Stuck no recovery. No nothing. - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a sl101. I only get eeepad screen. My son did something to the machine. I can get it to say booting recovery but nothing happens. I also can get a text that says cold booting Linux. Again nothing happens. Nvflash says USB write fail. But when I check adb the device is recognized. Is there a way for me to adb push a recovery in there for me to boot too, so I can reflash a rom. I have a little dilema here. I also was wondering if I can flash rom thru adb. I read once that's how they used to do it on g1. I don't know if I am speaking accurately though. Any kind of light shed on me will be greatly appriciated

not sure about the slider but i had a customer return yesterday with this exact issue on the tf101 and i couldnt get out of it. the tf just kept switching itself back on and getting stuck on the splash screen.
found this set of instructions but im not sure if its what you need or if it will work:
http://androidroot.mobi/technical/asus-eee-pad-transformer-tf101-root-cwm-recovery/
good luck

That is exactly what is going on with mine. The slider is basicly the same thing. I plug it in and I tries to boot. I thought you had to be booted into recovery or the rom for adb to work? That's why I believe this method you just revealed to me. Or some variation of it will work. I will be trying shortly.

nvflash if your TF101 is compatible model.. (must B60 and below).
Or read Wolf's thread HERE. It might helped everyone here..

Thanks but everything needs adb connexion and as apx is not working, i can't connect ADB..
I have a B50 model

Nobody have a clue ?
well, I have to send it back to my reseller that will change it but before that I need to delete clockwork mode or brick it, how can i do ?
I tried every thread here, update rom does nothing, looks like it does not write anything on the tablet
Thanks in advance

try to follow this procedure...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25636698&postcount=5
let me know

Hello, thanks, but as I can't get to apx mode, I can't use nvflash, so still stuck with my recovery, I tried to modify super Wipe package to do things but can't get through...
If someone can make a package to delete recovery, then I can try it on my tablet, I really yneed it to be bricked cause now it load with Rogue's recovery on and on, so the reseller will new it has been modified and I will have to pay to get it back ...
Thanks in advance

with the procedure posted in the previous link you don't need APX mode and don't need NVflash...
Just boot your TF in recovery mode and plug it to your pc...
remove all previous drivers and install the new one that you can find in the post
ciao
ps... at the end of the procedure you will have your TF101 with stock rom and stock recovery

I will try but even when I am on recovery, nothing appears in Hardware management, no recognition from My computer, still strange... And when I power + vol down key, It never says to presse vol up in the text in the upper left corner, just says booting linux kernel...
When I try to boot pressing vol up + power, nothing happens, not even the clics that can be heard when it powers up...

I had a similar issue when I used SuperWipe and discovered my ROM on the external SD Card could not be accessed by CWM
I tried pushing the file with adb but kept receiving errors - protocol, etc. I suspected it was a driver issue along with the fact that 64 bit systems don't always play nicely with drivers. I actually dug up an old hard drive and did a very basic install of 32bit Win7. I booted the Transformer into CWM and when I connected it to my PC - I pointed it to the universal naked driver. I was then able to successfully push the rom to internal storage and used CWM to flash it

Hello,
I tried to connect my tablet to an old Windows 2000, but still nothing happens

Hello every one, I finally sendt back my transformer to my reseller, now I can buy a new one...
Thanks again

[Q] Need help ics update wiped out my cwm

Hi every one,
My transformer was working fine... then came ICS, I was prey of the savage need to update, Made a backup with CWM and download the new rom.
What i did first was wipe cache and data, so far so good, flashed the ICS revolver beta, but in some point I screw it up and it just didnt boot anymore, just keep rebooting to CWM, couldnt turn off it keept rebooting, so I tryed flashing the new rom and... nothing it kept rebooting to CWM so I flashed back to revolver 3.1.* In booted OK, was runing fine till It crashed and restarted and couldnt get to CWM any more, Used NVFLASH trying to reinstall it but the screen stays off Windows detects it as a APX device but NVFLAS doesnt work since its a B70... it shows some letters in the screen but does nothing.
Please help me. Is there other way to install CWM maybe get acces to the files in the internal memory trough ADM or APX??
I would really apreciate any help, Im desperate!!!
Best regards,
IaxBay
Sounds like your recovery is missing. Can you still boot into revolver? If so reflash CWM recovery from within revolver.
Dead transformer?
Yes you are right, I think I messed up the CWM but cannot get into android at all.
Actually the tablet doesnt start, If I press the power button, or power+vol up or power+vol down... nothing works, but when I plug the usb windows recognice it and make the sound of device found, Actually It apears in device manager. I can get into APX, wich gives me hope... theres maybe a way to acces trough APX to install recovery or something...
If APX work and you have SBK v1, Tran Rouge has am nvflash version of their recovery
Yesss its alive!!!
Thanks so much to the creators of nvflash for saving my transformer.
it Actually my transformer happens to be a B70 I still it has to be SBK1.
Just follow thevinstructions of a video I found somewhere Ill post the link later cause i cannot seem to find it , anyway its working and im writing my horrible english in my revived tf101. Lesson lerned: READ A LOT about what your are going to do before you do it.
Thanks again XDA

B70 bricked - is there no way out?

Been modding android devices since the G1 but never got stuck like this before. Already spent hours of searching and googling but couldn't find any definite answer.
My B70 got bricked when using a program to boot into recovery.
Is there any way out or should I just throw it away?
I have a feeling that the device is looking for a recovery on internal SD card and fails. I can see the unit as ADB unit but when trying to connect it says device is offline both in normal boot or in recovery boot.
Been trying putting stock roms on external SD but it never runs it.
Has anyone solved this problem?
Check your SBK version and try to NVFlash
Try to boot recovery/apx wipe permissions /data if possible
post questions in Q&A not Dev
After a lot of examination it has been decided that you have posted this in the wrong section and we shall place it where it should be. Please make sure you post correctly next time.
Like mentioned already, some B70 are SBKv1 meaning nvflashable.
What app did you use to get into recovery causing the "brick"
Can you still get into cwm recovery, ect.
you still have hope if ADB can see it, try to update your driver.
If it work use ADB to push the file you need.
Sorry for wrong thread.
I probably have SBK2 (how to check) because usb just disconnects as soon as I try to run any nvflash stuff.
I also believe that ADB could be the saviour but it says offline. So this could be due to driver issue? Interesting, I shall try on a 32 bit computer.
If I suceed to connect through ADB, can I then flash CWM recovery?
The app I used to get into recovery was just a random boot into recovery app. It worked many times before. I don't think taht app caused this, maybe the recovery files where deleted?

You can use SBKdetect to check your SBK version (linux)
Did you have CWM before? Are you rooted?
What is your tablet doing right now? Stuck at the start up screen?
My tablet was previously running rooted ICS WW .11 with CWM.
Now its just stuck at the first boot image. I can go into same image where it tries to run recovery image by holding vol down. I guess it is standard brick.
Not getting anywhere with ADB, device is offline
hmm.. can you cold boot? just hold vol-down and wait?

Search on here for the universal naked driver. Try that or sometime if you can try a different usb port.
Can you get into CWM Manually?
Hold VOL DOWN and POWER for about 10-12 seconds until some small text appears.
Quickly (within 5 seconds) release both buttons and hit VOL UP to enter RCK (Recovery).
If you can get into CWM this way you should be able to clear some caches and see if it will boot. If need be, you may be able to flash a new ROM if need be.
I only got the naked ADB drivers to work. The real ASUS ones does not work. Only tries 64 bit though.
Of course I tried to go into recovery manually.
Actually I now remember that just before this happened I updated CWM through the clockwork app. Probably updated to a version that does not work.
Since you have ADB working, download a CWM flashable .zip from your favorite recovery thread and extract the recoveryblob.
adb push it to /temp/dd or something similar, then run adb shell, su, and (you will need root/busybox on here) dd if=/your/blob/here of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4.
after running that, run reboot, you should see a blue line and be able to get into a good CWM recovery. never use rom manager.
Thing O doom.
It always says my device is offline using ADB. I have only got naked driver to work.
But now I saw the NVflash for B70+ devices in your post. I will try that tonight.
I have not given up.
Yes, that is probably your only hope if you can't get ADB working, and it just came out! Lucky day
Yes, thank you all!! Finally NVflash for B70+ devices saved my day. Reflashed original ROM.

Stuck! Hep! Won't get past Asus screen or go into apx mode

Ok, I swear I have read 100 pages of similar problems, but it looks like everyone else is able to get into apx mode at least to run nvflash or easy flasher.
1. Turn on xformer with power button - stuck at Asus Eee Pad screen
2. Try to boot into recovery with vol - + power;
- volume up to enter recovery, ded android with an exclamation
- volume down to choose between 'wipe' and 'cold boot' both result in getting stuck at Asus screen
3. Plug in xformer, hold power and vol +; nothing. Never shows up in device manager and it doesn't beep or anything like the ones in all the videos do.
I really just want to get up and running at the very least, as I handle all of my businesses billing through my xformer, but my ultimate goal is to get on the HD-ROM.
I have downloaded the newest firmware from asus, have all the drivers installed (I think), have tried booting into recovery with one, some or all of the new software on the sdcard.
Any more ideas I can try? Do you just have to hold your mouth right to get it into apx mode? I have held those buttons so much I think I'm getting Nintendo thumb!!!
Thanks all!
nobody?
Throw something at me! What update.zip file do I put on the sd card? I have tried putting the newest asus update.zip on there with both its original name and the update.zip name. still comes up with a dead android and an exclamation point.
Download a firmware from Asus, rename it to EP101_SDUPDATE.zip
Put it on the root of your sd card and boot into recovery, hopefully it will flash it and let you boot up.
As for NVFlash, make sure you install teh APX driver.
Still won't get past about a second or two of trying to boot with EP101_SDUPDATE.zip on the sd card. Think I'm stuck, or is there something else I need to try?
Thanks!!
..Do the apx process and try using brks tool......just dont flash touch recovery! I couldnt get the drivers to show but still managed to nvflash recovery using the tool. Its install solarnz external sd recovery so you can put a rom zip onto micro sd.
My issue was after doing this normal on off reboot kept booting to recovery and i had to cold boot into the rom.
I tried the wheelie beta and it has ended up wiping the tf completely.....so dont do that lol. Its still a soft brick as i could still nvflash recovery but decided that aslongs its wiped of root etc id just send it to asus.
If brks tool flashes for you then id try nvflashing prime and see if that works.......i think it will but i ran out of time and patience this morning to do it......at your own risk of course.

i am the same issue by flashed the touch CWM and window wont able to reconigzed my TF as a APX device
i tried many drivers it still not able to work.
how can i get back to normal CWM? i dont have havy roms or update.zip in internal roms.. and Touch CWM wont able to recongized Removerable sdcard
god~~
The root and backup option should flash you an external recovery.
While tablet reboots hold down volume up and power until reboot stops.
Then try brks tool again and select root and backup.......during the process it may ask if you want to back up but its not worth while as i dont think theres anything to backup. You should end up with ext micro sd recovery.
As i said id look for the prime rom thread and download the nv flash version and see if it works first.
If asus restore the wiped TF without question and everything goes ok il let you know as it may be worth wiping it with wheelie nv recovery and just RMA.
I just simply CAN'T get it into apx mode. I've installed, uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. Trying to flash ep101_sdupdate.zip still just results in an error. crap.
Hold Volume-UP BEFORE holding power, then hold power for 5 secs (Still holding vol-up( doing this all while connected. It should show in device manager.
Couldnt get Tf to show in device manager either no matter what.
I know it may not seem as though its in apx but if it has stopped rebooting when you do v up and power then it seems it is......
Seems to be an issue thats starting to become more common and very difficult to fix properly.
PC will just not recognise the TF.
Hmm - sorry i couldnt help more but id still try nv flashing Prime and if you can get to a blank screen using volume up and power without the TF rebooting theres a chance its in apx.
Best of luck dude.......

same case for me~~~just cant install the driver
You all can try running Puppy or DSL (damn small linux) in a virtual box on your windows pc. Comes with drivers included and only is a 200/60 Mb download.

no better way to fix it than that
nice one
Yea, I like it pretty good so far. Volume is WAY louder on the 300, even though there is only one speaker. The screen also gets darker, which is nice if you watch tv or browse the interwebs in the bed. Also, wifi reception is great. Haven't tried gps yet, but I'm sure it is improved.
It did get really laggy, but I did a factory reset and it seemed to clear out the cobwebs.
Thanks for y'all's help! I'm still going to try to unbrick that tf-101 and sell it or something. Hate to have a $400 paperweight...
People will buy bricked ones on Ebay for a reduced price, just clarify that it is in fact bricked.

Bricked and Stuck

Hello, first time posted, long time browser...
So, I have a bricked (or almost totally bricked) LG G2X. Here is what I did:
I had flashed the Hellfire Sandwich 1.9 rom and was just fine...until my phone started turning off randomly. After reading somewhere here that I should nullify my phone and the re-flash the rom in order to fix my issue.
So, I backed up my data and downloaded the Aroma Nullifier from Volk (thanks for all you do). I booted to recovery and ran the Nullifier. Once the Nullifier had stopped, still while in Recovery, I tried to access my sdcard to re-flash my Rom...well, I couldn't access my SD card. Furthermore, I couldn't unmount the SD or mount the USB Storage.
Here comes the big mistake:
So, as I was doing some research about how to proceed, my USB cord wiggled out of the phone and my phone lost power. Now, since I had read from Volk not to let that happen, I knew I was in trouble.
At this point, I can only load into the LG Boot Screen and my computer loads drivers for "Asus Android Device" (I have the Asus Transformer Prime Tablet) and under that title "Asus Android Bootloader Interface". No APX, No USB Controller....no other communication.
Last little note, I took the phone to the Tmobile store on a hunch one of the guys who works there had some experience (which he did), and while he was trying to boot into recovery from battery power (something I have been unable to do) he got the USB communication interface...something like "S/W Do not disconnect".... Since then, I have not been able to reproduce that interface.
I am at the end of my abilities...I haven't seen anything that addresses this particular problem though I have tried a bunch of solutions without success. I have looked all through XDA forums, but if there is one I missed, please let me know.
Any thoughts would be very helpful.

If you haven't already, I recommend looking into nvflash. I'm almost certain you'll be able to fix this. nvflash works at a very low level, requiring that you connect your phone without a battery using a special startup sequence. You will need the APX driver (for Windows) to make it recognize your phone in this recovery mode. At that point, you should be able to flash CWM using nvflash and go from there. If you can't get into recovery, I seem to recall flashing the stock ROM itself with nvflash.
This thread should help you: forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/archive/t-1503546.html (I can't link yet)
Specifically, the link in the "I solved it" post.
Good luck, and let us know when you get it working :good:

Thanks for the thoughts. I will try that all again, but I have tried nvflash and tried updating APX drivers. My computer only recognizes the phone as an "Android Bootloader Interface". When I try to manually update/change the drivers for the "Android Device", there is a problem with 64-Bit operating System (Windows 7 Home Premium). I was going to try to boot the computer in Safe Mode, but I don't know if that will help.
I haven't been able to communicate with the phone, and only saw the S/W Upgrade screen once and that was in the Tmobile store without access to my computer.
I am going to try those suggested steps again. Thanks again.
Leigh
Got it going....
THANKS SO MUCH. I knew I was missing something stupid. I kept reading the nvflash instructions and pressing the Power and Volume Down button instead of Volume Up and Down.
Things are going again. Thanks so much.

[Q] [HELP NEEDED] Asus TF101 Stuck on splash screen ADB doesn't work!

Right, I searched on numerous pages on these wonderful forums, but couldn't quite find what I was looking for. So I'll try my luck here. I'll describe my problem.
My TF101 was rooted using the CWM recovery. After doing more research I found out I shouldn't be doing this. But, unfortunately the damage has already been done. After several succesful ROM installations I wasn't quite happy with, I tried one last CM10 install. That's when it all went to ****. My TF101 has been stuck on the Eee Pad splash screen for nearly 2 months now.
Normally when going into the recovery mode I can simply select install from SD card and install a new rom. Now it can't seem to mount and displays E:Can't mount \SD card or whatever.
Further on, I tried using the ADB tools to manually restore system files. Without luck. After which I tried to install the naked USB drivers using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426502. Without luck as well. I simply ran out of ideas.
The thing is, in Device manager I do see a device called Android. But, for some reason I can't seem to install any drivers for it. I guesse this would be the first step towards getting it back to work? Or perhaps I should just get it fixed at the computer store?
Any sugestions would be more than welcome!
Easy Flasher will get you back to stock as long as you can access APX. You will lose all data however.
1st mistake read forum before you do something, coz you would have learnt abt CWM issues, anyway thatsvan old story
You got Two options, find an flash able twrp.zip and flash it using current recovery if its still working otherwise as the other guy says easyflasher
To use easy flash you need
Easy flash software from forum
Universal naked driver installed
Asus firmware and PATIENCE
Follow the steps given in the forum and you should get back a tablet running stock rom, then if you want then use easy flash to root your device again but this time use TWRP recovery.....
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda app-developers app
Right, so far I've done everything I could find. I have installed the naked ADB files and thus was able to make a connection through USB. However, I wasn't able to push any files onto the tablet through ADB commands.
I entered the (what I assumed to be) APX mode and tried to use EasyFlasher. It seemed to have worked, because a DOS screen asked me whether or not I wanted to overwrite several files. After ending the procedure I rebooted my tablet. And guesse what: CWM is still there and the tab is still stuck on the Splash screen. Also the internal SD still can't be mounted.
What am I doing wrong. I'm slowly but surely going mad here....
hmmm, easyflasher should not prompt you to overwrite anything, it should just wipe it clean. The only prompt is when you select SBK1 or SBK2.
Can you post screenshots? It'd help us understand what exactly is going on...

Right. Apparently I didn't put it in APX mode correctly. Windows asked me to install APX drivers. Which I now did. I then (I assume) was able to install the new recovery. The screen says !!!!phone update succes!!!!!. As we speak I am trying to install the stock ROM. Fingers crossed.....

I'll just sum up what I've been doing so far, because it still ain't working for me....
1) Put the TF101 in APX mode using POWER + VOLUME UP
2) Started up EasyFlasher 0.8.3 and selected "Flash Asus stock zip / Unbrick"
3) When prompted "file ..\temp\META-INF\MANIFEST.MF" already exists I selected "A(u)to rename all"
4) And then starts doing it's thing
5) Stuck at creating and formatting 15 partitions with several three letter codes.
I've ran the program three times now, but without luck. Any sugestions?~
[EDIT]Alright, managed to get it to work! Ended the tasks in through task manager about 4 times, but the 5th time was a charm. Exactly work as said. All thanks to EasyFlasher![/EDIT]
