efs-signed.zip).
I can't include the links as I haven't been a member long enough, but they are in EdKeys' post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664106.
Don't forget that I'm on the G2, NOT the One S.

next time try not to post misleading stuff. the g2 you are using has nothing in common with the htc one s and we are talking about the htc one s wifi calling feature not about some random phone on xda forums.

Sorry, I figured if we we had it for the G2 and Sensation it should be available for the One S with simple modifications.

Not quite....thanks for trying to help though. WiFi calling has been integrated for stability purposes....With a standalone app, it was liable to drop calls a lot more. At least that was my experience with the Sensation. Now it's much better and more stable. Virtuous will get it working, and hope they provide a how-to so we can get it working on other ROMs that aren't T-Mobile US....
Thanks for trying to help out though....

Is there an HSPUA enabler?

I heard AT&T locked the hspua feature on the inspire and will enable it in the summer or so..., i rooted/s-off mine and installed CM7 rom, does it enable the hspua too? Thanks for any help!
Some roms do and some not, i'm not familiar with cm7 but here's a link to manually editing the build prop so you can enable it manually if cm7 does not. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982082
It's already enabled on CM7. If your upload speed is faster than 200kbps you're set

I might be wrong, but I don't believe cm7 supports 4G yet (remember it being an issue with the evo).

I had an issue where I lost hspua after messing around with some different radio flashes. Regardless of what I wiped, flashed or whatever I couldn't get it back.

You should be able to flash basically any radio besides stock and have hsupa on any rom. I am on cm7 w/ the radio in my sig and get anywhere from 1.5- 3 Mb up constantly. And yes CM7 supports "4g" the reason it did not work on the evo is because that is real type of 4g, as to where att's 4g is merely upgraded backhaul to enhance speeds. Has something to do with the RSA keys that the evo uses to enable 4g if I'm remembering correcly. If you need any help pm me, and i could probably walk you through.
I have it back now. I think I screwed things up by flashing too many radios. All is well now

Solution for T-mobile US Wifi Calling on ICS Roms?

Hello,
I have a Sensation 4G and having flashed many different ICS Based ROMs (CoreDroid, Android Revolution HD, RCMix etc) and it seems that the Wifi Calling does not work due to the fact the app is not compatible with ICS. Now that the first HTC Device running ICS has been released (THE ONE S) I assume this has the updated wifi calling app that would work on the Sensation ICS Roms. I have been trying to get the Rom so I can extract the Wifi Calling App but so far no luck. Anyone think this is worth a shot?
Trying to find a way to get Wifi Calling working on our Sensation with ICS!
Thanks Devs you are a talented bunch!
Any ICS rom I try that includes wifi calling, it works fine.

Well considering the One S on T-Mobile does NOT support WiFi calling yet, I'd say no, its not worth a shot. The app is not present on the T-Mobile software currently running on the One S.
Remember WiFi calling is from tmob not HTC and they have not updated it yet so just wait for a bit but yeah if we want WiFi calling that's were we will get it from

The T-Mobile branded HTC One S does have Wifi Calling. Out of the box. The difference is, in my understanding, that it is now baked into the ROM. It is no longer a separate app.
The ZDNet review mentions using it on the device, for example (sorry, not allowed to post links), google it, it's from April 18.
I've used it...the software I saw did NOT have support YET (at least not on the demo/review unit I saw). I know it definitely is going to support it though, especially with the eventual launch of T-Mobile's gen 2 WiFi calling. As for the ZDnet article I can't comment, as I haven't read, and don't plan to read it, however, I will say that I saw the unit personally before April 18, so maybe software has updated in anticipation of tomorrow's launch.
Either way the best bet for pulling the updated libs and app is the newly leaked Amaze 4G ICS build here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1615164
Thank you so much Behold_this, your a genius! I'm going to see if I can find the Wifi Calling libs and modules and app and report back with any luck.
As of my testing, The ICS roms with sense 3.6 for the sensation 4g has had the Wifi Calling problem where it crashes when you make / receive a phone call. The wifi calling app works for SMS and MMS messages fine though. Just not phone calls.
The updated version will be better compatible with ICS.
Just remember to deodex the Rom before you pull the app
Thanks again for the advice. I have not been able to successfully figure out which apps / libs need to be pulled and deodexed. Still promising though

[Q] ROMs with Zero Issues?

Try the new Miktouch 0.7 ROM. It is based on the latest OTA (1.63.531.2) and IMO is the most functional ROM available. And it is very smooth and quick, great battery life. The improvements that HTC made to the ROM, as well as the tweaking and cleaning up that the devs did, make it my daily driver. I want everything to work, no "gotchas".

Hello,
I can recommend Virtuous Inquisition to you. Its an ICS 4.0.3 ROM that I am running on my HTC Doubleshot since round 2 weeks and its really good! Till now I did not have any issues with anything but some minor things (once in a while you lose WiFi connection which you can enable again just by switching WiFi off and then on again. This happens only if you do not use WiFi and the phone falls sleep mode - the screen turns black).
The configurations are limitless. It comes with NOVA launcher. I bought the premium version and am very happy with the capabilities and possibilities it gave me!
In case you want HTC Sense, you can check out Virtuous Primadona. I did not try this one but read quite many reviews and its also stable and seem to be running nicely on Doubleshot.
The good thing on Inquisitin is, the WiFi calling is integrated. As I am from Switzerland it took me a while to finlly remove it ^^
Cheers

But if the Wi-Fi continuously disconnects when the screen goes off and must be reawakened to work, that really defeats much of the function of Wi-Fi Calling. How can you receive calls if your wi-fi is disconnected?

I agree that is why I stopped using inquisition...... I am happily using cm9 but if you want three zero problem roms then stock I suggest mik mik v.7, for a beast gingerbread the rubix ics splashed, or if you want ics with minimal issues then cm9 untill the soft keyboard issue is fixed on aokp then I would switch to that.... Virtuous seem to have some issues with wifi, though I was talking with tbalden and he said he's working on kernel 3 atm which shows no issues with wifi or 3G / 4G... So let's wait for the next upgrade
For me wifi works good, sometimes it bugs a bit though... Don't forget here they are stil in ROM development so some minor things are not perfect.
You can still try Virtuous Primadonna, got an update a few days ago. For me Cm9 did not work so good, force closing many apps, changed back to inquisition. I suppose we'll have to wait for another month or so to get a rc rom (Cm9, pyro, virtuous or another..)

BulletProof is a great ROM. Along that same design idea is DoubleShot Lite by Ceede. Another you might be interested in is Miui v0.3 and those are just the Gingerbread ROMs I've found to be rocksolid and near flawless. Then you have some really nice ICS ROMs that are coming along NICELY! Believe me, you won't be dissappointed with any of them unless you just happen to be looking for a little issue hidden somewhere.
So tbalden released kernel 3 vinq (ICS 4.0.3) for doubleshot: virtuous.prp2.com/doubleshot/inquisition/virtuous_inquisition-v4.0.2-doubleshot-kernel3_v2.zip
Very recommendable, everything working, very stable, oc to 1.7ghz like Cm9...
As wifi is working also w/o any issues now (at least for me), I assume you can use wifi-calling with vinq... It's integrated btw.
Hope I could help you

[Q] 4G icon on a few ROMs.

Hey everyone, I have two favourite ROMs on these forums but I've had an annoying problem with both. It's SickSense and Nocturnal. When I install these ROMs there's always a 4G icon regardless of my current connection. If I'm on Wifi, there's still an annoying 4G icon. I've flashed the Stock System UI and it's still there.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the constant 4G icon?

I'm waiting.
I'm on the Telstra One XL, same issues, because our network goes 3g / Next G / 4g, with NextG sort of being the equivalent of your 4g, and 4g being the equivalent of your LTE. Poor thing doesn't have a clue what to do. I got stuck into the systemui.apk last night and had a look, but the work involved swapping the icons out and getting the xml right on a few glasses of port looked a bit daunting. I'm just gonna stick it out.
More annoyingly for the Telstra phone, we have an option in connections called Network Mode which enables us to hop from LTE (4g) back to NextG very easily, none of the custom roms have it.

Where to begin

I've rooted my inspire and my nook color and have custom roms on them. I'm used to the android system and how it works. I was just wondering what rom would be suggested for my inspire. I just got the phone secondhand from a friend and I'm not sure what people consider the best rom for the inspire as there are always like 40+ for each system and only 2-3 are good ones.
Thanks for the advice,
Potticus
I was also wondering if there as a way to boost my network signal. My iphone 4 gets full service in my bedroom but hte Inspire gets 1-3 or so. I'm running Android Revolution for the inspire btw.

There is no "Best ROM" its all personal preference. Theres Sense, AOSP, MIUI. Youll just have to try them and see for yourself. To boost your signal you can try flashing new radios+rils
Trial and error really, I have tried cm7 and it was pretty good. If your looking for a suggestion I'm really liking ice cold sandwich by lord clockan

Sent from my Inspire 4G Ice Cold Sandwich
Ok well, I've given Android revolution a shot, not for me. And I'm on Coredroid with the Lee kernal, But that confuses me a bit more. There is five different kernals to chose from?
As far as radios and rils, I've done my reading but that seems to be a total cluster**** as far as hunting down combos and what not. Could you direct me towards a combo that might work in the Southern states (Oklahoma to be exact) Also I've checked the guide and I've got to turn something or other off. I've turned off eng but not the other.
What might be the major differences shortly summarized between AOSP and MIUI and Sense. All I've tried is Sense to this point.
Read op of radio thread in the dev stickies. It will explain radio ril combos. As for a Rom its trial and error. Since the DHD has had more updates almost all of the roms for the inspire are based off of DHD roms. I personally beleive that anything based on an inspire Rom will give a better user experience as far as everything working the way it should. However the dhd roms have a lot more options. Att just did release our sense 3.0 Rom on the 31st so maybe we will see a little more inspire based roms going up. Still though we won't be seeing any sense 3.5 or higher roms based off of anything made specifically for the inspire and American data network. If you can sacrifice the sense interface than I would say hands down aosp is the way to go, but I myself am stuck on sense for now, and I HATE miui. But its all opinion.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
I've been reading his thread, but I'm not sure I got the radio installed? I've tried going to bootloader but I can't seem to get it to work through his instructions.
"A. Radio - Download the PD98IMG.zip file. Place this file on the root of your SD card. Reboot to bootloader. When prompted, press the Volume Up button to install. Then reboot."
I'm not sure I'm getting the correct prompt or one at all.
I'm using coredroid until I can get all this figured out right now. (actually I'm going to ice sammich, thanks to the guy that posted it) I grabbed the latest ATT radio+ril combo for the inspire just as a starting point.
The only message i got from bootloader is "parsing the .zip" then it just goes back.
Woah! grabbed a different radio from the one I was trying, and it worked!(HTC-RIL 2.2.0160HM)
Going to install the RIL right now, let's hope we've made progress to better signal. Aswell as the ICS i'm going to load on it.
Usually when it just says parsing and goes back its either a bad download or an issue with the SD card

Only use radio. Don't flash the ril. Ril is included in Rom anyways. Ics is aosp so don't mess with the ril. It will mess things up. Ril is for sense roms.

Ok thanks, I put another copy of it on there and it worked. But the SD card is fine, I use it for nook flashes and whatnot.
I already did... but I'll reflash ICS now that you say that. Good call!
Am I safe to flash a few different radios over the next 2-3 weeks to check the connection without having to change anything else?

Yeah radios are fine to play with as long as you stick to inspire threads. Stay away from ones with rc data unless you know it matches all three radio/ril/rom.

Ok how do I know it matches up? Also, I'm on ATT and it won't read my contacts off my sim card or show me my phone number and carrier in the software informations/settings part of hte rom.
Currently I'm using the recommended radio(26.06.06.30_M AT&T) with the inspire .5 mod found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131256

That is the disadvantage to using roms that aren't supposed to run on our phones. Read up about Ics in the forums and see what issues are known and decide if you can live with them or if they can be fixed. There is a ton of information in these forums and pretty much already a thread for every question you could ask. That's why people say you just have to test them and and figure out which ones will work for you. The same goes for all the Rom/radio/ril combos. The radio thread is the best place but there are also many threads on the subject.

So far, I'm willing to deal with it. Just takes 20 minutes of reentering contacts into my phonebook. The phone number part wasn't an issue, just wondering if that was a problem.
And I just switched to the non RCdata radio at your suggestion.
My battery seems to be 100% better, I've lost 4% in the course of about 2 and a half hours.
