Hey guys, just got a Sensation and naturally the first thing I did was S-off and install cwm 5.0.8.9
I'm trying to flash AOKP. It flashes successfully but when booted it reboots as soon as I select anything on the screen. Of course I've wiped /data /cache /system etc beforehand. Does anyone know why this is happening?
Fine, I thought, I'll just try another rom. I'll mount usb storage from cwm and transfer one to my sd card. NOPE. I get "E:unable to open ums lunfile" when trying to mount. And to make matters worse I'm getting an md5 error when trying to restore my backup of stock rom.
Can anyone guide me on how to get my device operational again, and ideally getting AOKP running? I'm comfortable with adb and fastboot etc
Thanks for any help

hi if you want to run ics aosp/aokp you have to flash the 3.32.xxxxx firmware inoder to work them. i think its better to use 4ext recovery.

Good to hear you're up and running again however you should still change to 4ext recovery, its built off cwm but it has some features that are needed to install many of the roms from this forum, and its pretty good at making and restoring backups

Deemonspeed, and faux's both state to be compatible with any sense ROM, am on stock ROM, rooted, I don't really want to flash any Rom at the moment just a custom kernel, but when I try to flash e kernel it shows installation aborted

Same problem here too. Sensation on 2.3.4 rooted eng s-off trying to install demonspeed kernel but installation aborted. I restart the phone and now the WiFi has error. Then I have to do a complete restore via cw recovery.
Im bumping this one as i have the same problem. Im on the default ROM, trying this kernel:
[KERNEL][NOV.04]Bricked-Kernel|2.6.35.14|v1.5|[email protected]/192|3DFIX|BATTSAVER|ZRAM|CCACHE
I get a status 7 when trying to flash.
All ive done is to have the zip on my SD, wipe cache partition and dalvik cache, and then "install zip from.."
The installation is pretty simple, so i dont really know what to do here hehe Any ideas?
Got a Sensation btw, its s-off and permanently rooted.
This seems to work ok for me ..

There are plenty of other threads that talk about possible ways to fix this.
However, if you can boot in to bootloader you should be able to RUU (and you are lucky you didn't completely brick your phone).

I am assuming because you posted in this forum that you have the Dual Core LTE version of the One X? Is that correct? Who is your carrier? Also, I am assuming if you tried to flash a ROM that your bootloader is unlocked and you are rooted?

You could go into bootloader, flash TWRP recovery, boot into TWRP, and you should be able to mount the SD card.

CleanROM is great. The regular version leaves in Sense styling if you like that or the Dev edition replaces some of that with AOSP styling (what I like). Both run very smooth and strip the bloatware from the phone.

Hi There
I am just over begginner level, so I hope someone can help me!
I have a HTC Sensation
- It is rooted
- Bootloadeer is unlocked
- CWM recovery is flashed and working
I installed the ELEGANCIA custom rom to the phone and all was fine, apart from the WIFI was not working. In a stupid moment of madness, I flashed the stock kernel to the phone through the One X software.
So now, when I load the phone, I just get the white HTC screen and can go no further.
As previously stated, I can get into clockworkmod and fastboot etc.
I have the correct kernel package on my PC, but have no idea how to flash it with the phone in this state, or if indeed this will even work. I just want to get back to a working phone now
I do have access to another phone, so I can put zip files etc onto my SD card if that helps.
Is there a rom with the correct firmware/kernels built into it, so I can literally just install the rom through clockworkmod in recovery to overwrite the old kernels automatically.
Or can anyone give me advice on what to do now. Much appreciated in advance.
Thanks
Marc
ps I still have the ROM on my SD card for ELEGANCIA and it installs if I attempt to reinstall, but the kernel is incorrect I far as I understand, hence why it just goes to the white screen again. Do I just need to flash the correct kernel, if so where is it and how do I flash in this state. Ahhh, sorry its a new phone, been up until 5am!

Thanks for that, so I have the correct kernel in a zip folder, within the zip folder is loads of other things including radio etc, do I put this whole zip file on to my SD card? I tried that already and it just aborts when I try and run it in CWM during the install. Do I need to do anything to the kernel folder or add any image or something.

Did you extract the boot.img from the rom and flash through fastboot?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda app-developers app
No, I did not. Basically once the ROM installed, if you have ever seen the One X all in one kit, I pressed (stupidly) flash stock kernel (I think it was 2.6.394) and then got the white screen. If I flash the boot image from the ROM, I will still have the incorrect kernel will I not? Or will that trigger the ZIP file on my SD card, which has the correct kernel? Sorry if I sound like a complete idiot, I have gone above my head on this!
What bootloader version is on your phone? If it's 1.27 then follow this guide. You should also use 4ext recovery instead of cwm.

Thanks a lot, this looks great
One final question
Does this 4EXT automatically detect the custom kernel during the install.
"Follow through the steps and when it asks you to install a custom kernel it would be preferable to select YES, when Installing stock Kernel it is possible you will have Wifi problems. (see Step 3) "
The example it gives is for the Android Revolution HD . Is the firmware different from the stock kernel?
I am just confused with what I done on the One X software, I just clicked 'flash stock kernel' or should I not worry about this?

If You enable smartflash that will take care of it..
And the line you quoted is obsolete.. The smartflash will work for any kernel.. And it won't break wifi (even if it breaks the wifi it can be fixed)

Thank you so much, I will get on it when I finish work.
Just for final clarification, have you ever used/seen the HTC one X toolkit software? The button I pressed, which said 'flash stock kernel' which is what caused me the problems.
Are you saying that following the guide fully and enabling the smart on the 4ext recovery will reverse whatever this done and rewrite the kernel from the ROM, without me having to do anything else? I won't for example have to download and flash a new kernel to get HTC evolution HD (the one given in the example) to work?
I just fear that the fact I have already rewritten to stock kernel using this one X toolkit means problems? But if following the guide corrects this, then great. Hope that makes sense.

Htc One S bricked
Hi im relatively new at rooting and am currently experiencing issues with a bricked device.
i have two htc one s devices
my personal one is running cm10 ville with clockwork touch recovery and is working perfectly
however the second one i was using the same exact files.
this one is bricked
its in a constant bootloop.
i can get back to my recovery just fine and get to the fastboot in the phone fine
i cleared my cache
wiped my data and wiped the dalvik cache all perfectly fine when i try to flash the cm10 official rom back on it cannot mount the sd card
i would try to install a different recovery and try again maybe using viper one s
but i cannot get the phone to power on
it doesnt showup on the computer when it is plugged in while in fastboot
when i try the cmd fastboot flash recovery it says waiting for device
any advice. this is not my own phone so i need it repaired pretty quickly.
any helpful information would be much appreciated.

This little post just pulled me out of missery. Love ya man!
all you guys getting sorted
make a nandroid and sdcard bu NOW and put them on pc,
obviously leave a copy of nandroid on phone also
makes it a lot easier if you get in trouble again
and you/we will
Mounts and Storage --> Format everything --> Now Mount USB Drive --> Put Gapps and ROM
Flash it, erase cache & and Dalvik...Blah blah blah. Flash boot.img in fastboot, and there you go.
Everybody, please remember this and there won't be noob q&a anymore...

See other reply.
I have been reading for the last couple weeks, thinking I have an answer and end up further into the hole.
Rogers HTC One X / EVITA / HBOOT 2.14. / 2.4 TWRP initially, now 2.6 / Unlocked boot loader / s-on
1. Started trying to flash AOKP 4.2.2. Flashed boot.img, then followed with TWRP recovery. All I could get was the language screen and then it stalled. Tried numerous iterations of this with various wipes and flash first and flash after.
2. Next tried Viper 3.2.7. All good till it gets to startup screen then it stops (I understand Viper has its boot.img installed to start not needing it flashed).
3. While trying various wipes to see if it would install completely I mistakenly did a factory reset! Now no OS! No Nandroid! No ROM.zip!
4. To get a ROM on SDCard tried ADB sideload thru TWRP. after running script it says unable to mount SDCARD! Suggests I reboot system! Now a little leery of rebooting for fear it will not.
5. Also tried to MOUNT HTV via TWRP on to laptop. Did not recognize said ti initialize. Formatted FAT 32 (via MAC). Now will not mount SD Card. I did drop Viper.zip into mount (cache and system OK) but can not find it using FILE MANAGER via TWRP
6. Now am in BOOTLOADER screen of Android. Thought I could flash a ROM but from what I read it does not look possible.
Can any one point me in the right direction to get this thing up and running. At this point, as much as I am learning all the time, it does me no good having my phone down for two weeks (sure glad I kept my Nexus One).
Any answer at this stage is a good answer and I appreciate all input!
Thanks
D
Sounds like you did a factory reset in bootloader which corrupts the sd card after unlocking the bootloader. You used to be able to just mount it on pc and format it but after the jb update I don't think that's possible due to the drive no longer being a mass storage device but an mtp device instead. There was a method to fix it developed by team nocturnal but it looks like the site is inaccessible right now. I'll see if there's a way to fix it and get back to you. Bear with me.
[/COLOR]By any chance have you tried wiping sd card in twrp 2.6?
Also, have done SuperCID yet?

SuperCID has not been done. It is S-ON presently.
I wiped SD Card as suggested. Saw it set up partitions. And now TWRP shows up when I mount . Can I just drop a ROM in and flash via TWRP? Any suggestions for a ROM. Could not get AOKP 4.2.2 to run or Viper 3.2.7.
Thanks for the quick assist at getting it to MOUNT.
Flash a stock sense rom and then fastboot flash boot boot.img extracted from the rom. Then use jet to downgrade hboot and SuperCID and then s-off. It'll save you lots of headaches.

In twrp 2.6 the factory reset wipes everything except sd card and system. You don't have to wipe system but I always do when I'm flashing a new rom.
